This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first 45 minutes of the movie felt rushed and Forced, felt like they were building the first half of the movie around Leia only to conclude her character later in the movie as a distraction for Rey to mortally wound Kylo but then force heal him to health and then run away from him? You can see how absolutely crazy and hectic this writing is within the first hour and honestly could barely stand watching it to the end. The prequels are better than this **** in my opinion. Only good thing in this film was the visual FX and the acting. Poor Finn's only job was to yell Rey's name Expand

It's definitely better than the previous episode...cant imagine anything worse than the 8th episode though.
Have no idea why Disney needed to revive Palpatine. I see this as a sign of lack in new ideas. I can see clearly that even at the very begining of this triology Disney had absolutely no vision of where their story is actually going. So that's also clear that all this triology'd been made only to get more money from fans and never for SW universe development.
The story itself in 9th ep is plain, not interesting at all and has really big contentious issues. The characters are plain, Rei is OP and you have absolutely no compassion for her. All the dialogs are really either dry or strange. All the humor parts have jokes of really, REALLY bad quality (I wanted to kill myself at leats every time C3PO'd opened its mouth). The decisions characters made were stupid. All I could do in the cinema was laugh and discuss all these stupid moments with my brother. I think if I was on my own in the cinema, I'd stand up in the middle of the movie and walk away.
The only reason I give 1 to this episode is that it's much better that the previous one and it's FINALY the end of the triology made only to grab loads of money from fans.
You can do good movies. Just look at the "Rogue One". I can see this movie was made with huge love for SW universe. Look at "Mandalorian" series. These two examples can give you some idea, WHAT EXACTLY all the fans wanted to see. Even the first 10 mins of 1st Mandalorian episode is better that all the new triology.
I deeply love SW universe. And all I can see looking at this new triology is only disrespect for your viewers. It's really weak triology even comparing with the weakest Marvell movies. So don't you think that all the negative feedback is only because of some crazy fans of SW. Think carefully if you want continue to make another SW stories. Think of the STORY first. That should do it.
My only hope is that you Disney will not make a mess like that with the entire Old Republic and especially with Revan.
Don't be afraid to leave negative feedback and describe what you feel. Disney needs to know that they did the whole thing wrong, so next time we may be able to have really good story with interesting characters that will make you hold your breath. At least, I hope so.

Star Wars has always had way too much stuff crammed into the final movie because the build up in the first two movies never fully completes the vision of the whole trilogy enough to make a properly placed movie. I'm sure this movie would have been LOTR length to have gotten it the way it should have been. I definitely think there was a lot of extended lore packed in, especially with the final battle, that really were put in there to pull from extended sources and lore. Those should have been explored in the previous films more. There are little details about the movie, like the books from the Jedi Temple that Rey saved and learned from, that really made it a bit more cohesive, but they should have decided to make the themes of this film more compressed rather than broad and expansive, leaving the movie feeling rushed and hollow. I don't think this really gave the Sequels justice, but as someone who really binged a lot of Star Wars material because of the Sequels, I think it really is something that is both bolstered and hindered by the saga and universe it resides in. I would say you should not watch this film without seeing at least half of the Clone Wars TV show (really you should watch all of it, it's the best thing done after the disaster that were the Prequels), as that was the only way this movie really made sense at some points. Not my favorite movie by a longshot, but definitely fun for someone who doesn't spend all day dredging through the internet wastes of Star Wars debates. Expand

