As overrated as it is by many users, its still a lovely movie with some important massages. Lets be clear, its way better than Big Hero 6 or even Frozen, but still there are better animated films this year to win the oscar.

There are plenty of laughs for younger and older viewers alike, and the plot moves along at an acceptable pace. There are plot holes of course, and movie coincidences that drive the story forward. There are plenty of cliches, and if you are an experienced moviegoer, you probably will be able to predict everything that is going to happen. However, the movie is driven by characters, with strong voice performances from Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman. The characters are entertaining and charming, and your desire to follow their journey distracts you from some of the predictability. Additionally, the concept is fantastic. One of the better movies I have seen this year. Of course, this comes from the perspective of a lifelong Disney fan, and anthropomorphic animals are Disney's heart and soul. If you don't like Disney, you certainly won't like this movie. Expand

The new adventure of Disney not only surprises for its visual beauty also fascinates for its fast connectivity with history, Will be the project of animation of the year? Possibly.

Researched topics in the last work of Disney are nothing new, acceptance of a stranger in a new place (remember "Brooklyn"), fight for your dreams, everything is solved, admission and tolerance and others contained in films already has viewed. But despite its cliches bases, the producer always takes advantage of the tools and transforms it in a majestically visual and sentimental way.

Disney compensates for its lack of innovative themed with characters and scenarios detailed, beautiful and fatally real. Talking animals? Again, but this time as never seen before. They recreate a metropolis where the human race does not exist, mammals and carnivores coexist in an American atmosphere of the most fresh and thorough (curiously I can't to see a reptile, curious fact) where there are houses, buildings, thieves and police, a fox (Jason Bateman) a angry police (Idris Elba) and any other being of the Kingdom Animalia. "Zootopia" directed by two human Byron Howard ('Tangled') and Rich Moore ('Wreck - It Ralph'), is a film that shows its four years of preparation with its quality and effectiveness of expression, it is true that its two directors already have experience in animated films but this work breaks the limits of an excellent animation, which along with a series of elements manage to win its position in the ranking of the box office.

"If you can dream it, you can be it"

"Judy Hopps' (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a beautiful and brave bunny that decides to dream and fight for your precious sleep, then she graduated herself with honors from the Academy of police, she determines to leave the farm of her parents in 'Bunnyburrow' and go to the world's largest city "Zootopia" , there, she's assigned to the chief Bogo (Idris Elba) who entrusted you be a police of transit. She tired of being judged by their noble and harmless appearance traits, she'll solve the mythical question of wild animals with a mischievous and manipulative fox (Jason Bateman), with whom formed a fun relationship and will discover the dark truth.

The great attraction of the film is its visual inventiveness, which is shown in the representation of each friendly or angry animal put on screen, accompanied of large real environments as entire cities (film not wasted no chance, showing woods, metropolis, museums, farms and snow), police adventure of these two friends is more majestic due to this, really this factor is its charm. Directors Byron Howard and Rich Moore have worked for Disney before, in "Tangled" and "Wreck-It Ralph", but in "Zootopia" is where is that youth side and references of the current culture to highlight this project. The duo Nick and Judy is already indelible because their connectivity is surprisingly fast (more or less before going to see the movie) and the development of the case has its magic.

"Zootopia" may lack of originality in his final plot but the extravagant amount of animals with distinct personalities and its wonderful environments are a direct play to the children audience, not leaving aside to the adult public which gives them jokes and a legendary scene from "The Godfather". Disney has begun the year with right foot, leaving a film with teaching of tolerating and fight for your dreams with lots of the audiovisual quality. "Finding Dory" have to be perfect to snatch the title to "Zootopia" for the best film of the year. Having animals, Who want more movies of human?

I remember seeing the advertisements for this movie and thinking 'That looks like garbage. I will never go see that.'

Boy did they prove me wrong...

This is how you make a family movie. Not a kids movie, a family movie. Because there is something in here for everyone. I'm a college student and I liked this lots.

