    Interesting album by Katy Perry, with this album she tell us "I'm more than a Blue wig and candys on the stage". She use her voice to tell us her message, she is very brave to speak about Politics and talk against Trump. All the songs are very amazing, but the MIGOS' duet is very weird, she doesn't need migos to be a great song like Bon Appetit.

    Sorpresivamente este es el album que más me ha gustado de parte de Perry. Creo que aquí se las ingenia con sonidos más "catchy" sin caer en lo que fue prism.

Não vejo um "Conceito especifico" no Witness, mas sim o amadurecimento tardio de Perry em uma nova era de desafios através de quem ela realmente é. Mesmo como um fã, tenho que admitir que ainda sinto falta de algo quando eu escuto esse album, algo mais marcante que eu sentia nos outros álbuns da Katy, e por incrivel que pareça, acredito que seja canções mais marcantes do que são. Dou destaque total a faixa "Witness" minha grande aposta a Perry, Roullet, Tsunami e Deja Vu também soam bem. Swish Swish tem um verso delicioso, gostoso de ouvir, Temos que levar em conta que Bon Apettit não cabe neste álbum. Ao ouvir "Act My Age" me lembrei da Perry do Teenage Dream, essa faixa soa tão bem...
    Como a própria disse, ela não se sente mais como Katy perry, ela é Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, precisamos ouvi-la, ser sua testemunha em momentos como este, onde a mídia, fãs de Taylor Swift e de Lady GaGa só sabem tacar pedras na mesma.     I don't understand all the hate this album is getting from critics? I know Katy has always gotten mixed reviews, but Witness is a perfectly acceptable album. (And much better than Lorde's "Melodrama", but we won't go there...)

    First off, I'd like to say that this album is disappointing in some ways and pleasantly surprising in others. For one, there aren't as many show-stopping,    I don't understand all the hate this album is getting from critics? I know Katy has always gotten mixed reviews, but Witness is a perfectly acceptable album. (And much better than Lorde's "Melodrama", but we won't go there...)

    First off, I'd like to say that this album is disappointing in some ways and pleasantly surprising in others. For one, there aren't as many show-stopping, standout tracks like Prism and Teenage Dream had. Most of the songs are growers though, and I've come to like this album the more I listen to it. I'd say the overall quality is a lot more consistent. The highs aren't quite as high, but the lows aren't as low either. Another thing I like is that the music is slightly more adventurous than what she's done before. The beats are nice and modern, and the production is solid without sounding overdone. The songs are also a bit more bittersweet and less happy than normal, which is definitely something I like.

    And just because Katy holds a special place in my heart, I'll do a track-by-track review:

    1. Witness - Really solid opener, and one of the better songs on the album. The piano is a nice touch.
    2. Hey Hey Hey - Not my favorite, but a passable song nevertheless.
    3. Roulette - Another solid song, and one of the more traditional Katy Perry songs on the album.
    4. Swish Swish - The first time I heard this, I thought it was fine but nothing special. It's grown on me a lot though, and it's cool to see Katy doing something more dance-oriented.
    5. Deja Vu - One of my favorite tracks on the album. Very danceable and catchy, this should definitely be a single.
    6. Power - Very musically different from what I'd normally expect. Not one of my favorites, but a perfectly fine, soulful song in its own right.
    7. Mind Maze - Probably the weirdest song on the album. It's sort of jarring, especially the auto-tune, although it's started growing on me. I think it's interesting, for sure.
    8. Miss You More - A bland ballad, but not the worst ballad on the album.
    9. Chained to the Rhythm - This song has grown on me a lot. I like the chord progression and like that it gives me some Daft Punk vibes, although it does sound like the kind of song that was written by 20 people. Still one of the more upbeat songs on the album.
    10. Tsunami - I love this song. It's a slow burner, and the bass riff is just perfect. Probably not the most radio friendly song, but that's why it's so great. It sounds a lot more musically mature than what we normally get from her.
    11. Bon Appetit - A relatively simple song, but the beat is the best I've heard in 2017. Seriously, the production on this song is perfection.
    12. Bigger Than Me - A somewhat generic pop song, but it's catchy and has a nice melody, so I'm fine with it.
    13. Save As Draft - Another lame, bland ballad. Reminds me of Britney Spears' "Email My Heart".
    14. Pendulum - Upbeat and happy, but not really my cup of tea.
    15. Into Me You See - A third bland ballad! She should have cut this album off at 12 tracks and we wouldn't have missed out on anything.

