    People that think this album is mediocre need to listen to it a few more times. Trust me, I had to do that too before I could appreciate the album as it actually is.
    It's definitely not what I expected from Katy but it's a really good album with most songs being absolute bangers and others being... well, pretty bad. That's why I'm giving the album an 8/10.

    While the media is trying to bury Katy (as loyal Taylor stans it is), it is also ignoring her maturation on her music. This album is full of concept and deserves more than biased opinions; Katy is tired of generic pop.

    Her best album til date. Her most linear work, most personal, all tracks seem connected to the concept and all of them deserves to be listened. She really presented something out of her comfort zone. Witness, roulette and swish swish are the highlights for me, but i could mention many others.

    Ela tem se esforçado e realizado mudanças. Este álbum trouxe uma nova cara a ela! Um excelente trabalho! O nome do álbum não poderia ser melhor. A música que inspira o nome do álbum faz jus a qualidade da artista, assim como carrega uma mensagem que se perdurará no tempo. Parabéns Katy Perry!

    Mind Maze is the only disappointing track on the record, while Tsunami seems a bit boring but the song is a grower. With the titletrack, Miss You More, Power and Roulette, the album offers some of the best pop songs this year. Generally I have to praise the production on the album, as well as Perry's will to experiment on many songs of the album (although the autotune-experiment on MindMind Maze is the only disappointing track on the record, while Tsunami seems a bit boring but the song is a grower. With the titletrack, Miss You More, Power and Roulette, the album offers some of the best pop songs this year. Generally I have to praise the production on the album, as well as Perry's will to experiment on many songs of the album (although the autotune-experiment on Mind Maze failed).     The fourth material from Californian singer Katy Perry, Witness, is a material in which she has risked changing her pop style and has done quite well. In Witness we find great songs like Witness, Power, Save as Draft, Pendulum, among other songs.

    Witness is great. Most artists write 4-5 good songs that are supposed to be a single, and the rest of the songs are only to fill the album. But in this album, it's different. EVERY song looks like it was written to be a single. This album is so different from her other works, thats why I loved it!

    I've been a fan of Katy since 2011 and this is my favorite album of hers. She grew as a singer, as a person and as a performer. It was worth the almost 4 years that we waited.

    Katy Perry surprised me by the maturity of this record, showed a different side from her, I believe it is an evolution of her as an artist. I liked to see feminism resent in "Hey Hey Hey" and more aggressively in "Power." For now, my favorite album of 2017.

    La producción bajo este álbum es absolutamente increíble, sus sonidos electrónicos y su Deep house de los 80 fueron un gran punto en la producción de este material, donde más podemos apreciar el trabajo de producción es en las canciones:

    - Power
    - Bigger That Me

    En sus líricas podemos ver a una Katy Perry sincera e inspiracional, ya que aunque toca su lado más profundo no es excusa para sentirse mal, Katy sabe manejar las emociones de su trabajo con una gran puntualidad.

    Quiero dar una observación a "Chained To The Rhythm" (lead single de la era Witness), me levanto a aplaudirle a Katy Perry por la valentía y las garras de lanzar un tema político en medio de una era muy tensa en Estados Unidos. Katy ama a sus fans, me doy cuenta en "CTTR", dando a dar la mirada que tiene ella del mundo, y quererla expresar con sus fans. Muy bien Katy!

    Um álbum injustiçado pelo público, não entendo o motivo de tanto ódio com essa era. A única faixa que não me desceu foi "mind maze", gosto bastante da letra porque fala sobre saúde mental, mas não da produção. Pendulum é o auge do álbum, amo a letra, produção, os vocais e o coral fundo.

    Witness é a peça que estava faltando na carreira e musicalidade de Katy Perry. A obra traz consigo vulnerabilidade, consciência e palavras sábias, algo que anteriormente parecia ser evitado nos discos anteriores da artista, que apenas buscava entretenimento e sentimentos aflorados, sem muito envolvimento pessoal. Katy Perry já tem seu legado concretizado na indústria depois de Witness.

    Leaving her comfort zone, this woman delivered the best album of her career. Each song comes with great sounds, some sin in production and distorted vocals that sometimes make strip jump, but it still becomes a good album and that you feel strong and witness to love as it says in various parts. The woman she became to feel on every piece of this album, the intimate version makes it good.

