Yeah, I think the Russo brothers once again blow smoke up our **** trying to deliver another non-superhero blockbuster. The Gray Man is formula film on steroids, complete with unrealistic action without the need of computer-generated everything, dialogue that is no where near real world interactive speech and Chris Evans who looks like Hitler during his barbershop quartet days. I can count on my watch the minutes left before Disney sends over the acquisition papers to Netflix. You will watch The Gray Man when you have watched all others available and you're tired of watching reruns. Expand

Well-known actors. A $200 million budget. Directed by the two men behind the biggest superhero movie in history, and yet The Gray Man is a lifeless experience without a shred of excitement, suspense, or tension.
Even the action is pretty simplistic. There's not a single great sequence in it. And with that budget, that's actually quite disappointing.

I raised my expectations because of the people involved in its creation, but being a Netflix exclusive I had quite a few reservations and my instinct did not deceive me.
It's a shame, but this offering is just one more in a long line of disappointments. We make them successful at the time because we watch them in their platform, but no one will remember them in a few months. And I'm sure as hell no one will be talking anymore about The Gray Man in a couple of weeks.

Some decent action sequences, but a poor blend of tones and PG-13 violence hold it back from the levels of Bourne or Mission: Impossible.

An overwhelming hodgepodge of action and visual effects of which I only highlight the charisma of the main 3 protagonists. The script is so bad, full of holes and underused characters (Ana de Armas). Chris Evans is clearly the stand out.

It starts off with some promise and it's good to see Ryan Gosling and Ana De Armas together back on the big screen (since Bladerunner 2049) but the Gray Man is just another film that will end up in Netflix's growing forgotten pile of trash.

Derivative action film with a dumb story. Acting is not that bad, except for Ryan Gosling, who looks like he's channeling his bad 'Only God Forgives' character again. $200 million dollars not well spent.

Full: I'm rooting for Netflix, own stock in it, like the directors and actors involved. Okay, here's where it fell short - recycled plot, muted / hard to see action sequences, Ryan just didn't fit the role, Anna was like a cardboard prop (nothing added), everyone felt like they were coasting through the movie. The only one who was somewhat fun to watch was Chris Evans (he's just too typecast as Captain A in action sequences - so hard to believe he's the villian. I stopped watching 4/5 of the way through - I just couldn't see it getting any better. Expand

It is soulless, unoriginal, and overly dependent on poor CGI effects. It's amusing that all CGI effects from high-budget Netflix shows in 2022 are TERRIBLE. No freaking CGI effects, a human story, and honesty were what Bourne thrived on. Since I can't locate the worth of $200,000,000 anywhere in this, I sincerely hope that the entire cast received a SIGNIFICANT PAYCHECK. Expand

Still worth a watch. Chris Evans is a standout as one of the most unlikeable characters I have seen. Considering it's Captain America, that's no easy feat. There is some good in this movie and it can be exciting at times.Just don't get your hopes up. It you're hoping for a new John Wick/Jason Bourne, maybe look elsewhere.

The action comes thick and fast with a decent production budget. Sadly the pacing and screenplay are a little off and in combination with the quick fight cuts and constant camera movement, things quickly dull as tense fight scenes are traded in for a higher body count. After around 150 people die and the credits roll I was left wondering what a more restrained approach with a tighter script could feel like. Expand

It seems that Keanu Reeves was one of the responsible in havin' seen in Ana de Armas the potential to launch her in Hollywood as a new sex symbol. She, born in Havana and therefore Spanish speaking, did not know a word of English but, after the necessary learning courses, in 2015 she shot her first two films exactly with Keanu. She continued to play this her only role until the gigantic naked hologram in Villeneuve's "Blade Runner 2049" (2017). Then the sudden and unexpected turn alongside Craig in "No Time To Die" (Fukunaga 2021): a small part yet the most successful action sequence of the film. Now here she is co-starring with Gosling who forces the directors to the uninterrupted use of the Kuleshov effect: had Reeves been free and available, we would have had a "John Wick 4". The complete lack of ideas and images not already used millions of times forces the Russo brothers to hide such deficit with a dizzling pace, and it is the best thing about a blockbuster that flows away very fluidly so as to achieve its primary goal: an unconditional intellectual disengagement.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a horrendous piece of trash movie this was. What was the point of it? It was a nonsensical mess of a plot, with characters acting on whims and impulses that made no sense whatsoever.

The movie started with Ryan Gosling, a criminal assassin who worked for the CIA for 18 years, suddenly going rogue for no apparent reason. He deviated from his mission, killed his target, and took a flash drive that contained some mysterious secrets. Why did he do that? At no point in the film was his reasoning for doing that mentioned.

Then we have Ana De Armas, a CIA analyst who somehow got involved in this mess. She was interrogated by her superiors about the mission, and then she decided that she was compromised and had to escape. How did she manage to get out of a secure CIA facility? How did she track down Gosling's character? How does she keep popping up in different locations around the world to help him out whenever the plot needs her to be? Again, the movie never bothered to explain.

This movie made me so furious. It was BAD. It insulted my intelligence and wasted my precious time. It was full of clichés, plot holes, and illogical actions. It had no depth, no meaning, no purpose. It was a pathetic attempt at making an action thriller that failed miserably. Do yourself a favour and avoid this movie at all costs.