    This is the first Katy album that can show one insight of the singer's creativity and reinvention. Witness may not be the album completely mature that we were all hoping for, but we have now a clue and a a chance of Katy Perry making footprint in the history of mainstream music, possibly in the future if she keeps pushing her boundaries like she did this time.

    Expect singles Hey Hey Hey, Save As Draft and Pendulum are the only good songs on this album. The rest i found borning but lyrically this album is great.

    Witness is far from KP's best work, but there's something about her new persona that is oddly charismatic. This album is mostly filler, but there are several standout tracks. The first and third singles, Swish Swish and Chained to the Rhythm, both firmly embrace Katy's new era. Power, Deja Vu and Miss You More are standout tracks (and potential singles). While the album moves along prettyWitness is far from KP's best work, but there's something about her new persona that is oddly charismatic. This album is mostly filler, but there are several standout tracks. The first and third singles, Swish Swish and Chained to the Rhythm, both firmly embrace Katy's new era. Power, Deja Vu and Miss You More are standout tracks (and potential singles). While the album moves along pretty quickly, the album peaks and plummets from track 9, "Chained to the Rhythm." The latter half of the album is much cloudier and, frankly more boring, than the former half. The Mike WiLL Made-It-produced Tsunami is, sadly, a forgettable ballad. The album closer, "Into Me You See" recalls Teenage Dream-era Katy, in a bad way, and includes a horrendous play on words ("intimacy"). The Target Deluxe version offers two wonderful tracks that easily could have replaced the title track and other filler. If KP wanted to keep the theme of "purposeful pop", perhaps it would have been wise to include 2016's Rise.… Expand

    Any album with a killer track like "Deja Vu" deseves praise. That said, Katy has left her charm in the past and this album feels disjointed and emotionless as a result. The gems are overflowing though so one can't complain too much.

    Mature, confident and unique, Witness is a masterpiece. It has a dark vibe and has a message in every song, something that is really difficult to find in other albums. The first track, Witness, makes you want to see through the eyes of the others. Déjà Vu has a catchy beat, and Mind Maze should not be forgotten: it could play all night at the club, and you would still be singing. ChainedMature, confident and unique, Witness is a masterpiece. It has a dark vibe and has a message in every song, something that is really difficult to find in other albums. The first track, Witness, makes you want to see through the eyes of the others. Déjà Vu has a catchy beat, and Mind Maze should not be forgotten: it could play all night at the club, and you would still be singing. Chained To The Rhythm, the lead single, opens your eyes and shows the dark side of the society and the technology. Actually, the whole album has a dark vibe, and you don't have to "be scared to dive in deep", because the sonority is amazing. Roulette is a sweet milkshake made with the 80s discos and silk shirts, while Power has not only the craziest drum solo ever found in a pop album, but also the best lyrics of the record. Save as Draft and Miss You More, the perfect melodies for an acoustic session, are simply stunning. Into Me You See is a ballad that exhales comprehension with lyrics like "Into me you'll see/ You got me wide open/ Now I'm ready/ This is intimacy", ending the confection with the perfect dot.… Expand

    Album is really pretty good. it has certain idea and sound of an album, and it sounds really-really great. if listened only to CTTR or BO i will NOT get the taste of this album. As for me, the greatest song on this album is "Miss You More" — powerful ballad-confession and one of the most beautiful songs by Katy EVER. Witness should be the bestseller of the year.

In his newest work did not have a good commercial success, but it is a material divider of waters in the middle of a discography full of samenesses. Katy Perry's last 3 albums despite having different names sounds like a solo album due to similar concept and sound, but on her fourth album, WITNESS, Katy Perry re-enacted, sought new hits and made a deconstructed Pop, A pop without a sound that makes people like it the first time, a mix of different instruments in a single song and at the same time leaving it authentic and promising. It is an adult album, however the weak point are the compositions that are obvious, not innovative and this has sinned a bit since the instruments are extremely good with a great Pop production.… Expand

    Spectacular album. A perfect comeback, but as always has some issues.
    Some of the songs sound the same, the worst are "Bon Appétit" and "Swish Swish", the others songs are great. Witness and Prism are my favorite albums of Katy, she always doing a wonderful job.

