Really fun adaptation of the Playstation game and hope they make another.

A great action-adventure film. It's definitely a fun movie to sit down and watch. It's not bad as some make it out to be unless you're expecting the storyline to resemble the game which it definitely does not and is not intended to be. ThisA great action-adventure film. A fun movie to watch with the kids and a great mindless popcorn flick overall. Uncharted has no pretention of being anything but a two hours Escape Game fun romp spiked with witty banters, action scenes and the barest of characterization needed to keep the stakes high and events involving. And I think that's perfectly fine. Not every movie needs to redefine the medium and being fun for the sake of being fun is a valid approach to movie making.

So, with that said, how does Uncharted fare when judged for what it wants to be and not what you wished it was ?

It's... genuinely great ?
Its biggest strength has to be the pacing : nothing feels superfluous. Scenes fluidly transition from one setpiece to the next, every interaction serves a purpose and new elements are constantly introduced ; the heroes obviously succeed but every plan is met with unforeseen complications solved by quick thinking and skill, a constant back and forth keeping you on edge. Yes, this isn't breaking any new ground, but it's done flawlessly and consistently, which is almost as impressive as the action itself.

Would I recommend watching Uncharted ?
Depends on what you're looking for in a movie. Uncharted does one thing almost perfectly and offers nothing else : if you're not here for larger-than-life characters chewing the scenery you've come to the wrong movie.… Expand

If there was ever a video game series that seemed perfectly suited to be turned into a movie, it was Uncharted. The whole point of those games was to capture the same quality of action, set pieces, humor, and storytelling found in only theIf there was ever a video game series that seemed perfectly suited to be turned into a movie, it was Uncharted. The whole point of those games was to capture the same quality of action, set pieces, humor, and storytelling found in only the very best of Hollywood blockbusters and present them in a playable format. Something they succeeded at marvelously. Evidently, the developers at Naughty Dog set the bar too high however, as this somewhat inevitable feeling film adaptation ironically fails to match the level of spectacle found in the source material or deliver the heartwarming character relationships that made its stories so beloved.

While it's disappointing to see the brand not live up to the standards its fans expect when transferring into the very medium of entertainment it had been designed to ape for so long, it's more of an amusing paradox rather than an experience-ruining fault as the right assortment of elements are in place to still make for a pretty great, yet not as clever Indiana Jones knockoff. Honestly, its biggest issues are ones we've seen from Sony Pictures and the director before, most notably in their prior collaboration on Venom. Namely, SPE not being able to deliver the same graphical fidelity of the company's excellent PlayStation gaming consoles or even their animation studio, and Ruben Fleischer's inability to create truly thrilling action sequences.

Ultimately, the film manages to coast by primarily on the charisma of its stars and the strength of their comedic interactions though. I actually loved the new, younger interpretations of these heroes as it lays some nice groundwork for the sequels to build upon. The only aspect about it that kind of bugged me is that there's no element of camaraderie between its leads, with them even constantly double-crossing and screwing each other over all throughout the running time, which looking back was such an enjoyable aspect of the narratives in the games. It makes sense however given that this is their first time meeting and working together, while also setting the foundation for their familial bonds to grow moving forward. So I can't really complain about it too much.

Honestly, despite pointing out the areas where improvements need to be made (visuals, scale of exciting moments), I'm left with very little to complain about at all. Not just for the potential of what the franchise could achieve in theaters in the future, but for what it's offering right now at this very second. I laughed and had a blast with the globetrotting antics, while Tom Holland proved to be just as endearing outside of the Spider-Man tights as in them. They didn't bother including a pointless romance subplot with Chloe (it's Elena or no one, bub) either, managing to completely remove that uncomfortable womanizing streak I had come to associate with Nate in the past. This might not be the full cinematic representation Uncharted deserves or is capable of, but I'm clamoring for more regardless.

Much better than I thought. This is an origin movie. So I imagine the sequel will be a little more free to improve on verdin aspects of the plot. They missed the mark with the movie's score. I skipped this movie until it unexpectedly hit Netflix because I thought the trailers were indicative of something truly awful. I was wrong.

