Her best album ever . Love each and every song. The words of the song are so significant and deep , she’s able to speak to the heart of everyone who can relate to what she’s been through the past few years. Such an inspiration . Deeply in love with all of this song

Brilliantly written and produced, it sounds like a journey of transformation and acceptance where each episode has its own distinctive sound. Other than Lose You To Love Me, the songs are mid- to upbeat, they’re fun, they’re catchy, and even if one or two won’t convince you at first listen, the hooks will stay in your mind and will grow on you. All killers, no fillers.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 'Rare' was worth the wait. Selena is back with 13 new upbeat yet dramatically melancholic tracks including 'Lose You To Love Me', the biggest single of her career yet.

'Sweeter Place' featuring Kid Cudi and 'Crowded Room' featuring 6LACK are the 2 star-studded collaborations that are chart-topper worthy.

The title track 'Rare', 'Let Me Get Me' and 'Dance Again' are go-to tracks if you're too busy being heartbroken and would rather dance the pain away.

'Vulnerable' and 'Cut You Off' are unapologetically staying true to yourself and feeling your way out of a messy break-up.

Save the best for last, 'Ring', 'Look At Her Now', and 'Kinda Crazy' are arguably the sassiest tunes for the post-breakup period.

'Fun' your way out of Rare, the mood Selena Gomez has set for herself and her fans on this journey called Rare that's taken 4 years to create. Unbothered and thriving, this album will age like fine wine and with these rave reviews, feels like an Album Of The Year contender at the Grammys.

Selena Gomez has released her second album under Interscope and I was very eager to listen to it because it’s said to be her diary from the last few trying years she has gone through. The 3-4 songs (Look at Her Now, Lose YouSelena Gomez has released her second album under Interscope and I was very eager to listen to it because it’s said to be her diary from the last few trying years she has gone through. Unfortunately, the end result is a muddled project that failed to stick the landing. Part of the issues with “Rare” is the direction they went with on the production. The 3-4 songs (Look at Her Now, Lose You to Love Me, Ring, and Cut You Off) that stood out were brilliantly executed in my opinion. I felt the energy/emotions in those songs and are very relatable for everyone (to a certain degree) which draws the listener back to revisit them over and over. Then we’re left with the rest....although to be fair, the title track isn’t all too bad, just a bit too basic that gets saved by its production. “Fun” and “A Sweeter Place” are poison to this album and it’s quite unfortunate that Sweeter Place gets to close off the album after such a strong song (Cut You Off) got the album somewhat on track after some obvious fillers. The vocals were nothing to brag about and the lyrics weren’t strong either. Perhaps the album was hyped to the point where “Rare” didn’t stand a chance to even compete. It’s disappointing in all honesty...especially after we get a glimpse of what Selena Gomez can do, which is take the reins and really show us how talented she is. Maybe this album faced the problem of having too many cooks in the kitchen, that in the end her vision or original lyrics didn’t get to shine through. Expand

Selena Gomez never pleased me with her 5 previous albums - but in her 6th, released today, the artist surprised me (for the worse). A mix of random noises and lots of empty and meaningless lyrics, which is not surprising since it was so throughout Gomez's career. Exceeded all my expectations of how deplorable this album could be, the only song saved from this mess she calls Rare isSelena Gomez never pleased me with her 5 previous albums - but in her 6th, released today, the artist surprised me (for the worse). Definitely Selena’s best album. The most cohesive personal record she’s done and one of the best pop albums in a while. Favorites are crowded room, cut you off, rare, and ring.

Selena reflected all her experiences perfectly. You can clearly feel identified with each song, something that's not usual on music. Excellent.

The album's amazing ... song to song ... I can't stress it enough. She could release every song off here and it could be a single ... I'm telling you. It's amazing ... so ... it's an A+

Rare continually teases intriguing forays into leftfield pop, but so many of the album’s experiments come off as just that, without ever crystallizing with memorable hooks.

The record she has delivered to kickstart a new decade is a career defining release, and from a pop star who is firmly back on top of her game.

While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
