It only exists as a means for Disney to push an agenda on the current generation to politically radicalise them into leftism. The characters were plain at best and the comedy often fell flat or was cringe inducing at the worst of scenes. The movie hardly deserved the praise it received from the public for being "a kids movie tackling important societal issues", when it shouldn't have relied on being political to be a good kids movie. The only positive thing about this film is its well done CGI. That's it. Expand

So Predictable. Obviously she overcomes every obstacle and saves the day. I saw that coming a mile away.

Filled with eye-candy for the children, this film is symptomatic, more than an actual cinematographic piece that will surely be forgotten as the references it relies, gel blurred through generations.

I found it bored, with a very trivial message, very short, some funny jokes but lack of creativity, I don't really understand how this movie has a hight review.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was invested in this movie for the first two thirds, then by the third act I just wanted the movie to end.
The first few trailers seem like they were made for a different movie(Judy had a tranquilizer gun that's not in the movie and Nicks' aggression towards Judy, was implied to be based on his instincts which they are not).
About 8 minutes into the movie we get this movies "red herring villain". like in Frozen and Big Hero 6 (two other movies made by the same people) we are also introduced to the surprise villain, who was included just so there could be a twist reveal. I figured out who the "real" villain was 8 minutes into the movie, not because it made sense that this character was the villain, but because the writers have done this for the third time in a row.
After Judy becomes a police officer, she arrives at Zootopia where we are introduced to a stereotype of a fat cop who call Judy "cute". Judy's response was "only other bunnies can call bunnies cute" which is supposedly about how some people use derogative terms in a friendly manner, and get offended when someone else uses it. The movie never address the problems of using derogative terms in a friendly manner, it just wanted to make a joke.
Judy begins an investigation about missing animals to prove her worth as a cop, and tries to acquire the help of a reluctant witness, Nick a con artist fox.(Who is suppose to be a "don't judge a book by its cover" character, except it turns out her first judgment of him being a crook was right.) By blackmailing him, which the movie tries to make it look like she out smarted him, but makes her look like a crooked cop. Even though she is suppose to be a naïve cop.
After awhile the two become unlikely partners, and find the missing animals who were being taken away because they, for some unknown reason became savage. This is where the movie lost it for me, as Judy makes a statement to the press in which she suggests the that the reason the animals went savage might be, because of "their biology as predators" something she heard from doctors. Nick then reacts as if he has never heard this idea before (which he has several times) and accuses Judy of being prejudice against predators (even though the movie has establish she isn't) and 'Nick' told Judy to make the press statement. Nick pretends to attack Judy to justify his point, in which she reacts by reaching for her fox repellant (something that cops in Zootopia can apparently use). This come off as Nick over reacting, because at this point no one knows why predators are going savage and in an early scene Nick was running away from a predator that went savage,he should be afraid that might happen to him, or at least question why it was happening.
This made me roll my eyes because I knew the writer forced this fight, just to have them make up later. Judy shocked by how her statement to the press has divided the city, quits being a cop. The character who defiantly became a cop when everyone including her parents said she couldn't, just quits instead of trying to help. Our Hero.
Of course Judy finds out a plant is the cause behind the animals going savage, from her father talking about the same plant they grow on the family farm. That Judy some how doesn't know about, yet is knowledgeable about farming. Again feels like the writers trying to make the film longer.
And finally in the last act Judy apologizes to Nick, Judy threatens a crook with death by the mob to get infomation, the twist villain is revealed (which I hoped the movie wouldn't do) whose motivation is a basic villain plan. They stop the villain Nick becomes a cop (even though he wanted to be in the scouts) and the movie finally ends.

The movie tries to talk about prejudice but feels very disingenuous, it feels like the movie was made to appeal to people that blame stuff on racial hate. Judy and Nick have no chemistry, they are only friends at the end because the script said so. Its well animated but not that interesting visually, felt like a mundane trip around the city most of the movie.

This movie made a generation of kids I'm scared of. Kids who grew up watching this strike fear into my soul. The dreaded... FURRY! *Lighting strikes. The movie itself? It's alright.

Has a brilliant tomato score and critics but wow, I found it really a chore to get through. It was not for me. Character designs not for me. Just seemed a bit boring actually.
