Excellent movie. Some flaws include lack of dialogue, and a bit hard to precept from the child mind. However, children will grow older to love & appreciate the movie. Best movie of summer 2008 by far.

What made this movie so great was that it wasn't just about a lonely robot looking for love. It was also about a driod's struggle between duty and her emotions, the man who wanted to live life, the devastation on the environment that could happen in the future, the emotionless robot who would follow orders even if it was wrong, and human-dependecy in the future. The story of WALL-E proves to be more orginal than a father clownfish trying to search for his son, the rat that wanted to cook, and the car that learned good values. Also, there was great sound mixing by Ben Brutt. There was visuals as artistic as Finding Nemo. I wouldn't count on it but... watching WALL-E marks the first time I believe an animated film deserves an oscar for Best Picture. Expand

From the stellar, breathtaking visuals to the amazing stories. Seriously, it seems like Pixar is one of the only companies that actually knows how to tell a great story and focuses on that, rather than Dreamworks, who just relies on quick, superficial laughs to carry its own horrendous weight (although they have come out with some masterpieces despite themselves). I had extremely high expectations for this movie, and so I was worried I would be disappointed, but this movie exceeded my wildest dreams. The characters are instantly lovable, the story is fascinating, and the movie itself is so beautifully moving, one cannot but help call it a masterpiece. Good, clean fun with a great story to boot! Wall-E is on a desolate Earth, and the future sucks. A lot. Its beautiful, but due to the desolation is very dark. He's a very cute little robot, and he takes good care of his little collection of objects. Then he finds a pet cockroach and a pet plant and takes care of them as well, and finally, he meets the first other "real" character - EVE. The people at Pixar did a wonderful job making the robots look great and convey emotion, and the movie is a pretty good romance set in a pretty depressing future. I have to give it a perfect score because it is the pinnacle of movie-making and the best film of 2008. Its wonderful, touching, funny, heartwarming, and depressing, all in a rated G movie. Expand

WALL-E's powerful first halfWALL-E is a special kind of movie that is soaked in wit, a spirit of adventure and, rarest of all, sincerity. There is an innocent joy evident within this film of which theaters have not seen in quite some time. WALL-E's powerful first half involves little dialogue and though some may find it boring, the movie never loses sight of where its going and what it wants to be. The second half is more standard Pixar fare but is enhanced by the attachment we grow towards WALL-E early on in the movie. This movie does not try to dazzle us with special effects or perplex us with a complex plot. The animation, though amazing, and the plot, though interesting, never overtake the characters in terms of importance. Pixar' took two significant risks with this movie: taking a slow approach to the scenes on Earth and having a largely speechless main character. Both paid off handsomely making WALL-E an affecting and enthralling classic. Expand

Wall-E is even better than I remember it. Wall-E is an ingenious film that occurs thousands of years in the future. Humans no longer live on the Earth due to pollution, they instead live in a giant spaceship, called the Axim. The Wall-E robots are left at Earth to clean up the mess. All of the Wall-E's, however, have been wiped out over time. Only one remains. But when EVE, a robot from the Axim, comes to Earth to find life, Wall-E's life is flipped upside down. The first half-hour of the film is performed with minimal dialogue, but still mananges to express all kinds of emotion: Laughter, loneliness, perhaps even sadness. I cried multiple times throughout the film. The animation is gorgeous, even for today. And the musical score, composed by Thomas Newman, is excellent. There really isn't any sort of flaw to this film. It's entertaining, it's funny, it has a lot of heart, there's amazing animation, and an impressive musical score. Of course, I haven't even touched base on the best aspect of the film: the characters. Wall-E has, perhaps, some of the most memorable (and hilarious) characters in all Pixar history. From the quirky Wall-E, to the grumpy M-O, to the rotund captain of the Axim, there's an endless abundance of charming cast members. Wall-E is easily one of the greatest films ever made. Period. Will they be able to top their last film?" With "WALL-E," not only has Pixar topped "Ratatouille" and maintained their crown, but they have created what might be one of the greatest films in history. If there was a such thing as a perfect film, "WALL-E" is it: it's one of the most beautifully animated films out there, it's funny, it's emotional, it's thought-provoking, it's got an incredible story, and it has some of the greatest characters in film. This is Pixar doing what they do best: making crowd-pleasing films for both children and adults alike. "WALL-E" is cinematic brilliance, and it's one of those movies that no one, and I mean NO ONE, should miss. Expand