    Changing her sound and giving us something new, Witness is the album that Katy Perry shines her versatility, not needing to have full blow-out records to make an incredible piece of work.
    It’s ahead of its time and I’m convinced people in the future will recognize how good this album is.

    El cuarto álbum de estudio de Katy Perry parece correr por la misma senda que "ARTPOP" e incluso "BIONIC" de Lady Gaga y Christina Aguilera consecutivamente. Trabajos que sin dudas se adelantan a su tiempo y que poco a poco han ido teniendo la justicia que realmente merecen. Trabajos de estudio solidos que por alguna razón acabaron con los años dorados de estas grandes aristas. Trabajos que sin dudas se adelantan a su tiempo y que poco a poco han ido teniendo la justicia que realmente merecen. "Witness" es notoriamente el mejor y más elaborado proyecto de Katy desde sus inicios. Un disco cuyos géneros se mueven entre el dance pop y el electro pop con algunos toques de disco, y cuyas pistas no son creadas, por primera vez en su carrera, para ser éxitos de radio, sino para aportar un lado artístico e innovador, con letras y tópicos complejos y bien elaborados. Estos aspectos resaltan en primera instancia su necesidad de hacer algo más maduro y que lo desligue del pop comercial que ha llevado a Perry a conquistar una cima que todas las pop stars quieren saborear. Si bien el tracklist carece de coherencia pues tiene un orden cuestionable, los matices entre baladas como "save as draft" o "into me you see" (con una lirica que escapa de lo convencional) y fuertes pistas electropop como "Bigger than me" o "Deja vu" dan una coherencia notoria por cierto uso de sonidos relacionables. "Witness" en casi una hora de trayecto, busca como hilo conductor ser testigo y encontrar un testigo en un camino de amor y desamor, de empoderamiento y sentimiento de pequeñez, y finalmente de identidad. Lastimosamente las erróneas elecciones de singles (salvo el primero que supuso el fuerte comeback de Katy) junto con videos musicales no tan bien recibidos, además de ciertas criticas externas al álbum hacia la cantante, hicieron de la era, uno de los desperdicios más grandes de la década pasada.… Expand

    This album takes to itself influences of the current electronic music. The album sounds good, with real personality. Somehow, she managed to bring surprises. Interesting matters, but I didn't like the album cover. Favorite tracks: Chained To The Rhythm, Swish    I was hoping I would be disappointed, but I wasn't.
    Witness is the Perry's first album without Dr. Luke. And it can be felt.

The first half of the album is really amazing (only Hey Hey Hey - probably the next single - i didn't liked so much), with strong letters and such good beats (Roulette it's the best of the whole album). The other half it's a little bit slow but still good (Pendulum, i love you) and I really liked the personal letters of "Bigger Than Me", "Act My Age" andKaty returned with a good album. The first half of the album is really amazing (only Hey Hey Hey - probably the next single - i didn't liked so much), with strong letters and such good beats (Roulette it's the best of the whole album). The other half it's a little bit slow but still good (Pendulum, i love you) and I really liked the personal letters of "Bigger Than Me", "Act My Age" and "Into Me You See". It's a great record but some songs aren't that good like 'Tsunami' (Katy, I trust you, don't make this filler a single!!). This album has a few potential singles, like Witness and Roulette, and I think Katy did not choose right her singles (like Bon Appetit, that one turns good when you listen the complete album. This not work for a single). Congratulations Katy, you made (I think) your second best album (Teenage Dream it's the first and PRISM the third).     This is probably her best album. I think that the songs are incredible and I don't know how she put her singles in there the mixing is just great, but the lyrics are amazing.

    A decent pop album. There are some songs that don't quite catch on but the rest is not bad at all. I personally think it's a massive improvement over her previous album, as Prism's 2nd half was very skippable for me. While I think this album is good, it still doesn't fully warrant waiting 4 years for it.

