In its present incarnation it's difficult to recommend, but at 99 cents it won't break even the piggy bank if you're curious, and you could certainly do far worse.

The app seems perfect in every way, and hats off to Codito for pulling it off.

It's still very much worth a look for those who enjoy this kind of thing, but potential players need to understand that it's not something that can be played effectively while sitting in one spot.

As far as graphics and sound go, this game is great.

The edgy comic book intros and menu art make this game feel a lot like an exploitation film from the 70′s. That makes it very difficult to recommend the title for children, but more mature gamers will certainly have good fun with this game.

Stunt Bunnies Circus is compelling. It's hard not to try "just one more time" and even harder not to laugh out loud.

So while I can't recommend it for iPhones as it is, I definitely recommend checking it out on iPad. If you liked Bit.Trip Beat but wished there were more mazes (and less beats) in it, Cosmica is the game for you.

Light Byte may look like just another matching game, but the overt simplicity and the subtle layers of complexity mesh wonderful. Pick it up, but don't expect to put it down.

The simple design looks impressive on the iPad and it's nearly impossible to stop playing after just one game. It will be worthy of five stars once the glitches are fixed-which the developers state will happen very soon.

A fresh take on the genre but also obtuse to master. The tutorial might explain all this but it's still quite a steep learning curve which may put some players off. It's worth pursuing, however, as it's an interesting take on a tried and tested formula.

A great example of interactive storytelling.

The sheer wealth of gameplay alone makes the investment well worth it. So get out there and raise some hell, er, heaven.

It's frivolous entertainment easily picked up to waste spare time, but it's not worth a trip over the rainbow.

The game is enjoyable and somewhat addictive, but it's not the original. I can't connect fully to the experience. It's a dim looking-glass view of the past, which, in the present, is simply not the same.

I was extremely disappointed by Razor: Salvation. I enjoyed Siegecraft, but a lot in this title just feels half-baked.

Fish Heroes won't win prizes for originality but it maintains a fun edge and it's consistently satisfying clearing a level with few fish. It's a great one to drop in on regularly to chip away at those 3 star scores.

Mad Acorn hasn't much depth, but it does have some really nice visuals, the great art, and inherent replay value based on desire to get better, rather than through extraneous incentives. It's a great pick-up-and-play title and solid summer casual gaming choice.

Suffering through killer plyometric workouts and dropping weighty fists of cash for brand name cleats may have to wait. For now, I can rest my aching pregnant bones on a cushy leather sofa and watch The World Cup.

While Real Escape is certainly a neat, good-looking, and clever little escape game thanks largely to the use of the gyroscope, so many of the smaller but no less essential elements seem to have been overlooked. It's fun to play, and solving the obtuse riddles feels great, but it can be a real chore to wade through the interface to do so.

Call of Snakes works so well because it improves upon something old and proven while maintaining and even amplifying what made the original so beloved in the first place. It's the best kind of remix.

For the price Asphalt 7 is one of the best arcade racers on iOS. What it lacks in originality it makes up for in polish. Just don't expect a full console experience; it still feels like a mobile game.

Mutant Storm doesn't light the world on fire, but even as a 2005 re-release, it does some things differently enough on a structural level that it should engross fans of the dual-stick shooter.

Disco Kitten is unique to say the least. The eclectic mix of gameplay, mechanics, visuals and music makes for a game that doesn't easily fit into many genres. This one-of-a-kind game is lots of fun and very challenging as well.

My Laboratory is great for those who can't get enough of element-style games or those who are avid puzzle fans. The graphics are adorable and the game play keeps players hooked as they try to find all 200 combinations.

While Trivi.al is a little heavily weighted towards US audiences and far from the most attractive looking of apps, it's a fun starting block for an enjoyable trivia experience. In-game chat keeps the competitive element steady and the free ad-supported nature of the game will ensure it's open to all. With the right community, this could prove popular.

Sneakiness and monotony aside, Dragon Flight is certainly worth trying out. It may only keep interest for a few minutes or it might take over your day, but either way I'm confident most will enjoy their time with it. It's free, it has endless shooting, it has dragons, and it has a cute pink-haired valkyrie. What's not to love?

Dotard's Escape probably won't win over any maze haters out there, but it's sure to please maze lovers. There are plenty of options to play around with and it's never the same layout twice. Plus it's possible to suggest new insidious traps to the developers directly, which might even make it into the game in future updates.

I see vast amounts of potential in Roblade, especially once creative members of the iOS community start playing around with the creation tools, but unless the core building interface gets a fairly major overhaul it's bound to remain inaccessible to less diehard enthusiasts.

