The film was, in all fairness, a resounding commercial and critical success, in addition to having a pertinent story about prejudices and stereotypes.

The story centers on Judy Hopps, a rabbit that goes to the big city with the dream of joining the Police. But things are not easy: she is small in a universe of strong and large animals, and her companions don't take her seriously, even when she gets her first arrest. Thus, she volunteers to investigate the missing of Emmit Otterton, one among several Zootopia inhabitants who has vanished. For that, she will count on the forced collaboration of a swindler, crafty fox named Nick Wilde. And she will have to be quick, because her commander has imposed a deadline for her to present results or to resign from the force.

In addition to being magnificently elaborated and animated, this film has a really good story with a pedagogical and humanistic background, insofar as it teaches us to disbelieve prejudices and preconceived ideas, as only strong men serve for the Police or Army, or all foxes are swindlers. There are so many ideas like that in our society (all blondes are unintelligent, all Frenchmen hate bathing, all Russians drink too much...) and all are unfair or unfounded prejudices. In addition to this moralizing message, the film is entertaining with good doses of comedy (the scenes with the sloths are anthological) and an engaging and interesting mystery surrounding the animals that disappeared.

In addition to the characters being truly adorable, the film has a very competent voice cast, and the synchronization between animations and voices is perfect. Personally, I really liked the contributions of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Raymond S. Persi and Maurice LaMarche, the latter with an excellent imitation of Marlon Brando's hoarse voice. Musical moments are also present due to the unmistakable voice of Shakira, who was also entitled to give life to a character: the slender superstar Gazelle. It suits her!

Technically, the film makes an impact due to the superb quality of animations and visual effects. Colorful, it was so clearly designed and beautifully edited an mixed that animations and characters took on an almost palpable realism. The conception of that city, with all its distinct but interconnected biomes allowing a better perception of how animals connect to their natural environment, also deserves an applause. Finally, I have to praise to Michael Giacchino's excellent soundtrack and the original song “Try Everything”.

this is by far the 3D animation that I fell in love with, I've always been more sympathetic to Disney movies than Pixar's, but Zootopia has been able to please me more than the many insurmountable classics of my childhood.
A movie to watch with anyone and made for all ages, is rich in detail, has a beautiful graphic and soundtrack, and several interesting characters; I sympathized with Nick Wilde too much.
It's a movie that I did not feel like watching at the time, but it surprised me a lot.
I come to write this today, but I watched the film still in 2016, and I celebrated the Oscar of better animation, much deserved in my opinion.
Zootopia is the newest Disney classic

Why Zootopia is revolutionary and should be taught in film school ================================================================

1. The way they created and designed the city.

2. Using colors and deliberately simple animation not just to make the movie appeal to children, but also to indicate the so-called ideal city where every animal is pure and innocent.

3. Blending more than genre in a single animated film while keeping the plot spotless and not messy.

4. Delivering many contemporary messages that have never been in animated movies before, and all that without making us feel confused or muddled.

5. Using the on-the-surface message (achieve one's ambition) as a characteristic of the main character (Judy Hopps), not as the actual main message. That makes this message works as a motive not as a major theme in the movie as in ,for instance, Wreck-It Ralph (I LOVE it though ♥).

6. Avoiding being over-sentimental although Nick's character could have been easily used to manipulate our feelings.

Zootopia exposes some of the major prejudices in today's society with an incredible "plot twist". A very mature animated movie. A must-see for all the kids (and grown-ups).

The Best Film Of The Year, So Far.

From the studio that brought you Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen & Big Hero 6, Zootopia surfaces as a highly original, incredibly refreshing, thoroughly engaging, surprisingly timely & delightfully subversive beast fable about prejudice & stereotype that not only marks a new creative high for Disney but is arguably the finest film that this legendary animation studio has come up with in their Revival Era, so far.

Set in a world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals, the story of Zootopia takes place in the titular metropolis and follows a bunny cop named Judy Hopps who, despite her par excellent performance in the class, is assigned parking duty by her superior. But when she volunteers to undertake a missing-predator case, she is given 48 hours to solve the mystery or resign, following which she blackmails a sly fox into helping her, and uncovers a sinister conspiracy.