The story starts off pretty predictably with the usual 'ambitious protagonist who dreams big' but starts twisting and turning in some pretty interesting ways once the real plot gets going. It's not winning an award for best mystery or anything, but it's better then the usual garbage scripts that kids movies get. It has a bit of an edge and really earns that PG rating, but I would still show it to my kids, if I had any... (There are a few scenes that are pretty intense, and a not so subtle reference to illegal drugs.) If i had to say, anyone older than 8 or 9 will probably make it through this movie no problem.

The makes a lot of reference to racial equality and what not. (The city has different districts for different animals just like a real city has different districts for different ethnic groups.) I'm sure there are a lot of really clever and subtle references like that hidden all over the place, and if I were to watch this movie a few more times, I would probably get up to a 9 or 10. I applaud the writers and director for doing such a good job at attempting to explore these sorts of things in a children's movie. Everyone else, take notes.

And it's not furry pandering garbage (I would know, I have friends that are furries), so people need to stop pegging it as such. Kung fu Panda has anthropomorphic animals and nobody trash talks those movies. This movie was about inequality, so get with the program and stop branding it based on its cover. There might be a teeny tiny little bit of furry pandering in there somewhere, but if you're not into that, it's so subtle that you'll probably miss it anyway.

Production, animation and such was really nice too. Soundtrack wasn't really memorable though.

One other thing is the use of technology and social media in the movie. While it makes the society relatable, once this movie starts to age, people are going to be able to date it instantly.

What I'd really like to see is a movie that talks about gender identity like this...

I didn't know whether I was going to come out of the theater with a smile or a frown on my face. Zootopia was a great film! It's plot is very creative and unique that I was so fascinated by it's atmosphere; a New York City transformation into a more animal-like environment. In addition, the protagonist, Judy Hopps' conflicts that she struggles with are very emotional and deep. This creates a more intense experience for a animated film that only possesses a "PG" by the MPAA.

I think Zootopia is up for an Oscar nomination for "best animated film," or maybe something better! This is definately one of the years best films so far.

Deutsche Review – Kritik

Charaktere:

Super gemacht Disney.

Bildbearbeitung:

Die Darstellung ist atemberaubend. Man sieht überall kleine Details.

84/100

SomeOne great thing I like Zootopia is that it emphasizes the racial differences between its characters and addresses discrimination and prejudice. These themes on this movie are so critical to be included in an animation film like this. Some adults, when they first see this movie will think that it is an another "for children and teenagers" movie because of it's characters being anthropomorphic (animals behaving/acting as humans) and obviously an animated feature film; but it is much more than that, the movie will deliver a meaningful message about these strong themes and main ideas that will have a significant impact into a "socially aware" viewer's perception of racial differences.

Kids and teenagers will benefit greatly in the animation for this movie thanks to its wonderful characters along with their voice actors/actresses, amazing animation, and an energetic rhythm, that seems to be emanating from the film because of its vivid animation, which adds excitement and enjoyment while watching.

The setting of the movie is vibrant and admirable because of its pretty advanced architectural designs which is hard to be animated, in my opinion. I mean look at the design of some buildings in the movie primarily the windows and other glass structures, they sparkle when the sunlight reaches them. The complexity of animating these features are worth noting for. The scope of the area of Zootopia in the movie adds admiration for some viewers and of course, for myself; because of its diversity and relevance to a modern-day New York City or Los Angeles.

The main soundtrack "Try Everything" from Shakira is great. It adds excitement and hype for the movie as the music plays and the film explores the city from different angles to discover it's unique landmarks and tourist spots. The two main characters, Judy (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick (voiced by Jason Bateman) are admirable as well along with their chemistry. I like the personality of Nick Wilde in the movie because he tends to be quick-witted and intelligent which transcends the film to be fast-paced on some scenes.

Overall, a very recommended movie for everyone. This will surprise. A very strong and formidable Oscar contender for the year Zootopia is released.

