At first I didn't even knew what this movie was about, but it had some similar scenes and I remembered that these scenes is so similar with scenes of movie Room which I watched before. So then I knew what it was about it kinda disappointing me but I still managed to watch it till the end. But at the end I felt nothing, nothing special. Expand

Most of the scenes that were funny were the recreations and I found the "moving" emotional scenes to be sorta cute, but overly schmaltzy. I found The Disaster Artist to be kinda bland and more or less boring. It's extremely overhyped. I'd say that you'll probably enjoy it more if you haven't seen the original, but as far as a recommendation goes, go watch The Room instead. Expand

It's kind of sad when the whole point of a movie is to show how well James Franco can impersonate someone and shove it in everybody's face....

Reasonably entertaining film, James Franco is good as a complete fruitcake.

It was ok, I don't see it being that crazily good or something, plus most of it is them just reenacting scenes from The Room, but it was ok.

Yes, the side by side comparison scenes from The Room were well done and fun to watch, but still felt like it was lacking in style and substance (and originality). The whole copy and paste just wasn't doing it for me. I might as well should just be watching The Room instead. At times it felt the film was relying too much on the funny moments from The Room that everyone was familiar with to really get a reaction out of the audience. They didn't have their own humor. If I wasn't already familiar with the source material I probably wouldn't have spent the time watching this movie. I would recommend this movie if you're already familiar with The Room, but if not, just watch The Room. What do I know, this is just my opinion. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I should start out by saying that I didn't know the story its based on, so it was all new to me. Its a strange, quirky film about the filming of a strange, quirky film and featuring a, you guessed it, somewhat strange, quirky main character. I'm not sure what to make of it, other than it being a strange tale of eccentricity, there obviously being a somewhat cheesy theme, or undercurrent, of chasing after your dream, having self belief enough to convince yourself you'll achieve what you want. Yadda yadda. Its not an awful film (that'd be too ironic somehow), its a cringe-y film about a cringe-y story ultimately, I suppose and I feel I wasn't the ideal viewer for it as I really had no idea about the story it was portraying but it was interesting never the less. I wouldn't expressly recommend this film as such to others though, no. Expand
