Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time delivers on the years of fan demand by offering enough to keep longtime players and newcomers hooked by the recent remasters equally happy.

The Mafia Trilogy is, at the very least, two pretty good games and one not very good game for the price of one game. It’s certainly got a lot of content for the price, and there is plenty of fun to be had, if you’re into the very specific thing that they’re selling. I may be being too harsh to the second game here, but it certainly doesn’t help that the company it keeps make it look so much worse by comparison.

The Long Dark is a mostly functional game, but it’s dated survival mechanics make it a mostly forgettable experience.

Star Wars: Squadrons revives some of the best space combat from older games, but its delivery stumbles with a forgettable story and condensed multiplayer variety.

Serious Sam 4 is a no-brainer for fans of the series and is a game that fans of singleplayer/co-op shooters will likely enjoy too.

The Walking Dead Onslaught does its TV show justice, delivering satisfying walker fights fans have dreamed about without offering much of anything else.

I’ve never had the chance to review a perfect game, nor did I ever think I would, but Hades is that game. SuperGiant Games prove once again that no one is creating games as unique and fun as they are.

I just can’t stop playing Super Mario 3D All-Stars. The joy of movement, the sharp controls, and the endlessly imaginative worlds keep bringing me back, even after all these years.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is an excellent game for fans of visual novels or anime-centric titles. Those looking forward to the RPG elements of the game may be a little more disappointed, as while not bad, they don’t come close to the same standard found within the rest of game, both in terms of visual quality and gameplay.

Fans of puzzle games should enjoy the new mechanic of hopping through time to control multiple characters, but as an adaptation of the series, it falls flat. It’s frustrating in a way that makes for a riveting challenge, but then you’ll reflect that maybe you just spent six hours pulling levers to open doors.

The one thing that Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions nails is its balance between not only being a worthy tribute to its source material, but a competent and fun game. As someone who isn’t a fan of sports titles, I never would’ve believed that I could have as much fun as I did with this game or that I’d become so interested in checking out the Captain Tsubasa series. I already feel like I’ve become a fan of the series and now that I’ve played Rise of the New Champions, I would love to see other sports anime titles get similar treatment in the future.

Buy this game if you wanna pay $60+ for what should be a free roster update. To not be totally negative and end on a positive note, playing this game is safer than, say, going to a live NFL game this year. So at least there’s that? Oh and both the PS4 and Xbox One editions of the game will have free upgrades for the next gen so you can enjoy all the same bugs and glitches in better definition. That’s a touchdown on your own end if I ever saw one.

It takes a game that could’ve been a truly exhilarating action game, to one that just ends up feeling brainless. And while I’ll be the first to say there’s nothing wrong with a bit of brainless fun, it feels strange that a game based on a show that started for kids, and ended for adults wouldn’t have a bit more depth.