Co-directed by Byron Howard & Rich Moore, the duo put up an intriguing world on the screen that does have a fresh quality but there is still a deep sense of familiarity to it. However, where the two leave a lasting impression is in finding that perfect balance between its consistently gripping storyline & moments of pure hilarity. The writing staff also deserves a mention, for their screenplay brims with numerous pop culture references, parodies many renowned classics & handles its topical themes with care.

The 3D animation is absolutely top-notch, for the images retain its crispness, clarity & vibrancy from beginning to end. The animators put up a vast number of characters on the screen, ranging from the largest elephant to the smallest shrew, yet they are all given a well-defined arc. Cinematography further enhances the overall look n feel of the story with its fluid camera-work, splendid use of colour palette & spot-on lighting. Editing provides just enough screen time to all the relevant characters while moving the plot forward at a blistering pace.

The cast is wisely chosen, and all the actors do a competent job in lending their voice & soul to the mammals they play. Ginnifer Goodwin brings a bubbly side to the new cop in town and confidently plays her role. Jason Bateman plays his part with finesse plus his voice really fits his cynical con artist character. Also, the chemistry between the two is a highlight in itself. Michael Giacchino's ebullient score seamlessly blends in & compliments the narrative while Shakira beautifully wraps everything up with a catchy, uplifting & wonderful song that smartly summarises its themes & message.

On an overall scale, Zootopia finds Disney stepping out of its comfort zone to tackle a bold, ambitious & risky project, and it is one gamble that pays off tremendously well in the studio's favour. Also, its arrival couldn't have been better, considering how its elements of prejudice & stereotypes mirror the racial hostilities present in our very own current social environment. An ingenious blend of sophisticated storytelling, jubilant humour & thought-provoking themes that amazes, entertains & enlightens without ever compromising with the fun factor, Zootopia is a definite delight for viewers of all ages, and is undoubtedly the best film of the year, so far. Strongly recommended.

Disney is always surprising me with its great animated movies. It's really has a very good elements to add of its movies, that I didn't find them in any other animated movie.
The most important element is the surprising element. It really got me in this movie, it was really effective.
The second element is the animation, it was absolutely perfect.
The third is comedy, it was really hilarious.
The fourth is the action sequences, it was really amazing and talented.
The fifth is the cast (voices), it was very talented and they are just voices, they really got me closer to the movie and they are just voices.
The sixth is never get bored of watching it, I watched it 26 times and never got bored of it!
It really deserves A+.

The Greatest Animated Movie of All Time!

This movie is an absolute masterpiece, not only because its wonderful way that gives its many messages in; but also because the importance of its messages in themselves and how smart they are and relevant to nowadays, and also how much the children really need these morals nowadays. Also, it's beautifully animated and the talented cast voices suit their characters perfectly. It has a plenty of funny scenes which we didn't watch before in any animated movie or even a live-action movie. This movie is like a comedy-adventure-action-crime movie and despite that it never made the viewers feel confused while watching it. The characters are definitely the most complicated characters I've ever seen in an animated movie, each character has its own point of view due to the experiences they get through and that makes each character has different motives and feelings.

It tackles a large number of social issues (racism, bullying, prejudice, sexism, inequality, stereotyping, etc.). Zootopia's world is inhabited by two main groups of mammals: predators and preys. The beautiful thing about this movie is that it depicts racism and prejudice in a very "equal" way: predators and preys do not correspond to any human race existing on this planet. The directors and the staff have been very sensitive and clever in my opinion for doing that. It gives the movie a sense of universality. This movie is plenty of details, references, puns, etc. It is definitely very funny, entertaining and the computer graphics are just stunning. The movie also has sad/emotional scenes and that makes you feel empathy towards the main characters, Judy and Nick (who are simply AMAZING), but they also help create a bond between them. The message at the end of this film also had a huge impact on me. It may sound cliché but it is definitely beautiful and praiseworthy. One last thing, I highly highly highly recommend this movie to both kids and (especially) adults (but also teenagers XD)! Expand