It's fantastic to see such a simple yet gripping idea be implemented quite so well. Just expect your iOS device battery to run low regularly. Not through inefficient coding but through the way that New Star Soccer makes two hours feel like five minutes. It's pure, unadulterated joy.

Pocket Planes addresses the main concerns I had with Tiny Tower in the long-term: that there wasn't much of a point to the game, and little goal to attain. Pocket Planes is much more involved, with concrete goals, but still keeps the principles that make NimbleBit's social titles so fun and addictive. Even haters of 'social' games need to give this a shot.

The one downside to Affliction: Zombie Rising's motion control is that playing the game on the go is a little troublesome due to the constant movement. However, it's a small price to pay for a survival horror game that uses its platform to scare in a gimmicky yet fun way.

Overall, CUBES is a highly addictive and impossibly hard game that will have players of all types on the edge of their seats. It's an endless good time and well worth the $0.99 price tag.

It's a simple game but it has enough going for it to keep players interested for longer than a couple of minutes. While it may feel too repetitive for some, it makes up for this with its gorgeous graphics, intriguing sound track and charming nature. I can safely say that it is worth adding to the gaming library.

Zombie Quest's longevity relies mostly on just how much someone will want to play with friends on the same device, but it's also perfect for that very reason. It's not too terribly complex or involved, but it's great for short bursts of play alone or in groups.

Ultimately though, Probe the Humans does not work because of its depth. It works because destroying things is fun.

At first, Unlock might feel fun, but it seriously lacks staying power.

Nibble Jump won't set the gaming world on fire with its revolutionary approach to things but it will entertain. Sometimes that's all that's needed and at a keenly set price, it's worth a look for fans looking for another Doodle Jump style fix.

The tightness of the design of Chrono & Cash makes it one of Orangepixel's best games yet; while it still feels far from perfect, I would love to see future titles from the developer go in this direction of laser-focused arcade titles that expand on a simple gameplay mechanic.

Addressing the supremely lacking controls would certainly go a long way to making Samurai Tiger more palatable. However there's a fair number of numerous smaller tweaks (better aiming, smoother combat, improves flow) that are also fairly essential at this point. As-is, it's not much to be excited about.

It's tough to recommend Match Day Collection to anyone other than nostalgia addicts. Even fans of the originals will feel saddened at how time has ravaged the series. It's to be expected but the steady release of Spectrum games to iOS have demonstrated how some classics such as Head Over Heels have lasted. This just isn't the case with Match Day Collection.

A fun game with a simple concept. It doesn't get boring quickly and the multiplayer games are smooth and responsive. Whether you're a trivia buff or someone who just likes to compete with their friends, Quizboard is worth checking out-especially since the basic version is free.

Adventure Time: Legends of Ooo is short, and adults should have little problem with beating the game and getting the Game Center achievements. But for fans of the show, it's a rewarding experience, jnand for the price of a taco, worth checking out.

Minor problems aside and Ring Fling is a much more exciting game than its gaudy neon exterior suggests. Amongst friends, it's quite unrivalled in the fun it offers.

Uplink was a fantastic breath of fresh air 11 years ago and it still feels just as exceptional now. It's the kind of experience that reminds you why gaming can be so rewarding.

Thanks to these easy, intuitive controls Radia is easy to enjoy, making it a great game to zone out and relax with.

It's definitely not the kind of game people are likely to expect from the screen shots, but Pixey People Making Movies is still certainly a game worth playing. It can get hectic and sometimes a little irritating, but the results are always worth the effort.

Catapult King does a fine job at bringing the popular physics puzzler genre to 3D, and even if it doesn't really do much more to move the genre in a new direction it's a fun game to play.

The graphics are bright and cute, the story is amusing and the gameplay is fun. The various modes spice things up and there are achievements, leaderboards, and even hidden treasures to discover. Tip Tap Block'em is a solid arcade-action pick, if one doesn't mind paying a dollar or two more than for similar offerings.

Scuttle comes in at minimum price and while it doesn't match the fun of its premise the issues won't bother you too much through its 54 levels. There are a plethora of better quick fix games out there, but not that many snooker or pool types. And hey, as far as I'm aware it's the only prehistoric pool game out there – I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong on that – so that's got to count for something.

With lush graphics and a silken thread of upbeat sound, Tiny Ray keeps me building swirly ice cream cone and cotton candy towers. Like a kid in a candy store, I lap up the confection that is Tiny Ray.