It's not a masterpiece, nor a terrible movie, it's not obnoxious and annoying like an Illumination movie by any means, but it's far from Disney's best work. I will not deny that Zootopia, the city, actually feels like another character. It is filled with creative concepts and ideas. The animation is great, as expected from Disney and the characters are filled with tons of personality thanks to creative character design. They aren't cute for the sake of being cute nor look like generic animal characters like some other animated movie with cute animals that came out the same year (CofcofSingcofcof) and the story actually takes advantage of the fact that they are animals. Also, this is a really funny movie. I always have a blast with this movie everytime I watch it, there are so many genuinely funny moments that I really enjoyed. Nick and Judy, the main characters, have a great dynamic, and are so fun to watch together. For the most part it is well written...For the most part, I said. My problems with this movie are with the script. The social commentary and the racism allegories are soooo on the nose and obvious, you might think that "it's okay because it's a kids movie", but I disagree, because there are kids movies with subtle social commentary and parallels to the real world, like Chicken Run, I mean it's not like they had a character explain to the audience that they are in a concentration camp or something, and that is how Zootopia feels. It gets so on the nose at one point that it becomes cheesy instead of shocking. I was also not a really big fan of some obvious furry pandering stuff, like the animal nudist club scene or the weirdly sensual dancing tigers at the dancing number at the end, those moments were awkward...Speaking about that, I hated the ending, it was so cringeworthy. It ended great but no...They needed a dance scene, because that is DEFINETLY not an animated kids movie cliché!

Overall, I don't hate this movie. It's pretty good actually, but definetly not a great movie. I agree with people that say that it didn't deserve the Oscar, it should've gone to Moana, which is a far superior film in almost every aspect. Regardless, Zootopia is one of the better modern Disney films, I mean, at least it's better than Frozen, Big Hero 6 and Ralph Breaks the Internet

Yes, the stellar animation pairs well with the brilliantly-conceptualized world and creative characters, but it's the film's thematic efforts that truly aid it in standing apart from all the other talking-animal romps. The allegorical lessons on prejudice are potent, yet still easy for kids to digest, even if some of humanity's racial politics don't transfer as cleanly over to the animal kingdom. "Zootopia" is a smart, fun, and fittingly challenging ride. Expand

A surprisingly deep movie dealing with some rather delicate issues. Surprising to see in this kind of movie.

Animation is beautiful, however I did feel that the scene rushed by so quickly that allot of the details were easily overlooked (kind of like a hyperactive child running around a toy store.) If a sequel is made, they should let the scenes linger a bit. But still, it was great.

The main characters are very likable and well developed. Side characters are good, but not given enough relevance to be more than plot device or passing jokes.

Story is a bit predictable and has been done countless times before. Still, it was presented well and enjoyable.

Overall:
Zootopia/Zootropolis (no idea why it was renamed in other territories) is a charming movie whose only real innovation was the anthropomorphised world. Little else new. Regardless, it was fun to watch and tackled some deep issues giving the movie some heart.

The city of Zootopia is a mammal metropolis place where various animals live and thrive. Ginnifer Goodwin plays Judy Hopps, she's the first rabbit to join the police force, she learns how tough it is to enforce the law. Determined to prove herself, she jumps to the opportunity to solve a mystery case. Unfortunately, that means working with Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a wily fox who's a con-artist makes her job more harder. I think this movie has something to say, it has a strong political message also has things to say about drugs and all sorts of stuff. But I found it too bland. 2.8 out of 4 stars Expand

