For as much flack as the Call of Duty series has rightfully received over the recent years, Black Ops 3 completely destroys every preconceived notion - it’s far from a recycled version of the previous installments. From top to bottom the game is excellently crafted with a series of new features to complement a robust campaign plot with all types of crazy twists and turns.

Instead of a sense of "been there, done that" it will be a wave of comforting nostalgia, like a sea breeze taking you back to days gone by. OutRun 2006 is a lot of fun, it's just that you have to know exactly what to expect from the series.

Though the game's length might be a bit short for some, I found it to be the perfect slice for my tastes.

Aside from three new campaigns consisting of 15 scenarios in total, Asian Dynasties incorporates a ton of new content in the form of civ-specific units and abilities, additional maps, new cards, multi-player gameplay modes, and the wonderful return of Wonders, among other perks.

While it's enjoyable to solve puzzles and uncover a story in a genre that doesn't receive a lot of mileage these days, it's a little unfortunate that the themes and humor borrow from this ancient Looney Tunes-meets-90s-attitude rather than create a new world and identity all its own.

A wonderful and nearly magical game. It's not very long but it's long enough, as it will entail around 10-14 hours of continuous platforming and fighting, even if you don't try to pick up the 1001 Seeds of Light. The flow and excitement of the gameplay as well as the dramatic visual style will get you hooked for hours to come. I doubt there will be many people who don't like it, as it's equally engaging for players and viewers sitting next to you.

Ghost Master is all about death, and it works. It combines RTS, RPG and action elements and will bring to mind games such as "The Sims" and "Monsters Inc." with a healthy dose of "Scary Movie's" irreverent sense of humor.

Admittedly there is not much here for the Ghost Recon vet. Beginners will get the most bang for their buck with this purchase.

Delivers a fun, arcade experience if you can see past the urban graffiti...This game is trying to hard to be "NBA Street" but thankfully the perspective of the gameplay has not been overlooked.

The fact that you can have fun with this game on your own terms and on your own time is great, but the title does this without sacrificing any of the classic Civilization gameplay so many people have come to know and love.

Some may consider this a novelty but the gameplay is really tightly aligned with the bongo drums. To play it without the drums would be like going to a 3D movie without the 3D glasses.

A few imperfections aside, developer Trendy Entertainment hit the nail on the head with Dungeon Defenders: It's unique, deep, addictive, and cheap.

Ultimately, I came away from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare confused about how to feel about it. I’m always down for some Call of Duty campaign nonsense and was super looking forward to it after Black Ops 4 skipped it entirely. When I started this story, I was stoked. It felt great to play, looked better than any previous entry, and seemed to have some real dramatic ambition. But then the story got going, and it was less thematically coherent than a Tom Clancy game. Both the campaign and (currently divisive) multiplayer add a lot of new angles and depth to the usual Call of Duty experience. Unfortunately, that all comes at the cost of a good story, and the last Modern Warfare had a great story.

There are three types of people who might want to get this game. The hardcore gamer has probably already pre-ordered it, so that's a no-brainer. The newbie who didn't get vanilla MvC3 gets to have all that and more for twenty bucks cheaper, so that's also a no-brainer. Then there's the casual gamer who already has a copy of vanilla MvC3. Make no mistake, you are buying the exact same game again, just with a lot more stuff added to it. If that's worth 40 bucks to you, then pick it up.

A brilliant addition to the Madden franchise. With its user generated-content system, its multiple single-player modes, and its new running mechanics, the replay value is honestly off the charts.

Its low-fantasy setting, tweaked combat system, attention to visual detail, excellent soundtrack, mature content, and promises of large-scale PvP are what set it apart from what is becoming a largely overcrowded genre.

If the only aim of Gods and Kings were to recreate the complexity of older Civ games without upsetting the gameplay balance of Civ V, that would be a lofty goal. But Firaxis has gone beyond that: They've added complexity without unbalancing the game and without making Civ V more daunting for newcomers. Firaxis has walked a very unstable tightrope without falling to the ground.

Chapters of the Chosen serves as a strong reminder of just how good some of the old times really were. It's a lengthy and deep RPG that offers a solid challenge without crushing the spirits of the non-hardcore RPG enthusiast.

Hands down, Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation is the best console flight simulator to date. This may not have been a hard achievement, but it is nice to say that there is finally an aerial combat game worth racing to the store to pick up.

If you never got a chance to play the original Bully, you are really missing out and should pick up a copy of the superior Scholarship Edition as soon as possible. However, if you have already played Bully on the PS2, there really aren't a lot of compelling reasons to play through this version.

The new tunes are catchy, but could somebody please re-record the early Pokémon sound effects?

