Metal Gear Survive’s underlying concept is not bad and the game has a couple of good moments, but I can’t recommend it to anyone. It’s best to steer clear of it. [04/2018, p.54]

In terms of gameplay, Space Assault has nothing in common with the solid 2016 futuristic racer Redout. It’s a rough port of a heavily automated, primitive on-rails shooter developed originally for iOS and disappointing even as a simple mobile game. [03/2021, p.55]

Super Mario Run looks and sounds like New Super Mario Bros., but unfortunately it does not play like it. It’s a runner that constantly annoyed me with its lack of precise controls I enjoyed so much in real Mario games. [02/2017, p.36]

The style of poorly executed visuals is in discord with the atmosphere that Pendulo Studios tried to create. Yesterday is also too easy and generally just not worth spending 4 hours with it. [May 2012, p.78]

Campaign consists of scripted battles for two players tops, fought against moderately bright bots on well-known maps. It really doesn’t offer much more than previous training missions. War Stories are simply a terrible waste of time. [11/2017, p.67]

There’s no story here and the game depletes its potential quickly, so after few sips of Mediterranean decadence comes boredom. [CD-Action 03/2013, p.75]

When the first shock of butchering helpless people passes it turns out that this forbidden fruit is nothing but a seed. I could point out that it’s a good thing that Hatred depicts murdering innocents as a boring, laborious, frustrating chore but after having played it I’m in no mood for jokes. [08/2015, p.70]

There’s absolutely nothing in Wander that could persuade me to revisit its servers. There’s no combat, no quests and experience points, no puzzles or any other challenges, no crafting. Just you and a totally dead world to explore aimlessly. [08/2015, p.74]

Skinny & Franko’s surprisingly deep combat system is not enough to outweigh the long list of game’s flaws that includes exaggerated difficulty, amateurish voice acting and infuriating bugs sometimes forcing you to repeat dragged out levels with no checkpoints.

The remake not only highlights all flaws of the original, making me wonder why I loved the 1993’s Secret of Mana in the first place, but also introduces some new problems. [05/2018, p.68]

I have no idea why someone decided that MUD is worthy of a 'Triple A' price. The developers couldn't even decide whether they wanted to do an arcade game or a hardcore simulation. [July 2012, p.84]

When Wheels of Aurelia pretends to be a driving game, it’s an unwitting parody with awful collision detection. When it tries to be an adventure game, the choices it offers are too limited and shallow to be meaningful. [13/2016, p.65]

The developers clearly had ambitions to create an interesting game, but something was lacking. Skills? Money? Time? Whatever the reason, Chornobyl Liquidators turned out to be quite a disappointment even though I approached it with moderate expectations. Pretty much nothing in this game fits together and every gameplay element falls short in some way.

You have to admire people who fought for a decade to finish their game despite adversities piling up to the ceiling. I’d love to write that their efforts paid off, but it’s not a family movie and instead of a happy ending we got a half-baked prototype published against all reason. [13/2016, p.66]

You enter the philharmonic hall, you take your seat and listen to musicians tuning their instruments and the audience whispering. Then the noise dies down and... that’s all, you can go home. That’s exactly how Aerea feels. [09/2017, p.59]

The most interesting premise of LA Cops – the fact that you control two policemen – is squandered by your buddy’s poor AI and the lack of co-op mode. Said AI is unpredictable in a bad way, so tactical planning is basically out of the picture unless you call hiding behind a corner with a shotgun and sending your partner as a bait a tactic. Nightmares turn to reality. People start dying. Mainly of boredom. Sluggish story is Alpha Polaris' biggest drawback – you can fall asleep in front of the screen before things start to get interesting. Some ideas (like the possibility of solving some puzzles with a couple different objects) deserve acknowledgement but it's not enough when everything else is lame. [August 2011, p.57]
