it was like reading a book's summary and that summary taking like 2h, and I felt like they atleast removed 45m of the footage! it was just like a single page of the books, so short and not many plot stuff. but If they didn't do this only the people who played the game would have liked it!!!!

they had no other choice, they made a lot of stupid mistakes like the cliches, and the lothar's son was basically useless :D

but this is more like a pre-sequal or something, I can feel that the next ones will be amazing!

still so much difference then the game's plot! but good!!!

The lore was right on and itTotally go see this movie and ignore the people rating 0's they obviously are trolls and just wanna harm the product because they are using there selfishness to rate a movie that they most likely didn't even see. The lore was right on and it gives its own ideas to how something happened non lore wise. I have no idea why people hated on this film ya the start of the story for Warcraft wasn't amazing but its just building up to even better stuff. This is easily one of the best CGI movies I have seen and seeing all the hidden gems within the movie made it that much better. I was gonna make this a 6 or 7 but I really want to see another movie from them because I felt this movie did justice with the lore of Warcraft just because we have 12-15 y/o down rating this because they didn't grow up with the lore and feel WOW has a bad lore then they can say that to the community of a game thats still the MOST PLAYED MMO in the world.

Also if you have no Warcraft lore this movie is still worth seeing just try to remember peoples names within the movie and Wiki them to learn more about them. I think the only downside of this movie is there is so many characters that they tried to squeeze in and it felt rushed in some cases because of it but it still stayed with the story line/lore. Please check this movie out if you love fantasy stuff.

The basic plot is simple enough but the story flow and character development are non existent. The script and and acting are cringe worthy as well. The only thing this movie has, is good CG and good costumes. Anyone giving this movie more than 6 is a idiot fanboy who has no concept of what makes a good movie or story. Dont get me started on ppl voting this a 10. You must really be special... In short it looks great but EVERYTHING else about it stinks. Expand

If you never played the game and watched the movie and didn't like it, just accept that the movie is not bad at all, it just wasn't meant for you!

I think any one who has some familiarity with the game probably thought "is there a story worth of a movie in warcraft?" when the news of the movie came. The answer is no! But there is another question that is very important: "are there visuals in warcraft that are worth of a movie?" Hell yeah!! And that's why I had a great experience with this movie! They didn't come up with a sophisticated storyline that would detach the movie from the games (although those who are unfamiliar with the game would appreciate the movie better), and they translated the atmosphere of the game to the movie screen marvelously well! The moves, the cinematography, the pace, the design - every detail in these elements were clearly crafted with awareness and respect to the source material. My only complaint is two scenes where the CGI was cheap, which really contrasts with the rest of the movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First and foremost, this movie is 100% fan-service.
It's enjoyable apart from that, but ultimately it's going to be hard for people unfamiliar with the source material to follow.
They did a really great job of setting up the plot and introducing the pivotal characters to the story in a very quick and efficient way as well as developing them in such a way that you legitimately begin to feel for them and the struggles they encounter.
It's also worth mentioning, this movie is not "World of Warcraft". It's "Warcraft" as in the PC game from years ago.
The plot was conveyed very well, the locations are iconic and very easily recognizable and the ultimate easter egg was right near the beginning Lotrhan is riding through the woods to Goldshire and there's a lone murloc in the foreground that lets out that iconic gurgle from WoW.
Even if you're not a fan, as I mentioned, it's an enjoyable movie, the fight scenes are incredible, the characters are well-written, and the sense of panic from both sides is very real.
I gave it a 9/10 just for the fact that in the 2.5 hour run-time, they could have done a bit more to explain some of the plot for people that are new to the series.

A film NEM rossz. A kedves kritikusok nem írnak objektíven, becsapják a nézőket. Emberek!!!

Go and everybody check this movie in the cinema. The movie is great. Go and check this great film your our eyes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie was visually at par with a Blizzard Cinematic (Which is a good thing). The overall story, as well as character stories -felt rushed. The magic scenes were spectacular, but some of the fight scenes were lacking in intensity. I don't even remember the names of supporting characters, namely the guardian-apprentice; who's name I feel I should remember as they end up being a pretty important character. Viewers should remember that this movie is a story from the Warcraft RTS games, not just World of Warcraft, so don't go in expecting to see all the races, although some were visible. Not a bad movie at all. Expand

I didn't have the highest of hopes for this movie based on the overwhelmingly negative critical reviews I've read. The critics did get it right for Batman v Superman after all. But how wrong they were this time...

