GTA IV is a rollercoaster of emotional gaming hidden under the typical killing and murderous maiming so perfectly provided by the GTA franchise.

The game comes together so well and with so much polish and fun, that Wii owners should not let Super Mario Galaxy slip them by.

Tons of gameplay hours, plenty of missions and activities with an awesome collection of vehicles of various modes of transportation and a large array of firearms put the grandeur once again into Grand Theft Auto.

I simply know that as a total package there is no game on the planet that can captivate me more than THPS3 and for many hours on end no less.

Perfect: from the Latin "perfectus"; entirely without fault or defect (flawless); satisfying all requirements; corresponding to an ideal standard or abstract concept; lacking in no essential detail... Add Metroid Prime to that definition.

A technical masterpiece...One of the most impressive aspects of the game is the sheer massive geographical completeness of the environment combined with the overall sense of freedom and open-ended goodness.

Though all of the vehicles, especially the Warthog, are given odd control mechanics, playing with the vehicles adds quite a bit of enjoyment to the otherwise standard FPS game mechanics.

Half-Life 2 isn't flawless, just like any great work of art, but that doesn't make it any less of a masterpiece.

BioShock has more cool elements than any ten other FPSs combined. I would say there is more variation in two play-throughs of BioShock than there is between most FPSs and their sequels.

This isn't just the best game released this year, or even the best Playstation 3 game yet, it's one of the best games released during this generation of consoles.

Definitely for the over 18 crowd, GTAIII delivers a great gaming experience, and at a 2-for-1 price... well, it's a stupendous dollars-to-gaming ratio.

Great quests, solid story, very good voice acting, challenging battles, and engaging dialogue and characters make this an RPG that stands head and shoulders above the competition.

Only the graphical bugs, slow-down and other nit picks associated with the fact that the game is pushing the aging PS2 to its limits keeps this from being the first perfect entry into the series.

The new setting is far more appealing than the modern Liberty City of the original. And it seems more dynamic and interactive also, since players can explore inside buildings and rob businesses, which could not be done in the original.

Having a continuous supply of new levels helps LittleBigPlanet remain fresh – there’s always something new to fool around with, even though there are plenty of half-assed levels out there.

As a fan of the Western, Red Dead Redemption hits its target squarely. Perfection may be impossible, but this game gets closer than most, and it sets a new standard for the Western game genre.

You name it, Halo 2 does it at an A+ level: wonderfully improved visuals, a solidly engaging and well-scripted storyline (with an unexpected sense of humor intermixed with the strong religious overtones), good voice-acting, splendidly ear-pleasing orchestral music, and the coup de grace, exciting online play.

Better physics, smarter opponents, and a huge leap in its visual presentation make GT3 a racer well worth playing.

A classic no matter the platform.

If you have a PlayStation 3 there is no reason why you shouldn't buy this game (unless you are not old enough of course). The story is incredible, the gameplay is fun, and the graphics and sound are amazing. Naughty Dog had a lot to live up to with the release, but they have delivered in spades. I just hope we don't have to wait too long for a sequel. This game is everything you were hoping for, and more. Go get it!

Interestingly, it’s the game’s inability to escape certain problems of previous games, like cameras and finding hotspots, as well as clinging onto the standard Zelda formula of traveling from dungeon to dungeon on a grandiose collectation that holds the game back. Despite this, it is still a must-have for anyone who owns, or is thinking of picking up a Wii.

I hate to use a cliché, but the number of game modes in Madden 2003 are mind-boggling.

The graphics and animation are first rate.

Pile on the "Oh, yes!" moments of solving some really great puzzles, and there's every reason to start thinking about Game of the Year accolades. It's that good.

Certainly not without a few imperfections, Red Dead Redemption is almost unquestionably the best Western-themed game ever, with a great Old West story, an amazingly detailed and expansive landscape that most Rockstar sandbox games are famous for and overall engrossing gameplay that will keep gamers riding off into the sunset for dozens of hours.

Skyrim is definitely one of the best games of 2011, but if the DLC holds out, it might just be one of the best games of 2012 as well.

The sound effects are even more disturbing than previous games with crunching bone sounds that will leave most people cringing the first few times.

Batman: Arkham City is still one of those games that will have a strong presence on list for Game of the Year and it deserves that kind of attention but it didn't quite grab me the same way Arkham Asylum did.

