Spider-man: Homecoming may feel too different from its other predecessors (especially because of its "pint-sized" protagonist). But, at the end, it has enough thriller, fun, and color to live up again Marvel's classic character.

I find Aunt May okay but very attractive though. Michael Keaton did a wonderful job as the Vulture. Hands down the best MCU villain to date. The new Spiderman movie I like, my favorite movie in the summer and maybe my favorite movie of the year.
I have to admit that I'm not very familiar with director Jon Watts. But he came out of here and knocked out of the park. He was given a fun show from an actor. He perfectly tone the tone. From top to bottom, he did well. I was looking forward to what he did next and was glad he came back to spider again. And when the movie had six people credited for the screenplay, it smelled of chefs too in the kitchen. But at about the end result is a near perfect credit to Jonathan Goldstein, John Francis Daley, Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers They made magic together. While I highlighted the members of the staff, I also had to acknowledge composer Michael Giacchino during this. Rogue One, Doctor Strange, and War for the Planet of the Apes.
This film is also a favorite of teenagers and new generation incredible. But there are also inappropriate content for humor and not for Spider-Man fans. Writing is very strong in this film, they leave them out and unnoticed and still love the film. this That would be an impressive writing that is rarely seen in Hollywood.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is stronger, while the character is a comic character bigger than the action movie. While parts of the action are good - the Washington Monument, rescue ferry boats, and endangered aircraft are featured - no one can compete solely on Spidey's launch of the MCU in Civil War airport combat. Which is amusing in Peter's view, the lack of a truly memorable new sequence of action may make some superhero fans thirst for food. Each has eyes But eventually the spider.
Just like the story of Marvel's best. Web-Spider-Man: Homecoming is a fantastic combination of fun superhero adventure stories.

Michael Keaton is given very less screen time. We would have liked to see his reasons for being bad guy other than just money. I felt like this was a wasted opportunity. In other spiderman movies villains always had a good story and reasons for being villainous. Look at green goblin from first movie or sandman from spiderman 3.

It was frustrating to see spidey failing so hard at everything. Spoilers ahead. Iron man comes to save his ass 2-3 times in the movie. He has no capability to use his spider senses. He gets hit by everything coming his way. All in all what I am trying to say is this version of spiderman doesn't feel like a superhero or even a guy who is on a journey to become one.

Spoilers ahead. He is only able to capture vulture because of vulture's own flaws. He shows little remorse for his friend Liz because she lost her father. The movie seems to be made half-heartedly. I really wanted this movie to be good but I was disappointed. Watching this movie just made me realise how good those early movies by Sam Raimi and Tobey Mcguire were.

Homecoming is at least better than amazing spiderman though. That was one piece of holy crap.

So how's this new reboot? Well, let's just say that it's a "What if Spider-Man ('02) got weirdly married with Home Alone?" and there you have it:"Spider-Man Homecoming". Sounds interestingly cool, right? I mean, the well-done story and visual effects and,of course, the magnificent score by Michael Giacchino CAN make this movie work...But it has some flaws. First off i didn't find nothing boring in the 3rd act (like some critics are saying),but i had some issues with the story. This is a story about having your normal high school life while being your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man at the same time. A story that,of course, has subplots, that are mixed with the story in a decent way. Movies like 'The LEGO Batman Movie'did very well in mixing the subplots in such an understandable way,but in this one it's just fine, noting new or bad,not even something interesting. The rest was great. Tom Holland portrays both Spider-Man and Peter Parker in a great way,and RDJ's just there only for some exposition because of Avengers Infinity War (i guess...),and there's nothing to say about Michael Keaton as The Vulture,he was just plain fantastic. In the end,if you were annoyed by 'The Amazing Spider-Man',then maybe Spider-Man Homecoming will resolve your problems. It's a lighthearted comedy with great performances, stylish visual effects, magnificent music, some lovable action and the same old fun you'll have from a Spider-Man movie.

(SPOILERS) And the last end credits sequence? A better troll than Harambe and We Are Number One.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Tom plays an excellent Peter Parker. All in all the movie is fun.