The movie was tons of fun! I would compare this favourably to Avatar (which I enjoyed considerably less) in terms of sheer ambition and as visual spectacles. The pace of the film was really good, and 2 hours just breezed past. Characters were well fleshed out aesthetically (special praise for the awesome orc designs), and in terms of essential backstory.

With that said, the CGI and acting were a bit hit and miss at times (the lighting storm scene was terrible). The same can be said of the plot. Some of the characters' intentions and decisions were somewhat questionable. Borderline inane even. But hey, the action sequences more than made up for them!

Long story short, WATCH THIS MOVIE and immerse yourself in the wonderful world of Azeroth!

FOR THE HORDE / ALLIANCE!

P.S. This movie hasn't done very well domestically, so if the deserved sequel does come out, I'm gonna thank god for China and their 1.3 billion people!

Having seen it, I'm seriously struggling to reconcile what I read in critic reviews versus what I saw. The film is good. It's not a timeless classic, but it's lovingly crafted and entertaining from start to finish.

I can understand those who don't like the fantasy genre not being into Warcraft, but if you're not into the genre why are you reviewing the film? It's like reviewing a beer when you don't like beer: pointless.

A thoroughly entertaining movie that is well worth seeing at the theater. Every single one of my friends and family who has seen it also loved it.

I am not a gamer, not of that kind of games. The game is based of Warcraft: orcs and humans, the first RTS expansion to what became now the MMO World of Warcraft.
I did not know anything about the game or their characters, yet I enjoyed this movie immensely. The motivations of the characters are clear.
In one end, you have the Orc race, escaping a world that was dying because their leader Gul'dan, was syphoning all life out of it, through a portal, and into the world of Azeroth. On the other hand, you have the Humans, with their king, Vrynn, and commander, Lothar, who feel threatened by this new arrival, and more so by the arrival of the fel, which is the source of Gul'dan's powers.
The CGI is done by the best CGI studio in the market, and they succeed into making this blend of human motion capture and CGI work be more realistic than Avatar ever was.

After a bit of research about the game and their extensively generous database of wikis, I could see how some of the major plot was kept, with some insignificant modifications to the storyline, to make this work.

I can now consider myself a newbie to the game World of Warcraft, thanks to that movie, as I bought the game and it's expansion to experience the MMO world for myself, and so far, I've been fairly pleased with what I saw.

Its a movie made for the fans that explains just enough for people who don't know much about the game to understand what's happening. Packed with action, and characters that are willing to go to extremes to protect whats theirs. A labor of love and a gift to the fans. The animation is top notch and amazing, you can really feel the weight of the powerful orcs as the charge forward.

Again, ignore the critics who are just hating on it because it's movie based on a high fantasy game.

I was hesitant to see it, but once I saw the critic reviews I knew I had to see it. Anything the critics absolutely hate usually turn out to be very good. Critics only like to watch drawn out weepy drama movies that are over acted like spending 2 hours at a celebrities baby shower. No thank you! Steer clear of anything one of these critics like.

I was engaged the whole way through and it was a movie that made you think as well as question. They introduced the Orcs really well and established the humans as very civil even in times of pressure. This movie was well made and the story was easy to follow and it definitely deserves a sequel. Imagine the introduction of the paladins, undead or even the night elf's in this world they have established. I have no idea what these critics are on but their opinions should not undermine the potential this movie has. only downside for me was that some of the characters were not as developed as they could have been regardless great movie. If you are a fan of the "Warcraft" series, then the movie will probably interest you. However, due to the massive amount of information packed into only two hours, the average non-Warcraft player will likely feel lost and uninterested.

You will ABSOLUTELY love this movie if you have played any of the Warcraft games.

However, it's true that anyone who has no insight or experience with the genre has no way of connecting to the movie. This was a movie that more I think about it, was made with fans in mind - which I really appreciate. So it's complicated - for folks like my sister who has never heard of Warcraft, she'll never be able to associate with how awesome this is.

