The first movie had to be taken with a grain of salt, but the sequel has gone into Fast and Furious levels of ridiculousness. It is funny some of the time, but it feels disjointed from the seriousness of the first movie.

Kincaid and Bryce are existing besides each other. Despite their chemistry and rivalry in the first movie, Samuel L. Jackson seems to phone it in for this movie. Salma Hayek takes centre stage, and Bryce is the target of ridicule. The AAA bodyguard status, which i thought was a joke and not real in the first movie, is pulled out of proportion. The movie turns into a parody on the first movie. It is funny at times, though it is hard to be immersed like with the first movie. I give it a 6/10.

As bad as the first, but this time with some bizarrely surrealist humour. Overall nothing much different, except Selma Hayek has a larger role. A bit "Wuahn Wuahn".

Sadly the great cast and high production quality cannot improve upon this poorly titled excuse for an action comedy. Cheap gags, gratuitous meaningless violence and a series of endless irreverent quips are normally things I like, but here it just felt below par. Watching this reminds me of how few films display intellectually engaging storytelling these days.... Boo no lets just shoot em in da bawls insted hur hur! Expand

It is what it is, if you expect anything above average you're watching the wrong movie.

It was cool to see Hayek and Banderas on screen again, and the flash back scenes were a cool nod to Desperado.
Hayek was comical, for multiple reasons, for the majority of the movie her. . . assets were falling all over the place, she loved it and was clearly, thoroughly on board with it.
If you got it, flaunt it.
On a whole, the movie is a middle of the road action comedy that no one really wanted.

The action scenes are quick cuts and nothing special.

The biggest take away I got from this is how bad I felt for Ryan Reynolds character Michael Bryce. Never have I seen a character in a comedy go through so much trauma, pain, neglect, and humiliation. There came a point in the movie where the character is covered in someone else's blood, but he just leaves it on him for a while, not really reacting to it because I guess he’s already lost his insanity.

On the bright side of things, there were three jokes that I thought were funny. 1.) There’s a jump scare where Salema Hayek sneaks up and appears behind Ryan Reynolds. 2.) How Morgan Freeman is introduced in the movie was unexpected, genuinely funny, and easily the best joke of the movie. 3.) Michael Bryce tragic backstory to how his mother died was so stupid and ridiculous, which made it even more of a tragedy. Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson once again have decent chemistry despite the two playing the same characters from other movies. Salema Hayek, who is in her late 50’s, still looks good despite the movie portraying her as a screaming old hag. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to find Frank Grillo’s character funny, because I didn’t laugh at his jokes. Antonio Banderas is always charming in everything he does, even if he is playing a basic evil villain. Overall rating: A loud “shoot ‘em up” movie that doesn’t do anything else than pass the time and be entertaining...for some.

It was ok, it had some funny moments, the action was a bit overloaded and too simplistic even though there were tons of it. If you liked first part you will like this too, but nothing special

If anything, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is even more obnoxious and lazy, with a screenplay that imposes a thankless “Mexican hellcat” cliche of a role on Salma Hayek, and which eschews jokes in favour of lots of shouty swearing.

The dismal dialogue wouldn’t matter quite so much if at least the action sequences delivered a few thrills, but the whole thing is so shoddily put together it looks as though it was edited with a strimmer. Ryan Reynolds does himself very few favours in a role that trades on his least likable characteristics (the smirk and the fake tan).

Hitman's Wife Bodyguard is basically a repacked version of the first, though the humour and action landed a little bit more. Even with the almost constant action, it's a bore to sit through and I won't remember any of it by tomorrow.
