This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This album has showed me a different side of Lorde and I'm loving this refreshing, healing, pure vibe. This is way different from her past albums but this change is leading me into the sun. The vocals are immaculate, and once again her song writing skills never disappoints. Lorde never makes a bad song, that's all I can say now.

Lorde's Solar Power received mixed reactions from fans and critics because of its complete change in musical direction, It's so funny how fans and critics never learn to give new music to sink, especially when the artist has taken a drastically different musical direction. it takes me at least 3-5 listens to know how to feel about an album, often a lot more than that, particularly when the music isn't what i expected.

Lorde has grown and evolved and this is the most natural route that an artist like her could ever take: a more relaxed and pleasant route. Differently from her other records, she did not try to please the audience with this one, and she herself has said that all she intented was to 'please herself' with the perfect lyrics. Some of the hints of this album are cryptic, and we wouldn't get the references without Lorde herself explaining them to us (e.g. the lyric related to the princess of Norway in The Man with the Axe or the whole Big Star track which is, despite being sprinkled with Liability references, actually about her dog). Its an album that grows for anyone with each listen, and it is an album that you cannot enjoy by not paying attention to the lyrics.

AMAZING! This album is soft and mature, and has some extraordinary tracks like Fallen Fruit, The Path and California. It ends with Oceanic Feeling, that close the album with so much feeling and emotion. Lorde is flawless as always.

In "Solar Power", Lorde reaches a different level from her previous work. For those who waste time comparing and missing the old productions, leave everything you knew about this singer behind and indulge in the calm melodies and strong lyrics of the new album.

Totally different sound. With each album she's grew as a person, which is totally visible throughout this entire record. Would highly reccomend, fallen fruit being her best track on the album, a letter to her parents generation on the climate crisis that hadn't been addressed when it should of been. 10/10

Nothing will ever replace "Melodrama", but this album is so damn good that it's impossible not to include it on the count of the best records of the year. And, most important, she cares about our planet, about our future, our Earth Mother. It's what "Solar Power" is really about. My favourite tracks on this album are with no doubt "Solar Power", "Fallen Fruit" (laudable bridge), "Oceanic Feeling" and "Helen of Troy". I did not appreciate "The Man with the Axe" and I find the central part of the album a bit sleepy compared to the rest of it, but still good. Expand

Awaited and listened to this album with very high expectations, and, although it's been an enjoyable journey, I've ended up having mixed feelings about it . With the exception of four songs which I absolutely adored and won't stop listening to (solar power, stoned at the nail salon, secrets of a girl (who's seen it all) and mood ring). The rest of the album felt... off. The rest of the album felt... off. I felt like I was listening to an endless song, which I could perfectly enjoy if I were trying to relax, but it didn't really cause any effect in me, that feeling I always feel when listening to Lorde. I can't really think of any other way of explaining it. To sum up: it was a very enjoyable summer album, with some exceptional songs that make it completely worth listening to, but many others that, even though I've appreciated, didn't really stick out to me. This is an instant classic. An organic album that consists of carefully-picked choices from Ella. It just flows like the ocean; it shines just like the rays of sun; and after a few sessions with this masterpiece, you'll certainly find yourself getting scarred with some sunburn imprint. Great work, Ella.

Album reflects the internal sighs with bliss and psychedelic ambiance. It seems positive but to understand her lyrics you have to look more deeply further, and when you got it all you'll see actually what she feels. Dont be that subjective and do not expect Lorde to pretend still like a teenager. She is a fully grown woman with loads of thoughts, creativity, the talent.

All these connections Lorde is trying to make: her strange pastiche imagination of the ’70s, that random spoken word interlude by Robyn about climate change, and the themes of “sun healing,” never fully reach each other. Often, they come off as disingenuous and out of touch more than they read as brilliant, or comical. Whether the album is one big prank, or just one majorly failed experiment, the gist of having the “privilege to ignore” is lost in translation. All you are left with is just a handful of pretty alright songs.

If you're riding and vibing with Lorde, this bright shapelessness is superb mood music. If you're not riding her wave, Solar Power can seem elusive, even cloying, as it circles and sways with a smile.