The core aspects of Airline Tycoon Deluxe are all solid and would most likely make for a great simulation, especially to genre fans or anyone who loved the original PC release. It's just got no hope of reaching that potential with a control system as inherently broken as the one it has right now.

Heroes of the Three Kingdoms needs quite a bit of work. The foundation for a fun action game is there, but a whole host of imperfections and irritating design choices drag the entire thing down. Might want to wait for an update or two before pulling the trigger on this one.

It doesn't exactly have the smoothest start, but Gnomes is a pretty cool water physics puzzle game. Levels can be agonizingly complicated (in a good way) and the visuals evoke a little Daniel Merriam, which is very cool. Water wranglers, feel free to take a look.

Although the gameplay isn't exceptional, No Red T-Shirts isn't a complete bust. Some may find it more suitable for children due to the graphic style of the game, and it also has an appeal to casual gamers.

The wealth of in-app purchases does feel a little cheeky given the $0.99 asking price but at least it's not essential to progression. Instead, that price provides players with a fun, albeit slightly unoriginal, take on the Fruit Ninja formula.

This is a unique matching game with a different kind of pace and puzzle fans will enjoy it.

Overall, Spellet is a lot of fun for word puzzle junkies. The wide variety of game elements and surprising twists help give it a high replay value. With 100 challenging levels divided into unique stages, Spellet is sure to keep players occupied for many hours. Spell your way to victory in this addicting puzzler.

It may seem like a dumb complaint, especially for an iOS game, but Open The Doors might be a little too simple for its own good. As far as time-wasters go though, its level of quality is admirably high. Check this one out with tempered expectations.

With lots of different enemies, various environments around the kingdom to play in, and the ability to pull of crazy combos while fighting off huge swarms of enemies, this game is a lot of fun to play.

Pastry Panic is, quite simply, another pick-up-and-play iOS game destined for Classic status. There've been a lot of those lately, haven't there? Not that I'm complaining.

Within moments I was totally floored by Project 83113's mechanics, action, and style. Don't be fooled by the cuddly mascot like I was at first; this is a fantastic action/platforming game that's well worth playing.

Tiny Troopers is fun in small doses and has the makings of a pretty cool casual war game. It's just that the soldiers' movements aren't entirely accurate. An issue that doesn't go well with permadeath. It's certainly entertaining in its own way, but requires a lot of patience to get anywhere.

Tennis is a glamorous and refined sport, and Virtua Tennis Challenge serves up a VIP pass to all of the action.

Soccer Rally Euro 2012 won't quite have the longevity of even Ice Rage, which was not a deep arcade game, but at least had high scores to go along with its tournament modes. This game is more about simple amusement, which is fine, and it is a $0.99 universal app with some detail put into the graphics, so it's not a waste of money.

Crash Mayhem basically boils down to a mini-game collection that brings together many of the gameplay elements and mechanics made popular in other iOS driving games.

While some of the elements that make The Naked Gun: ICUP unique and interesting also get in the way at times, it's still a worthwhile adventure. And while the jokes (like the game itself) can be hit-or-miss, when they hit they're an absolute riot.

While Avenger is a rough game in virtually every sense of the word, it's also full of quirky personality and some very clever mechanics. As it is, it's a fairly competent action game but with a little more responsiveness in the controls it could be downright fantastic.

While some elements can be a little annoying, BraveSmart is still a vastly entertaining game. One that's incredibly difficult to put down to boot.

It takes a little while to hit its stride, but once it does it'll get its hooks in and keep them there. Just like all the others.

The visuals are cute yet kind of twisted in a way not unlike a 90s Nickelodeon cartoon. Meanwhile, the music perfectly conveys the sense of fast, fun madness the game itself is going for. That's really Zombie Carnaval in a nutshell. It's fun madness, emphasis on fun.

Axon Runners is a game that has some intriguing roots at its core: fast gameplay, flashy graphics, and a control scheme designed for touch screens. It's fast, it's just too disappointingly quick.

Deadmans Run is a well done game. It doesn't have some of the polish or flash that a larger title might have but it has a lot of character and solid gameplay mechanics that will give players a good amount of fun for the price.

Little Things Forever won't appeal to those who like tons of action or marauding zombies, but for the mellower solving set and as a family activity it's a delight. It's also the rare game where I urge you to turn the volume up – even the music makes for a wonderfully addictive experience.

In the end, Expand It! is a fun (and cute) little distraction of an iOS game. It can get frustrating at times, but it does a pretty good job of merging rainbows, dinosaurs, and physics more often than not.