The movie is a really solid adaption of a story in the spirit of the Uncharted video games, with a cast that does a great job depicting younger versions of the protagonists amazingly well. Seriously.

Visuals, score and story as well as acting live up to the games, but the surprise to me was how well the movie worked given how put off I was by the trailers. No idea what went wrong there.

I want to especially apologize to Mr Holland, who I thought was completely miscast for this role (the trailer led me to believe he was fundamentally playing Spiderman in a different costume) but delivered a rock solid and recognizable performance as Nathan Drake.

For the story, yes, it's not entirely believable and has some wild twists and changes in scenery, but, and this is the crucial thing: seen as a whole, it'd make perfect sense as a video game, and this is what the franchise is, after all.

Im an Uncharted megafan, and i was pretty cheesed at the casting I wanted Nathan Fillion. Begrudgingly I gave the film a chance and I actually really enjoyed it lol. I really enjoyed it. I have not played the game ever, so take that into account. As a movie it seemed quite nice and I can't comment on comparison to game. I'm a huge Uncharted fan, so I thought I'd dislike this film, given how long it has been in development and how controversial certain aspects of it have been. But I honestly really enjoyed it. But I honestly really enjoyed it. It's not the perfect movie, and we all know some aspects of the casting could've been improved. But regardless of that, the film was lots of fun, and had a really exciting sense of adventure and exploration. The acting was mostly solid, the sets were awesome, the action sequences were exciting, and the story was interesting too - especially in the ways it set up potential sequels. It felt like Uncharted to me, even with different faces than the games. I'm hopeful the movie will perform well, so we can get some sequels, that lean more towards the games!… Expand

So, first off I love the Uncharted series to death as this movie definitely has its flaws but it still felt like Uncharted to me. I actually felt Tom Holland was a great cast as a young Nathan Drake. Mark Wahlberg on the other hand less so...So, first off I love the Uncharted series to death as this movie definitely has its flaws but it still felt like Uncharted to me. I actually felt Tom Holland was a great cast as a young Nathan Drake. Mark Wahlberg on the other hand less so... I still saw some Sully moments in him but, my main complaint with the whole movie is really Sully feeling like generic Mark Wahlberg.

But really this movie I don't understand why some people hate it so much and it's probably mainly because it's a video game adaptation. It's a 2-hour movie for a video game franchise that's typically a 15ish hour run time. It didn't really have the time to establish what the video games have done. But that's still no real excuse but I honestly feel like the future for video game adaptations is tv shows after watching Arcane and I think this would've made a great web series which I can point to the Nathan Fillion fan-made short film to prove that.

But overall I give this movie an 8 out of 10 when you come into this understanding it's not Uncharted but it's based on Uncharted and kind of having cautiously optimistic expectations it's still just a really fun movie that anyone can really enjoy, if you have a non-gamer girlfriend and you want to show her Uncharted take her to this movie, I'm sure she'll love it, not just because of Tom Holland but because it's really fun.… Expand

While it isn’t the greatest action/adventure movie to ever hit the screens it is a competent and fun adventure movie with a touch of Indian Jones. As a first outing for Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg as Nate and Sully it is an enjoyable adaptation that pays tribute to the source but leaves open the potential for the movies to go in their own direction which I think would be beneficial, letting the actors make the characters their own would be a good move.

I think if you want a fun movie to watch with some kids 10+ (there is some swearing and killing in it), it would be a good weekend movie.… Expand

Any other music would have done a better job at this point. I get that they wanted the best since they hired the composer Ramin Djawadi but he didn't take this project seriously and it shows. For someone this talented(really good) something feels off because any human being that can hum a melody with their mouth can come up with something better.(but you be the judge).

I feel sad that i remember only hearing the game's theme song at the credit roll.

The casting was really good. The dialogs were kept light but always with intent and the action kept flowing. A good introduction for non fans.