There were plenty of funny scenes and characters and I found myself surprisingly entertained despite rolling my eyes at some of the messages that were not necessary nor representative of reality. But if you ignore the juvenile politics, there is some funny writing in here as the story revolved around a stary-eyed bunny cop who wants to make the world better but ends up making things worse due to not being as smart as she thinks she is. Luckily she encounters a wise Fox who had lost hope in society but found it again through his bunny counterpart. The go around town interacting with other animals to solve a crime and get into trouble along the way and it was fun to watch since the movie does not take itself very seriously. A good move over all. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had heard of all of the critical praise that this film was getting so I decided to check it out for myself not too long ago. When I walked out of the theater though, I felt that the praise was unwarranted. As time went on though, I reexamined my thoughts and came to the conclusion that even though it is not groundbreaking masterpiece as some critics say it is, I still think it is a good film in it's own right despite a few missteps. The most admirable thing about this film is the social commentary in regards to the modern issue of racism. At first I thought that it wasn't touched up on enough but I realized that it was purposeful to show how subtle racism is nowadays. The social commentary was obvious but it didn't feel overbearing like how a lot of lesser films who tackle this same subject manner handle it. The world also has impressive attention to detail about how the animals move and what the daily life in the city is like. Each district such as the tundra district and the rain-forest district give some pretty impressive visuals in their design. The plot does follow some predictable trends though like the misunderstanding trope and the buddy cop and the heroes falling out. The characters with a few notable exceptions don't really evolve out of their character archetypes but they are still likeable and are developed enough to have the audience root for them. One of the biggest stumbling blocks though was the surprise villain who was revealed to be the sheep secretary. I understand the purpose of this twist in order to critique the notion of extremism and those who wish to fight "race- traitors". However I felt this twist didn't work since it felt out of left field and it wasn't built up earlier in the narrative. This concept worked in "Frozen" because it told children about the dangers of being too trusting and there were some subtle clues about Han's true intentions. Despite falling into cliches and having a very predictable plot, "Zootopia" will keep you intrigued and will entertain your children if you are looking for a fun and sometimes thought-provoking family friendly experience. This movie was quite good, and I would recommend it if you enjoy animation

Pros
- Excellent design and animation
- Great world building and imagination, as well as the layout and composition of the shots
-Touched some important themes that need to be talked about today

Cons
- Very predictable, and follows a very standard formula, risking nothing and doing nothing particularly original or unique
-Emphasis of the soundtrack in certain scenes takes you out of the movie rather than helping immersion
-The audio mixing sounds exactly the same wherever they are, with little variation with the volume of the characters voices depending on the scenery, I know this does not matter to most people, but Fantastic Mr Fox had a lower budget than this movie and still remembered to do it, so Zootopia has no excuse
- No foreshadowing of the twist, I watched this movie twice in theaters and the second time I made sure to read all the background notes and keep subtext in mind, but there was nothing, as a result the twist feels rather thrown in

Comedy isn't anything cringe-inducing and it's a genuinely fun watch. Characters are well designed and the world they reside in feels quite large.

The political messages were obvious and felt a bit forced, but I suppose in a universe with nothing but animals living in one city, they couldn't not take the chance to engage in some fantastical racism. That's all well and good but they try so hard to tie it into today's problems which I feel are more complicated than what they exemplify in Zootopia. Then again, all the tension and conflict between the city's people resulted from an international conspiracy via the government..hmmm....

Well regardless, it's a decent movie and will probably get a sequel. It's got my blessings.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

It picks the prejudices it wants to deal with and mostly sticks to those, while also undermining those same messages by reducing many others to those same kinds of stereotyping (rednecks, Italian mafioso, etc) and there doesn't seem to be any indication this is intentional or meant as subversiveness.

Maybe it doesn't matter that much, this movie isn't meant to be a deep and thorough undertaking but it still hurts the film when its messages are blatantly obvious and screamed in your face and then slyly ignored when there's plot needed and a joke to be had.

The rest of it is pretty standard modern animated pop-culturally aware farce.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The latest animation from Disney takes place in a world where all animals get along, even preditors and prey (insert continuous message about diversity and acceptance here). A young rabbit (Ginnifer Goodwin) becomes the first cop of her species and sets out for the big city to rise above preconceptions about her timid type (more message). She teams up with a scam artist (Justin Bateman) to solve a big case. While this starts out as an innovative concept with some lovely animation and weirdly anthropomorphic characters, it eschews much humor to become a police procedural (with the message continually inserted). There are some amusing moments (most notably the sloths at DVM), but it's too serious and not clever enough to rate as Disney's best. Expand

Visually, it's a treat. Storytelling-wise, it doesn't live up to the hype.

The problem with this film is that it's trying to be both a "message" movie and a film noir detective mystery type deal. But the fact that it's so strongly a "message" movie robs the detective element of all its suspense. The two main characters are likable but nobody else really registers. This is a SJW movie about discrimination, racism, tolerance, etc., but the dialogue is dry and the humor is still very basic - it's stereotypical and often animal-based (sloths are slow, cops eat donuts, rabbits breed immensely fast [a joke they milk repeatedly], etc). There are only two vaguely funny scenes, and one was spoiled in an early trailer and wears out its welcome as you're watching it.

