    Cohesive, refreshing, and innovative! Selena truly found her knack with this album which includes plenty timeless gems. This is the best pop album in recent memory and it solidifies her own specific sound in music. It is powerful lyrically with songs like Lose You To Love Me as sonically with songs like Crowded Room and Vulnerable. There is not a skip on the album and each song serves itsCohesive, refreshing, and innovative! Selena truly found her knack with this album which includes plenty timeless gems.     Selena Gomez is an artist who has been through so much: starting off at a very young age, some heavily scrutinized on/off relationships, a lupus diagnosis leading to a kidney transplant, etc... and even though her really good 2015 album had a title that fit it so perfectly, it feels like "Rare", 4 years later, is her true revival.

    Over the course of 13 songs (all of which she obviously    Selena Gomez is an artist who has been through so much: starting off at a very young age, some heavily scrutinized on/off relationships, a lupus diagnosis leading to a kidney transplant, etc... and even though her really good 2015 album had a title that fit it so perfectly, it feels like "Rare", 4 years later, is her true revival.

    Over the course of 13 songs (all of which she obviously co-wrote), Gomez sounds like she is finally in control of her creative process and her craft. Saying this doesn't go in the sense that every song on here is flawless, the album has its forgettable moments of course, but its strong moments truly take off and win. The choice of singles is excellent: 'Lose You to Love Me' may have been one of the best, if not the best, comeback of 2019, and 'Look At Her Now', an enjoyable song about self-worth, turns out to be very fitting in the context of the record.

    The other moments where she truly shines are the ones on which she does things she wouldn't usually do: 'Ring' is probably the sassiest, most attitude-filled song Gomez has ever put out, 'Crowded Room' finds her singing with a flawless falsetto, and she even goes a bit alternative on 'Cut You Off', with a non-chalant delivery and a gorgeous instrumental bridge. However, some other songs fall short, either feeling like fillers ('Fun'), or just being repetitive/nothing new as the album progresses ('Kinda Crazy', 'People You Know').

    "Rare" is a really good pop record, and it is definitely a step in the right direction for Gomez.    … Expand

    The album has some very good tracks, that, beautiful as they are, unfortunately don't quite hit the mark. Some tracks just sound outdated - yeah, Look at her now, I'm talking about you. Selena was able to convey both happiness and sadness, and made us want for more. A good album with a few tracks that own replay value. Not bad.

Elle qui subit énormément de critiques, elle vient de prouver qu’elle était une artiste accomplie et que ses talents n’étaient plus à démontrer. A masterpiece, Revival was excellent already but then she struck even harder, her album is full of authenticity, but also pushes to accept and love, the songs are all powerful, Lose You To Love Me remains an extremely strong song in this album and now accompanied by the rest of the album it becomes almost more interesting. Just like Look At Her Now which accompanied by the rest of the album becomes more emblematic of Selena Gomez's emotions. After more than 4 years of waiting since Revival Selena marks her return with a very personal and very successful album, she has dead it wesh. What is more, she did not promote her album very much and yet she should have been because it is worth listening to, Rare one of the best album of 2020 certainly if not the best in advance, and why not from the coming decade.     Rare is Gomez' best work to date. With its honest and vulnerable lyrics, the album is being carried by flowing RnB sounds. It's a very cohesive album and her voice is soothing. One of the best albums i've heard.

    Selena has come so far since Revival and all songs clearly show the growth she has had. All songs are beautiful and tell a story and journey she has been one while being a pop song you will all love!

    While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