Whenever there is great complicity between actors in a movie it always shows. The best thing about this movie in my opinion is Drake and Sully's relation and its culmination towards the end. Made it worthwhile.
I think for the way it was presented and shown throughout there should be a second one and i am looking forward to it.
Mark Wahlberg pulled off a badass young Sully. Egotistical, a-hole, sensitive, funny and greedy with a heart of gold.

Keep in mind that they are doing the young version of the characters.
Lot of good compromises for only 2 hours and still the essence of uncharted is there at every corner.

There was a weird moment were a character in a scene was Cropped like the first time i used photoshop.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Unlike most video game movie adaptations, Uncharted is quite refreshing and shows us the origin of the lovely story that is Nathan Drake. Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, while not fan-favorite choices, do a good job of embodying the spirit and banter of the franchise’s two main characters, Nathan “Nate” Drake and Victor "Sully" "Goddamn" Sullivan. Uncharted is a clear service to longtime fans of the series. Taking huge inspiration from the games in one of the Uncharted series most iconic scenes. A sense of adventure along with large-scale, over-the-top, well-choreographed action sequences that some may find obnoxious but are reminiscent of their video game counterpart. A couple of emotional and goosebump-inducing callbacks to the video games including an amazing nostalgic scene with the original voice actor of Nate, Nolan North. A nod to Greg Edmonson's “Nate’s Theme” as Tom Holland’s Drake dons the iconic gun holsters. All this while also bringing a new enjoyable interpretation for newcomers to the series. While there may be some corny jokes, forgettable villains, and questionable casting choices, how director Ruben Fleischer managed to encapsulate some but not all of Uncharted’s glory into this 1 h 56-minute movie deserves some recognition. While it cannot compare to the G.O.A.T. of treasure hunter movies in Indiana Jones, it plays second fiddle pretty well. I think fans of the game along with newcomers introduced to the story of Nathan Drake through this movie will find it to be good and with hints in after-credit scenes be excited for more to come.… Expand

Uncharted: Just like every video game movie I’d rather play the game. But that doesn’t mean it was bad, I actually had a good time in the movie. Tom Holland as always is joy on screen and it’s cool seeing him play a character I love. MarkUncharted: Just like every video game movie I’d rather play the game. Mark Wahlberg as Sully came as a surprise but he was also very good, he and Tom had great on screen chemistry and it worked. All the other members are really good to, but this is taking liberty’s of I want to say the first three in particular I mean Nate does wear his Uncharted 4 outfit but there’s obviously the plane setpiece which was the best part, and there’s tons of Easter eggs like NOLAN NORTH showing up as a cameo which was just awesome. The action is Uncharted and when I say it gets crazy it really does get crazy especially the finale. Sure I would rather play the games but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have any fun, it’s a great cheesy movie and fun popcorn movie just turn your brain off and enjoy this badass ride. As a big fan of the game, I can admit that if you give this movie a chance it does deliver a ride with the heart, laughter and thrills the franchise is famous for. It's worth the watch.

And I left the movie theater and enjoyed it, I thought there was a lot of the game, I bought the idea of Drake and Sully being young, being everything in the beginning. I loved the references, like Nolan North, Nathan's actor in the games, appears, Nathan's clothes in the post credit scene, white and red, would be the clothes he would wear in the first game.

I watched it today, and it was a run movie. I'd known about uncharted dor a while, and I decided to give this a shot, and went with my family, and it was a pretty fun and interesting movie. I don't know what the negative reviews are all about. Uncharted is exactly what you think it's going to be. Cheesy dialogue, big action scenes and mindless fun. I liked the movie it wasn't bad and pretty funny. However, who the hell is Braddock? Stop ruining the franchise by making up useless no purpose characters. Some other things were also off but mostly passable.