The first time I saw it, it was coming on TV. I watched it from the middle, it was in Hindi and my board exams were coming up, because of which I only watched it from the part where Judy is seeing Nick sell the Jumbo sized candy till the part where Nick records Judy saying she's a dumb bunny. Obviously it didn't tell me anything about the story, but it gave me a demo of what this movie is - a gorgeous animation with great character development. It was finally two years later that I watched the whole movie.
The story revolves around Judy Hopps, a small town bunny who has moved to the big city called Zootopia where she decides to become a cop. The other character is Nick Wilde, a street smart fox who uses cunning tactics to get quick money. Both of them team up to find out what is making the carnivores aggressive. As they go out to find out the criminal, they explore Zootopia, interact with many animals over there and learn what it means to be a citizen in a diverse city.
This movie is one of the best social commentaries I have ever seen in a movie. The carnivores are animals who have hunted down the herbivores and even other carnivores for centuries. Because of this the herbivores are always afraid of the carnivores, even though they pretend to be politically correct by saying everyone is equal. As a result when it was found out that the carnivores were "getting back to their original instincts", everyone was getting terrified from them, since now they believe their wellbeing is more important than social harmony.
Later on it's revealed why they were being hypnotised to be violent, which is very similar to the facism on the rise. The carnivores are metaphors of blacks/Muslims/other communities who have recently been seen as equal people, whom we are told to hate solely for the sake of vote banks. The movie was made in 2016, which was the year when facism had just begun growing. In reality no one wants to hate each other, but they are taught to do so since childhood, by the politicians and the media.
The best thing about Zootopia is what I had already seen. The animation is absolutely spectacular. The development of all the main characters was done very well. Both Nick and Judy learnt a lot throughout the movie and were able to move ahead as what they are. The world building is pretty good, considering it's not even two hours long. The sense of humour was subtle. It was neither cringy nor outrageously hilarious. It went completely with the tone, especially the sloths in the bank scene.
The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the plot twist, now that I think about it. It was pretty good according to the time I saw it, but back then I hadn't watched a lot of movies and later on I realised many kids' movies use the same plot twist (Incredibles 2, Cars 2, Detective Pikachu, Shazam!, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 etc. I don't want to give any spoilers so you can figure out what the plot twist is).
Zootopia is one of the most iconic animated movies. It's not saying much considering almost every Disney movie is iconic, but this one is one of the better ones compared to the mindless comedy animated movies that are made only for earning quick buck (The Emoji Movie came just a year after it and was also targeted for the audience of the same age group). It's a movie I'd definitely show to my kids in the future. I can already see myself get nostalgic when I'll watch it.

Instead,Zootopia is the best Pixar film that Pixar never made. While the film could’ve easily been enjoyable just on the charm of animals and gags alone they didn’t do that. even the heartwarming investigation story in the first act is fine. Instead, the film opted to use it to speak to harsh and cruel reality that never lets up and neither does the film. Piling cruelness upon the hero to a point that most films would stop. It’s this willingness to be honest and harsh that makes this film go above and beyond a kind of distance that I haven’t seen form an animated film since Toy Story 3. Any gripes about the film’s conflict resolving too quickly or having too many reveals are issues that could easily be resolved with repeat viewings and knowing what’s happening. With Zootopia Disney have once-again surpassed themselves in the non-fairy tale CGI films. With the track record continuing to be great as Disney’s films continue to improve and evolve the biggest concern is whether the next film will be as great as the last one. Disney’s biggest competition this year is themselves with Moana a musical the question now becomes can it be as great and timeless and classical. This could be the year where Disney has two classics. I hope so because if its any indication Disney is still on top and has done it again and I am no longer looking forward to Finding Dory. Expand

For kids the message is about never giving up on your dreams and not letting others bring you down. For adults it's a powerful allegory for the evils of racism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination.

