    I've gotten absolutely hooked on Mikey Shorts. I felt compelled to get 100% in Story mode. I keep going back to play more of the 48 Challenge levels. I collect coins so I can run amok in a top hat, monocle, and duck bill because why not. But most of all, it's the way that the game is designed to be empowering.

    I have a hard time thinking of a more compelling action experience than I Am Your Beast, on mobile or elsewhere. Every aspect of it is so tightly wound and propulsive that it makes you want to churn through it just as quickly as Alphonse kills people, and--trust me--that is a good thing.

    Pocket Run Pool is most certainly the best pool game I've played on a phone. It has simple, intuitive controls, and a setup that lets you play offline anywhere and always have a satisfying challenge. What's more is that it has creative modes that keep the experience interesting and drive you to keep playing it over the long-term to improve your skills. It's hard to imagine what else this package could have to make it more compelling. Do yourself a favor and give it a download.

    Vampire Survivors is a power fantasy distilled down into an extremely potent form, but there's also more to it than that. On mobile it plays as well as can be expected, but also allows for traditional controller support if people just want another platform to be able to play this amazing game on, and for free no less!

    Night Book's tight storytelling and convincingly creepy tone held my attention for multiple playthroughs in a single sitting. It's rare for a game to do that, much less an FMV game. If you want to play the game competitively, its monetization scheme might force you to shell out to keep up an edge against the competition, but otherwise the game is remarkably generous, well-tuned, and a heck of a good time.

    Pocket Planes addresses the main concerns I had with Tiny Tower in the long-term: that there wasn't much of a point to the game, and little goal to attain. Pocket Planes is much more involved, with concrete goals, but still keeps the principles that make NimbleBit's social titles so fun and addictive. Even haters of 'social' games need to give this a shot.

    This first release of Pillars only begins the story of the novel across its seven initial chapters, but if subsequent entries in the series are anything like this one, you have a lot to look forward to.     On its face, Flipping Legend is a pretty light game that doesn't look like it has much to it. Once you get your hands on it though, the game ends up feeling like a lot more than that. Even without the full cast or a breadth of modes, Wild Rift is clearly the new king of mobile MOBAs.

    BackFire’s difficulty curve might make you hate it at times, but its design is fair enough that you’re always jumping back in to see if you can best it. What helps is that the game has an ingenious upgrade system that always lets you make progress, even if you’re just banging your head against a level repeatedly. Oh, and I almost forgot the best part: all of this feels completely intuitive and easy-to-control on a touch screen. Do yourself a favor and get BackFire. It’s one of the best arena shooters available on the App Store.

    There is no question that racing fans will get a kick out of Asphalt 6, but fans of arcade racers will love it just a bit more. The graphics are solid, the sound is good, the driving mechanics are exciting (maybe a bit too forgiving for racing sim fans), and the game is just plain fun.

    Lazy Raiders is a prime example of a fun and engaging puzzle game. The tilt controls are a little awkward to use simply because they involve constantly turning the device end-over-end, but they work well enough and aren't the only option. Really, aside from the storage requirements (700+ MB!) there's little to no reason for puzzle and even ball-in-maze lovers to pass this one by.