As a fan of the games, this doesn’t feel enough like them. Tom Holland as Drake and Mark Wahlberg as his mentor Sully have brother like chemistry. Holland and Wahlberg are miscast, yet good despite feeling like they wandered off the set of another movie. While Tati Gabrielle (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is never bad in anything. She for example feels like she wandered off the set of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
While the games had a lot of shoot-outs. There’s not many shoot-outs in the movie either. Yet the movie did keep my attention there’s plenty of adventure and double crosses. There’s just not much suspense.… Expand

A huge fan of the games, having played through all 4 and the spin-off, and I gotta say it a was really enjoyable movie. Tom Holland had an incredible performance as a young Drake. I also really liked the actress who played Chloe, she definitely brought the Chloe vibe from the games. The set pieces were great and the action overall was to notch as could be expected from a blockbuster production like this. This definitely could have been better though, and people coming into this expecting a very loyal adaption of the games might leave a bit disappointed. Regardless, I still had a really fun time with it and am looking forward to see where this goes next if they decide to go with a sequel.… Expand

Uncharted was pretty good, it was a very fun and entertaining movie to watch but it was greatly lacking in originality, it just felt like I'd seen it many times before. Tom Holland's performance was definitely the highlight of the movie, he gave a superb performance with him perfectly balancing the humor, heart, and trauma of the character. The rest of the performances were good but nothing to spectacular. The fight choreography and action scenes were awesome and very well executed. The visual effects were pretty great. I felt the writing was the biggest downfall of the movie with the story being pretty generic, the dialogue feeling kinda unnatural at times, and there lacking pretty much any character development. Overall I enjoyed it a lot and hope to see a sequel or two or more.… Expand

Well, I'm not gonna lie. I was already pretty scared based on the trailers. In the end, it still turned out well. The biggest draw of the whole movie was the pacing. You don't wait too long for anything. It sucked me in right from the startWell, I'm not gonna lie. I was already pretty scared based on the trailers. In the end, it still turned out well. The biggest draw of the whole movie was the pacing. You don't wait too long for anything. It sucked me in right from the start and didn't let go until the end. The action was great and there was plenty of it. Something was constantly happening and it even worked in the finale except for the ending, which although was great on the action side, I didn't like much on the story side. It was good, but it was too fast. At the end the pace could have slowed down a bit and finished the story properly and speaking of the plot, it was... how can you say. Not to mention the gameplay was good, but from the perspective of someone who's played all four episodes, it's probably a bit of a pain. There are a few changes to the script. Personally, I think either the movie shouldn't have followed the story of the game at all and made it their own, or if they did follow the game, they should have made it accurate. It's a shame. It's a bit of a mess. But what threw the movie off the most for me was the character of Sully, which I didn't think matched the in-game one, and that was a bit annoying in places for a fan of the franchise. To sum it up. If you go into the movie thinking you haven't played the games, I think this will be a good action flick for you. If you go to the movie as a player of the franchise, you'll probably have some things to fault it for. But I still enjoyed the movie as an Uncharted gamer and consider it one of the better game adaptations. For me, a good movie that I recommend to action enthusiasts and as for gamers, I would recommend the movie to those who are able to ignore the game at times and forgive some changes.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have played all the uncharted game, and was pretty excited of for the movie to be honest. And it was obviously not a masterpiece, but still pretty damn fun. The plane cargo scene was a great nostalgia trip of one of the best scenes in the whole Uncharted series (In uncharted 3). And Tom Holland is just a nice charismatic guy. But to me he didn't fully feel like Nathan Drake. He felt like Spiderman dressing up as Nathan Drake and hunting treasure. But every now and then I would hear him say something that I can imagine Nathan Drake saying. But Mark Wahlberg as Sully, didn't really work for me. Sully in the games is a grumpy old man who has a soft spot for Nathan Drake. But here he is missing the iconic cigar and moustache and beard. He's also a bit of a d*ick in this film to be honest. All he cares about is money, and while you could say that about Sully from the games, as I mentioned earlier he has a soft spot for Nate. Also the first villain, the Spanish guy is honestly pretty uninteresting. He feels mostly uninteresting, and is so forgettable he just gets killed an hour before the film even finishes. And the other antagonist, the combat lady is also pretty boring if you ask me. I honestly would not mind if Harry Flynn or Lazarevic from the games popped up. Seeing just an insane treasure hunting Russian man would be pretty fun. Even though this is kind of a prequel, and Lazarevic only shows up in a few years, whatever, In think it would still be fun. As mentioned before, the action is pretty great. Also Chloe Frazer is pretty underused. She's a great character in the games, but here she shows up, betrays Nathan, and then disappears for the final act of the film. The best scene in this entire film is easily the Nolan North cameo on the beach, I laughed the hardest at that part compared to anything else. Still, a fun action film about treasure. I recommend for Hardcore fans.… Expand

