For example, if you compare it to her previous album “Revival” , lyrically this one is much more mature. Lyrics from “Revival”: “Maybe I should be more like her. She’s perfect.” Comparing herself to somebody else. Gomez sounds amazing in this whisper tone register and breathy voice in this act of divine ruthlessness, full of dance-y, mid-tempo clarity project.
    The album doesn't have a storyline at all and doesn't mainly focus on her fight against lupus nor her romantic relationships, which is something I wanted to listen from her. Neverthless, with this album she is making a statement of confidence, self-empowerment and self-love, focusing on herself. Definitely a smart move for the singer.
    Gomez has made an album that feels like a conversation with herself, making "Rare" the album that she'll for sure remember as her most personal and loved one to date since it plays the role of a love letter to herself written with Swedish pop music mixed with a little bit of craziness and weirdness.     Rare is like a fresh air of breath. The way the sounds and vocals sound on this album flow so beautifully. The rhymes and most of all the messages are very wonderful. It has a little bit of everything that by the end of each song, it leaves you wanting to play it over again.

Tracks like 'Rare', 'Dance Again', 'LYTLM', 'Ring' and 'A Sweeter Place' show her versatility and her bravery to experiment in new sounds for her, all while trying to stay true to herself. "RARE" as an album is very cohesive and has such an "I'm better than this, and I deserve better" kind of presence. One can see that Gomez wanted to send out a message to her fans that they do not have to stay in a dark place and can go to 'A Sweeter Place'. The album is mostly in the dance-pop genre but has tracks like 'LYTLM', 'Cut You Off' that show true emotion and true 'Vulnerability' from the artist.
    Personally, I LOVED the album on the first listen, but I can see how it might not be for others. I TRULY believe it has growth potential. After a couple of listens, some might come to love the album and I really hope they do.

Selena sticks true to her roots and lets the public know that she appreciates pop music. She brings up her past experience and makes you feel like she's seen what you've been through in your life at some point. But also sheds light on how awesome we all are, and how we should appreciate it more. The sound of the tracks makes it feel very fancy, a high level production and her vocals,Relatable content is rare, indeed. So the title of Selena's 2020 album makes a LOT of sense. She brings up her past experience and makes you feel like she's seen what you've been through in your life at some point.     Rare is a very unique and personal album from Selena. It definetly is one of the best or the best album from her we have ever got. Selena herself told that it is her favorite that she has ever made too. I would recommend to give this album a try and listen to it and focus on lyrics. .

    Not her best work yet but not her worst. Revival was way more authentic in terms of production. The opening song 'Rare' isn’t strong enough and songs like 'Fun' makes the album feel like a teenager pop album. 'Dance Again' and 'Kinda Crazy' could be Selena’s next hits.

    While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
