Right now, Armed and Gorgeous is hard to recommend. It's not just the character's wardrobe that's skimpy as the game itself is lacking depth and length for the current asking price.

Anyone with an interest in leisurely-paced board games who isn't afraid of very in-depth instructions will most likely enjoy it, but those used to simple pick-up-and-play titles might feel like they've bitten off more than they can chew.

As long as no one expects something that will put their skills to the test, Jigsaw Mansion 2 won't disappoint. It's got plenty of oddly-shaped pieces to line up with other oddly-shaped pieces to make lots of pretty pictures.

Protoxide: Death Race is an enjoyable enough racer, with a good amount of content. While the gameplay never really excels, there's also very little wrong with it, meaning just about anyone can pick it up in short bursts and feel satisfied.

While this is a simple game to play, it's not so simple to master. It's outrageous tracks and fast-paced gameplay also make it truly entertaining, even if it is a marketing tactic.

Underneath the surface, Sudoku Seasons is a pretty run of the mill Sudoku game. That's no bad thing though, given that it does the job perfectly and tries to add a few quirks of its own in the form of different shapes. It might not set the Sudoku world on fire but it will entertain for a pretty decent length of time.

It's just one of "those games" that kind of speaks to everyone. It could use a little refinement (I mean what game couldn't?), but it's definitely a fun little iOS distraction.

Tapping and swiping aerial attacks makes the game so much more than just tilting and dodging, while the persistent accrual of army points and upgrades gives that extra little bit of encouragement to play just one more game.

Each of the seven different worlds is as creative as the last, and Boy Loves Girl is the ideal game to drop in on for short doses or extended sessions. It makes a pleasant change to play something so full of charm and originality.

A must-have app for any tower defense or sci-fi fan.

The multiplayer is simply great.

I'd love to see a console port and a sequel would probably make me vomit tentacles of joy. There's certainly plenty of untapped material in Lovecraft's shared universe to work with.

Ragdoll Blaster 3 is a great return to a franchise that laid relatively dormant over the past couple of years. The heart of the game is as addictive as ever, and the new envrionmental aspects are great additions. Physics puzzlers fans need to check this out.

Some really fun puzzles and spot on fluid physics make this game super entertaining. Some less than perfect English translations also bring a bit of unintended humor to the game.

Margaritaville Online seems like it was built specifically for Parrotheads as players can not only build up their beachside bar to serve up a few frozen concotions for their friends, but can also explore the tropical world around them, sail the open sea as well as dress their character with various Hawaiian style clothing and gear.

As a fan of these "retraux" style games on iOS, I can say that Space Junk is a thoroughly-enjoyable experience on the platform. It's easy to control, is universal, is well-integrated with Game Center, and of course has that classic style of gameplay that harkens back to the old days of gaming. Fans of old-school shooters definitely need to check out Space Junk.

The game's levels aren't the most ambitious to be seen in a platforming title, and in that way AWESOME Land seems to have missed one of the biggest lessons of the games to which it pays homage.

The crucial thing here is that it's all fun. The puzzles aren't overly taxing but the experience is enjoyable.

Since I'm not a tower defense connoisseur I can't say for certain whether or not this will excite people who are. But as someone who tends to skirt the genre I can admit that I'm absolutely obsessed with Elf Defense.

The downside to The Moron Test 2 is that it is a pretty short experience. Mastering each stage takes more time, especially for those determined to 3 star each level, but the whole thing really doesn't take long at all. There's limited replayability too. Given the nature of the puzzles, it's too easy to see through them after the first playthrough.

Look, Speed Blazers is far from the worst thing out there, but unfortunately it's just not very fun, moment-to-moment.

Since it doesn't actually cost anything, I'd say Shogun is certainly worth a download. Just don't be surprised when everything's been done in (probably) less than an hour or so. Whether or not the $1.99 for the remaining three levels is a justifiable expense will depend on the individual.

The Lost City doesn't overstay its welcome, doesn't bore with any complicated story, and doesn't cost too much coin to acquire. It may not be the best game to hit iOS this year but it will easily be one of the most recommendable. Let's hope Fire Maple endeavors further into this genre, they have a knack for it.

Crucially, it's the hand drawn visuals that stand out the most in this title and that touch of class that they bring to the whole experience.

Despite efforts to keep things fresh with a good selection of aliens and impressive armoury, repetition does creep in as the player is essentially looking for keys to open up doors, and then backtracking to said doors. This wouldn't be too much of an issue if the player could just dip in for 5 minute blasts, but unfortunately the game doesn't save progress in terms of rooms unlocked.

This one probably comes more recommended for those who want a challenge provided by a meta-game as opposed to just the game itself. Otherwise, this is a fun 16-bit romp that fits well on the touchscreen.

If repeating levels doesn't sound too bothersome, the idea of a quirky, different on-rails platformer appeals, and the letdown of the gondola being a cabin car doesn't seem too great then check out Gorilla Gondola.

One Epic Game may be a tongue-in-cheek name, but as it turns out it's descriptive. Grip Games have been working hard on their PSN Minis, but it's this iOS release that puts them on the map for me – a job very well done.