Pełne klisz i Hollywoodzkiej prostoty jednak przygodę ogląda się przyjemnie a relacja Drake'a oraz Sully'iego to coś niesamowitego. No i do tego wiele smaczków oraz odniesień do gry. Szkoda, że antagonista kuleje i jest strasznie nijaki.

Naprawdę przyjemny do oglądania film, problemem prób ekranizacji filmu jest fakt że żaden film "na podstawie gry" w te 2-2,5h nie odda tej chemii między postaciami niestety. Ale jako rozrywka i akcja film sie nadaje.

Typically video game movies do not have a reputation for making a good movie, this one was pretty decent. I had never heard of the game before, I went in with a fresh perspective and expectations. I did read in previous reviews that it reminded people a lot of National Treasure and I very much agree. There were moments in the moment that were predictable or made me roll my eyes but come on, it's a video game movie. I expected a number of those. I would recommend seeing this to my friends looking for something fun to watch. Be sure to stay for an after credit or two. Side note, not sure if anyone else noticed Rotten Tomatoes sensors the users scores on this movie. Throttling reviews. Which made me come here instead.… Expand

I love the uncharted games, so I was very excited to see this. At the same exact time, I was worried that it would be hot garbage, so I was hesitant. But I can confidently say that I had a great time watching this movie. It was fun, TomI love the uncharted games, so I was very excited to see this. It was fun, Tom Holland was charismatic as usual and fit as Nathan Drake better than I thought he would. Mark Walberg was also great, although I get a different vibe from his Sully than the one in the games. Admittedly it could have been better for sure. The villains were a pretty cliche at times, and I wanted to hear more of the uncharted theme music because it's the best. But overall it was great fun, and I'd watch it again. Sort of reminds me of how I view Pirates of the Caribbean. It's super fun to watch, but it can be a bit wonky at times.… Expand

І якщо ви теж шукали безглуздого двогодинного екшену задля самозаспокоєння, то цей фільм - безумовно чудовий варіант, бо окрім своєї ключової функції в ньому є ще декілька приємних речей, а саме: гарна акторська гра, велика кількість відсилань, великодок (от як наліпка логотип Naughty Dog у валізі Дрейка), гарний екшен і чудові краєвиди, які виглядають ще гарніше на великому і якісному телевізорі, час від часу непогані жарти, хімія між персонажами та навіть моральне зростання головного героя. До цього всього й українське дублювання зроблено майже бездоганно, особливо деякі жартівливі адаптації. Дуже хочеться вірити, що фільм отримає сиквел. While I never really played the games at all, I still found myself looking forward to this one, as it appeared to be a pretty fun adventure flick worth passing the time for, and sure enough, it delivers on the entertainment factor just fine, even if it gets a little ridiculous and over-the-top with the action at times. Furthermore, Holland and Wahlberg make for a great and oftentimes witty and amusing duo. Their chemistry and teamwork was easily my favorite part of the film. The action is quite entertaining throughout as well, and storywise, it gets the job done well enough despite being a little cliche and 'been there, done that', as well as having a frustrating cliffhanger of a mid-credits scene. But overall, it's a fun and passable enough action flick, even if you're not too familiar with the games or have never even played them.… Expand

Daft, harmless fun. I'm not sure if it would be better if I hadn't played the third 3 games, or if it'd be worse.
There's nothing remotely original about Uncharted but its fun none the less

It's not as bad as people say, it's a decent Indiana Jones type of flick, it doesn't really stick to the Uncharted games universe, but it's ok as an average action adventure movie.

