    This album really made me SMILE. Thank you Katy for this album! This is her best work so far! I really cried when I heard Only Love. This album really speaks to my soul especially the experience with depression that I had last year. The album is also full of bops relatable lyrics and no skips!     Katy Perry did an excellent musical job, she never disappoints, this was what we needed for the pandemic, it is an album that talks about how not to give up and always have your hopes high, songs like NOT THE END OF THE WORLD, CRY ABOUT IT LATER and TEARY EYES are a clear example of what the album reveals, Katy's best record work and one of the best albums of the year.

    With a linear story and great pop production, "Smile" might be Katy's best album. Katy brings a message that many of us is needing to hear to go through these hard times. There isn't single skip, and the highlights are definitely "Cry About It Later" and "Not The End Of The World."

    An incredible comeback album and a super positive album that we all needed in times like this. I can't stop listening to this album, it's been on repeat all day and the lyrics and melodies are so pleasing to the ear I can't get them out of my head. In conclusion, the queen of pop has risen and has made a contender for AOTY.

There's no skip in this album and all the songs tell a story from the beginning to the end of the album. Every song is spiritual and a bop you can dance to every single song. The album is actually divided into four parts:

    RECOVERY- Daisies, Resilient, Not the end of the world
    HAPPINESS- Smile, Champagne problems, Tucked.
    TRUE LOVE- Harleys in Hawaii, Only love, What makes a woman

    All songs are mind blowing both lyrically and musically. My favourites are: Cry about it later, Not the end of the world, What makes a woman and Daisies. I recommend you to listen to this album once its just 35 minutes long you'll fall in love with it!    … Expand

It's clear that fans love it, it had a 9.5 user rating until you-know-who's fandom started giving it negative reviews. Regardless, this album is pure pop perfection. Cry About It Later and Not the End of the World are immediate standouts. Katy's lyricism is on point and fans of hers understand her struggles from the past few years on a deeper level. The production is also super clean and was reminiscent of an evolved version of PRISM. It is unfortunate that the single choices were so poor (besides Never Really Over) because Katy may have lost the general public's interest with Harley's in Hawaii or Daisies. All in all, Smile is my personal Album of the Year and this album is living proof that critics' opinions don't matter if your fans love it.… Expand

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    While Perry finds the occasional moment of quality here (Smile and Tucked both feel like the best possible music we could get from Katy Perry in 2020), Smile is an album searching for an identity—and when it fails, it falls back on lazy writing.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