It's a really deep film. However, pushing past it's compelling themes it's also a very funny and charming movie. The animation is stunning and the voice cast is excellent. Presentation wise it knocks everything out of the park. It's also very sharp with it's writing as well. It's humor is on point and very clever. It's able to bring jokes any kid could laugh at and even squeeze in some more mature ones for the older audiences in ways the younglings won't pick up on.

The plot does hit some very familiar beats with it's story about a rookie cop with something to prove out to solve a tough case. There are twists here we've seen time and time again over the years. The sense of humor, heart, deep subject matter, and imaginative world do allow the movie to overcome it's plot familiarity. However the issue is still noticeable.

It ends up being very minor though. In the face of everything Zootopia does right, this stumble feels practically miniscule. It's another Disney movie with plenty to offer the entire family. It's a sweet, touching, and very mature tale that's most importantly funny. It's an all around success and a movie I have no trouble highly recommending to any and everybody.

Zootopia is the best Disney animated film that I have seen in a long time. This is a movie that works for everyone. It doesn't matter if you're 4 years old or 40 years old.

I love the characters. They did such a great job of building up Judy Hopps from the moment she comes on screen so we love her almost immediately. I think she is going to go down and I think I will remember her as one of my favorite Disney characters. One thing that Disney has done so well with their animated films is casting. They don't ever feel like they needs to stuff their animated films to the brim with big name voices in order to be successful they just hunt for the voices who fit their characters. Ginnifer Goodwin (who I never even heard of before this movie) made such a great voice for Judy Hopps and I can say with confidence that Jason Bateman was the perfect choice for Nick Wilde.

Disney just aced the animation. It is so beautiful and I watched this film with a friend in a theater packed with children and their parents and I think my friend and I had the most fun during the screening. I think it could have been a bit funnier but I thought that it was just the right length despite being one of the longest running Disney films to date. I think Zootopia is a early candidate for best animated film of the year.

The voice work by Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time) and Jason Bateman (Juno) are especially brilliant despite all the voice work being great. Zootopia should just be handed the Best Animated Film of the year award already. It's a fabulous film..

Setting up in a city occupied by all types of animals, it manipulates the relationship of predators and preys as a metaphor to emphasis the current society's biases phenomenon rather than the usual family relationship issues audiences usually seen in previous animated films. Being a funny and adventurous simple tale, the structural progression of the story is not the usual straightforward style that is kid friendly but mostly due to its thrilling elements that lead to twisted plots which is quite rare in animations. Scores composed by Michael Giacchino and theme song "Try Everything" by Shakira perfectly fit while the ingenious landscapes of metropolitan city and mother nature definitely serve as splendid visual treats. It is undeniable smart and classic, strong like a bull to stress on the existence of prejudice and peace, only if we learn to respect each others from different races, backgrounds and cultures. With Pixar being owned by Disney, there seems to have been a nice amount of bleed over between the two, Pixar is more consistent with the quality of their films, but every once and awhile a movie of Pixar’s quality comes from Disney. WeWith Pixar being owned by Disney, there seems to have been a nice amount of bleed over between the two, Pixar is more consistent with the quality of their films, but every once and awhile a movie of Pixar’s quality comes from Disney. We should remember that Disney was once, and in many ways still is the premiere animation company, but not that long ago they had been struggling to put out great films. Zootopia is smart, funny, and is mature in its storytelling and in its message. It’s very nice to see a movie directed at kids that has respect and treats kids as people who can understand complex themes, not mindless creatures that need simple cliched messages.

In that respect Zootopia is more like a Pixar film, where Pixar has shown an understanding that complex messages can be the most emotionally powerful and while being complex can be presented in a simple, and straightforward way. Much like Inside Out taught us so much about using our emotions, especially sadness, Zootopia has a great message about fear and the treatment of entire groups of people because of that fear. It’s ironic, because the movie indirectly latches onto an issue that is relevant today, with an air of innocence and purity. On top of that at a deeper level, the film is witty, in that everything ties together and that the audience is forced to think as the movie progresses.

