It’s impossible to ignore the high bar Nintendo sets with these releases and the quality we come to expect from them. This one absolutely delivers on being fresh and new, living up to the quality we expect and is an exciting addition to the switch roster for those of us looking for the next great game to commit to. We have come to expect only the best from Mario RPG’s and this one still manages to blow through expectations and leave confetti flying.

Ghost of Tsushima is an excellent homage to classic samurai films and a darn good game to boot. It is truly a master class in presentation and has fun, engaging gameplay throughout.

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is messy, bizarre, and ultimately exactly what it needs to be: A great sequel to a cult classic.

Wanting to bring something new to the Blair Witch lore, the game took a giant swing at a story it had no business trying to tell. Though it has some decent scares and mechanics, strip the “yikes” of a story away and you’re left with a basic linear game full up with bugs.

It’s a little early to say if Ninjala will stand up with the likes of Fortnite or Splatoon, but it’s a creative, fun, and charming game that we should be keeping an eye on.

Marvel's Iron Man VR is a decent game, but one that will only likely appeal to a younger audience or die-hard fans of the property.

While Summer in Mara is a game with a lot of heart; its gameplay is a bit too monotonous to be enjoyable for even diehard fans of games like Harvest Moon.

Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia is a game made almost exclusively for fans of the original, but JRPG fans who put strategy above all else may be able find something to love about this if they put in the time.

Despite its shortcomings, the game does somewhat make up with replayable missions. It’s worth revisiting each level with a different loadout and higher difficulty settings (which heightens the guard’s senses and adds insta-death on detection). An extra challenge mode can also be unlocked with achievements and rewards you with cheats to use in the campaign. Adding to the missions are high-value targets found across each level and mysterious intercoms with coded audio logs.

A long-deserved remaster of two very classic games, but there’s still some bugs to work out.

The Isle of Armor isn’t much, but it’s a nice addition of content for an already great Pokémon game.

With only a cursory understanding of what makes a “Metroidvania” interesting, Outbuddies is a game you don’t need to explore.

The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes is a game that in many ways, takes the essence of a good table-top game and directly translates it into a competent, online dungeon-crawling RPG.

Persona 4 Golden remains one of my favourite RPGs of all time and this rock solid PC port is quickly becoming the definitive release of the game for me.

Ys: Memories of Celceta doesn’t shine quite as brightly as it did when it was a handheld exclusive, but it’s perfect for fans of the Ys series and anyone looking to speed through a shorter JRPG.

Short but challenging, Timelie is an inventive take on the stealth puzzle genre which lets players literally take their time in finding solutions.

This Switch version is hands down the best way to play these games. They hold up remarkably well in 2020 thanks to the engaging story and memorable cast of characters.

While definitely a downgrade, The Outer Worlds remains an incredible game, made even better by the prospect of portability.
