But there is still the element of hand holding and the annoying camera which both prevent the player from ever becoming too attached to our hero Jason.

Just not as good as we'd expected it to be. Less than meets the eye, you might say.

Dungeon Defenders: First Wave is not the game many were hoping for and may disappoint on first play, but give the game time and forgive it the cluttered menu and you have a decent original title that deserves a play through.

A fairly decent fighter that manages to recapture some of the nostalgia for late 80's gaming. A multiplayer, arcade and survival mode help provide longevity, though multiplayer doesn't seem to be that robust and is pretty random.

This is a title that focuses primarily on the fun inherent in the concept of possessing enemies. Whilst it most likely won't be appearing in the top 25 any time soon, it certainly is not one to dismiss instantly. For your money, you will be getting a hearty slice of retro-styled enjoyment of the kind that is not particularly prevalent anymore.

Vikings Can Fly isn't a long game by any means. The hardest part is always the start, where you find yourself with next-to-no help at all.

Red Bull Kart Fighter is a game that takes an hour or two to really get to grips with, quite literally! Don't be put off by the initial difficulties, because once you have overcome them, the experience is enjoyable and starts to become heaps of fun.

For those who are looking for a challenge in a driving game and love the idea of big jumps and loops then this new version of Fumes Stunt Racer now comes highly recommended.

Ultimately, Zombie Crisis 3D is like a B-Movie; it lacks substance and style in the game but makes up for it in sheer unadulterated zombie-killing fun.

It's not perfect, as the title might suggest, but certainly provides a fun, if short, challenge.

Despite these faults, though, Yoo Sports is a good looking and well put-together game and still offers good entertainment for the money, especially for younger players who won't mind about the low skill level.

Yes there are a couple of niggles but for the most part Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 is still very much the same, albeit cut down, game I fell in love with back in the day.

The lack of Multiplayer is disappointing, particularly in this day and age when Game Centre can take care of any match-making issues. This, coupled with the controls not quite living up to their potential, let the game down but MMA fans should still get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

While Anooki Jump still has the same faults as any Endless Jumper, that there isn't much more than the initial jumping up the screen to score points to the game, the scoring system is robust and with Openfeint and Game Center integration and Achievements, those who enjoy beating high scores will be in their element.

If you enjoyed Dragon's Lair or Space Ace then Braindead 13 should be the next game on your list. It's quite similar in format and while not quite as good on the animation front, it makes up for this with a better control system and more freedom of choice.

Sonic Dash is certainly a looker and it can move like lightning on the right hardware, but IAPs do hurt the experience a little for a paid app. Still, it can sit proudly as one of the top Endless Runners on the App Store, none-the-less.

For the fan, Real Football 2011 gives with one hand and takes away with the other. It ends up being balanced in their favour thanks to game options, but only just. For the casual player the latest update is just as playable as last year's game but with improved graphics and controls. Whether you go for this or FIFA 11 depends on how important the game options are when compared to FIFA's more realistic looking game.

Blast Radius is an interesting take on the growing Tap Defence genre and the blast mechanic and upgrade system saves it from being just another game about tapping to survive. Though it won't pick up any prizes for style, it's still worth a play through and can get quite addictive once you get into the whole upgrade mechanic.

While Volcano Escape has flaws, it's still a simple jumping game at heart and the challenge of beating high scores may make it worth going back to. It's one of the best looking games of its type, just not the best in terms of gameplay.

Ultimately your enjoyment of Hybrid: Eternal Whisper is likely to come down to two factors, a) how much time you're willing to invest in the game and b) your propensity to enjoy level grinding and skill upgrading.

So Aliens vs Predator: Evolution isn't perfect, but it is playable and pretty faithful to the franchise (bar using a facehugger as a helping hand on Alien missions). With decent graphics and 19 different levels, split between Predator and Alien sections, Evolution should give you a good run for your money.

Six Guns is a solid game with great graphics and some nice handling, but it feels hollow and bare. With no story to tie the game together and a freemium model that is all too ready to prompt you towards the store, it ends up missing the target.

With so many endless runners out there, Mini Ninjas doesn't feel like it does quite enough to stand out from the crowd, but the well designed graphics, use of different players and some nice power-ups still mean that it can be recommended to those fans looking for their next runner.