The Force Awakens was fantastic for me and The Last Jedi was interesting if a bit broken...broken because that last movie took such radical twist and turns that now, more than ever, it is painfully obvious that it left the screenwriters scratching their heads as of to what to do next and the result is this: The Rise of Skywalker, probably the messiest of the Star Wars movies. It pains me to say it because Star Wars is such a special series in the movie industry and I love it, but their is no saving this one for some of the faults it commits. The return of the Emperor is a direct response to the death of Snoke in the last movie and unfortunately their isn't enough justification, enough compelling reasoning for his return, he is just the new bad guy. The characters, all of which had interesting arcs constructed for them in the previous movies have little development because the plot moves extremely fast towards trying to build a way to get to its final fight- but forgets to leave space for the characters to grow or finish their arcs and the questions satisfyingly - we do find answers here, some of which we have been urging to find out about in the last 5 years, but because of this problem all of them lack punch. Furthermore, all logic is thrown out the window- Star Wars is a fantasy but it has always been grounded within its own fantasy, but the conveniences and over the top action and power upgrades presented here within the Force driven characters and even the human characters makes the whole thing feel unbearably cheap and hard to follow. This movie is not only a disappointment but it also cheapens the whole trilogy because it makes a disservice to everything constructed up to that point. Not all is bad...this is Star Wars after all, and their is some fun to be had, John Williams score is fantastic as always and the visuals are beautiful to look at- I wouldn't judge anyone if they find it pleasantly entertaining- but for people following the series passionately, this is a low blow. Then they write themselves out of that corner with it. I think it is a hard 6. My score will not go any higher and will probably drop with time. The visuals and cinematography are where the money has been spent and of course it looks great. Sadly the story requires you to switch off your brain and not question what is happening to accept it. South Park predicted this would be the result years ago and they were right. TLDR you do not want JJ to make a movie without a strong set in stone writing team that has already worked out what they are doing. Sadly they did not and there are endless mistakes in this movie that you are forced to overlook through all the quick cuts. An overwhelming neurological psychotic mess. If you don't blink and switch off it's probably fine. I would not recommend it. Ruined by Episode 8 and the lore problems that created. This doubled down on trashing the story. Adam Driver was probably the best part of the whole trilogy and he acted well despite the garbage he was given. Expand

First. If you want to go to a movie and shut your brain off, this is fine for that. Individual set pieces are gorgeous and are well shot; part of the Abrams crux. He's all style and no substance.

The second you think for a moment on anything in the film, the parts do not support the whole. The writing is terrible with awful plot holes, retconning bot the original trilogy and the mess Rian Johnson made in the Last Jedi, negating the CRUCIAL Anakin redemption cycle in the original. This made the writing of the Prequals seem like Shakespeare. First, Rian wrote the whole story into a corner with no where to go, with any and all question from Awakens being destroyed, which is then retconned in this film and makes flimsy answers to questions posed in Awakens. New characters introduced were utterly pointless and barely have screen time...why would they? Its the last film in this trilogy, there isn't even a point to developing them or introducing them.

The force, dear God almighty. They **** that up. Rey is space Jesus; she heals, she force skypes with Kylo, she pulls ships from the sky, she deflects lighting...she can't be beat. No character development, no earning of power, no rise or fall or climax or point of crisis for the character that would ground her as an identifiable or relatable person. The pacing of the film, which was all over the place to cram as much exposition as possible and I understood to a degree with JJ trying to right the ship, was almost forgivable...but the film lost me completely when through the Kylo-Rey force skype, Kylo ripped a bead necklace off of Rey (Which she got at the Alien Burning Man festival in the film...no joke) THOUGH THEY WERE LIGHT YEARS APART and was able to track her down with this necklace. My suspension of disbelief only goes so far.

Palpatine, lets address this **** It isn't even a spoiler, they tell you he is back in the opening Star Wars crawl!!!! THis was a damn Hail-Mary...with no where to go story wise, JJ said **** it" and brought the Emperor back...no explanation how he lived, he has pickled Snokes in jars (clones), an a fleet of star destroyers buried in the planet surface that just rise up.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After seeing the final installment to the new trilogy, "the Rise of Skywalker" I can say without a doubt Disney, the writers, the producers, nobody involved with this project had a clue about making a Star Wars movie. Sure, the used the name, some lore, but in the end this is not Stars Wars.