The humor is witty as well, in particular the scene about the DMV which is so funny because it’s spot on. The witty humor and complex messages make this film enjoyable for everybody, not just kids. Every character in the film is given a great amount of thought and development, making it so that they all have moments to grow, and are extremely relatable. Unfortunately the film’s villain has good motivations, however at the end when they reveal who the villain is they come across as campy and over the top.

The movie does a great job creating an inventive world where animals from all different habitats can coexist in one city. The film then proceeds to partially waste it’s inventive world on various scenes that are plucked straight out of other films, namely the Godfather. However, those scenes are only a small takeaway from the movie as a whole, because they don’t last very long and are admittedly clever. That along with the overall maturity the screenwriters used still makes the film a great accomplishment.
Zootopia never really looked like a film that would be this good, but after seeing the amazing amount of craft and effort, it seems this may be one of the better animated films of the year. The film does what every animated film should do, it tells a solid story with a lot of emotional depth, and a message that can hopefully teach kids important lessons. The film is also funny, smart, beautifully animated, filled with great characters, and features great voice work. If you have kids, and they haven’t seen this film yet, it’s safe to say they’d enjoy it, but they may possibly take an important life lesson away from seeing it to.

A great plot with some interesting twists, fantastic animation, and a very interesting setting. The only reason this isn't getting a 10 is because the message, though positive, is a bit too on the nose. The message itself is fine but while watching, you will feel like it's coming across as more of a lesson geared towards people involved and paying attention to the U.S.'s current situation.

However, the alternative message of fulfilling your dreams and perseverance is definitely more appealing. Call me insane, but I honestly think this is better than Frozen. Frozen was a fine film but it may have been a bit too overrated on its debut. Zootopia has received just enough praise and criticism.

After seeing them rise with; 'Tangled' (2010), 'Wreck-It Ralph' (2012), 'Frozen' (2013) and even 'Big Hero 6' (2014)... they hit it again with what is arguably their most intelligent and insightful film, 'Zootopia'.

The world of "Zootopia" focuses on an enthusiastic and hard-working bunny named Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) who dreams of becoming a cop, but because of the fact that she is a small bunny in a huge city of "Zootopia", nobody seems to think that she can make it. She is often ridiculed by Chief Bogo (voiced by Idris Elba), a cynical, impatient and at times, short-fused Buffalo who keeps sending Judy in charge of parking duty and nothing more for her to expand on her skills to catch criminals.

She meets a very sly and cunning fox named Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) who she catches getting up to some dodgy things, and she needs his help to catch some criminal responsible for making some of the predators in Zootopia from going "savage" and becoming dangerous.

This is one of Disney's most thoughtful movies as it does focus on the subject of discrimination, and is great to teach its young audience to not hate against those who are different through no fault of their own. However, I do feel as if young children will not get the subject quite as well as adults, children may not be able to understand what the movie is trying to tell metaphorically, while to us adults, the message is pretty crystal clear... Children will have more of a fun time watching characters like Judy and Nick throughout their journey, but nothing else may appeal to them quite as well.

Directors Byron Howard ('Tangled') and Rich Moore ('Wreck-It Ralph'), who also co-wrote the screenplay along with Jared Bush and Jennifer Lee ('Frozen') are a fantastic team to bring together this incredible story that could rank as Disney's best... even if children don't quite get it yet. There is more education placed before fun here, but if your kids are patient enough, they'll have the time of their lives.

There is also some voice work from Shakira as Gazelle, with a song called "Try Everything"... I didn't see the significance in having Shakira in this movie as her character doesn't appear very often, and has little impact on the story, but for the most part... this movie is one of the best Disney has ever done.

It has until ironic jokes and teasing some references or Disney. The script is the best script I might have seen in a Disney movie. It has so many new things I have not seen before. For example, there is a character of a fox named Gideon Grey who was the bully in childhood of Judy, and currently is selling cakes and apologizes of Judy for his past actions. That's something I've never seen before. The production design is incredible and the city is very creative. The only problem I have with the film is the villain. Not reveal anything to avoid saying a spoiler, just say it was something weak in a film and on the last third of the film. The rest is not to say, I was so happy to see that he never felt predictable. Zootopia is a film that the family can enjoy. It's pretty creative and funny to leave you speechless Expand

Zootopia's crowning achievements are in its characters and animated world.

