Tropico 3 is not only a faithful adaptation of a classic idea, it’s also the best game Haemimont has ever made.

Dungeons of Dredmor makes you respect death, where many games simply laugh in its face.

The presentation of AC may feature some of the best graphics and sound effects seen in a PC game in some time.

Not bad for a project that started out in a college dorm.

All in all, Survivor is not big step forward, actually it’s hardly even a step, but it’s more Shadowgrounds, which is enough of a reason to go and get it. I don’t know of any other top-down shooters for the PC which are done as well, or look as good or cost $20.

Even factoring in the (token) multiplayer, Rage is a brief game in a small world, with two small towns and not much else. Despite my criticisms, the fact that I really want more says that ultimately this is a pretty good game, just with much unrealized potential.

The Myst games are not for everyone. I have always enjoyed them so I kind of know what to expect and how things work. I thought this game was fantastic.

Graphically, F.E.A.R. 2 looks leaps and bounds better than its predecessor.

If you’re a fan of the series and are able to swallow Ubisoft’s fulsome addition to Blue Byte’s game, I’d definitely recommend The Settlers 7.

The single player campaign is very enjoyable, and no DOOM 3 fan should leave it on the store shelves just because a few levels aren’t as good as the standard set early on in the game.

It is when it tries to do something else other than combat that the game stumbles.

The skirmishes usually don’t last very long, making this an excellent game to play for a quick fix.

A major overhaul, crisper graphics, and a new passing system that needs more development. All in all, it's fun, addictive in a way football games haven't been recently, and worth the reduced price to pick up this edition.

While Open for Business adds new places and new objects, its true value is in adding another huge gameplay element to an already outstanding title. As an expansion pack, it includes more new content and better gameplay than several other stand-alone games.

A surprisingly solid product, and gamers that have waited long for a decent sci-fi MMO should check it out. If you’re already into another MMO, however, I don’t see this pulling you away from it unless you’re a big Garriott fan (Ultima fans will find nothing here of interest). On the other hand, there is no harm in spending at least a month or two in the world of Tabula Rasa because this game will likely influence others for years to come.

If you're a Tropico nut, then the idea of a few new buildings and a lengthy, engrossing campaign probably has you interested already. The only ones who might want to stay back are those who felt like they'd had enough one, or two, or three Tropicos ago.

Boasting over 30 hours of play time, multiple difficulty levels and an online component, Titan Quest offers enough gameplay content to make it worth a look.

While that may be one thousand words of criticism, overall I would recommend Mafia II. It's hard to deeply explain the positives because I'd hate to give away some of the more jaw-dropping ain't-that-cool aspects to the game.

The total effect of the expansion pack is still positive (multiplayer is still fun; even the single-player has its uses) but there are a few worrying signs – the introduction of hero units and special abilities and the inward-looking nature of the entire game (SP as preparation for MP).

There is something about the visual style of the game that makes it look a lot more real than other racers which compared to it seem fake and outdated. I guess it's the combination of a potent engine with a few skilled artists, or maybe it's my imagination, fact is that CRC is among the best looking games out now.

The Darkness II is a decent shooter, but there is nothing in it that is amazing; it's respectable but mostly predictable.
