Lover is a masterpiece! There is not a single bad song on this entire 18-track album. Taylor continues to raise the bar higher for artists in this generation. This is no doubt Taylor Swift's best album. It is ventures to all parts of love, the good, the bad, the happy, and the sad. When she said the album was a love letter to love itself, you could clearly hear that throughout the album. Taylor is one of the rare artists of our generation that constantly and consistently delivers quality with every project. With this album she once again goes through rebirth or as she herself said once, "I follow every zig with a zag. I don’t try to necessarily outdo myself, I just try to do something slightly different."

As a long-time Swift fan I can say that this album, probably more than any other before, displays her maturing process brilliantly and that can be seen in her lyrics, sounds, as well as the themes she covers throughout this album. Never has she been so introspective, aware and open about her flaws and how they have affected her life and relationships. Some songs cut so deep that they make the listener feel almost called out, because let's face it, who can't relate to screw-ups and all the ways they've affected our lives? Even two lead singles that have gotten mixed reviews, and it should be noted that Swift has developed a habit of releasing polarizing singles - at this point it seems like she enjoys deceiving public with her first releases, sound so much better and purposeful in the context of the album as a body of work.

There's so much more that can be said for this album, after all - it is 18 songs long and there is a lot to unpack. So make some time and give this album a proper listen. Or two. Or five. Because this album is well worth spending time on.

The queen has done it again. This may just be her best album. It’s so sonically and lyrically complex and it seems like every time that I listen to it, I pick up on things I previously missed that make me love the album even more. Such a beautiful, emotional, and fun ride of an album. No one does it like the queen.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ll just say it. I really dislike the new Taylor swift album lover. My mom taught me to not use the word hate... First off the album is too long. The entire first half sounds the same with no pace change until we get to soon you’ll get better. The opening song I forgot that you existed is a recycled version of this is why we can’t have nice things. With undertones of every other song on reputation. The next half of the album is getaway car with worse lyrics/bridges/choruses. The beautiful song she wrote for her mother is arranged in the exact same way Ronan was. The man lyrics are awful. All of the lyrics pretty much are. I would rate this album 0/10 and will probably never listen to it again. There is no growth here. There are hints of moments. The archer explores themes of a relationship but some of the lyrics in that song pretty much ruin it. “Cut off my nose just to spite my face” anyways I’ve seen virtually no criticisms of this album so here’s my take. Swift’s ‘Lover’ comes almost two years after the dark and edgy ‘reputation’, which introduced us to a darker self, full of vengeful and savage moments. The start of the ‘Lover’ era (marked by the music video for lead single ‘Track 16: ME!’) saw a renewed and revitalized version of “the old Taylor” – pastel color schemes, butterflies instead of snakes, and a stronger and more confident woman who’s no longer afraid to speak out her truth. ‘Lover’ continues the love stories (no pun intended) found on ‘reputation’, where Swift now outwardly expresses her love for her man (and his country and culture as well) who lives across the Atlantic (‘Track 8: London Boy’), who’s been by her side for three summers now (‘Track 2: Cruel Summer, ‘Track 3: Lover’). In comparison to the older albums in her catalog, there’s a marked growth, increased clarity, and more depth in her song writing, which is undeniably her greatest asset and among the best of today’s pop stars. But it’s not just her relationship with Joe that she discusses – Swift mentions how this album is a “love letter to love itself”. From discussing the topic of parental love and heartbreak over a parent’s experience with cancer (‘Track 12: Soon You’ll Get Better’), to calling out the lack of love and support Swift, and all the women out there, receive because of their gender (‘Track 4: The Man’), to even criticizing all that has been engendered by Trump’s America, albeit via a metaphor of a high school (‘Track 7: Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince’), Swift has once again proven why she is The Pop Queen and is a force to be reckoned with. Simply put, ‘Lover’ is an upgraded version of ‘Red’ in terms of its themes, ‘Speak Now’ in terms of its songwriting, and ‘1989’ in terms of its production. ‘Lover’ is one of Swift’s greatest decisions in her 13-year career. One of her best albums to date, her starting out with I forgot you existed was such a badass move to all the people she talked about in reputation, not a single in the whole album, and then hearing daylight it's such a good end to an album, step into the daylight and let it go

A pure work of art. Each song has a focus on not just love's ups and downs but all types of relationships. From "The Man" to "Soon You'll Get Better" to "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince" Taylor's lyrical genius along with collaborations with producers makes this her best album yet.

Pop perfection and a full journey from start to finish. It's a combination of new sounds with sharp lyricism that never once trips on its feet.

Every song on Lover has a different story to tell but it still feels unified and connected and I think that's my favorite part about it. Bringing together different emotions on love, on hopefulness, on heartbreak, and on letting go and somehow tying them up together to make this masterpiece of an album. 15 years later and Taylor Swift continues to express everyone's feelings better thanEvery song on Lover has a different story to tell but it still feels unified and connected and I think that's my favorite part about it. The cohesiveness of this album drives me crazy!! I thought the singles would suck when the rest of the tracks are revealed, but I was wrong because even the weakest track Me! SOUNDED SOOOO GOOD in the album!

Taylor Swift is just a queen, she's made of GOLDEN, even more than RED. So, I think that in the first impression of the album was kinda OK, but the full body of work is amazing. THE BEST SONGWRITER OF MY GENERATION!!

I love how this album explores a range of love in its various forms. Every song is a different experience. There are songs that tug at your heart, songs that make you want to dance away the night, and songs put you at ease. Don't be disillusioned by the singles, this is an essential Taylor Swift album to listen to.

She wrote it mostly herself.. it sounds so new, but also so “Swiftly”.. one of her bests.. Cornelia Street is the best one

It’s an album that screams out for an editor, but when it hits the right notes, it demonstrates just why Taylor Swift is one of the biggest pop stars in the world.

Ultimately, Lover is overstuffed and meandering, but serves as a positive reprieve from her past struggles in the public eye, and represents an artist at the peak of her creativity, power, and—one hopes—continued romantic bliss.

Lover is a fabulous record, full of super-fun standout pop hits that make your heart burst. It oozes with Swift’s much more palatable upbeat sass. She’s in love and also thinking about different kinds of love.