Unlike a lot of characters in animated movies who are idealized and a lot of times were given "because they're the main character they can do anything" moment by the writers, the characters in Zootopia are real and believable. Wilde's cunning and Hopp's charm are fresh and likable throughout the movie.

I also found Zootopia's world to be open and expansive. The details on how small and large animals can coexist in the city makes the city alive and real.

The slight shortcoming of this movie is in its story. It is a great story but the whole movie feels like it is part of something greater; a few episodes out of a season of TV show.

At the end of the movie I wanted to see more of Wilde and Hopp. Now I'm eagerly waiting for Zootopia season 2.

I would not have been shocked if it had been any movie except Disney but I was disappointed because I saw the words not used to call on God but as a swear word.
When I told my grandson that I was going to write a letter, his comment was "Maama, no one will listen when just one person has a complaint." Of course it did lead to a discussion about many of the very important messages in the movie as well as the importance of one person speaking out when they believe their voice will be heard.
All in all, I think the positive message was amazing and I give it my thumbs up!

The animation is a testament to the technological advancements coming from the industry, the story is captivating, and numerous diverse, interesting characters fill screens and encourage you to watch again.

I went in expecting good things. For the first time in years, a trailer for a straight-up disney movie caught my attention and I found myself very compelled to watch it. I expected a light laugh, maybe a lesson learnt along the way in true Disney style, not unlike classics such as Jungle Book and the like, movies which were staples of my childhood. I came away with what many might consider a heavily politicised message. Some may see issue with this - I do not. It is a message which is simple, common sense, and good to be teaching children.

Some may consider that this film is too dark. I don't think so. Disney movies of times gone by - Tarzan, Mulan, the Wild et cetera - often included very dark moments. Maybe those who think this is too dark are thinking of Frozen, a film with much popularity and, indeed, acclaim, but which skips out on dealing with compelling issues and morals for our society today.

Let's discuss the actors. The voice talents of Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, even Shakira in one of her rare on-screen appearances, certainly moved the film from relatable to compelling and invigorating. I think, however, that the best performance came from Ginnifer Goodwin. Even as a follower of Ginnifer's work for a number of years, I only found out about her role in Zootopia after watching the film, and her performance, like always, delivered just the right emotions when needed, from the semi-intelligible murmurs between tears to the most determined and optimistic tones elsewhere, she delivers the highs and the lows with sophistication and depth.

In terms of the animation, I mentioned that it shows how far technology has come in the industry, and it really has. Some may consider it bland and drab, but I don't. Even the parts which are supposed to be drab are designed with artistic magnificence, and the testing work of animating multiple atmospheres from tropical to arctic and all in between, with regular changes and transitions, really paid off.

Finally, the story. I think there were seven writers, and it definitely shows - not in a disjointed, disunited way, but in a team-built way in which the talents of many writers complement and contrast with each other in a magnificent way.

If there was one way in which I could criticise the movie, it'd be the music. I am still humming Shakira's "Try Everything" on a very regular basis, but the orchestral score could have been better. This is Michael Giacchino we are talking here, composer of the classic and the great from Jurassic World, the Incredibles and Up. I have great respect for Giacchino and his work, and would probably place him as my second favourite film composer (closely following John Powell, and just beating Joe Hisaishi), but the scoring for this film, while not bad, had much more opportunity to shine, and that is the only reason for the 9/10 rating (It would be 9.5...).

Overall, a great movie. I have seen some great movies this year, from Star Wars VII to Deadpool, and this is up there, definitely so. I've watched it twice, I plan to watch it more times, and I will be buying the DVD once it comes out.

All of the hype for 2016 was for Moana and Pixar's Finding Dory. However, the trailers looked promising and Disney is known for talking animal movies; from the decently good Robin Hood to the rather poor Chicken Little. Then the first critic reviews came in, saying this was a masterpiece and the best Disney film since The Lion King. So I went into the theater with high hopes and wasn't disappointed at all. In fact, Zootopia is the best Disney animated film in 20+ years and stands tall with the greatest of great Disney classics. Why is this? The story, animation, and characters rock!