Rise of Skywalker takes everything we knew about previous stories, lore, canon, and either throws it out or just makes a complete mockery of it. It makes the sacrifices Anakin, Luke, Liea, Han, Chewbacca and everyone else made mean absilutely nothing - because JJ Abrams thought it would be a good ideal to bring Palpatine back from the dead. The movie is a convoluted mess of bad writng, pacing, and laced with plot holes(dozens - literally dozens), and lets not forget all the stupid mcguffins that are so contrived and conveniently resolved within seconds. Yes...just stupid assinine writing that should insult you as a viewer. If I were you, do not wate your money. Save it. Wait until it is released and see it on TV or wait for a friend to buy it on disc.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This film does to The Last Jedi that The Last Jedi did to The Force Awakens. Tosses the story points from prior films like an unwanted lightsaber. To make matters worse, it unravels internal consistency. The actors do their best with what they are given. Adam Driver noticeably stands out as particularly good. However it isn't enough to keep me from feeling like the overlords were rushed and didn't pay attention. The final film should have been given time and been a labor of love, instead it feels like canned meat pulled from the microwave early and sprinkled with just enough talent to allow you to choke it down. Rey is revealed to be Emperor Palpatine’s granddaughter which I thought was forced (no pun intended) and not very believable. Oh yeah, Palpatine’s back because he had himself cloned or some s**t. Kylo Ren is back and troubled as always and has some sort of forced romance with Rey which is also not very convincing. The black guy and Han Solo rip off are up to their usual hijinks and don’t really do anything notable. The visuals are the movie’s strong suit. Expand

But this movie... this ain't it, Chief. It spends so much time trying to retcon all the plot issues TLJ created that it had absolutely no idea what to do with itself other than try to haphazardly rehash what has previously worked. Palpatine is still a corny ass old fart, Rose get COMPLETELY forgotten (I mean, she probably shouldn't have existed in the first place, but its too late now so you need to do SOMETHING with her.) Finn does absolutely nothing and his character is shafted by the inclusion of a bunch of other ex-storm troopers, which takes away anything special about him. Poe sits there and does nothing significant for the 3rd movie in a row. The plot is strung together by the smallest of threads that come out of nowhere and leave without any explanation (except for the awkward re-writing that Disney has been trying to do post release with their online explanations) The lightspeed skipping directly gives the middle finger to Holdo's maneuver and the whole death star thing makes ZERO sense because I literally saw it obliterated in Episode 6. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I know I am in a minority when I say I really enjoyed The Last Jedi, but when I watched this, I felt cheated as aside from a few very major plot points that could not have been ignored, it was mostly whitewashed over. This movie felt like it was trying too hard to accomplish 2 movies worth of story and action into a single one which truly destroyed the pacing of it and made my enjoyment so bad. From the opening text crawl which straightaway introduced the concept that Emporer Palpatine was back ruined it as there was little to no connect between this and The Last Jedi to get that he had returned. And the fact that the trailers had ruined that big return made it just bad. The first half of the film was flying between story points to try hard to rush so much in so quickly and there was just no time to really take it all in and my brain felt like it was being put through the spin cycle on a washing machine. Once it settled down and we got to the big battle towards the end, it did find its pace and place and felt much better, even if there was too much plariarism from Return of the Jedi and Avengers End Game.

In my opinion an easy fix that would have made the movie so much better and much more shocking would be the following.

1 - Don't ruin Palpatines return in the trailers
2 - In the opening crawl, don't mention Palpatine but just a deadly message from a believed dead enemy has both the Resistance and First Order scrambling
3 - Once Kylo Ren has the Sith Wayfinder and hits Exogal, have him come face to face with Palpatine, but we don't see or hear him and Ren just goes, "But you are supposed to be dead"
4 - Have no reveal of Rey being a Palpatine, just hints with "your not who you are due to blood, but due to actiosn" etc
5 - Rey arrives at Exogal to face whoever the big bad is and we find out it is Palpatine (big reveal great and shocking). Here Palpatine explains about Reys parents and that she is his Grand-daughter.
6 - Much like the film with Kylo and Rey combining etc to defeat Plapatine. 7 - No bloody kiss!!!!!
8 - Kylo lives and Rey dies(another big shock no one would see coming)
9 - Kylo returns to being Ben and goes to Tatooine to bury the Lightsabers and takes the name Skywalker as is his family name. Now I know I have been very critical of this film, but it is the Storyline that has the biggest issues to me. Too many plotholes and paced so badly. And I would say maybe a little too much fan service.