    However, Katy really wanted to change her sound with this album and I applaud her for that. I feel like this album production is very good compared to the lyrics. My top tracks are Swish Swish, Witness and Hey    While there are some good bops on Katy Perry's fourth album, a lot of songs sound like they are fillers to me.     This album is just fine. Nothing else. It's completely different from her other stuff and it's not performing very well. There are several catchy songs, but that's it. Forgetful

    The first time I listened to this album was in June and I hated it but like always I gave it another listen with an open mind and I was wrong it's still a Ok album but unlike Prism she didn't succeed to produce any big single. In fact I hate Bon appétit with a burning passion.
    Also despite having good songs none really stand out.

With strong lyrics about empowering female and full of social causes, Perry builds an album with good intentions but perhaps fails in the balance of tracks, the album has songs that do not seem to be from the same set and in the middle of it, we get a little lost .     I am a KatyCat but i have to say that i'm a little disappointed about this album. I mean, it is definetly decent-good, but its very rushed, untidy, unfocused. Yes, there are some great songs like Witness, Roulette, Bon Appetit, Chained To The Rythm, Tsunami, Mind Maze and Pendelum, but....stop. The others just sound like useless fillers with heavy electronic beats that are all equals.I am a KatyCat but i have to say that i'm a little disappointed about this album. Although I feel like 2 or 3 tracks felt like filler, it is still on par with the other pop girls in the music industry. It felt very personal and Katy showed her vulnerability in some of her tracks here and IWitness album by Katy Perry is a great disappointment for me. Not because it failed to deliver but because of her team's decisions. I liked the album and some of the tracks, I loved. Although I feel like 2 or 3 tracks felt like filler, it is still on par with the other pop girls in the music industry. I like Katy's vocals on this album and how mild some songs are (like "Witness"), and how they sound simply like Katy song (like "Deja Vu"), and messages with them ("Hey HeyIt's an okay album. O único problema ao meu ver nesse álbum da Katy são a falta de inspirações em algumas músicas. Não é um álbum ruim, mas não chega nem perto de ser o melhor álbum dela.

    This album is meh, not so good but not so bad, it's regular. The first songs are the best the other ones not so much. I think Tsunami, Mind Maze and Power are the worst, the ballads are so simple and boring, and the best ones are Deja vu, Roulette and Bigger than Me

    So, Witness is a good pop album, but it has a lot of flaws. The singles shouldn't be there, some songs are clearly fillers, and I think it's too long. But it's the more mature Katy Perry's album so far.

Making experimental albums are always the riskiest and it’s literally make or break, as we all know with the ‘ARTPOP’ era with Lady Gaga but even then, Gaga managed to get a couple of hits off the album and the album itself debuting at #1, and Katy hasn’t really managed to get a mainstream hit.Unfortunately, I do have to admit that of all Katy Perry albums, this is definitely the worst. There’s no real creative process with this album whatsoever. The lyrics are average, the production as a whole seems cheap and rushed, and I can’t see any future releases of this album becoming a hit either.

    I hope that Katy realises by the albums reaction that maybe taking the risk wasn’t such a smart move, even though she had the balls to do so, it didn’t work, and that by the next album she just goes back to being the Katy that we all know and love and releases hit after hit and an album that we can all enjoy together, because this one has fallen relatively flat unfortunately.    … Expand

    Finally an other negative point, was the album's songs order. It didn't made it for me. It's very good from the beggining to the mid adlbum. After miss you more, its too much ups and down in an uncontroled way. CTTR (up), Tsunami (down), Bon Appetit (up), Bigger Than me, Save As Draft (down), Pendulum (up), Into me you see (down).
    I love the idea of a slow and calm song at the end of an album, it's a technique that always worked (its very much effective in Taylor Swift's Reputation), but when it follows that kind of emotional roller coaster, I think it's pretty uneffective.

    You have to listen Witness twice if you want to really appreciate some songs. Despite being a experimental production-songwriting mess, the record ends up bringing to us a few decent songs, that (obviously) you can't dance to but they still are enjoyable.

    There are good songs like "Chained to The Rhythm", "Swish Swish" and "Roulette", but some of them are good after seen them on Witness: The Tour - Tsunami, Hey Hey Hey, etc. I'm sad because a great song like Roulette could be the perfect single to win an Grammy but is not released. The same thing happened with "Legendary Lovers" from PRISM. Sorry, Katy, I'm a katycat but this wasn't a great album.

