This is my favourite Pixar movie ever, my favourite animated film, and one of my favourite films of all time. With some beautifully in-depth characters, Pixar animation at its best, and an amazing story for all ages.

Beautiful in visuals, story, and much more, Wall-E is one of the, if not, the best film to be made by Pixar. Grab the disc, head to the living room TV, and get ready to watch a masterpiece.

This movie's story and writing is just fantastic, with a sweet, heart-warming romance story between Wall-E and EVE, with no dialogue, just wonderful visuals and also a satire and social commentary on topics like pollution and the modern fast-food eating human society that made the Earth get polluted to the point that the human race had to leave.
As expected in a great Pixar movie, funny, emotional, exciting and tearjerking moments are all here. This movie is yet another flawless animated movie from Pixar, this can manage to entertain, inspire and send a powerful message to audiences from any age: from kids to adults. I can't put anything above a 10/10, but if I could, I would give it a lot more than that to this, The Incredibles, Ratatouille and Finding Nemo.

The first half hour is no dialogue and if you can make silence beautiful, you know that you have a great, amazing movie that you’ve created. If there’s such something as perfect 100 movie, this is it. This film is as close to perfection as they come. A beautiful and touching movie about the Earth and how we as a race can destroy our planet if we’re not careful. A perfect film in my book, along the likes of Toy Story 1 & 3, The Incredibles, and Finding Nemo. Also, if you liked this film, check out Coco, one of their most recent movies, you will be touched and sad. This film is the definition of a must see. Expand

There are about four or five other films that convey its story through such marvelous technology and emotional skill. Wall-E is a testament not only to animated but films entirely. The whole opening is told almost entirely through images and it looks beautiful. While earlier Pixar films have begun to look old given the limitations of animation at the time, Wall-E on the other hand is timeless. In fifty years time the animation will still be gorgeous. The power of cinema is visual storytelling and as aforementioned, the opening is almost without dialogue, with very minor exposition. But it remains completely engaging, wholesome and funny. The fact this is a kids film makes it so much more impressive. As for the character Wall-E, he is adorable and loveable. Pixar has this magic to create complexities and human emotion in anything, including a multitude of robots (even a cockroach). As the story develops we are transported to a different setting, where it becomes more conventional film. More dialogue, faster pacing, more story, a villain. However it still feels fresh and engaging, because of the delightful characters and an enjoyable plot that never loses its head or finds itself stagnating. There is a moment halfway through the film that is pure cinematic magic. Some criticise the scientific impossibilities, but that is a cold heartless way to view this magical science-FICTION visual masterpiece. It's absolutely glorious. Wall-E is also important. It is an incredible semi-satire that is essential for children and adults to understand. The environmental message will be forever relevant and while simple (well apparently not for everyone) it is absolutely necessary. It also explores other universal themes like love and while it may not have the most depth, it is more than refreshing enough for a children's film.

Wall-E is a gold standard. It is Pixar at their most creative, most engaging and still one of the best in terms of animation quality, despite being made over 10 years ago. They employs the powers of cinema perfectly, letting the image tell the story and rarely relying on exposition. For a kids film that is marvelous. Wall-E will forever have my admiration and respect as one of the most entertaining films subjectively, and one of the best films objectively (as objective as one can be). If you haven't seen this film, I urge you to check it out. Even if you aren't a fan of animated or kids films, this one goes above and beyond.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's an appreciation of how simplest things bring out the best joys in life. Made me rethink how beautiful a simple romance is, how robots can be more human than us. Simply it comes to show that we have to stop being too complicated and it sort of predicts what would happen if we don't take good care of our home, Earth. I watched this movie back in 2008 as a kid I just liked it. Now that I re watched this movie, I felt it had a powerful message to express love and peace to the world. Great job, great movie
Very enjoyable and a roller coaster ride of emotion.

I watched this movie on Disney+ 10 mins ago. I was so moved by it that after the film I just remained stationary for a whole minute, before clapping my hands for pixar's most astonishing achievement. The animation was incredible, the space scenes were just exquisite and the spaceship scene was wonderfully done, with some great creativity behind the making of the whole thing. The opening sequence of Wall-E was stunning. There's no dialogue but even then you're hooked to the story. This film not only sheds a light on pollution and the need to take care of the environment, but also is telling us what the earth in 500 years might be. The chemistry between Wall-e and Eve is brilliant and it also manages to be funny by adding a few hilarious characters in a superb script. Wall-E is a colossal achievement in terms of animation and screenplay for an animated film. This can surely be considered one of Pixar's best, if not the best film. Expand