Considering how amazing the graphics look compared to the first Ghost Recon, it's amazing there isn't more slowdown - although I'm thankful there's not. The online games are surprisingly smooth.

Between the Scenario Mode, the plethora of arcade modes, and the online functionality, there is plenty to do in Tekken 6!

Getting two excellent single-player campaigns as well as a sizeable online offering should please fans of the original game and newcomers alike. While there are some minor graphical issues that can be found throughout both games, they thankfully never adversely affect the gameplay.

In all honesty, this sequel isn't as good as the original but you can never again taste your first chocolate bar for the first time. It's still a lot of fun to take these characters on a quest of sorts. Graphically the game never ceases to take one's breath away.

With some of the best graphics and artwork in the field, Blood of the Sacred is a visual feast. With memorable characters and an addicting storyline, it's a world that you won't want to leave and one that you will return and visit for many of your days.

The game may not have much in the way of replay value, but for bang for your buck, I think it packs enough punch the first time through.

It's fun, challenging and very addictive simply because it's impossible to figure out what happens next but you just can't go to bed until you find out.

Gitaroo Man Lives is definitely a must-play game but I would recommend a rental since it’s relatively short and the replay value is limited.

NBA 2K18 is a solid title that will carry you long into the winter with its upgraded features, massive amount of content, wide range of game modes, and overall better presentation. Its minor setbacks pale in comparison to the positives infused within this title.

SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 easily represents the biggest leap forward for the series. While previous entries certainly piled on the match types and character rosters, the new creation aspects of SvR 2010 make it the best and most immersive WWE video game experience to date.

Each subsequent episode in this new season obliterates expectations with even more unfathomably ridiculous plot twists and endearing characters. The gameplay stays pretty much the same throughout every episode, but the content continues to improve.

It is a great crossover title and has appeal both as an Ivalice adventure and as a full-throttle tactics title.

It is undeniable that the series is growing, and it’s admirable that the developers are willing to try new things. Overall, the experience works in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It’s not a perfect fit, yet, but there’s promise in the series future if they continue to head in a direction that has more RPG elements, and options for a direct approach. It also feels like a proof of concept that they can continue to attempt virtually any setting with a decent chance of success.

Even on current-generation consoles, this game looks great. The sheer amount of on-screen action is astounding for this aging hardware to be capable of producing. Character models are easily the sharpest that they have ever been; the weapons look accurate and clean, and character animations flow through the environment without looking stiff or forced.

For an RPG, Eternal Sonata isn't particularly long -- it clocks in at around 30 hours -- but it's a deep, rewarding, and completely entertaining experience while it lasts.

Although you won't get tons of replay value out of Dungeon Siege II, you will get to spend many, many hours on your first run through with virtually no filler.

It's hard to believe that so much has been packing into such a small package. What once required a separate computer, monitor and cabinet the size of a refrigerator can now be played on a system the size of the pocketbook.

Cube fans may have received the short end of the ski pole in terms of some visual degradation and framerate but Nintendo purists will once again be able to hit the slopes with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach who also were exclusive characters in EA's "NBA Street V3" on the Cube.

"A refreshing blast of gaming oxygen," is how I would describe Sony's new game EyeToy. It's a bit of a novelty to be sure, but it's going to pave the way to the future of how we interact with videogames.

What really matters here is that, yes, Golden Abyss feels like an Uncharted game. If you own a Vita already, this is the game you should be playing right now. It looks and sounds fantastic, the "ledge painting" is a great new feature, and it gives us another story of our favorite treasure hunter Nathan Drake. Sure, it's not perfect.

It has enjoyable gameplay, an engaging story, some freaky visuals, and super-effective sound. And while it is the single player mode that stands out as the best part of this title, the multiplayer is not too shabby either.

The culmination of amazing sound, throwback 8-bit cutscenes, excellent graphics, spotless presentation, and enough details from the 80’s to pack a game twice this size; Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon delivers on every front near flawlessly.

The short of it: I don't like racers, and I rarely like driving games, but Driver: San Francisco hit a sweet spot with its gameplay that had me continually coming back for more.

I found the story more fleshed out since certain story elements that are glossed over in the X360 version are given more gravity and importance.

One thing that did disappoint me about this game is the lack of new content. For the most part, all the levels are the same as they were on the preceding Lego Star Wars games.

Millennium Girl serves as an excellent example of how to refresh an old game and introduce it to a new audience. It keeps the basics that give the Etrian Odyssey series its identity, adds in the many improvements that have appeared in that series over its four entries, and provides new content, such as the redone labyrinth and Story Mode, to make the game feel fresh and new even to gamers who played the original.