The only unequivocal improvement that can be found comes through the game's morality system. What makes up for the shortcomings in the individual aspects of the gameplay is the rich plot and the interactions between your alter ego and the members of your new crew.

Yes, the actual game has never looked or played better and the game stands tall more than dozen years after its release.

The whole game manages a great balance between action and more traditional role-playing elements. It's very good. I like the action parts and the stats/upgrading parts weren't deep enough to lose me.

Despite the fact that Vice City is ported from the PS2, the new features make the PC version a must buy, even for those who own the PS2 version.

Another negative aspect that many seem to overlook is that Gears of War doesn't sway very far from traditional action/shooter standards; there's not a whole of innovation here.

I already can‘t wait to see what the series has in store next.

Equal parts fun and gripping game play (and possibly geopolitical commentary, depending on how you look at it), Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare stands as stunning example of a scripted first-person shooter done right that equals or exceeds the other big first-person shooters on the market today like BioShock, Halo 3, and Half-Life 2.

It’s a cool setting filled with all sorts of small touches that show due care and attention paid to the fiction Irritional created and the closing 20-minutes are powerful, even if the player does little except get an extended “explanation” but I'd dispute the notion that this is somehow the pinnacle of video games because there's enough that's simply average, like the actual layout of the levels (aside from sky-lines), that those making this claim are simply seeing something that isn't present in this dimension.

Navigating the environments with a controller isn't as intuitive as a mouse and keyboard setup, but with a bit of patience and some experimentation… well, Bungie has seen to it that Halo 3 will probably be the most played Xbox 360 game for at least the next year.

Prepare to be challenged like you've never been challenged before to complete an action-adventure game. If you make it through Ninja Gaiden Black, be proud, because it definitely is one of the hardest games to complete that you'll ever play.

Adding to the story is some of the best voice acting to ever come to a videogame. The entire cast did an absolutely top-notch performance.

If you can put up with the loading screens galore and a bad soundtrack, Burnout 3: Takedown is an arcade racer that should please hardcore and casual race fans.

If you imagine a game where you have the starring role in a "realistic" Roger Moore/Timothy Dalton-era James Bond flick, with more emphasis on shooting things that move and less on scoring with sultry women, then you have a pretty solid idea of what Modern Warfare 2 is all about.

For some reason I felt it was important to play this "final" chapter of the Metal Gear Solid series - mainly to see what all the fuss was about - and I have to admit that I did have fun with the game even without a background rooted in MGS lore.

A highly polished gore-fest that is easily the best game that I have played on the Playstation 2 this last year.

The one factor of the game that can be deemed perfect, revolutionizing, unique, fun, addictive, and challenging, has to be the gameplay system. Bioware has created a different type of RPG, for the non-RPG types.

Civilization IV has a ridiculous amount of strategic elements packed into it.

Though DOA3 may have it beat graphically, no game can touch VF4’s fighting engine. This is the deepest, most dynamic fighter ever created.

The type of game that appeals to the very basic of collective human subconscious. It isn't just a game, it fulfills a very basic need – the need to destroy – in the same way that we need food and water.

Otherwise, it’s the absolute pinnacle of the Smash Bros. series and a fun game to boot.

An evolutionary leap not just in RTS, but for video games in general.

The most impressive feature this time around isn't Pandora Tomorrow's lighting and shading effects or it's near perfect gameplay. It's the playability over Xbox Live

The Hawk series soars to its highest echelon in its Xbox incarnation by besting the other earlier releases on the PS2 and GameCube, especially in the graphics department and giving meaning to the old saying "saving the best for last."

The action is fast, and furious, it looks damn good, and the adventure is a whole lot of fun thanks to how it embraces Greek mythology. Top notch.

A stunning, involving experience that, though not for everyone, will appeal to both the gamer looking for a long, structured action/adventure game and the one looking for loosely organized chaos.

Splinter Cell oozes cool and sophistication from it’s lead character through it’s many and varied levels, and very slick control scheme.

While it’s not perfect, this game is pretty close and I dare you to find better value for your money.

Though Fallout 3 is a good game and it lived up to all my expectations, it is certainly not for anyone wanting a quick game.

For an action fix, particularly Horde mode, Gears of War 2 is recommended.

For all its flash, it still begs the questions: Do visible nipples add anything to gameplay? I’ll let you decide.

Mass Effect 3 is thoroughly enjoyable and a good sci-fi romp.