Starting with the animation, it is extremely detailed and simply beautiful. The city is a mix of old and new structures and through clever ways, is able to accommodate mammals from the smallest mouse to the tallest giraffe. All the animal characters are expertly designed and are lovable to the point where you wish you could hug their fur. Unlike other anthropomorphic animal movies where the animals were basically humans with fur on top, the animals here are a perfect blend with both human and natural characteristics. Like humans, these characters wear cloths (except shoes), walk upright, and live very human lives. Like real animals, these mammals are their respective sizes, live in their respective climates, and keep some of their natural looks/ characteristics. Both of the main characters; Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde; are quite memorable, imperfect, and complex. Even the side characters, such as Police Chief Bogo, Officer Clawhauser, and Flash all play an important part to the story and are lovable themselves.

Speaking of the story; that was the most shocking part of the film. What starts out as a simple buddy cop detective story turns into a complex, Pixar- esque commentary on stereotyping, race relations, fear mongering, the media, drugs, social privilege, point of view, relationships, and bigotry. Like modern day America, this society has cultural issues that are kept under the rug until exposed. When exposed, all hell breaks loose and the city must learn how to come together and resolve their species (racial) issues. This message isn't new, but the fact that Disney took it on in full force shows the risk they took. The story and theme are presented in a non- preachy manner, stays neutral, and is rather realistic. Instead of the message being "stop stereotyping now", it is "let's acknowledge there is problem and work towards a solution". It is very realistic to the way we think and doesn't present a clear solution, leaving that to the audience to think for themselves. Not to mention the excellent comedy that's woven in to keep the tone perfectly balanced between its laugh- out- loud moments and more serious themes. It is simply inspiring.

Sadly Zootopia, like its titular city, isn't a perfect movie. The pacing is uneven in areas as the jokes go by too quickly and the more dramatic moments too slowly. Do to some pop culture elements, it isn't as timeless as other Disney/ Pixar movies. In addition, the anti- stereotyping message is a little muddled as some of the animal stereotypes are true. (sloths are slow, etc.) Overall, the 55th Disney animated film in 79 years is a near- masterpiece with an uplifting important story about prejudice, lovable characters, and top- notch animation.

Zootopia is an amazing movie. It works perfectly as a children's film while projecting mature themes that are very relevant on today's society.

The amount of detail that's been given to this world is unbelievable and the characters are very well realised. The story is heartfelt and smart, and humour is spread throughout the whole thing. If I had to pick some negatives I'd say that the way the villain is revealed felt very rushed and the song by Shakira is awful.

This movie is a must see, probably the best modern Disney effort.

The story is very entertaining and smart, and has great and very fleshed out characters. And unlike most animated films today, Zootopia manages to keep it's tone more mature, which adults can get some enjoyment out of. The animation is without a doubt very beautiful, with every shot of the movie looking gorgeous. The acting is pretty solid without one bad performance, and the dialogue is good as well. Some of the problems I have with the film is how predictable it felt sometimes. The twist reveal was pretty obvious to me, and the 3rd act, while good, wasn't as good as the first two and kinda slowed the movie down. And some of the music didn't fit with some of the scenes. Overall, this is one of the better animated movies of today, and I would recommend this to children and adults alike. Expand

Toda sátira feita aqui a sociedade é interessantíssima.

Super recomendado!

Some people are making this out to be the next coming of Jesus. And maybe for the furry fandom, it is. But even as a furry, myself, I was not like, super amazed by this movie.

As a viewing experience, this was pretty enjoyable. The visuals are good, the characters are likable, there's actually a bit of depth to a few of the characters, and on the whole it is fun. The movie does a good job of setting up some ideas and plot pieces and then setting them into place later on, and the interplay between the protagonists is enjoyable to watch.