I saw its poster in the newspaper and thought it was a cool robot movie. I asked my mom to let me watch it but since we come from a very conservative family, I wasn't allowed to. We didn't have a TV at home and even when we got one, we didn't have Disney Channel paid on it. So I finally got to see it a few years ago when I was travelling in the metro. And boy this is such a good movie, I'm really disappointed I didn't see it earlier.
WALL-E is everything we expect from a Pixar movie. It has a central character who is identified by his desire to do something big. He is living alone on a deserted planet, still cleaning up everything because that was his job. His innocence is what makes him so interesting. The movie is also moving forward with character development and world building, which makes us, the viewers, know just as much as WALL-E does. There is nothing that we don't know and a concept comes from out of the blue. The only other Pixar movie I can think of where this happens is Cars.
The second important character in the movie is EVE. WALL-E falls in love with her not only because she is also a humanoid robot with a feminine touch and voice, but also because she is the only other creature WALL-E has seen in this post-apocalyptic world. Other than her he has only seen rats and cockroaches, and we have seen how he treats them as a friend too. This is a metaphor of how we see the little things in life when we have nothing to either distract us or to force us to do something else. This is why WALL-E gets so much distressed when EVE puts the plant inside her and switches off, and also why he decides to follow her to space.
In space also WALL-E is really confused. He was never designed for space, nor had he ever seen what space looked and felt like. He had also seen the humans physically for the first time, who have deformed to a point where they are no longer recognisable. Speaking of the humans, their bones have gone detached and they are literal jellybeans at this point, who can no longer work. And they are not in a shape to continue working for very long at this rate, which can lead to their extinction. All of this happened because humans didn't care about the planet and focused more on leaving it than fixing it.
Once the humans finally reach Earth, they start their civilisation afresh on the abandoned planet. This is the most important message in the movie; it is never too late to redeem yourself. Many people think that the message of the movie is just to preserve the planet, but in my opinion THIS is the true message. Finally EVE and WALL-E unite and they live happily ever after, which makes it the most Pixar movie to ever exist. The animation, music, cinematography, everything is perfect. It is also suitable to people of all ages.
This is one of those movies which will be used to define what the animated movies of our era used to be like. It is cool, it is well made, it has a message, it has many fans and it's made by Disney. Plus it has so much emotion. If this is not the perfect Pixar movie, I don't know what is.

You'd think robot voice-overs would get annoying, but they are actually done wonderfully in a cute sort of way. I didn't think this movie was the greatest animation ever made, but I score it highly for its uniqueness, the development of the relationship between two unconventional stars [Wall-E & Eva], and the anticipation of which way the storyline was headed [built up a little suspense/curiosity]. I was kind of surprised that it felt like more of an adult oriented animation in that the beginning of the film was shot with little-to-no dialogue [hold a young kids attention span?], but rather watching Wall-E go about doing his thing and introducing himself to the audience. Kind of gutsy, but I suppose the kids love it nonetheless. Expand

What Pixar, Stanton and his team have created is a heart-warming throwback to the core values of what we as humans should be embracing, purity and at the centre of that, love. Stanton has achieved that through a most unlikely but completely enchanting and loveable character in Wall-E. To watch him potter around a once rich and teeming landscape now reduced to a desolate wasteland by the greed and inaction of the human race, casually collecting up trinkets of a lost civilisation along the way and enjoying the 9 to 5 job for which he was created was nothing short of a delight. To watch him develop a sense of his duty to the human race was profound. No mention needs to be made of the films visual qualities - it is as expected. Stanton delivers also on the speed and pace of the movie. You are never left wanting. The movie opens with the unsettling imagery of the earth's landscape in complete disarray. It is familiar and yet disturbing all at once. Earth is a complete mess and has been so for 700 years previous, save for the extraordinary efforts of the little leading robot. You literally love Wall-E at first site and for the more jaded among us, grow to love him as the movie progresses. Wall-E is to modern cinema what Chaplin was to pantomime. This cannot be understated and the significance of Wall-E's onscreen presence, by and large, should have every audience member captivated. By and Large? Possibly an acronym for the films corporate villain, BnL? The addition of EVE served to provide the audience with the perfect foil for Wall-E's doting eccentrics and the perfect partner it seemed for Wall-E himself. A classic example of the lady and the tramp, a loveable charming lout, rough around the edges, trying to and succeeding in, gaining the affections of the upper class lady. The two fit perfectly despite coming from obviously different environmental backgrounds. The scenes involving EVE and Wall-E are pure cinematic genius. You find yourself asking if its possible to actually "love" a robot but in Wall-E it is actually possible. It is initially an alien notion but you find yourself warming to him when you gradually discover you indeed share many of the same affections and traits. His dance routine with the hubcap, the way he tried on the bra, keeping the box and throwing the diamond ring away and the way he grasped at his metallic appendages while watching the old VHS being notable examples. Scenes involving Wall-E's complete selflessness are tear jerking and you cant help but feel for the little guy when, having been rescued from deep space ejection, he crawls, mangled and critically damaged, to retrieve the plant that the future of the human race depends on. Handing it to EVE, he says "Dirrr...ect..ive" and at that moment the only "directive" in your subconscious is to burst out crying. Even more upsetting was the sad realisation that having been repaired and rebooted by EVE upon return to earth, Wall-E seemed never to be himself again, his memory apparently having been erased. An electronic kiss from EVE restores his memory and finally we, onscreen cast included, all breathe a sigh of relief. Without drawbacks as such to comment on, the only "drawback" I can see is that there are actually people out there who didnt love this film to bits. Those in this category need to ask themselves some very hard questions indeed! A+ Expand