Some critics cite the lack of a central protagonist to follow and cheer for - which is precisely what you would expect out of a 'normal' movie.

Take World of Warcraft, or Warcraft III, or any of the Warcraft games and convert it to a movie and you've got this: a faithful reproduction.

Every city, every image, and every spell is "as you would have imagined it" -- IF YOU had played any of the games before. So for those of us who grew up playing Warcraft, this is like taking the games we played and bringing it to life.

It's a shame that all movie critics -- and the masses -- will not experience the same sheer volume of awesome that one gets when they see their favorite book brought to life.

Anyway, definitely check it out if you have played the games - this is the first movie based on a game in which it was faithful to the fans -- and not to the masses, so I'm appreciative it got to be made.

I watched the movie and i have to say, i don't think it doesn't deserved to be panned so much. Is it perfect? No, but it was fun. The motion capture on the orcs is amazing to look at, the action is awesome and the cast tries it's best to stay true to the video games. There was times in the movie where it was just confusing to me but it was probably because i'm not really familiar with the Warcraft games. Its a difficult task to tryAs a fan of the Warcraft games (Both RTS and MMO) for over 10 years now I wear my bias on my sleeve. The film's greatest strength is in the love and care that have gone into adapting this world for the big screen. Its a difficult task to try and distill over 20 years of lore and storytelling from one medium to another. Even more difficult is trying to tell a coherent story from this material in the space of two hours. The film largely succeeds in doing so despite a few stumbles.

Blizzard and Duncan Jones wisely chose to start from the beginning. The story is fairly simple but serviceable. If I had one criticism its that the story is fairly generic compared to those found in later games. But that isn't a slight against the film as the movie is a faithful adaptation of that story. It wasn't until Warcraft 3 that I really felt that the storytelling really became interesting.

The film can be a bit too fast paced in the beginning of the film which I do think may be disorienting to those who are not familiar with the lore. However I do feel that casual moviegoers can still have fun with it if they allow the film to exist on its own. If you can divorce yourself from the idea that the LotR is the standard of fantasy films I think you can have a great time with it and become invested in its characters.

The cast does a great job of bringing these characters to life in my opinion. Durotan and Drakka are notable standouts. Lothar and Khadgar have decent chemistry between them and I would have even liked to have seen more of it. I know Ben Schnetzer has been criticized in other reviews but I actually quite liked him as Khadgar. Another casting choice I have seen criticized is Ben Foster's Medivh. Again I actually thought he put in a decent part as Medivh. I would be remiss however if I didn't give praise for Daniel Wu's Guldan. They captured Guldan's cunning and ruthlessness perfectly.

The special effects are quite special indeed. I really do think the effects are a visual feast for the eyes. I saw the film in 3D and I even liked the extra sense of depth it added to the experience. I never really was taken out of the film by something looking fake or out of place. I found myself easily immersed in this lovingly crafted world.

The score was solid as well. If you have played the games you will recognize familiar themes from the games as well as some original music. The fantastic audio extends to the sound effects as well. Punches feel like they have power behind them and even the sword strikes and magic carry spectacular weight through the sound design.

Its worth noting that there is an abundance of fan service in the film and it never really felt too on the nose but there were some very clever subtle uses of it. Some of these may be lost on casual movie goers but I don't think they will detract from anyone's enjoyment of the film.

In the end Warcraft is a solid fantasy film and one I recommend to any fan of the property. For die hard lore fans there are some changes made to the lore but they too never detract from this adaptation. If you are a casual moviegoer my advice is to just go into the movie with an open mind. Not every movie has to be a Lord of the Rings. I do hope we see sequels so that we can get the Lich King on screen someday.

These so called "critics" are ridiculous. Rating this movie 0's, it's just insane. The movie was epic, effects on point, it was a pleasure watching this in 3D which is rare for a lot of movies. I wished that the movie was longer and you can see that it was cramped at times to fit a specific time frame, but director's cut will be even more epic with added 40 minutes of screen time. I'm not sure why they made a decision to cut this movie by 40 minutes, but it's a shame. However, this doesn't mean that the movie is bad.