While Plague Inc. isn't ground-breaking iOS game, it's definitely one of the most refined. With features like self-mutating viruses, government collapses that actually effect the spread through a given country, unlockable virus classes, and an honest to goodness save feature (yay!), this is the apocalypse plague game to get.

Mega Run is still a fantastic auto-runner though. The choice for set levels was an inspired one, and it will take plenty of time to play and master them all. The fact that it looks great and has cloud saving is just the cherry on top.

Fans of the other games in the Radiangames catalog, even those who have only checked out Super Crossfire, will enjoy Inferno+, especially with its upgrade system. It's not the best dual-stick shooter out there, but it's still plenty of fun.

The visual assets in Zombie Burst are all hand drawn and have their own unique style, but the animations are very rudimentary and especially so during gameplay. Fortunately, this game doesn't take it self too seriously and players will enjoy several funny little interludes as they play through the game.

Tiny Plane is simple in premise, but less so in execution, making it an ideal choice for endless fans looking for a ramped up challenge, and for those who prefer that their games build replay value based not on tricks, but rather on a compulsion to beat the machine.

There is something habit forming about Bee Leader. I'm not sure if it's the aesthetic or the gameplay that's doing it, but something keeps me playing until my fingers are sore. It's not quite a must-have, but definitely a great choice for a casual gamer's collection.

It's just not overly interesting. Bland backdrops and an unhealthy supply of backtracking restrict the fun that can be had. The actual puzzles and hidden object sections are enjoyable but it's getting to them that's the problem. Players may find themselves losing interest all too soon.

Due to the nature of Speedway, Speedway GP 2012 might seem a little repetitive after a time. Fans of the sport will know what to expect though making it less of a problem. Just don't go expecting the kind of controls that come from other racing games, this one's pretty restrictive.

Forget saying it's "good for a Freemium game," Heroes Call is just plain good. Better than good in some ways.

If, however, the game is to remain in the paid category, the developers ought to consider some sort unmonetized reward structure to make completion more attainable.

Duckers is unique fun, even in the crowded endless genre on iOS. It's cute fun for all ages, and despite the clever naming and presence of Mother Duckers, it's worth playing beyond that novelty.

The beauty of the 2D RTS is that it manages to make the genre simpler and more approachable without entirely removing the strategic complexity that makes it so fun in the first place. The beauty of Little 3 Kingdoms is that it does nothing to ruin this perfectly fine game template. That's an achievement.

In the end, Rock(s) Rider isn't a failure; it just comes up a little short. With a little patience players can learn to work around the controls (for the most part), but a little tweaking would make a much-needed difference.

A really gorgeous game. The hand painted qualities of the characters and other game elements all blend into a beautifully seamless environment. The controls are some of the better tilt controls to be found on an iOS game right now, and the gameplay is superb.

It's possible that die-hard Classic RPG lovers will enjoy the uncompromising simplicity of it and the familiarity of the story, but everyone else might want to consider looking around a little more for their next role playing fix.

It may not convert the fruit-faithful, but it's just different enough that it might still turn their heads.

I think Mafia Planet has about a fifty-fifty shot of converting wannabe Cugines. But while it may not win over social gaming addicts who already have a significant time sink it's certainly not a bad place to start for those without.

The core mechanics are not necessarily as fun, and there's not a lot to really hook players yet. Maybe down the road, this might really be worth it.

Air Mail definitely lives up to the promise that the game had when I first got to play it. This is a fun flying game that has the feel of a Nintendo 64 or Dreamcast classic with its colorful graphics and feel, and it's well worth the premium app price to check it out.

It might be heavy on the exposition and light on the camera control, but this is one solid free-to-play that usually always has something for players to do. Being the boss of a secret organization created to deal with extra-terrestrial activities sounds like a fantastic job, and thanks to Men in Black 3 I'm even more inclined to believe it.

While I wasn't a big fan of the interface and menus, it was bearable until I noticed a problem. There's no way to individually remove pieces of the bridge.

The many elements of Glory of Sparta work well together. The buttons are a bit crowded and this can occasionally make it difficult to hit the right one at the right time. Aside from this, though, the action and strategy elements work well together.

Looked at on its own (which I'm not sure it deserves) it's an enjoyable enough romp with plenty of replay value. And it's free, and it doesn't really push purchases on me, so that's all to be appreciated. Still, it would be nice to see these values applied to new ideas on iOS a bit more, right? Ah who are we kidding.

I think the fact that the only gripe I have about Elenints is more than a little nit-picky should be indicative of just how much I enjoy it. It's simple enough to learn that virtually anyone can play it, but complex enough in other game modes and difficulties to tax even the most math-minded iOS gamer.