I really don't see why there's so much love and hype for this. Sure the art and animation are great, but the characters are nothing special, plus the story was predictable and followed the beats of any other police movie. There isn't much that I really enjoyed. The world-building hardly even makes sense. Who decided to build this big city with ridiculously different climates rather than just building multiple cities? What does the metropolis produce for the rest of the world? What do the predators eat if not the herbivores/omnivores? Why do the little critters have their mini-city of Little Rodentia in THE MIDDLE of this vast metropolis? If this is a kids' movie, why are there dark scenes where a mafioso modeled after Don Corleone (very original, guys) threatens characters with torture and death (and the second time around he has the approval of the main characters, who are standing around with grins on their faces)?

Also there's that yawn-inducing procedural trope where a character is about to reveal EVERYTHING but succumbs to a fit of violence, only to artificially increase the level of intrigue at play. When the answer to the "night terrors" question presents itself it's out of nowhere and should have been something these smartphone-using animals could have looked up in 2 seconds. There's a lot of hare-brained storytelling decisions made here.

Not to mention much of the movie drags on with a seemingly endless amount of familiar empowerment tropes. The only thing that saves the film from completely collapsing under the weight of its cheerless social justice mission is the way Judy and Nick are written and the banter they share. Honestly... just because this makes some people and movie critics feel better about themselves doesn't change the fact that it's just an OK Disney movie. If it changed your life, good for you. But don't pretend it's some kind of masterpiece.

I must say watching this with my son I was very entertained, that said the lofty moral concepts it discusses dont seem to fit into the screenplay comfortably leading to some very akward dialogue between (entirely anthropomorphised cg animals in clothes).... Seems like it tried too hard to go to deep with its concept and misses the opportunity to better motivate and flesh out the secondary characters.... That being said, you'd have to be having a bad day not to enjoy watching this one with your kids!

The idea that predators are bad and they somehow have a deeper more animal character behind them. It raises the question of, if they're predators, what do they eat? And how come nobody knows about the animal like behavior? even though it's recorded in history. Does this mean that predators evolved much later than herbivores? and also why would they sell mammal rugs? They just skin other animals and sell them as decorations?

Overall though the characters are likable and enjoyable. The struggles they have to deal with make the audience relate with them in some way, the animation is solid and the variety in the environment is breathtaking. It's just a shame they didn't put a lot of time into the film and it just seemed rushed.

The "IT'S GONNA GO FAST... or not" and the "We are so sneaky I'm making up signs you don't understand" jokes are getting old.

It didn't feel magic like a Disney movie should and it's not nostalgia speaking, there's some great recent animated movies out there (from Disney/Pixar and others).

With Zootopia, I was seeing the writing and it broke the immersion. You can't really reinvent the basic story plan but the viewers shouldn't see that on screen. Like "Cue the emotional moment!" and such. It felt rushed. Which is sad because the intention and the basic idea behind the movie were good.

The characters were okay but simple. The strongest point of the movie is the animation for Mrs. Otterton. They made her believable and the emotions felt real.

If you want a no-brainer family movie it does the job, but to the fans of animation: don't expect too much.

I can understand where the hype is coming from, but the final praise is baffling to me. It's Frozen 2, really. A summer shovelware marketed well.

Characters are likeable, the visuals are neat, but the plot is really bland, uninspired and lacks an ultimate message, like all Disney's classics do. It's just a simple buddy story with some cringe-inducing multicultural vibes, where even the main theme is absurdly miscasted and contradicts our main protagonist, which in fact DOESN'T want to do or experience everything and is stubborn to the very end to achieve one and the only goal in her life, blind to everyone else. In fact, it's so bland it couldn't normally be made into a full-timed movie, so the screenwriters helped themselves shoveling as much pop references as they could. Almost an every single scene is a reference to something I got sick of it after 30 minutes and seriously thought of walking out at the God-awful Godfather scene. It's not a Zootopia it's Pop-Reference: A Furry Motion Picture. Well, gotta fill the screen time with something. The plot pacing is slow, filled with pop-reference filled filler scenes, that I was constantly bored throughout the entire movie. Yeah, I had few laughs here and there, it's a pretty funny and clever with jokes (we're good at multiplying), but not always (a fur of a skunk joke). Ultimately, I was wasted at the end of the movie. Instead of thinking "holy cow, that was awesome", I thought "Christ, finally it's over".
Overall, really disappointing. A typical Disney shovelware.