I'm going to be honest, I didn't know what to expect from this, from the trailers it looked like your typical action-adventure but you never know from video games adaptions given their not-so-good track record but I'm glad to say I enjoyedI'm going to be honest, I didn't know what to expect from this, from the trailers it looked like your typical action-adventure but you never know from video games adaptions given their not-so-good track record but I'm glad to say I enjoyed this for the most part.

The performance from Tom Holland as Nathan Drake was good, really it was never gonna be a spot on reflection from the games but as the feel is concerned Tom Holland put in a good performance that makes you feel he is playing Nathan Drake in this case a younger Nathan Drake from the games, and that's all I wanted cause I was concerned he was gonna simply act as himself or a typecast of Peter Parker (not saying he does this is all his movies as he has proven to be a very good actor, especially from his acting roles from No Way Home, Cherry or Devil All The Time) but that wasn't the case as he goes do a decent job of portraying Nathan's charm, humor, confidence and off-brand witt from the games.

However, although I did enjoy seeing Mark Wahlberg as Sully onscreen I felt like his portrayal of Sully was a mixed bag goes he goes in and out of the role. For example, when he is first introduced in the movie he does do a decent job in playing Sully(a young version of him I keep forgetting lol) and genuinely puts in effort but in some parts of the movie it seems like he just acts as himself(the loud talking, quick witted and often erratic roles Mark Wahlberg is known for) and that might rub some fans the wrong way, I wouldn't say he was miscast but it was jarring to see but his saving grace was the chemistry with him and Tom Holland as Sully and Nathan was charming and very good and captured their banter and mirrored their relationship in the games quite a bit. Antonio Banderas although it is a joy to see him on screen he plays your generic bad guy who has Daddy issues and kills without a thought and that was disappointing so see, also Tati Gabrielle who played another villain showed some signs of being a badass was just another generic bad guy weak motivations. Also, Sophia Ali as Chloe was decent and she worked well with Tom and Mark.

The Story is nothing special as it's your typical adventure/treasure hunt but the games were really never known for their storytelling but its unique characters, set pieces and epic action-adventure and although the movie isn't perfect in hitting all those notes it does do a good job of capturing the set pieces and adventure aspect of the games to a decent amount and you can see Sony did their homework and put some care into this project and it's quite entertaining to watch on screen. Although predictable at times, especially some of the twists and turns that the movie tries but you could see from a mile away it had heart to the story as you follow Nate's journey and his motivation to find treasure and his lost brother. Even though it does hit some of the same notes from adventure movies you've seen before I was entertained still cause of the characters mostly Nathan and Sully, the humor was actually pretty well balanced and not forced and funny for the most part. The visual effects and CGI were spot on I mean Sony rarely disappoints on the visual effects on its high-budget movies. The pacing, for the most part, was decent was well balanced but at times it felt kinda slow but it wasn't a major problem and the action was decent and there were some memorable stunts too especially from Tom Holland's action set-pieces as Nathan Drake, especially in the third act was enjoyable and high energy and some pretty decent nods and references to the games too.

So as I stated Uncharted at the end of the day is not the Perfect video game adaption that will blow everyone's mind but considering the low amount of good video game movies I'm glad this is a decent movie that I rather enjoyed from the performances from Tom Holland and his chemistry with Mark Wahlberg as Nathan and Sully, the humor and mostly entertaining action and set pieces. Although generic at times this is a success for Sony and a step in the right direction for the future of Video Game Movie adaptions.… Expand

Well, Tom Holland is great. Mark Wahlberg is abysmal. Nothing of the fatherfigure that Sully is supposed to be for Nate. Bad jokes and some unbelievably bad acting on Wahlbergs part.

Never played the games so I am a newbie to the franchise. But I am familiar with the game by way of trailers. I still believe Holland wasn't the greatest choice for the role of Nathan Drake.
