A very good álbum. It is proof that Perry can always do good pop and that you should not trust the singles, because here the álbum tracks are what stands out the most.

It's too childish, the production is good but the lyricism it's too safe to made. I miss the old katy

Just more same-sounding generic pop. KP literally has two songs she sings, and she sings them over and over again, nicely but indistinguishably.

It's beautiful to witness Katy Perry's growth. This album tells her journey and seek her smile back. I think it's brilliant the way she shows that the process of overcoming the problems and the pain in order to be able to smile again is something that requires pacience and love. This album tells her journey and seek her smile back. I think it's brilliant the way she shows that the process of overcoming the problems and the pain in order to be able to smile again is something that requires pacience and love. Above all, learning how to love herself because you can only love someone if you're complete, you can't expect that someone fixes you. Never really over starts the album with the idea of a dependent person, who is lost after a breakup. Katy needed the love and validation so when she hadn't it anymore, everything was senseless. Then the story continues when she tries to forget the problems with cry about it later. She realizes that it's okay to cry because it can heals you in teary eyes. Then she gets stronger by looking how far she has come with daisies and resilient. "It's not the end of the world, actually it's just the beggining." is a song as powerful as this phrase and it brings us to the part of the album when Katy find her smile back as the song theme of the album says. Now she is celebrating life with champagne problems, tucked and harleys in hawaii. She is free and can enjoy life. The album finishes with only love, which is what she needs the most (and now she has it). It's such an emotional song followed by what makes a woman. There it is Katheryn. What makes a woman is how strong you are. Congratulations. Expand

I just listened to Smile again paying attention to EVERY detail and I can say that it is Katy's best album. She brought cohesive lyrics, a good message (ESPECIALLY FOR WHAT WE'RE FACING RIGHT NOW) and the upbeating beats hiding the lyrics, perhaps the saddest that Miss Perry has ever done, fit into the "Sad Clown" concept that she has been talking about since the beginning.

"She acts happy but she really is a sad clown"
And the way she managed to bring the heaviest moment of her life in such a simple way is something we all should've been appreciating and talking about.

The fifth studio album Smile by Katy Perry is without doubt one the best pop album ever released this year along side Future Nostalgia.
The cohesion of every song is groundbreaking!

Katy, as usual, delivered a well-done, very well-written, produced album. But this one is more than special because it is about a real process of healing, the album starts with pain and it ends with self-worth, self recognition and care. She shared with us her life and her mind in the deepest way and did that trough great sounds, beats, lyrics, rhythm and melody. Honestly not her best work.Only 2 likeable songs , the rest sound like fillers and it just doesn’t seem like she put that much effort into it.Plus let’s not talk about the lackluster cover.

So beautiful and authentic. Essential message about resilience. Dancing and contagious. There are no words to define Katy Perry's talent.

Finding some difficulties to understand such harsh reviews by the critics, also realising that most reviews are more focussed on comparing miss Perry Bloom to other female pop stars rather than focussing on reviewing the music.
This is such a great pop album, I can even say almost on the same level of her sophomore album Teenage Dream.
I have big hopes for this record to go well.

Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

While Perry finds the occasional moment of quality here (Smile and Tucked both feel like the best possible music we could get from Katy Perry in 2020), Smile is an album searching for an identity—and when it fails, it falls back on lazy writing.

Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