Don't read the reviews of these so called critics who basically destroyed the score of Warcraft on Metacritic. Everyone who watched this movie with me that day and left the cinema said "this is one of the best movies that I saw in a long time". DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT listen to "professional" critics giving this movie anything below a 50%. Most of them (especially the kotaku one) read as if they've based their review on the trailer alone.

All in all

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is a Warcraft movie. For the Warcraft fans, GO SEE THIS MOVIE! For the non fans or people interested? GO SEE IT. This movie absolutely nails all aspects related to Warcraft. The acting was incredible, from all sides of the war. You could feel the effect of the powerful acting, you could feel the emotions that the characters themselves are feeling in the most powerful of ways. The art and design, was spot on! The magic was designed perfectly, the costumes and looks of the characters were perfect! The movie truly payed homage to the Warcraft lore and kept to the story to a T.

My only gripe with the movie, was the fact that to make it easier on people, you definitely needed a VERY BASIC understanding of the Warcraft lore. knowing a bit of the lore makes a lot of this easier to digest, cause as we all know, warcraft has a very convoluted story. But even for the non fans, as long as you pay attention and watch, the movie is still very easy to follow and get in to. But because of that, it misses the 10/10 just slightly.

Overall, this movie is well worth any Warcraft fans time and money. You will not be disappointed, and I know I wasn't.

Good job Blizzard, I'm proud!

Filmin Eksileri:

-Medivh'in geçmişi 3-4 cümle ile anlatıldı.

This movie transported me into a world that I have only previously visited with in my imagination. Duncan Jones adaptation of the video game work was so accurate to my minds image, I was almost brought to tears. Now, there were a few liberties that were taken as far as story goes but they were understandable and slight enough to forgive. If the tweaks weren't there the movie would have been at least another three hours longer.

Pros- Everything lolz
But more seriously- The sets, attention to detail, special effects, acting done by Durotan/Orgrim/Guldan/Garona/Lothar was fantastic, story was fun, action was rich, true to source material.

Cons- only one con!
The actor who played Khadgar pulled me from the illusion a couple times throughout the film, he just seemed out of place. Still, a forgivable performance. The kid that played Lothars son must have won a contest to be in the movie or something because he was not an actor.

In Conclusion- Go to the theater, buy a ticket, NOW. Must watch twice movie. 9/10

As an avid Warcraft player (since Reign of Chaos), I enjoyed this film immensely. I can understand that if you're not familiar with the Warcraft universe this film might be a bit confusing. There is about 20 minutes of exposition to help those who want some back story, but it might not be enough for someone who doesn't know the beginnings of Azeroth. The movie is based on Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, the very first game in the series, with a few tweaks. There are some alterations in the overall lore (Dalaran is already in the sky, Garona and Medivh are not in love, Orgrim was under Blackhand's command and defected much later, etc.), but for all major plot points, everything stays true to the game. The film is loaded with easter eggs for fans (Lion's Pride Inn makes an appearance, the language barrier between Horde and Alliance is touched upon, etc. kek!), and while the script was a bit trite at some points (which it should be, because the Alliance is hokey at times), the film as a whole was very well done. The orcs in particular were exceptional.

I really hope this film does well; I desperately want a Reign of Chaos/Frozen Throne film! I highly recommend this film to anyone who enjoys high fantasy, but obviously and especially to Warcraft fans. I don't know what film the critics saw, but it wasn't the one I just watched. Excellent adaptation for the medium. Loktar ogar! Blood and Thunder!

Along with most of the user reviews, both she and I are on the side that loved it as well. There is so much for the fans of the game to geek out over and every bit of it will be lost on someone that hasn't played. That said the movie is still dang entertaining and enjoyable for the non-gamer. CGI is amazing, acting is probably not LOTR quality but still really solid. I've seen complaints that it is too focused around the Alliance (faction from the game) but everyone that grew up with Warcraft should recognize going in that this is based on Warcraft 1 which was very Alliance focused. The Horde faction gets equal screen time and the "Honor" that is at the core or of the Orc culture is always on display. I'll definitely be watching again. Fantastic all around movie and kudos to Blizzard for giving this the love and attention your fans deserve! Expand

I took my mother to watch this movie with me. She knows absolutely nothing about Warcraft games or it's lore.

She completely loved it.