Metro: Last Light emerges from the dark underground as an exceedingly enjoyable single-player experience and one of the best games this year. So far.

Wii Sports was a must for Wii owners, as anyone could pick up and play those games. Wii Sports Resort is also very fun to play with people, and it's an added experience with new games, more precise controls, and good ol' Wii Bowling and Golf.

To say that the Lead Blocking Control completely revolutionizes Madden is the understatement of the year.

It's a game that's pretty, controls well, and offers enough of a challenge to keep most players occupied for a while at a fraction of the cost of a full retail release title.

Probably the best arcade-style streetball game on the market.

If you feel like the best games are those that involve combing though menus, analyzing stats, and carefully plotting out hour-long battles, then Disgaea 4 is quite simply a can't-miss title.

There is a sense of freedom that lets you explore more sophisticated degrees of strategy as you yourself gain more experience with the gameplay. With both the single and multi-player modes you can expect a lot of replay value out of this game.

Regardless of whether I was playing the first or eighth game of the series, I found myself so engrossed by the gameplay that it didn't matter if the graphics were eight or a million bits.

For those who were rightfully disappointed by Pro Evolution installments on the PSP in the past, this is a great improvement.

It's the balance of gameplay elements that make Baten Kaitos an interesting game to play. It's not particularly memorable but it does capture you in the moment. For a game of such length not to feel repetitive is truly an accomplishment.

There are bullets, missiles, and exploding vehicles everywhere. It feels a lot like you are playing "The Expendables" in top-down shooter form. In my opinion, the game is definitely worth a try, and it only gets better once you add your friends to the mix.

Darwinia+ has an interesting idea behind it, and its retro aesthetic and aural qualities are a great touch to the game's digital world. But given all the laborious gameplay, I would hesitate to recommend it to most. The multiplayer, exclusive to this XBLA release, might add a little bit of pizzaz.

The Darkness II is everything I wanted a sequel to The Darkness to be. It's almost excessive in its violence, the combat is addicting, the hand-drawn Graphic Noir art style is gorgeous, and underneath it all is a game with a heart and a truly interesting story. Jackie's a supremely messed-up individual, but we still love him because of all the crap he's willing to go through in order to save Jenny. If you're looking for any of these things, The Darkness II won't disappoint.

AI War: Fleet Command provides the kind of gameplay depth rarely seen in today's mainstream RTS offerings, and it does so with one dimension tied behind its back.

Though there's not nearly as much content as the first go-round, there's still an awful lot to love.

It will appeal to "Diablo" and "Zelda" fans alike. It's pace is well-balanced and the action-oriented nature of the gameplay will ensure that it appeals to a wide audience.

It isn’t perfect, with some characters who might look a little too familiar from past appearances, an incomplete Pokedex, but it is still has the same satisfying gameplay loop, array of characters to collect, and a series of gyms you’ll feel compelled to challenge. Pokemon Sword and Shield are a lot of fun and will get people thinking about things to come.

Birds of Prey shines brightly as a solo endeavor in large part due to the extreme level of authenticity and attention to getting the flight mechanics just right.

Instead of watching Kratos become less and less mortal, we are reconnected to him as a human betrayed by the Gods.

Just about every change they have made to the core gameplay, aside from the stat-capping, works to perfection and provides hours upon hours of engaging golf.

If you enjoyed Darkstalkers in the past, you will absolutely love Resurrection. If you didn’t, Resurrection isn’t going to convert you. And if you never played Darkstalkers in the past, what’s the matter with you? Sign on to PSN or XBLA and get this game. You owe it to yourself to experience one of the most important titles in fighting game history.

Playing alone is no fun, unless that's how you roll. However, it's a great party game, and online play makes it extremely addictive and entertaining - perfect for a rainy day at home.

It is a great finish to a truly original tale, and a trilogy that anyone not already familiar with the series should absolutely purchase and enjoy.

If you love college football, you'll find hundreds of hours of quality content.

All these features and ultimately the exciting, addictive, and utterly entertaining gameplay make this game deserving of a high score.

If you're looking for a smart game that doesn't require the patience of Job or the genius of Einstein, but a little more intelligence than a monkey with his hand on his joystick, then SWAT 4 and The Stetchkov Syndicate expansion pack are definitely for you.

AE is fun, but just doesn't have a whole lot of staying power.

As for those who played Black and White, the question is: how much Pokémon can you take? If you're rearing to play another Pokémon game, this is a good one. If you're feeling apathetic about the series as it stands, Black and White 2 are not going to change your mind.

There's more content here than you could shake a stick at. What's more, it is all incredibly well put-together; from the single-player career to deep customization and truly robust online play.