However, it fails to communicate meaningful messages to younger audiences. More alarmingly though, Zootopia misrepresents the fundamental nature of racism and produces a story which is grossly irrelevant in the modern sense. Zootopia ignores the institutional and structural ways in which racism is perpetuated in modern areas, instead presenting a sort of whitewashed 80s-era "we stopped hating people of color" mindset. You know what was racially good? Princess and the Frog. Moana. Other BETTER Disney movies. While Nick Wile was a funny character, I HATED Judy. Same with Gazelle. And pretty much every other character, except maybe Mr. Big. Also, the bad guy was LAME. Also, everybody who likes this movie is just like "The Loud House is dumb because of potty humor." Might I remind you that in this movie they go to a nudist organization? But yeah, that's totally not potty humor. Anyway, Kubo and the Two Strings deserved the oscar WAY more than this film. And honestly, I'd watch any other disney movie besides Hocus Pocus over this. Expand

The movie is very pretty. Sadly, that's the only thing positive I feel I can confidently say about it. The premise revolves a buddy cop duo trying to solve a crime while using the power of trying not to be racist.

The movie is very pretty. Sadly, that's the only thing positive I feel I can confidently say about it. The premise revolves a buddy cop duo trying to solve a crime while using the power of trying not to be racist.

When it comes to the plot of the movie, it's about as cookie cutter as you could possibly get with a kids buddy cop movie. The two main characters wander around town, looking for clues from punchline characters. Like the sloths at the DMV, or the little mobster rat. They only function as jokes to move the plot forward and don't feel like real characters. Then to top off the cookie cutter plot, we end with yet another Scooby Doo villain twist that the new Disney movies seem to be fond of.

Now the message of the movie is fine an all. But it's so repeatedly over-preachy and hypocritical. The main character Judy blurts out constant exposition about not discriminating against others and how we should all be accepting. You will literally hear lines as blatant and forced as "Gideon was a jerk that happened to be a fox. I know plenty of bunnies who are jerks." or of course, the obvious "A bunny can call another bunny cute, but when other animals do it, it's kinda..." Yeah it's that bad. Then for as "non-racist" as Judy tries to make herself seem, she ends up being pretty freaking racist. Complaining about the slow sloths or pulling out her fox repellent when her partner, Nick, gives a very unconvincing scare.

The bland plot and stupidly shove down our throats message could easily be overlooked if the cast of characters were enjoyable. Sadly this isn't the case. Aside from the main duo, Judy and Nick, you won't be seeing anyone three-dimensional or developed. Like I mentioned previously, nearly all the side characters we see exist for nothing more than a gag. The characters who do serve a purpose have no development and just flip flop all over the place. Judy's racist parents for example. Throughout the entire movie they warn her about foxes and don't change until the the plot needs Judy to succeed. All of a sudden Gideon Grey is here out of nowhere, says "night howlers" and then vanishes again for the rest of the movie. Other characters who hated Judy like Chief Bogo, only change when the plot demands it. Instead of being sparked and learning to admire Judy overtime based on her determination, he only decides "Oh, I like her now" because she solved the crime and the plot demands for it.

The animation I can be very positive about though. It's fun and creative, and creates a world in which only these characters could live in. Zootopia has everything you could possibly imagine for these animals. Trains with different sized doors and separate districts in the city for rodents and other small animals are just a couple of the interesting things you'll find. The furs and other textures on the characters all look remarkable and very well done.