I really don't understand the people critisizing the effects. They are simply amazing. I'm not saying this as a fan, but the movie as a whole is amazing. Seriously, the down sides here are on some dialogues (a bit juvenile) and the acting of some of the actors (like Travis).

Now, talking as fan, I would have like it a bit more if some of the changes weren't made. Nonetheless, I completelly accept and understand them, and I still like what they done. There were also some good changes. I mean, the resolution around Durotan's arch if far more glorious in the movie rather than the games' lore. One change I didn't like ? Well, trying to avoid spoilers, a major character kills another major character that should have been killed by a third manjor character. Which is important to the development. Anyway, amazing movie.

If you DON'T know anything about Warcraft, you should totally watch it. Just don't try to figure who are those guys. Just focus on what is been presented to you. Things will come clear in next movies. Or you can read the "Blood and Honor" and "The last Guardian" books to get some background.

I have played every Blizzard title to date, and I was not sure whether to watch this movie after the dismal reviews given by the critics.

But after watching the movie, I believe this honest adaptation of the Warcraft lore sits right up there in terms of movie quality with the likes of Avengers and all the other Marvel movie titles that came out recently.

In terms of movie quality, let's break it down.

First, casting. There is nothing to criticise here at a high level. I did not get a sense of "Oh man, they should have really cast another actor for this role". Understand that the casting choices would have been influenced by the China ownership of the related studio behind the movie, but this did not show itself during the movie. Daniel Wu, a noteable Chinese actor was not recognizable in the movie. A testament perhaps to the good acting behind the green, in both senses of the word. The key roles were played to 8/10 standard across all key characters, and then some. Well done to the casting for both protagonists along the Alliance/Horde divide. The only really familiar face to the movie/tv series western watching audience would be the Preacher lead in the role of the King. And this is only because the Preacher series recently begun. The only key role which I felt had a questionable casting was Ben Foster. I use the word "questionable" in a neutral stance. Ben Foster brought his own style to the role, which departs from what I imagined the character, an old, legendary wizard, to be. Ben Foster brought humanity into the role, of which fragility came along as baggage. This could have been a directorial decision. But I would have preferred more majesty, finesse, and flair. But I believe the producers made up for that in terms of costume design, which was about high sevens out of 10. Nevertheless, Ben Foster's acting definitely brought depth and power to the key scenes of the movie. I could write pages on the performances of the other major characters on the Alliance side, but suffice to say, the polish and gravitas was there. A last word before moving on to the Horde - Travis Fimmel has successfully brought himself to (or at least close to) the forefront of the Hollywood A-list leading men category with this performance. This is not immediately apparent from the low critical acclaim, but in this age of digital social word of mouth, the paradigm has shifted, the likes of which none of the studio executives have seen - even with the recent success of the comic book to movie franchises. This is because lore owners - gamers in this case, have the final say. And I am but one of many. And this is really, for all intents and purposes, the first game to movie "franchise". I will take those quotation marks down in due course. Let's move on to the horde side acting/casting decisions.

Surprisingly, in a really delightful way, there was more soul to the orcs then what I had in mind. Or more accurately, what I believed was possible. This is a compliment to the actors, script writers, and directors as I have been gaming with Orcs for many years and not once have I really had in my mind the "softness", for a lack of better word, which should be given to these characters. The balance between the aforementioned "softness", against the concepts of "honour", "brute strength", and "savageness" was almost close to perfection on screen. I use the word perfection liberally here. A sold 8 out of 10 for the horde-side deliverance. Note that I never once thought of the words "green screen", or "CGI" while watching. In hindsight, the only thought that came to my mind while writing that sentence was a scene of a CGI-generated gigantic wolf. Not going to psychoanalyze why, but I will state that the movie was very well done (8.5/10) in terms of cinematic beauty (landscaping, creatures, architecture).

Next, since i have written such as long winded piece already, I want to touch on comparisons and benchmarks and not continue drivelling on about direction, pacing, and all that. If you compare this movie to recent movies, it comes out strong. The most recent movie in my mind which is a good comparison is of course, the X-men apocalypse title. Comparisons are difficult to do because there are so many different facets to delve into. But overall, I would rate Warcraft slightly above the latter. Please remember that that is by no means an impartial comparison as I have a strong bond with the characters and mythology in Warcraft. But I also have an almost equal journey with the Marvel universe. So take from that what you will.

