  1. It is a great crossover title and has appeal both as an Ivalice adventure and as a full-throttle tactics title.
  2. Without really breaking new ground in tactical gameplay, the game is still able to give you plenty to think about during the excessively long battles. Character and job classes offer something different on the battlefield and this is good news seeing as there are hundreds of quests to take on aside from the main quest.

It's a daunting pospect but there are rewards for the brave here. This is a classy, addictive and sophticated RPG. [Aug 2008, p.78]
  4. High production values take the game to a level of quality usually unreached on the Nintendo DS, and the game’s sound and graphics, while a little bit dated, help the battles from becoming too chaotic and move the game’s story along.

Aside from being visually beautiful in a perfect, picture book way, it has one of the smartest combat mechanics around for any RPG, managing to balance the pace of combat with the patient thought of a strategy game effortlessly.
  6. In fact, games such as these are really losing their style due to the fact that they're sometimes too long—FFTA2 should actually take you 30-40 hours to finish, while taking more than 80 if you intend on finishing every mission and finding every nook and cranny with the job system.

With a game like FFTA2 it's not really about the why as the how, only it's a bit too simplistic and uninteresting to make a winning formula.

Definitely the best Final Fantasy Tactics game. Fixes the horrible balancing and technical issues from FFT and the law system from FFTA. Also Definitely the best Final Fantasy Tactics game. Fixes the horrible balancing and technical issues from FFT and the law system from FFTA. Also does away with the dispatch missions almost entirely, allowing you to do them manually if you choose to. Great game all around. Expand

So why did I like this game? Probably because the fun factor was pretty high. Managing your own little fantasy army of strange creatures while walking around in a lively world doing small quests really brought out the inner child in me. The fact that the game didn't have a normal plot didn't really bother me, because the characters itself had life in them, they were active without being overly happy-happy, (the only one I didn't like was Hurdy) not to mention the many returning side characters during quets who were also fun. And the dialogues were also well written and entertaining. It had no philosophical or whatever kind of depth to it, but I don't think that's a necessity for something to be fun. Expand

You still can't skip or fast forward enemy turns or yours, so it makes grinding a lot more annoying.

Making the slow pacing aside, the combat is still good, and it has a lot of versatility and skills combinations for your units, and maybe that is my favorite part of the game, to make that one unit a perfect killing machine. The story is just serviceable, it has potential but is not even near of the other two games, so it makes everything a lot more inconsequential, the characters are OK but nothing to write home about, and the music sounded like a lot of tunes were recycled from FFTA. On the graphic side, the game looks like a work of art, simply beautiful.

Overall is a great game but compared to its predecessors it fells just a little short, specially in the story side, but if you have extra time and want to have a good tactical experience, FFTA2 is a good choice.

FFTA1 was actually the first FF game I ever played and since then I was hooked on the FF series. The graphics are good, gameplay is similar (don't know why they make it so easy with hit percentages and damage though). The musical score is poor compared to no 1 and the storyline and characters are absolutely terrible compared to no1. The game felt endless, I swear I did hundreds and hundreds of quests and the boss fights were a bit too easy. They made the game too complex with too many jobs and the shop system is stupid. Expand

Each character has such a limited number of attacks, and there is no origionality anywhere. The story is forgettable, but complaining about that would be complaining about a Resident Evil story, so I shouldn't mind that too much, and I THINK the cutscenes are skippable, but I haven't played it in a while (for good reason) so I can't remember. Also, why do I have to pay to do side-quests? Shouldn't it be the other way around? The graphics are okay, but it doesn't save the hypnoticly boring gameplay. Also, WHY does my last name have to be Clemet? Kamacho Clemet. Rolls right off the tongue (sarcasm). Why can't I custimize that to be something else like "Michaels", or "Obama", or "McNugget" or ANYTHING BUT CLEMET!! Expand