Overall, this is the best experience I've had playing a Zelda game since Ocarina of Time and I'd have to say they are pretty equal in my opinion. Either way, you won't be disappointed getting this game, it's a masterpiece.

Fortunately, although the naming scheme has strayed from tradition, the gameplay is exactly what you expect of Mario Kart.

Talk about a game that’s firing on all cylinders, Viewtiful Joe is one high-octane ride.

Taken together, with its hundreds of moves per fighter and addictive modes and polished graphics, Virtual Fighter 4: Evolution is a marvelous game.

An easy learning curve, excellent presentation and a story that will keep you coming back.

One of the most incredibly engrossing adventures on any system.

With the dust settling now on World of Warcraft, it is becoming more and more obvious that this is by far the best MMORPG currently on the market.

PC diehards will be less tolerant of its keyboard/mouse control scheme, poor save system and lack of “Restart Mission” option, even if the game does have a lot of positives.

Whether you’re a fighting aficionado or a green rookie, there’s plenty to enjoy about this game.

With around 10-15 hours of play, outstanding music, the best gameplay system ever conceived, and the two original Prince of Persia's included…you will certainly get your money's worth with the Prince.

All in all, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was one of the best FPS games that I’ve played in the last 5 years and hope that the designers can be enticed into additional single player campaigns or a quick release of the next game if not.

It's a fitting end to the series (well, at least Kratos) but it remains extremely close to the lines laid down by the previous two games in both form and content so as not to upset long-time fans.

Others have come close before (and Batman Arkham City is as close as it gets), but as one of the two or three best games of 2011, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception defines what an interactive movie gaming adventure truly is and solidifies its place as the best PS3 franchise ever produced.

Rock Band is an incredible evolution of what Harmonix has been doing for years.

Everything about it is done right. Control is easy to grasp, the audio, graphic, and level designs are top shelf, the storytelling is head and shoulders above most other games, and the Insanity Meter ads a sick twist – it gets the adrenaline pumping.

With the engrossing single-player missions, stellar multiplayer, and the incredibly detailed world editor, WC3 is my early choice for PC Game of the Year.

It’s a fairly simple concept but its complexity and the way it draws you in is amazing. And the replay value is through the roof!

One of the most in-depth and enjoyable football titles to have ever hit the market, with the exception of "Joe Montana 94." Sorry, but that's the greatest game of all time.

A perfect introduction to the game.

The presentation, sound, and much of the story create a very lush, vibrant world that is waiting to be explored. However, the monotony of the battles, and how the story falls apart near the end make it more difficult to enjoy the game in the long run.

I’m going to assign Madden 2003 the same score that I gave "Madden 2002." The changes are nice, but none of them mark a truly great leap over last year’s game.

If you haven't already, go out and buy it now! It's an instantly classic redefinition of an already classic title from the Golden Age of gaming.

The best football video game of 2004.

The only reason SSBM doesn't achieve gaming nirvana is for two reasons: the variety of arenas isn't extensive and sometimes the camera pans so far out it reduces your character to the size of an ant. Otherwise, you're looking at great game.

Where Madden 2003 really isn’t anything special is the sound department.

While I wouldn’t way Rome: Total War is a good title for novice strategy players, there’s plenty of depth and fun in this masterful effort from Creative Assembly without being overwhelming.

Although I lament the camera a bit, the Mario-less voice acting, and the linear stages there's too much to like, too much to enjoy about Mario Sunshine to really bash it.

Soul Calibur II will satisfy most fighting fans with its smooth play and brilliant graphics. It stands easily among a handful of other games as one of the best fighting games of all time.

Despite the games high difficulty at times, it's a "must have" title for the 3DS, especially if you are a fan of Strategy games. Fire Emblem won’t disappoint, and goes on step further in making it memorable with a well-rounded cast of characters, great music and a bevy of customization options.

Some of the best graphics on the PS2, and... completely refined battle and character progression systems...On the other hand players will have to sit through a heavy handed, all together weak story, weak characterization of the cast, and a lack of any sense of exploration.

With all of the play modes, excellent multi-player setup, great graphics, and absolutely amazing level design, this game stands high as a shining example of what a first person shooter should be.

Twilight of the Arnor does an excellent job adding more meat to an already meaty game. It's a bit raw and bloody deep in the middle, but still quite satisfying.

It's not dramatically different from the original but, man, is it fun. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is a title every GameCube owning shooter fan should have.