Overall: Solid 9/10.

If you're a movie snob expecting the next Citizen Kane, you'll hate it. The effects they used to make the actors look like orcs are very well done. Most of the acting is pretty good. My main complaint here is just that the original plot lines explored in the movie aren't the most compelling stories that the Warcraft series has to tell. Of course, they had no choice but to start with these plots, though. We can only hope that they continue making these movies so that we get to see the story of the Lich King on the big screen.

Some have also noted that the movie lacks some of the humor of the games, but the story is not where the humor was. The humor was always in the mundane interactions you had with your armies. You'd click on a unit, and they might eventually say something silly like, "You're good looking for a human!" or "Hee Hee that tickles". It really wasn't THAT funny. I think a serious approach to the story is the only way to do it any justice in a movie format.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

I'm usually a very rigid critic, especially of movies, but I do not see where the "professional" critics saw this as even close to below a 4.

This is a solid 6/10 in my opinion, and I wouldn't say that anything took me out of the movie at all. I have never been a big warcraft fan despite appreciating the license to a degree, and yet this was entertaining to a point, despite never being a really good movie, it did a good job overall.

Let's break down the good and the bad:

For the good, it looks good. The 3D effects on the Orcs look superb. The visuals in general did a fantastic job at conveying high fantasy without abusing it(ie it has something else to show than "awesome things" and does the simple and more down-to-earth like armors and costumes pretty well).
The sounds didn't leave a lasting impression on me but it was competent, like almost everything in the movie. Plot and actors were well-built despite being a bit on the weak side(will explain in the "bad" part of the review).

For the meh, some moments were a bit poorly done. I'm still not sure what the relationship between Doomhammer and Durotan was supposed to be. Are they friends, members of the same clan, two chieftains? Garona's fake plastic teeth always put a grin on my face, the bad grin of "oh dear this looks so dumb". And there were a few scenes that fell sort of flat. At one point Medivh(who's not in his normal state then, but it still comes off as wierd) says to King Llane "I am the Guardian Sire, I am here to help". And going "I am this role, this is what I do" in such a blatant way, even if it was to illustrate that Medivh wasn't in his normal state, still always sounds so poor.

For the bad, by far the worst problem to me was the amount of places and locations they wanted to illustrate too quickly. For the first half of the movie, we get to see Draenor, the Dark Portal, Stormwind, some fort near the Orcish position, the Kirin Tor, Medivh's Tower, and one or two others, and let's be clear: that was way too much too quickly. I remember the shot of the camera rising above the forest to show Dalaran(city of the Kirin Tor) and thinking "why are you taking us to a new place? We've already seen so many". Ironforge is in this movie, for less than two minutes. Why? To introduce that dwarves exist? It's fact of Warcraft lore that dwarves and elves have an extremely minor role, to not say no role at all, in the original Warcraft game, which is what this movie portrays.

The scenario in this movie and in the original game are both about humans, orcs, and Medivh's actions, along with Khadgar, Garona, and the captain in this movie. The addition of the Orcs is a great idea, but they don't help the problem. The movie just jumps around too much spending time to show locations instead of focusing on the characters, at least on its first half, the second half being more of a long conclusion to the situation.

And that's when the real bad shows up: the characters are really weak. Medivh is cool, has a lot of neat scenes, but fails to be as good as can be due to time constraints. Khadgar could've been the courageous and upstanding nerd who saved the day, the captain and King Llane could've been more, but they all came off as weak. The actors aren't fantastic either, but I don't mind it as much as I mind the lack of time given to them. So many scenes spent showing us places that have no importance to the plot like Stormwind or Ironforge should've been spent on them. The orcs' story is interestingly better because it's more focused on the characters and thus they come off much stronger than their human counterparts.

Had this movie been more focused and tried to pander to the fans less with its tourist-trap side, I think it could have been a solid 8, despite having only decent-to-good actors and being based on the plot of a very early strategy game that honestly isn't all that fantastic in the first place. It's shame, but by no means does it make this movie bad. It's competent, it did most things well enough, it was fun and it has a feel of amateurishness that gives it a flavor of goodwill rather than the tasteless brand of industrial, preprocessed movies hollywood puts out every year.

