Niggling problems such as overly cheap AI still persist, but for the most part, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance manages to breathe new life into the gameplay while still retaining the Mortal Kombat feel.- All Game Guide

Easily recommended to fans, as the game looks great, is easy to control, and offers minimal frustration for those who just want to have fun traipsing around the world.- All Game Guide

The biggest issues players will likely have are the annoying time-based objectives, sloppy control in pedaling from one spot to the next, and confusing environments desperately needing some sort of onscreen map or compass.- All Game Guide

The fast-paced combat is only marred by rather tedious and simplistic level objectives, but after seeing how bad a licensed game like this can get, the developers should be congratulated for delivering a game that looks, sounds, and plays better than most typical releases on the platform.- All Game Guide

Control is brutal in this game, forcing players to grit their teeth and redo each maneuver multiple times before it registers correctly.- All Game Guide

Spearhead isn't a disappointment, exactly, because the three hours of gameplay are excellent, and arguably better than the original missions of "Allied Assault."- All Game Guide

While it's nice to have civilians mixed in with enemies, and there should be a penalty for shooting them accidentally, the price in this game is rather steep: you lose a life.- All Game Guide

The few bright spots are that combos are easy to perform and each character does indeed have a distinctive fighting style. Yet these are quickly dimmed by players whipping through the Story mode within eight minutes using a single button (Y) for nearly all of the characters.- All Game Guide

After a few minutes swaggering around with these mechanical monstrosities, players can’t help but be floored by the intense pyrotechnics and raw power found within this game.- All Game Guide

Perhaps the best and certainly the most unique thing about the game is Hotsuma’s thirsty-for-blood sword, which keeps the action at a brisk pace by forcing gamers to keep moving and keep killing.- All Game Guide

A solid value well worth a spin. Just don't expect much more than the original titles.- All Game Guide

Of greater concern are the problems with the hit detection -- far too frequently, an enemy soldier is only stunned by a bullet through the head. Predicting how many body shots an enemy can absorb before death is nearly impossible.- All Game Guide

Fans of the original Frogger will appreciate the basic concept of hopping around while avoiding obstacles (there are even logs to hop on) while modern gamers will get their expected dosage of objects to find and puzzles to solve.- All Game Guide

The voice acting is almost infallible, and would be quite at home in any Saturday morning cartoon. That said, the writing is inconsistent.- All Game Guide

Defender proves that more is not necessarily better, especially when it comes to modes of play. Rather than take a rock solid format and enhance it through multiple variants of the same basic theme, the developers have created a mess and tried to cover it up with different versions that all have weaknesses.- All Game Guide

Games feature furious battles over centrally located resources, enormously powerful mythological units wreaking havoc, and players competing for the favor of ancient gods. The result is fantastic, fun.- All Game Guide

A stuttering frame rate in a high-speed racing title absolutely kills any fun players will have with the game, and it's a shame considering how close the graphic engine tries to replicate the SSX experience.- All Game Guide

The graphics, sound, presentation, and depth are unrivaled thus far on PlayStation 2, putting the title on equal footing with "Madden NFL 2003" as the top sports games available on the system.- All Game Guide

Follow-ups that come this quickly are not supposed to be this rewarding, which makes Vice City a remarkable achievement at a time when companies are all too willing to release so-called sequels with only a few tweaks and cosmetic changes.- All Game Guide

A solid attempt at watercraft racing that will satisfy less demanding players, but it's a hard game to recommend when earlier games in the genre have done just about everything better.- All Game Guide

Factor in the number of performance-enhancing equipment and items to earn, and it comes close to the addictiveness of titles in the "Hot Shots Golf" series, which is clearly what the developers were shooting for all along.- All Game Guide

Pure Contra goodness. Most of the hallmarks that make the series great are here, including finger-frazzling gameplay, the indispensable two-player cooperative mode, constant shooting action, and giant bosses with well-hidden weak points.- All Game Guide