But on the plus side, I felt the acting in this was probably the best of the sequels and the actual directing of the film was good. Plus as you would expect from Disney, the visual effects were brilliant. Some little cameos were nice, like Wedge and Nien Numb.

Overall I have to say that this was a terrible way to close a 42 years 9 film franchise.
If JJ Abrams had been given all 3 films or if 3 different directors had the films, it might have been much better from a storyline basis. As it is, it feels like JJ Abrams tried to connect his 2 films together while disregarding the one he didn't do.

I can imagine what a huge responsibility it was for the director and the whole team to put an end to such a long story. What can be said about this point. It is clearly better done than a point in one high-profile fantasy series (we will not say the name). J. J. Abrams put a good end to this story, giving credit to each character. Technically the film looks great (space flights and battle scenes). But in the very plot of the whole film, as if something was missing on a larger scale, and if it were not for the finale, then perhaps the 9th part was perceived in the same way as the previous 2 episodes. What else the film was very hooked on is the nostalgic moments of which there were enough in the film and they took for the soul, for this I will immediately give +1 point to the piggy bank. Sleep tight Skywalker Saga. Expand

As a loud and flashy sequence of events on a screen, it is entertaining. As the 9th installment of a saga that is culturally defining for at least two generations, it is almost utterly without redemption.

In Episode 3, Padme was distressed that democracy died with thunderous applause. Star Wars died with two directors having a slap fight.

I loved the visualsI finally got around to seeing this and reading the reviews prior to going to the theater I thought I was in for something absolutely horrible and to be honest, I didn't think it was as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I loved the visuals like the Star Destroyers lined up perfectly in a grid like pattern w/ lightning crashing down around them was so damn awesome I nerdgasmed out on it, sound effects were great as always in the SW series, seeing different characters, and I really enjoyed having C-3PO as more of a main character w/ more and actual lines, some of which were pretty funny I thought. BUT, there are definitely some things that are not good about this movie. I found the writing to be subpar, especially certain one liners and I couldn't help to think that even I could write better dialogue. There were two or so moments that never panned out to anything. There some pretty ridiculous force moments, nothing I can go into w/out spoiling, but way too over the top that just cheapens the movie. The worst part of the movie though was the super predictable story, again, can't go into detail but, super predictable. Finally w/ all that said, I enjoyed the movie overall. I've seen plenty of truly 1 star movies and this definitely was not one. At the same time it's not anywhere close to the quality of SW we know. Overall, I'd say it's ok, pretty good, and an enjoyable enough movie I'd recommend at least renting it. Expand

Objectively speaking, as a movie, it's actually fine. Not terrible, not great, just fine. The technical aspects are great once again: The VFX, the sound design, the production design, John William's final Star Wars score, all that it's great. The performances are fine...I mean, with a dull script the actors didn't have much to work with. The script is full of cheesy lines and I know that Star Wars has always had its fair share of cheesy or corny lines but some of the dialogue here comes close to cringeworthy. It also has a lot of plot conviniences. The "force" is now portrayed as a "Mary Sue" because it could do anything, apparently. Some twists were dumb and even unnecessary. Many characters besides Rey and Kylo Ren have literally nothing to do the whole movie. New characters like the Richard E. Grant character don't even have any character, they are just there. Lando barely does anything in the movie. His inclusion felt more like cheap fanservice instead of having a real purpose and returning characters like Palpatine are now boring! Speaking about fanservice...Oh my God...This should've been called "Fan service: The Movie". Like I said, the twists were dumb and felt straight out of a bad fanfic and also, like I said, the returning characters are boring! This whole movie is a demonstration of Disney trying not to piss off anybody. They played it sooooooo safe. They no longer want to try anything new, they are just trying to please the most fans as possible, and, judging by the User Score, they failed, because there are still fans ranting about this movie.