Overall, Zootopia may look nice on the outside, but the two characters we're stuck with do nothing but force a message down our throat and then hypocritically contradict themselves. They don't set a good example for the obvious message they try too desperately to get across. The consequences for this being that it makes the only two main protagonists we're stuck with seem unlikable as they don't even heed their own words. The animation is spectacular, but that's the only good thing that can be said. With a Scooby Doo plot, bland cast of characters, a hammered into the ground moral, and at least some sparkly visuals, Zootopia wouldn't be anything I'd recommend anytime soon.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was invested in this movie for the first two thirds, then by the third act I just wanted the movie to end.
The first few trailers seem like they were made for a different movie(Judy had a tranquilizer gun that's not in the movie and Nicks' aggression towards Judy, was implied to be based on his instincts which they are not).
About 8 minutes into the movie we get this movies "red herring villain". like in Frozen and Big Hero 6 (two other movies made by the same people) we are also introduced to the surprise villain, who was included just so there could be a twist reveal. I figured out who the "real" villain was 8 minutes into the movie, not because it made sense that this character was the villain, but because the writers have done this for the third time in a row.
After Judy becomes a police officer, she arrives at Zootopia where we are introduced to a stereotype of a fat cop who call Judy "cute". Judy's response was "only other bunnies can call bunnies cute" which is supposedly about how some people use derogative terms in a friendly manner, and get offended when someone else uses it. The movie never address the problems of using derogative terms in a friendly manner, it just wanted to make a joke.
Judy begins an investigation about missing animals to prove her worth as a cop, and tries to acquire the help of a reluctant witness, Nick a con artist fox.(Who is suppose to be a "don't judge a book by its cover" character, except it turns out her first judgment of him being a crook was right.) By blackmailing him, which the movie tries to make it look like she out smarted him, but makes her look like a crooked cop. Even though she is suppose to be a naïve cop.
After awhile the two become unlikely partners, and find the missing animals who were being taken away because they, for some unknown reason became savage. This is where the movie lost it for me, as Judy makes a statement to the press in which she suggests the that the reason the animals went savage might be, because of "their biology as predators" something she heard from doctors. Nick then reacts as if he has never heard this idea before (which he has several times) and accuses Judy of being prejudice against predators (even though the movie has establish she isn't) and 'Nick' told Judy to make the press statement. Nick pretends to attack Judy to justify his point, in which she reacts by reaching for her fox repellant (something that cops in Zootopia can apparently use). This come off as Nick over reacting, because at this point no one knows why predators are going savage and in an early scene Nick was running away from a predator that went savage,he should be afraid that might happen to him, or at least question why it was happening.
This made me roll my eyes because I knew the writer forced this fight, just to have them make up later. Judy shocked by how her statement to the press has divided the city, quits being a cop. The character who defiantly became a cop when everyone including her parents said she couldn't, just quits instead of trying to help. Our Hero.
Of course Judy finds out a plant is the cause behind the animals going savage, from her father talking about the same plant they grow on the family farm. That Judy some how doesn't know about, yet is knowledgeable about farming. Again feels like the writers trying to make the film longer.
And finally in the last act Judy apologizes to Nick, Judy threatens a crook with death by the mob to get infomation, the twist villain is revealed (which I hoped the movie wouldn't do) whose motivation is a basic villain plan. They stop the villain Nick becomes a cop (even though he wanted to be in the scouts) and the movie finally ends.

The movie tries to talk about prejudice but feels very disingenuous, it feels like the movie was made to appeal to people that blame stuff on racial hate. Judy and Nick have no chemistry, they are only friends at the end because the script said so. Its well animated but not that interesting visually, felt like a mundane trip around the city most of the movie.

It only exists as a means for Disney to push an agenda on the current generation to politically radicalise them into leftism. The characters were plain at best and the comedy often fell flat or was cringe inducing at the worst of scenes. The movie hardly deserved the praise it received from the public for being "a kids movie tackling important societal issues", when it shouldn't have relied on being political to be a good kids movie. The only positive thing about this film is its well done CGI. That's it. Expand

I found it bored, with a very trivial message, very short, some funny jokes but lack of creativity, I don't really understand how this movie has a hight review.

This movie made a generation of kids I'm scared of. Kids who grew up watching this strike fear into my soul. The dreaded... FURRY! *Lighting strikes. The movie itself? It's alright.
