It has the sting and retrospection of reputation with the optimism and confidence of Lover. Taylor can truly do no wrong. Is this her best record? It’s impossible to tell because she has so many other masterpieces under her sleeve. Thank you Taylor for these gifts. You’ve given people music to help them through dark and confusing times. You’ve given inspiration to songwriters and artists alike. Forever grateful. Expand

A perfect blend of her career sounds, while reaching new lyrical highs. Lots of fun,
    Lots of mood
    Lots of words to learn

Another masterclass on writing and taking the listener on a journey. This album is the departure of the folklore forest and return to the synth pop love of 1989 and Lover. As a swiftie since the debut. I love it

It's undeniable, she's is the only pop artist that has been capable of overcome her highest success numbers. This is her purest piece of pop music, 1989, Rep and Lover with no skips

I just love the whole album. I’m not a Taylor Swift fan, or wasn’t, but this album made me look her as never before. The album is very consistent, personal and rich. Lot of nuances in her voice. Anti-hero, you’re ok your own, kid, bejeweled and the Great War my personal favorites.

Quando achamos que ela não pode mais nos surpreender, ela vai e mostra que pode nos surpreender; o álbum é simplesmente impecável com letras fortes e melodias de outro mundo!

Midnights is an experience, better with headphones and with the lights off. The far fetch production and Taylor´s vocals add to an album that has a variety of types of lyrics (from glitter gel pen to quill pen songs) in an almost perfect balance. Midnights is the most intimate album in her body of work, and knowing all of her previous work, is saying something. Worth the time and worth the expectations, this album is going to be a classic in her discography, not only because of the records that is breaking in every single platform and in sales, but because it will be remembered as the child of two of her beloved works ("1989" and "reputation", and it can be the case of "folklore" in certain tracks) full of fun and introspective moments, heartache and fireworks. This is Taylor Swift, and artist who has never been afraid of changes and exploring new lands, and this is one of those projects that proves it, even if it's not something completely new, all of those individual and meticulous details in every song make this songs exciting and new. O que eu acho mais doido na taylor é que já é difícil um artista segurar público replicando o mesmo trabalho e ela explora várias sonoridades diferentes e mesmo assim conquista os fans e mais uma galera nova..

    Perfeito, como sempre

loved the production, the lyrics are still as good as folklore and evermore’s, the album aesthetics are some of the best she’s ever done. i think we’re entering another peak in taylor’s career.

top tracks: labyrinth, sweet nothing, maroon, dear reader, would’ve should’ve could’ve

'Midnights' isn't Taylor's best album in my opinion, but still very nice.

In the same musical style, I think I enjoyed '1989', 'reputation', and even 'Lover' better. I say 'even' because 'Lover' isn't my personal favourite, but it's still more than decent and has 4-5 songs that I love, so... it's just that when it comes to Taylor, I've come to expect greatness, and when it's just good

In the same musical style, I think I enjoyed '1989', 'reputation', and even 'Lover' better. I say 'even' because 'Lover' isn't my personal favourite, but it's still more than decent and has 4-5 songs that I love, so... it's just that when it comes to Taylor, I've come to expect greatness, and when it's just good or very good, I can feel disappointed. Well it's kind of the same with 'Midnights'. Very good, but not on par with my personal favourites (being Red, Speak Now, Folklore, Evermore).

Some songs are very groovy and catchy : 'lavender haze', 'anti hero', 'karma'.
Some are more experimental / personal, and less likely to be a bop, but I still like them VERY much : 'you're on your own kid', 'vigilante **** 'mastermind'.
And some are pretty boring to be honest : 'labyrinth', 'bejeweled', 'maroon'... Not my cup of tea anyway.

The albums gains weight and depth with the '3am songs', some of which are really good ('the great war', 'would've, could've, should've', 'dear reader'). I don't like Paris though. The song. Not the city. I live in here and I love it. The song doesn't do the city justice. But anyway.

Production wise it's... well, it's cohesive. But I feel like, ever since Red didn't get the Grammy in 2013, she's been obsessed with making 'cohesive' albums, which I don't get. To me, an album doesn't need to be cohesive to be a great album. 'Midnights' is very cohesive but it doesn't make it better than some of her more diverse albums. But that's just my opinion.

I like Taylor best when she gets dramatic and unleashes the beautiful and sharp lyrics, the key changes, the waves of contradictory emotions... A few example of this in various albums of hers are : 'Mary's song', 'the way I loved you', 'dear John', 'all too well' (obviously), 'out of the woods', 'getaway car', 'cruel summer', 'august', 'betty', 'champagne problems'... I don't find many songs with this 'dramatic' vibe that I like on 'Midnights'. I'm still vibing to some songs ('lavender haze', 'karma', 'the great war'), and enjoying some lyrics ('mastermind', 'you're on your own kid', 'dear reader'), but there's no all encompassing masterpiece of a song in here, save maybe 'anti hero'.

I've read some critics here saying that, if this album wasn't by Taylor, we wouldn't pay it as much attention and hype. Which is probably true, to be fair. But it doesn't make it a bad album either.

Taylor has come back with a beautiful departure from the dreamy tones of Folklore and Evermore. With songs like 'Vigilante **** reminiscent of her Reuptation era, and 'Karma' reminiscent of her lover era, this is a perfectly balanced album for all swifties.

Was very worried about listening to it as the responses to the leaks were very negative, but this could possibly be my favourite Taylor swift album, never really been a fan of taylor swift albums on the first listen they usually grow on me but this was amazing if reputation was more raw and honest

Long long ago (2010, to be precise) Taylor needed to prove to people that she was a great artist/songwriter, NOW her pieces of art speak for themselves in a smart and fun way. Effortlessly, this album makes me smile and dance like never before, with every song I connect with an artist that is already a legend.

It's an album of masterfully made dark-pop confessions laced with glitter and aspiration — a purposely erratic project that mirrors her rushing thoughts. The high-gloss pop production defines Midnights as a somber sibling to Lover, her honey-dipped 2019 effort, rather than a sequel to 2020’s Folklore and Evermore.

Wild, beautiful, and dreamy pop. Poplor at her best for sure!

There's a randomness to the lyrics that only people who dream vividly can pinpoint but Taylor takes that randomness and ties it back to a feeling, very evident in anti-hero. Made even better with the additional 7 songs on the 3am version.

    Really love this album.

Taylor never fails to make a statement when it comes to what’s on her mind and in her heart. Midnights is the deepest look we’ve ever seen into Swift’s dark evening thoughts, the tempos and harmonies that fill empty spaces.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This album is such a fast grower once you take it all in calmly. At first, it can be overwhelming. There are 21 tracks and by the end, for me upon first listen, songs blurred together, becoming monotonous, but that is a very wrong impression of what the album is like. My advice is to take the time to listen to and appreciate each song individually. Expand

While her 10th album doesn’t make instant classic status like 1989, and Evermore and Folklore remain her masterpieces, it is still an understated, beguiling look into the mind of one of the biggest pop stars of our age.
