If it weren't for Emily Blunt's steller performance Tate Taylor's superficial adaptation wouldn't make it out of the station. Even so, it chugs along at a painfully slow pace.

The Girl on the Train represents a dull thriller that isn't surprising in any sort of way. One way to the other, it removes the book's main core of the heart and keeps whatever causes the movie to have a bit of originality.

kinda reminds me of 'Before I go to sleep' or 'Side effect', the problem is, it hasn't outperformed any of those

Even with Emily Blunt's incredible performance and an interesting story, The Girl On the Train can't be saved from it's poor direction, lousy writing, and strange translation from the book to the screen.