The first 40 mins of Wall-E is a cinematic poem on cosmic loneliness. There's no dialogue, no voice-over; it's just pure atmosphere. The plot is surprisingly bleak. Humans have abandoned the planet but they had forgotten to turn off the last robot, which dutifully continues to do its job. Wall-E's cheerful optimism makes the film's opening feel even darker. He has so much love to give but there's no one to receive it. That is until he encounters another robot, Eve, who's sent to earth to look for vegetation. The word-less love story between Wall-E (the humble garbage man) and Eve (the supermodel) is one of the most beautiful ideas I've ever witnessed on film. Wall-E is Chaplin-esque in its emotional purity and Keaton-esque in its nimbleness.
And sure the humans are boring and uninteresting but I think they were intended to be that way. Just as Ratatouille was about the universality of art, Wall-E is about its power and importance. Without art, passion and creativity, humans lose their humanity. Wall-E suggests that as we replace nature with technology, we also replace our souls and individuality with a hive-like mentality.
Moreover it's visually gorgeous. Pixar has launched some of the standout films of the past decade but none of them top Wall-E. Now let's be honest with ourselves, Wall-E isn't just one of the greatest animated films ever made, it's one of the greatest films, period. Who said popular films can't be art? Wall-E is magical.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A spectacular masterpiece Disney Pixar has made its own 2001: A Space Odyssey

A touching tear-jerking odyssey of a lovable robotic trash compactor Wall-E who lives in a heavily polluted and uninhabited Planet Earth, 700 years into the future, who gets lovestruck with a mysterious visitor from deep space, a Vegetation evaluator called EVE.

Soon WALL-E finds himself following EVE out of this world, across the Galaxy and soon in a distant surviving human outpost were Humanity's only hope for sustaining life is left at the hands of the two and a precious living plant from Earth, and the malfunctioning machinery that threatens to stop them and continue to corrupt the last surviving remnants of the human race.

A powerful climatic space saga, I was amazed at getting a chance to see this film in theaters, Highly recommendable its one of the best animated films that can't be avoided!

I loved every minute of it. And you know what? A lot of people agree with me! It was the ninth highest grossing film back in 2008. The relationship with Wall-E and Eve is very strong, and most of the characters are likable. I think people hate the second half because they weren't interested what the ship offers (which is surprising, if you ask me). The humans act the same, with the exception of a couple, and people really liked the first half where there was only little dialogue, and we only had to focus on Wall-E and Eve. But, like I said before, I LOVED this movie. I hope Pixar would make more great films like this. Expand

I'm a grumpy curmudgeon, and I don't deal out perfect scores easily.

But here I have no choice! WALL-E is a piece of sublime cinematic art, cute, deep, funny, and with some of the most breathtakingly *beautiful* scenes ever made in a movie - for instance the "space dance" scene is a pure feast for the senses.

Even the credit roll is a stunningly beautiful, and even forms a creative little "what happened next" visual mini-story, with a wonderful song of Peter Gabriel. His best song ever actually IMO, almost as if he was born to do this credit roll song and his former career was merely the preparation.

When even the friggin' *credit rolls* in a movie about a friggin' *trash compactor robot* leaves you stunned and teary-eyed with emotion, then you know you're dealing with absolute perfection in the art of movie making!

If you haven't seen it yet, you're one lucky bastard - you still have this experience ahead of you!

This is not only one of the best CGI movies of all time, it is one of the best movies ever made, full stop.

Wall-E is a small robot that was produced in series by the millions to clean up all the dirt that covered the planet, while the human race lived in a gigantic spaceship in orbit, fleeing to a polluted and uninhabitable planet. But now itWall-E is a small robot that was produced in series by the millions to clean up all the dirt that covered the planet, while the human race lived in a gigantic spaceship in orbit, fleeing to a polluted and uninhabitable planet. But now it remains only one, and he got feelings. What will happen when he falls in love? Written and directed by Andrew Stanton, this animated film from Disney / Pixar has a good cast of voice actors, headed by Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight and Jeff Garlin.

For me, this is a particularly beautiful film that seeks to prove the power of love and feelings. Feelings can be so strong that even a machine, made for the most impersonal and inhuman tasks, can love. Another topic that this film deftly explores is our current waste crisis. The planet, more polluted than ever, will have a limit? Will we one day (and our planet) will no longer be able to deal with the waste we produce? And if that happens, there will be hope?

The script is excellent, the story is very moving and how it develops is very fluid and natural. The quality and realism of the animation is what we expect from Pixar and Disney, two giants of animated world. It's not a movie just for kids, it will easily appeal to audiences of all ages. The voice actors were well chosen and did a good job, even though half of the film does not have any elaborate dialogue. The scenarios are excellent in both the planet and the human ship. The characters were made in interesting ways, but the ones that stand out are the robot Wall-E and Eve, who are more human than most people. The soundtrack is also very good.