This trilogy is a mess, because it's not consistent. I mean, the prequels, as much as I hate them and dislike them AS MOVIES, they are consistent...Consistently bad. This trilogy...Oh my God: We got the first one in which fans were angry because it was a ripoff of A New Hope, they wanted something new. Disney tries to make something new with The Last Jedi and everyone hated it because "They ruined Star Wars". So now they made this one because no one liked the new direction and fans now hate it because "it's too late".

Like I said, as much as I don't like the prequels and still think they are inferior to any other movie in the franchise, at least they can get so bad they are entertaining...But this...This is bad too...But its bad elements are not entertaining at all...

Abrams attempts to use The Rise of Skywalker as both a conclusion to the Skywalker Saga and as an apology for The Last Jedi. In doing so, Abrams forces the film to rush through much of its runtime and story, simply due to the bloat. If you are on board for the story and in-universe changes then the last third of the film still has something to offer. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you are a casual fan then you can probably find aspects of the film to enjoy. Other than that it’s a very miss film in my opinion. The characters do not get the proper send off that they deserve and it feels like a movie just as an effort to sell more merchandise. It was extremely predictable with the major “twists” or plot points being seen from a mile away whether it was Landos return, Rey being a palpatine, Finn being force sensitive or any of the other shocks it tried to create. There were no good light saber battles and every single Princess Leia scene was extremely forced and uncomfortable to watch. She was speaking super vaguely and you could tell they were just trying to incorporate her into the movie for the nostalgia factor. They also CGId her which they said they were not going to do. They did redeem certain characters like Kylo however then they completely ruin the momentum of the character by killing him off in a very stupid way. They also underutilized many characters. Overall it was disappointing it was not as terrible as the last Jedi but that does not make this movie a good film by any means. Expand