If you don't know what a murloc sounds like, you are surely going to be confused af watching this from start to finish. I didn't play Warcraft 1 but I played Warcraft 3 and clocked hundreds of hours on WoW over the last dozen of years, it's like seeing your imaginary best friend coming into real life!

I am so glad that I played a human priest in vanilla (also an undead lock during wotlk and undead priest. A good chunk of the movie was filmed in the lowbie zones around SW, and I could name every single town that was shown in the movie. There was a scene in SW and I knew that the bank was right behind the corner on the left! There were also some sweet ass cameos! Basically, every 5mins, I would think "O damn, that's where I used to farm boars for exp!" or "O damn, isn't that the main character from a later game?!" or "O damn, hes casting arcane torrent!". All the CG scenes were so damn beautiful.

They could have gotten rid of the romance stuff all together since it wasnt developed well enough. I didn't like Travis Femmels as Anduin Lothar much... Thought he was too much like his Viking king, Ragnar Lothbrok. Medivh could be more convincing if older but overall satisfactory performance. Khadgar, unlike the popular opinion, I thought his acting was fine too. Critics say the casters acting were over the top but I guess they don't understand DPS meters or how missing a single spell can wreck your raid.

This movie is by far the best video game to movie movie. When fans go see a movie of one of their favorite video games, they simply want to see the game coming to life with ultra high def real life graphics on a massive theater screen. They usually just want to see the familiar, not some surprise plot twist to ruin their game experience with crap movie story deviations! Given that, the plot changes in the movie were understandable to fit better with the movie franchise format.

This is a gift for gamers who have spent a good chunk of their life on this game and is a must see!

I'm probably a bigger fan of Warcraft and know more about the lore than most people here writing reviews. That said, I'm not blindly going to give it a 10/10 like many of the rapid fanboys are doing. While enjoyable, this move has some big problems. Some of the acting is mediocre and the movie just jumps around from scene to scene too quickly. This creates some pacing issues and makes everything feel very convoluted at times.

The high points of the movie definitely have to be the sets and combat scenes. The sets look very, very good and Stormwind and Dalaran are just breathtaking. The combat scenes are also exciting and well done-- not a whole lot I can say about these without giving away spoilers. But they're pretty thrilling to watch, especially the final battle. I wanted to love this movie, but I just can't. Even though I'm a huge fan of Warcraft, I just can't say that this is a good movie-- It''s not bad either, though. It's just.. an okay movie. if you're a fan of the franchise...yeah you should probably see this. But if you're unfamiliar with Warcraft, you'll probably want to skip this one or wait until it comes out on video.

The movie definitely could of used the extra hour that was cut out but besides that I can't find much not to like. It's actually kind of mind boggling that this movie was reviewed so poorly, its like 1 critic reviewed it bad early and then all the other critics jumped on the bandwagon to make some clickbait articles.

I saw it with 2 people who didn't play the game and they both enjoyed it, one of them loved it and asked me 1000s of questions after the other one said they enjoyed it just as much as Avatar. They both cried multiple times during the movie and the movie received a standing applause at the end.

The orcs are absolutely gorgeous, the acting is fantastic, the magic is the best movie magic I've seen to date, the immense detail on Durotan's face is something to behold.

I'll probably see this movie 3-4 times in theaters, my only critique is that the editors cut out that hour which would of fleshed out the characters more.

It was wonderful to seeWarcraft is bolstered by fantastic art direction, excellently executed CGI, and a deep world to explore. The lore is sometimes difficult to grasp for the uninitiated, but serves to give the movie a feeling of depth. It was wonderful to see that the characters I ended up connecting with the most were the performance captured Orcs--a true credit to the acting and technical skill on display. The film is infused with so much adventure, visual splendor, and fun that I can easily forgive its small number of short comings. It's not Shakespeare, nor does it need to be. There may be one or two miscast characters as well, but those that fill the rolls cannot be at fault because everyone gives an earnest effort in this slightly flawed, but otherwise wonderful journey. For what a number of critics have deemed a "bad" movie it sure is enjoyable. A sequel would be perfectly welcome. Expand