That said, this is a good movie. It isn't perfect - there's some plot holes in it which kind of ruin the mystery, and while the movie does a decent job with some Chekov's Guns and does try to subvert things in the second half of the movie, it also suffers from playing its own premise too straight. The movie, after all, is about racism and stereotypes, and yet the movie simultaneously has to establish them AND undermine them at the same time. As a result, it ends up feeling a little bit muddled in its delivery of its moral at times, even though it is pretty clear from the context of the movie that the protagonists are not the only people who have learned this lesson in this world.

All in all, I can recommend this movie; I think most folks will enjoy it, especially if they're Disney fans. It is probably the best Disney movie since The Princess and the Frog, and was certainly an enjoyable thing to sit down and watch.

Consistently poignant, Zootopia's sole weakness comes in the form of it being mildly heavy handed at times. Without that, the film would be nearly perfect. The animation is beautifully brought to life and the voice acting is incredible across the board. Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, and Nate Torrence, being the absolute standouts on that front. They all brilliantly bring their characters to life with their great work. Additionally, the writing is stupendous. Consistently funny throughout, the characters are also well developed and the plot is compelling and interesting, yet still accessible enough for a child. That being said, the jokes (DMV, etc.) may go way over the heads of children. If I were a child, I would find it way less funny than I did as an adult. That said, Zootopia is a fantastic film that starts off Disney Animation's 2016 with a bang and sets a high bar for their release later this year. Wonderfully thoughtout and thoroughly entertaining, Zootopia is another great film to add to Disney's extensive catalog. Expand

Like a lot of its ilk, the set up dazzles more than the conclusion, but at least it eschews treacly sentiment.
Kids will be happy with the cornucopia of animal characters and fast paced action, whilst adults will relish the ‘in’ jokes, movie references and amazing invention on display. The train ride to, and through, Zootropolis needs to be seen a few times to fully appreciate the sheer beauty and imagination of the place. The animated work here is sublime.
If ever a film had a signpost invisibly displayed for a sequel then this is it. With its various kingdoms and variety of animals already set up, there is ample room left for an in exhaustive amount of story possibilities. One just hopes that they will all end up being as good as this one which, whilst holding its own with the animated best, is more importantly an estimable film in its own right.

Try everything (but differently). So Disney has done it again.

This beautiful animation came to exist because of coming together of the directors of 'Tangled' and 'Wreck-it-Ralp'. It is Disney who had once again done it, since their rival Pixer is going down in a rapid speed. As a Disney fan since my childhood, I'm very happy for their success in live-shot films and animations, especially for this one.

Okay, since the revolution of 3D animation over 20 years ago after overthrowing the 2D animation, most of the big productions like Disney, Pixer and Dreamworks with few others never failed to deliver. Believe me, I was not interested in this film when I first saw the teaser and trailer. But they have done great promotions and so the film did awesomely at screens worldwide. I was totally blown away after seeing it, Disney's another unique universal charactered story. From the little children to the grown ups, everybody definitely going to enjoy it.

All kinds of animals coming together happens only in cinemas, and that too mostly in animations. But todays kids are very sharp who ask lots of questions, so they had a fine explanation for the doubts regarding putting animals in a same society. It was like the United States, where everyone came from different continents and represents different race. And so in this film every animal came from different land to live together peacefully in a city called Zootopia.

So the story begins when Judy the rabbit follows her dream to become a police officer in Zootopia. There she meets Nick the fox, who are actually arch-rival species in the wild, but it was thousands of years ago before adapting the civilisation. So trust is what not promised between them, but they're forced to work together after a small missing person case becomes their prime agenda. Solving the mystery is what brings the end to this wonderful tale.

These days animations are not just concentrated on comedies, trying to get us emotionally as well. Maybe that's how they're grabbing the adult audience, especially the families. Shakira's cameo was the highlight, and her song 'Try Everything' helped the get attention from all the corners.

The Oscars was concluded just a couple of months ago, but it already feels like the fever is gripping again for the next edition and looks like this film is leading the way for the animation category. I know it's too early, but I hope it wins it. And finally a request for the Disney, bring it on a sequel as soon as possible.