After that point, the movie is good, but never quite reaches its full potential, what we would have LIKED to have seen happen. The movie was consistently funny though not often laugh out loud. It was more of a consistent grin that left you feeling a little more hope for the world if only that there is such a movie that can potentially spark one to think about how they are living and what consequences it may be having on the world. There was also a love story interwoven though strangely not of that of between humans. This sub plot I found entertaining and even somewhat touching. It also is what drove the story to it conclusions. Not to be corny but it was the power of love that saved humanity and the world not that of simple cold logic. In any case I highly recommend any adult or child to see this movie. It is good clean fun with a very apt message for the times. Expand

I would have been happy to stay there, marveling at the movies depth for another 60 minutes. However, the movie was a mere 90 minutes, with at least a third being simply an introduction to Wall-E and Eve. It left just enough time to give a satisfying conflict and resolution, but it felt rushed. I really want to give this a 10, but the structure problems are disappointing. It's a no-brainer that Pixar's latest, a futuristic tale of a scruffy little trash-collecting robot left behind on earth to do its job long after all the human residents left, who falls in love with a sleeker model, would've been a strong Top 10 contender in both the Animation and Science Fiction genres, but consider the AFI's #1 choice for Best Romantic Comedy: City Lights, the 1931 Charlie Chaplin film that Chaplin resolutely made as a silent even after silent movies had gone the way of the passenger pigeon. Well, WALL-E (the first two thirds, anyway) is PRACTICALLY a silent: there's no real dialogue since WALL-E's and EVE's conversations consist entirely of whirrs, clicks, beeps and the repitition of their own and each other's names, but that's all you need--if WALL-E's pursuit of EVE doesn't steal your heart, then ANY famous screen robot--say, Robby or Gort--has more of one than you do. It goes without saying that Pixar keeps raising the bar (and, bless 'em, has caused rival animation studios to up THEIR games: DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda and Blue Sky's Horton Hears A Who! represent their best efforts yet) but who would've guessed that the visuals of our deserted planet so effortlessly blend live-action and animation art, or at least that's what I THINK they do, that Robert Zemeckis, who's been trying hard for a similar effect with both The Polar Express and Beowulf, must've been in the theater feverishly taking notes during repeated viewings, or that WALL-E would replicate and enhance so many of Stanley Kubrick's themes and ideas, while adding in abundance the one quality that Kubrick completely lacks (except in Spartacus, which he disowned): warmth? The first two acts of WALL-E are so extraordinary that the final third, in which WALL-E and EVE learn where the earthlings went (and we get treated to The Obligatory John Ratzenberger Pixar Vocal Appearance) is inevitably going to be something of a letdown, and indeed it's just a bit too preachy and on-the-nose for me to completely wrap myself around it, but even here it's hard not to admire writer-director Andrew Stanton's utter chutzpah. His critique of a spoiled and overly-indulged consumerist society is pretty hard to resist, especially given that Pixar and Disney are themselves huge corporations relying on huge DVD and video-game sales of films like WALL-E, whose partial message is, "Hey, you kids, turn off that damn TV/computer and go outside and get some exercise!" And I love the way that WALL-E's depiction of "Buy-N-Large" is no doubt causing blood pressures to rise in the boardrooms of a certain mega-concern, who can certainly refuse to sell Robert Greenwald's documentary Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price but knows that boycotting DVDs of THIS movie would be absolute financial stupidity, even if most first graders in the audience have no problem making certain connections. One more note concerning the title character and hero: a few years ago I commented on this site that one of the many problems with Blue Sky's Robots was that it's impossible to make sharp-edged, metallic, non-furry creatures (or, more accurately, creations) cuddly and lovable. It takes a big man to admit he's wrong. Call me big. Expand

WALL-E is a brilliantly animated film from Pixar that underscores all that make their films great and touches you in a special way. While the subtext is not exactly subtle in any sense of the word, it is still a great message. However, whereWALL-E is a brilliantly animated film from Pixar that underscores all that make their films great and touches you in a special way. While the subtext is not exactly subtle in any sense of the word, it is still a great message. However, where this film really blows you away is in the characterization of its robot protagonists and the way it makes you feel their emotions. A truly romantic and epic journey of two robots who fall in love, WALL-E is incredibly adorable and powerful, all while the world surrounding the robots is entirely lethargic and barren. While the message of the film is good, this relationship and the way they make them come to life without either robot speaking a single word absolutely stunned me. Additionally, it did a great job blending what appeals to the kids and what appeals to the adults very well and made a very family friendly film that will leave everyone feeling satisfied. Overall, WALL-E is a fantastically made and incredibly powerful film that will leave you wanting to get up off the couch and sit down and watch a movie with lots of dancing and singing. Expand
