The melancholic album that is so emblematic of the times we’re living in. A poetic and mellifluous masterpiece that strikes right into the chasmic valleys of any soul who dares to listen. Truly a masterful piece of work, idyllic for anyone who enjoys rainy days and dreams of grey aesthetics. Magnificent.

It's Taylor Swift's best album, if not the best of the year. Through her compositions, she tells a love story between young people, which possibly reflects on her previous relationships. In a genuinely pure and sincere way. This is the most cohesive and mature album of Miss Americana. Taylor was the artist of the past decade and has a good chance of being this decade as well.

This is her best album, this genre complements her angelic voice with haunting and whimsical sound and her crystal clear storytelling. What to look for? This is her best!

This has been one of the best works that Taylor Swift has done in music, It was a bit risky to do that since his fans were used to pop and country mostly, but we are seeing that this "folklore" album is getting more acclaim than his other works.

This is the best 20 20 album ever. Taylor is a legend, folklore as well. It is not like a hit, not catch your ear, but it can into your heart and tell story for you. This is amazing.

Taylor Swift is well known for her crossover from Country to Pop. Under the shadow of global pandemic, Swift has set out once again to triumph in a new genre. Under the shadow of global pandemic, Swift has set out once again to triumph in a new genre. One that is hard to define, with the indie folk alternative vibes that don’t fit neatly into a box. Folklore is a musical triumph that transcends genre, forming its own unique singer/songwriter niche, and that niche, seemingly, is the one Taylor was born to occupy. The album is a whole unto itself and it belongs together. It’s a totally different musical experience from anything else Swift has ever written in the best possible way. I love it so much but have a hard time picking a favorite song because it’s just...a whole. Greater than the sum of its parts. The tracks interweave, spinning stories and pulling on invisible strings to tie her reality with her ability to craft an entire universe in a few short verses.

There has never been an album she put out that I didn’t love for its own merits, but there has also never been an album that seemed so complete, or so uniquely Taylor. She has been, for me, the songwriter of a generation. Folklore may finally help the rest of the world see it too. Because who else can take on so many disparate genres of music and not only succeed, but thrive, finally arriving at a place only she could go?

This album is truly Swift at her most meta. Folklore represents her most authentic songwriting and artistic self, as she embraces her storytelling and lyrical prowess. It reflects her ability to convey a myriad of emotions and perspectives through her words. This is Taylor Swift in her element--doing what she loves.

Taylor Swift has outdone herself over the last decade and a half, consistently creating masterpiece after masterpiece. In such an unprecedented time, Swift took the unprecedented-for-her method of a surprise drop and blew away Swifties, the general public, and critics with an indie masterpiece. “folklore” shows that Swift’s raw, unrivalled talent transcends all genres.

As a Swift fan since her first album (which I still have as a CD), this album is the most raw record she has ever released. Just when I thought Taylor couldn’t do any better, she releases this masterpiece! I absolutely love pop Taylor Swift but this venture into alternative is amazing! The lyrics are impeccable and her voice strong as ever. There’s not a bad song I can single out and I might have to say this is her best album yet, and that says a lot because 1989 has reigned supreme for me since it’s release.

It's just the same recycled stuff that she has been putting out since like 2011. A little originality really goes a long way.

It's a sharp turn to the left for Swift and a fine reminder that she is more than just a gleaming pop phenomenon, but a remarkable songwriter too. [Oct 2020, p.36]

A modern-folk masterpiece which finds her moving from her previous pop bangers into stunningly simple yet sharp melodies, ‘folklore’ will be going down in Swiftie history as one of her most unexpected, and undoubtedly one of her best.

These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