    "Witness" is a step forward for Katy Perry. It's mature yet fun. It features a lot of great songs and some less interesting ones. The opening track of the album, "Witness", give us a lot of hopes for what's coming next. Its production is magnificent and, in my opinion, it's the best song on the album. Roulette stands out as a throwback song to 00's, mixed with a modern sound, creating a"Witness" is a step forward for Katy Perry. It's mature yet fun. It features a lot of great songs and some less interesting ones. The opening track of the album, "Witness", give us a lot of hopes for what's coming next. Its production is magnificent and, in my opinion, it's the best song on the album. Roulette stands out as a throwback song to 00's, mixed with a modern sound, creating a pleasuring result. The collaboration with miss Minaj, "Swish Swish" (witch serves as the third single) really represents the whole sound of the album. "Deja Vu" is one of my faves here. It's influenced by Deep House and Chill music, making it a relaxing yet catchy track that should be released as a single. "Chained To The Rhythm" and "Bon Apettit" are pretty catchy songs that scream single material. "Bigger Than Me" and "Pendulum" are also great summer anthems. Of course, there is no female album that does not feature any ballad. Katy offers three well produced ballads, with great lyrics and vocals on point. Songs like "Hey Hey Hey", "Power" and "Mind Maze" are not anything special, but still, they are well written. Generally speaking, "Witness" is better than "Prism" and equally exciting as "Teenage Dream". The four-year wait was worth it.… Expand

    Overall, personally I think this new album is much better than 'PRISM'. I actually enjoy and like listening to a majority of this album and not just 8 songs like 'PRISM' or 'One of the Boys'.

Full of electronic bops, Katy Perry gave us her most deep and honest piece of work to date. Of course, songs like Swish Swish (a bop) could be childish, but we can't ignore songs like Chained to the Rythm, Hey Hey Hey and Witness, that have powerful choirs andI will never understand why this album is on the bottom of Katy's discography, because I believe this is her most cohesive album.     Eu realmente achei Witness um bom álbum, não acredito que seja superior ou se iguale aos álbuns anteriores de Katy, mas ainda assim eu gostei das faixas e senti sinceridade nelas. A única coisa que não me agradou foi o photoshoot do encarte, misericórdia Perry, esperava mais.

The fist time I listened to it I was like "what is she doing"' but I listened a second time and i love the album, it's not as good as Teenage Dream or PRISM, but I love it! She changes her style and I love it ! Save as Draft is one of my favorite with Witness and the three singles :D I'm still waiting for my deluxe edition to hear the two bonus tacks :) I didn't give it a 10/10 because all of the songs are kinda the same, the same vocals, the same instrumentals, but it's a good album tho!… Expand

    On my first listen, I found the album to be good but also messy, boring, and lyrically confusing but that all changed with my second listen. It grew on me so much more and now I love this album! My least favorites are Pendulum and Into Me You See. Giving this album an 8/10 since it has some flaws.

    Katy Perry has FINALLY returned with a great, but not fantastic album. While the music on the whole is very well produced and written, it never fully reaches the heights of her record-breaking "Teenage Dream". The songs are extremely unique from anything she's ever done before, but that's both a positive and negative. While the songs are perfect by themselves, they don't fully mesh well toKaty Perry has FINALLY returned with a great, but not fantastic album. While the music on the whole is very well produced and written, it never fully reaches the heights of her record-breaking "Teenage Dream". The songs are extremely unique from anything she's ever done before, but that's both a positive and negative. While the songs are perfect by themselves, they don't fully mesh well to form a cohesive album. It's as if Katy wrote 3 different albums and combined them to form one. The content of the album is still supreme though. Deja Vu and Power are definitely two of the strongest songs she has ever released. While they are well written, the production of pushes the songs to unreached heights. Deja Vu sounds like a 90's dance club jam cranked up in intensity, while Power is a powerful, feminist song that suprisingly meshes psychedelic rock with EDM vibes to create the best song on the entire album. Meanwhile, songs such as Witness, Pendulum, Into Me You See, and Swish Swish, stand out among the rest of the field. Despite a few misfires (Bon Appetit, Roulette), the album on the whole is a worthy successor to her previous work. While it may not be her best album, WITNESS stands out as Katy's most diverse work yet and I personally can't wait to see what she does with it.… Expand

    Her best work. I don't know why the critics didn't liked this. Some songs are such masterpieces, the production are very well and her voice is flawless. The only thing that didn't please me was some lyrics and controversial writing. Like, we have many references to other songs by Katy; Power sounds like Who Am I Living For, by the way. It's an great album, loved it.