    The music is overproduced and generic. Lyrically, Katy is repeating herself A LOT on the 15 songs that comprise this record, and vocally, she's had far more impressive moments (e.g. Firework, Roar). Thematically, there's everything you'd expect from a modern Pop album: empowering anthems, slutty songs, melodramatic songs, a song on which Katy drags her archenemy. There's one exception to the standard Pop fare, *one* politically charged song most likely ghostwritten by Hilary Clinton about how we're all zombies chained to the rhythm. Yes, Katy Perry, a super privileged pop star & multimillionaire suddenly had a political awakening, as well as a feminist one which she had expressed by getting a short pixie cut hence the album cover. The eyeball in her mouth is another story though *wink, wink.*

    I should also mention that there's this trend now where many people call this album "underrated" and think the public was "not ready" for Katy trying something "new" and "provocative." That's not the case, because this album was anything BUT new and provocative at the time of its release--it actually was just extremely generic and calculated. Katy basically went from singing catchy songs about love that had her signature zany songwriting style to singing music any other industry puppet could've released. All you need to do is to check the liner notes to see what went wrong. Every song on this album has at least five hit songwriters with as many as four people (or more) handling the production. It's as if Katy contacted every single "it" girl and "it" boy in the industry to create a foolproof collection of guaranteed number #1 hit records. Well the result was the exact opposite. The only songs that I thought showed potential and sounded unique were Roulette, Power, and Tsunami but even these three tracks pale in comparison to the highs of Katy's previous material.

    To end the review on a more positive note, I'd say "Witness" is probably the most cohesive album in Katy Perry's discography in the sense that there are no clearly defined highs and lows like on her past releases. Rather, the same underwhelming mediocre sound is maintained throughout the entire record which might have actually ended up working in its favor. My overall rating is a solid 6/10.    … Expand

What on earth is that song trying to convey? nothing, there's nothing to take away from that apart from the fact that it's generic pop music designed the full out the album, Hey Hey Hey, written by SIX PEOPLE, it took SIX PEOPLE to write that garbage.

    There are bands out there who make far better music then this, it's not worth anybodies time or attention. 5 stars cause perry has a great voice and the production is pretty darn good (mind you generic at the same time) but as far as music goes this is just trash    … Expand

    This album is basic. I did not find anything special. Probably these good notes of the users here are of Katycats accustomed with the basic one. I found Prism slightly better, but nothing very surprising. What to expect from a basic artist like Katy Perry? In that Era, Katy is lost. Poor girl.

Tem pontos altos, como em Swish Swish (falando sobre um sel-empowerment anti-hater sou fodona, bucetuda e me veja rasgar meu cu na sua cara de tanto dançar), também em Miss You More (música típica para adolecentes que sofrem por causa de relacionamentos que nem ao menos existem), em Chained to The Rhythm (single-chefe do álbum, deduzo eu, sobre um posicionamento político de Katy à respeito das eleições americanas, Donald Trump, manipulação, e essas coisas que vemos na televisão). Por fim em Bigger Than Me (chega a ser um faixa muito "whatever", logo tem um ritmo bem agradavel, falando sobre quebra de taboos [paradigmas], como queiram chamar, e há boatos que esteja relacionada com a perda de Hillary Clinton nas eleições em 2016). Sem falar nas muitas faixas desse álbum, super descartaveis e desnecessarias, por exemplo Bon Àppetit, que talvez seja a coisa mais sem nexo e ilógica nesse album como num todo, mesmo tendo uma batida minimalista tosquissima, com vocais podres, contudo QUE GRUDA NA MENTE, infelizmente. Fora as demias faixas, Tsunami; Roulette; Déjà Vu, tudo com quase as mesmas caracteristicas se falar em vocal e estilo. Portanto, não é um album péssimo e lixoso, uma bosta, não! Vale a pena ouvir para pelo menos ter uma base sobre a evolução da Katy Perry enquanto mulher, artista. MAS dizer que esse álbum é o melhor de 2017, fica pra quem é fã fanático/louco quiçá surdo.     Hmmm. This album is lack for better term, interesting. It's not legendary and amazing. However it is not utter trip. Moreover, like every other Katy Perry album the ratio of album fillers to singles is exceeded. Perhaps she should try not to use as much auto-tune.