Now, I actually don’t have a lot of issues with this film. Only 3 issues really stand out to me, but they are 3 very major issues. The first is the pacing. Was The Last Jedi too slow for you? Well, this movie moves along so fast it gives you no time to breathe! For those who just want to go on a fun ride, this might be a good thing. For me though, slowing down and letting the characters just talk to each other is really important. This movie barely does that. There is always something going on or a plot twist being dropped. It went so fast, I didn’t even have time to comprehend a lot of it! This movie feels very rushed. It does slow down a little later on, but it’s still a major issue with a good chunk of the film. There are also WAY too many new characters introduced! You have a large enough cast as it is, just work with what you already have! My second issue is Palpatine. It’s no spoiler that Emperor Palpatine returns in this movie. His voice can be heard in every trailer and he’s on the teaser poster. You’re supposed to know this going in. Palpatine’s return is handled horribly. He’s supposed to be the main villain even though he’s been completely absent from the last two movies. It’s completely anti-climactic. None of the characters know who he is or have any real connection with him. We’re supposed to accept that he’s somehow still alive even though we saw him die! He fell down a pit and EXPLODED!!! They tell you he came back to life in the opening crawl and then go on to hand-wave it away with a prequel meme. That’s it. I’m not kidding. It’s embarrassing how poorly-written he is. They never explain where he’s been all this time, what he’s been up to, why he’s been doing it, how he’s been doing it, why he’s waited so long, or how he was resurrected. Did someone fish his body out of the Death Star? Is he some kind of clone, like in the old Dark Empire comics? Is he a ghost? I have no idea, and I bet the filmmakers don’t either. It’s insulting. The third issue I have with this film is the lack of continuity with the other movies, The Last Jedi especially. A lot of that movie is either ignored or undone by this movie. Rose is replaced with a giant slug monster and relegated to a background role, they bring in an Emperor figure when the last movie made a point to get rid of that and have Kylo Ren be the main villain, and let’s just say that Rey isn’t exactly a nobody. Could you imagine if Richard Marquand got rid of Lando and made Luke not actually Vader’s son in Return of the Jedi? It’s so frustrating. JJ Abrams sacrificed a flowing narrative for this trilogy for his own original vision. It’s selfish and it’s childish. Again, this may be a positive if you hated The Last Jedi. I really like The Last Jedi, so this really bothered me. It’s clear that there was no plan for this trilogy from the beginning and the filmmakers didn’t have enough communication with one another. It’s not only TLJ that this movie retcons. Bringing Palpatine back really diminishes Anakin’s sacrifice at the end of Return of the Jedi and kind of rewrites the entire Star Wars mythos. He was the chosen one, prophesied to destroy the Sith and bring balance to the Force. He did that by killing Palpatine in Return of the Jedi. Only he didn’t, Palpatine survived. I had the same issue with the old Expanded Universe. I thought the reason they got rid of the EU was so that they could improve on the post-Jedi storyline, not repeat the same mistakes it made, only somehow worse. Who’s the chosen one now? What’s the point of the prophecy? What did Anakin die for? I have no idea! This movie also contradicts some of the newer books and comics, but I'd have to get too nerdy and off-topic to properly explain that here. Now, from how much I’m trashing this movie, you might think that I hate it. I don’t. I still had fun watching it and there was quite a bit that I enjoyed. Rey and Kylo Ren are still great, the effects are excellent as always (The integration of the Carrie Fisher footage is pretty seamless.), the action is thrilling, there’s good comedy, the acting is good and there are many surprises that got me genuinely excited. I also liked how it didn’t retcon the Luke storyline from TLJ, they just made it more clear for those in the audience who didn’t fully understand the point of it in the last movie. This movie also explains why Hyperspace ramming isn’t a common tactic in warfare in the Star Wars universe, after it was shown to be so deadly in The Last Jedi. Overall, this movie is an absolute mess and a major disappointment, but it makes for a fun time out at the movies. Just don’t think too hard about how it connects with the other Star Wars movies and you’ll be fine. I can see why people like it, it’s just not for me. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Rise of Skywalker is an entertaining, action, popcorn movie that moves so fast in hopes that you don't pay attention too close. The Rise of Skywalker is two movies squeezed into one, and it suffers for it with scenes happening simply because the plot needs them to. The movie also goes out of it's way to retcon The Last Jedi due to the corner it wrote director J J Abrams into, minimizing the importance of Snoke, and having Luke do a 180° degree turn back to his original optimistic self.
The movie also fails to address the BIG elephant in the room, how Palpatine survived. The audience gets one throwaway line about it being "unnatural" and then the movie moves on, as if an old man surviving being at the center of a moon sized explosion makes any sense. The final fight of the film also has Rey be the one to put down Palpatine for good. In doing so it undoes the entire point of the original six films, which set Anakin Skywalker up as the Chosen One who would destroy the Sith after his son Luke turned him back to the light, in one fell swoop.
To top all of this off, Rey is revealed to be a Palpatine herself. After all the remaining Skywalkers have been killed off (including Ben Solo) Rey Palpatine looks into the sunset and says her name is Rey Skywalker, driving the final nail into the coffin holding what was the Skywalker legacy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's tragic. Nothing got me on the edge of my seat, a single scene inspired nothing else got me all that interested. I was a bit amazed in scenes but I expected that from such a massive company. The movie is to afraid to be more than fan service I think, with McGuffins for Mary Sues. The contrast between Kylo and Rey (light and dark) been the only part I kinda liked but been inherently flawed, kylo never had a advantage or posed a threat to Mary Sue. To me this made his change, predictable and disappointing. It's not worth been completely negative. The only fan service part I liked was luke raising his X wing, and the scene of Rey been down as all the previous jedi support her telling her to "rise". Personally thats all I liked. The major parts that didn't work for me. The constant poorly implemented "link" between Rey and Kylo, the constant forced FaceTime where some how there can still be damage to the surroundings. The scene of Rey seeing her evil side, doesn't carry any impact. It's completely skipped over and has no impact. Rey burying the lightsaber is a mix I get how some liked it, to me it didn't work at all and is frustrating. The absolute worst part is she immediately pulls out an amazing looking lightsaber of her own I imagine. Sporting a yellow blade, possible duel function and potentially an amazing scene of her creating it but no. Her taking the name of skywalker is underserved I think. There is more but thank you for reading this much. Expand

We’re rebels, right? Who says there can only be three? You can’t tell a story for forty two years and then ride out with half a story because some stupid rule from a long time ago says three. Expand

Enrredo errático e covarde, sem originalidade e pequeno para franquia. Porém tecnicamente bem feito.