    It's a really nice album . It has inspiring lyrics and good rhythm, but it might seem repetitive. Katy has improved vocally. Such a great comeback. "Power" "Pendulum" "Swish Swish" and "Witness" are my favorites. However, I expected a little more, PRISM is still her best album.

    Katy's second best album so far, the first one should always be Prism. In my opinion this album is worth for 4 years waiting, i really love the cases she showed in her lyrics and her voice. Best tracks should be Witness, Deja Vu and Chained to the rhythm. The reason of the two point deducted should be Mind Maze and Power these two tracks

    In my opinion it is a very good album. It's the first time that Katy leaves her sweet pop rhythm and makes more electronic music, darker. It has very good tracks with the exception of "Hey Hey Hey" and "Pendulum".

    Un excelente álbum, el cual te da un viaje en su historia, que contiene una gran falencia: la elección de los singles. Pero en general hay para todos los gustos. Personalmente creo que es un álbum muy infravalorado y que merece mucho más reconocimiento del que tiene.

Songs like "Into me You see", "Save as Draft" and the title track itself, propose to those who decide to listen with an open heart, the state of loneliness in which the artist was. Behind electropops, like "Swish Swish", Perry hides the need for acceptance by other people, mainly because he is a woman, in a market dominated by men, taking all the prominence.

    Unlike PRISM, Witness is an album in which the mistake is not in choosing the repertoire, but in choosing the themes of the songs. The lead "Chained to the Rhythm" addresses the political issue, "Bon Appetit" talks about Machismo, "Swish Swish" talks about humiliating another woman (?!).

    Initially with the political theme, the album gets lost in wanting to address a lot at the same time. Perhaps, if divided into 2 or 3 ep's, Perry could continue to convey his message as he aspired to do with this album, and have a greater acceptance by the public, as listeners would be aware that these would be thematic, and all songs would follow the theme line. . Witness is a good album, worthy of note 8, until then the best of the artist.

    Unfortunately, it's an album that I like, because I'm a fan, and I've heard it dozens of times, but for the critic who hears 1 or at most 2, what he finds is an album lost in itself.

    May the next album be more structured and cohesive, as Katy (and no artist) does not deserve the criticism received for this project.

    Ela finalmente estava experimentando, criando nova sonoridade e tentando de alguma forma se encontrar nos diversos estilos que o álbum se propôs a trazer; a crítica torceu o nariz para o álbum e ela não conseguiu    “Witness” veio quando eu precisava entender que a gente não precisa mudar pra satisfazer necessidades alheias e derrubar mitos que constroem alguém de verdadeiro sucesso.
    Ela finalmente estava experimentando, criando nova sonoridade e tentando de alguma forma se encontrar nos diversos estilos que o álbum se propôs a trazer; a crítica torceu o nariz para o álbum e ela não conseguiu emplacar nenhum hit em primeiro lugar na popular Billboard Hot 100 e mesmo contendo musicas com letras poderosas, se despido de toda imagem, considerada por muitos caricata, feito um reality show que a acompanhou por 24 horas sendo honesta sobre seus sentimentos, a mídia estava mais interessada em sua rixa com a cantora Taylor Swift e comparar seu então trabalho com o de outras cantoras pop do momento e conseguiram pouco a pouco apagar a luz de uma cantora que jorrava chantili pelos seios, literalmente.
    A mesma industria que sempre a criticou por ser muito infantil, agora estava crucificando seu amadurecimento musical, a mesma critica que considerou “Teenage Dream” um álbum passável, agora estava falando que a cantora estava destinada ao fracasso se ela não seguisse essa mesma fórmula que estava acostumada a seguir, afinal de contas ela sempre foi uma artista visual, se ela não tinha isso, provavelmente não teria mais nada. Foi um período de incertezas na carreira de Katy, e mais uma vez ela estava sendo colocada de lado por jugarem que ela não estava fazendo nada de novo e que a carreira dela tinha chegado ao fim, se antes ela era invalidada por nunca ter ganho o Grammy (mesmo sendo indicada diversas vezes e em alguns anos que ela realmente deveria ter levado pelo menos um gramofone para casa), o que pensar da artista agora que ela não tinha recebido nenhuma nomeação sequer pelo álbum?

    It’s a real shame Witness has come out as a bit of a disjointed mess, as there’s a decent record somewhere in there, but it gets lost in the fog of endless guest productions and co-writes that miss the point entirely.