    Painful to listen. It's completely a messy production with forgettable clinched lyrics and horrible lifeless sound. There are full of fake emotions but no originality or creativeness at all. This is unforgiven considering 4 years of waiting. What a shocking disaster! The biggest disappointment of the year!

    Um álbum bastante esperado, que ao meu ver começou bem e foi dando deslizes no seu decorrer. Katy apresenta uma proposta inicial de empoderamento que é quebrada nas duas próximas músicas lançadas (bon appetit e swith swith) que remetem a sexualização da mulher e afronte entre mulheres, respectivamente.

"Power" and "mind maze" are possibly the worst songs in Perry's career. The already released "chained to the rhythm", "bon appetit" and "swish swish" stand out among so many messy songs. But ballads like "miss you more" and "save the draft" show a leaner Katy Perry. Already the funeral into me you see can make us more understood than a crowded bus ride. Note that the beautiful "pedulum" is an invitation to a Katy perry who tried to reinvent herself and the dancing "roulette" shows Katy with clear inspirations in the 80's and is very similar to the song "I like it rough", ex Pop singer Lady Gaga. It can be concluded that witness is not an appetizer, nor a main dish, it is a silly record and can not add to the unstable career of Perry. Sorry Katy, but it was not a hit in the basket.… Expand

    4 anos depois do auge do seu último álbum, Katy Perry nos entrega o que talvez seja o álbum mais mediano de sua carreira. Com uma sequencia de singles nada favorecida, o álbum parece ser feito em cima da hora. Mas não se engane, o álbum tem sim momentos de ouro: Save As Draft comprova isso.

    Meh. it's not best thing I've ever heard but it works on some levels. The production is really good, it's actually the only thing that I like about this album. The lyrics are cringy (especially in Swish Swish and Hey Hey Hey), I hate how she's trying to be "woke" nowadays and her vocal performance on this album is awful.

    Perry takes a step back, she seems to be experimenting but something definitely went wrong. Perhaps the cliché and hideous production of the middle of the album or perhaps the unnecessary childish essence that is characteristic of her. On the other hand, songs like "Chained to the Rhythm" make us forget those bad (quite a few) moments on the album.

    This album has terrible songs (Power), bad songs (Swish Swish) and good songs (Roulette). Only 5 songs can be called good. The bad-terrible songs are way overproduced.

    The production and themes throughout the album for cohesive which is very good but then the vocals are just so lazy and unconvincing and the lyrics are plain cringe-worthy especially on the “bangers”. Not her worst album, but far from her best.

    So disappointed. I really liked the first 3 singles, but they with Roulette, Witness and Save As Draft are the only good tracks on this album . I think it is too boring, the tracks sound like they're all the same, it's dull and monotonous, full of filler. I'm sorry Katy, but this is a really bad album.

    This is definitely Katy's Artpop era. Except for Pendulum, Roulette and the Nicki track nothing is very appealing. A downgrade from Prism and not worth a 4 year wait. But the singles will be over played on the radio. The entire album was made for the radio. I think she is using Taylor's name to sell.

    The album has a few catchy songs, but sometimes it feels like she's trying to hard to be something different, to do something that nobody has ever done before her. But the album just falls flat. It looks like Katy Perry really is chained to that rhythm. Because, apart from 2 or 3 (really) good ones, the songs feel quite generic and bland.

    A vast differentiation from Katy's old music. At first listen, it may seem dreary and repetitive, it does take a few listens to warm up, and become accustomed to the different beats and sounds of each song. Half of the album can be added to your playlist for continued listening, with few very leaving an impact.

    Stuck in a limbo between attempting to be heartfelt and attempting to be fun, of which it was neither, this annoying work proved to be nothing but a money grab stemming from the monotonous and uninspiring melodies. My Score: 70/180 (Bad) = 3.9/10

    While it's certainly missing any form of coherency, Witness does feel like you're growing with Perry - going on this journey that's helped her find new ground and a reinvigorated appreciation for all walks of the pop music spectrum.

    It’s a real shame Witness has come out as a bit of a disjointed mess, as there’s a decent record somewhere in there, but it gets lost in the fog of endless guest productions and co-writes that miss the point entirely.
