A very pure concept. The influence of indie pop is noticeable. No doubt a mature, produced and emotional work.

again with the same old tired, generic dance beat. can you come up with something else selena? most of the songs are boring except for two or three songs that are kinda catchy. the only good thing about the album is the the lyrics. lose you to love me is the best song on rare. i wish selena would’ve went down that direction. oh, and her vocals are autotuned tf out of. all these years intoagain with the same old tired, generic dance beat. can you come up with something else selena? most of the songs are boring except for two or three songs that are kinda catchy. the only good thing about the album is the the lyrics. lose you to love me is the best song on rare. i wish selena would’ve went down that direction. oh, and her vocals are autotuned tf out of. all these years into selena’s career and she still hasn’t improved vocally. get a vocal coach luv, you got the money. Selena’s long-anticipated third solo album reminds fans why they fell in love with Ms. Gomez long ago. SG’s first 2 releases off Rare are just too catchy to skip, when listening to the full length album. Yes they’ve been played through many times before the release of Rare, but the cohesiveness of the entire album plays too well together to miss any tracks in the lineup. First up though isSelena’s long-anticipated third solo album reminds fans why they fell in love with Ms. Gomez long ago. SG’s first 2 releases off Rare are just too catchy to skip, when listening to the full length album. Yes they’ve been played through many times before the release of Rare, but the cohesiveness of the entire album plays too well together to miss any tracks in the lineup. First up though is the titled attraction, moving from the lyrics questioning why they’re settling for someone who doesn’t appreciate their quality to skipping right along to the next Prince Charming out there. Secondly Dance again in the anthem for every broken soul who was trapped in some sort of toxic relationship, friendship, or even lack of self-confidence. Tracks 3 and 4 herald the albums theme of self-sufficient and picking up the broken pieces of your heart and fixing it you own d*mb self. Ring enters into the track list with an equal amount of humility, of confidence and beauty’- which is admittedly hard to find these days from someone who deserves to claim that title. Vulnerable checks the gossip and the haters, letting people know that staying true to yourself in this mixed up world of drama.. People You Know takes a simple concept of sadness of a lost friendship to a catchy rhythm. Let Me Get Me keeps up there ongoing theme of breaking free and and following your own path and destiny. Crowded Room is the spark of a deserved prize of finding yourself and finding someone who finally appreciates the real you- dare I say love. Kinda Crazy brings us back to the gaslighting from the original problem character themselves, a call back to the earlier tracks on this album, and even a few singles Gomez has released over the last couple years. But don’t be mistaken- she is over it and it looks like she wants them to know it. Fun circle back to the catchy sweetness of a girl who is free to experiment and find her own way through simply having something not-so-serious. Hopefully more than once. cut youOff is the proof that the tea is still hot and we are ready for the lyrics like “How could I confuse that sh*t for love?” Amen sister! A Sweeter Place is anywhere but here and with anyone but the toxic people we just Cut Off. And I hope it’s Fun. Expand

No artistic growth and direction. The songs sound the same sonically. Heavily auto-tuned. No artistic identity. Musicality is lacking

Mediocre, EXTREMELY mediocre. She has no versatility and can only use the subject of her ex for every. single. song. as a way to even begin to chart at all. She's a sub par artist at best and this album shows that. Please, I don't even understand why ya'll even give her a seat at the table that is the music industry when she doesn't deserve it :/

Rare is a step forward from Revival to a more cohesive sound and album as a whole in which Selena showcases her growth in the last few years not only as an artist but also as a human being, a partner and a woman who is constantly learning to love and treasure herself.

Rare continually teases intriguing forays into leftfield pop, but so many of the album’s experiments come off as just that, without ever crystallizing with memorable hooks.

The record she has delivered to kickstart a new decade is a career defining release, and from a pop star who is firmly back on top of her game.

While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