To understand this movie as an end to a saga, you can pretty much just watch Episodes 1, 2, 3, 7, and 9, and it would all make as much sense as it needs to. Good job, JJ...you made the OT irrelevant. A note about the acting, as well...I feel as if the actors did what they were told very well, It's just that they were told to act as if the world just ended when they did the Star Wars equivalent of stub their toe. A movie that just undoes everything the previous 8 films did while advertising itself as some grand conclusion to the 9 part saga.

Terrible plot, editing and even mediocre score.

Abrams was trying to take this franchise, it unfortunately was bogged down with its poor writing and disrespect to the other films in it's trilogy. Adam Driver does a good job with what little he is given to do, and Daisy Ridley is trying her best with some very cookie cutter dialogue. A lot of elements were not flushed out to their full potential and overall, it didn't feel as fun as the other 2 films. I probably would've liked this movie a lot more if Rian Johnson had written and directed it, at least then, a lot of his ideas from Last Jedi could've been flushed out. Expand

Whilst still serviceable, 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' disappointed me - it makes for a relatively limp finish to the sequel trilogy.

The plot is the biggest letdown. It's all over the place, it might have a good amount of action but the actual point of the film is uninteresting and feels like something we've seen before. The cast still do well amongst all that, but I can't say I'll remember a performance from this.

With that said, Daisy Ridley is the best thing about it. Adam Driver is fine, but his character doesn't interest me much at this point. John Boyega and Oscar Isaac felt underused, while Kelly Marie Tran is discarded almost completely. Richard E. Grant is a slight upgrade on Domhnall Gleeson, but not by much.

A shorter run time may have helped this, instead it feels kinda bloated and without much reasoning to be so. I don't dislike it, it's still just about what I'd describe as good, but given it's part of 'Star Wars' it should've been far greater - in my opinion, at least.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (I apologize in advence for some mistakes I may make, english is not my first language, so sorry.) This movie is honestly a lot better then I thought it would be. While the first 2 movies made Rey's developtment a little weird and hard to notice, this movie makes it obvious that it's her journey and I love it for that. Rey in this movie is not perfect, she struggles, she is impuslive, careless at times (she almost killed chewie) and she thinks for the most part it's her blood that will turn her into the very thing she fears the most. Now, Kylo. When you first watch it you will wonder how Kylo will turn good since the movie's name is The Rise of Skywalker and Kylo is the last Skywalker. And it makes so much sense, in that scene where Han speaks to him it's not really Han but his guilt towards killing Han that changed him and proved him wrong on his logic "kill it if you have to" because killing will not make you go past it in fact it will haunt you, but it can be for the better.

The movie is not perfect though, for example what the hell was the thing with the knife ? Couldn't they have just found something else like a tracker to find the artifact or something like this ? But honestly that is just a few things that didn't ruin the movie as a whole. Now the most contreversial part of the movie: Palpatine. He is great. His inclusion made sense for explaining why Rey was so powerful, even if I'm not a fan of "you can pnly use the Force because of lineage" but it also gives an intersting moral of "blood doesn't define who you are" with Rey overcoming the biggest threat of the whole galaxy and embodiment of all the siths which she was supposed to become. Now something that seemed weird but makes sense, why does Palpatine have thousands of planet busting ships ? Well improving techonoly and also he has been hiding in the shadows for another 30 years ! He was definitly preparing something. Now on to the more superficial stuff like the music the visuals the fights etc. All are great, the music may not be totally original but it's inclusion in certain precise scenes makes those scenes much more impactful. The visuals are also great with great shots, colors, and places that I wish I could know more about. The fight scenes are very good, you can see Rey's impulsiveness which makes her weak against Kylo, those scenes are not here nor are they too perfect like in the prequels, those fights feel real. Overall great characters, great story, great moral at the end, of course it's no even close to the original trilogy but it's a very good movie that could've made the sequel trilogy bad in the end.

Stunning visually, great acting and a satisfying end to the trilogy. Yes there are some problems. It's not perfect, but no movie is.