The problem Is with the abilities and his suit. One of his core abilities Spidey sense is no where found in the movie His suit is just another ironman suit now. Which means the character doesn't need to do anything anymore and just ask "Karen" for everything. The good thing about previous spiderman movies was that they knew what spiderman's abilities are.

He is still young enough to be believable as a high school student, and he has a lot of heart and wit that makes him perfect for the role. It finally gets so many things right that the earlier Spider-Man films did not. It's by far the most fun, most colorful, and what I'd certainly consider the most accurate portrayal of a teenager trying to juggle high school and being an often times clumsy superhero (something that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield couldn't do as easily considering they were cast as Spider-Man in their mid 20s). Seriously though, to speak metaphorically, Tom Holland really stuck the landing quite nicely in his take on the titular hero. Overall, while I found certain plot elements a bit cliche, and it's not a huge game-changer in terms of the Spider-Man films, it's still a vast improvement and yet another colorful and just plain fun addition to the MCU. Rest assured, Spidey's long-awaited debut in the MCU does not disappoint! Expand

Primarily, it's Tom Holland, who brings a fresh-faced charm to the character. He's still in high school, while working to get accepted as a superhero by the Avengers. Since he's also adolescent, he's awkward and impetuous, which gets him in several scrapes. The action sequences seem more lighthearted and the villain (Michael Keaton) is less threatening. Still, Holland's awkward spunk and endearing appeal, combined with a lighthearted script and energetic approach make this iteration enjoyable. BTW, the plot picks up after the last Captain America movie (which featured a fun cameo from Spidey), so if you didn't see it, some of the references may be lost, but the movie still works. NOTE: As usual with Marvel flix, stay thru the credits for one last gag. Expand

Spider-Man: Homecoming is by no means anything spectacular, but it works as a solid and fun Marvel film and delivers arguably the best Spider-Man flick since Spider-Man 2. Tom Holland combines the best aspects of Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield to be the best overall incarnation of the superhero to date. The rest of the supporting cast rocks as well and Michael Keaton plays a solid Vulture. Additionally, the action sequences are creative and fun, while the comedy is some of the best from any Spider-Man film. However, the film's plot seems to be playing on repeat as the story transitions from event to event in a boring and repetitive way. Plus, the stakes appear strikingly low (like in most MCU movies) because next to nobody dies or faces the concept of death in the film and we know the character will appear in many future films. In the end, Spider-Man: Homecoming is a solid flick that finds some successes but falls under the MCU's typical problems. Expand

There's no bold changes to the character arcs or story, making it very predictable. Fight sequences weren't shot very well, and weren't very memorable either. The jokes were cringy and not funny. Uncle Ben being replaced by Tony Stark is questionable, most of the characters were dull and unmemorable, and the sidekick is just not very interesting or funny. There were also no mentions or scenes of spidey senses at all, which should be integral to a Spider-Man movie. But most of all, my biggest problem with this movie was Peter Parker's motivations. Rather than save people because of morality and responsibility reasons, almost everything he does is purely an attempt to impress Tony Stark. It feels very out of character for Spider-Man and doesn't make for a very well-written character. Although I will say, Tom Holland is probably the best and most accurate Spider-Man to date, and the Vulture is a pretty decent villain. Expand

Are we tired of superhero movies yet? The box office returns would say no, but the ever-increasingly lacklustre reviews of each subsequent Marvel or DC movie releases would suggest otherwise.

The problem is trying to capture the spirit of the comics, translating that onto the screen, whilst also creating an interesting storyline and investing characters.
Clearly it's not easy, but S:H comes closer to this 'perfect formula' than most. Not to say it's a fundamentally flawed movie, because it is, but it's a fun journey from beginning to end and Tom Holland as 'Spidey' is by far the best on screen version we've had.

The story eschews the whole 'origin' element, and follows on from Spidey's appearance in Civil War. We're back to the idea of a character balancing his life as the dull, studious, intelligent, geeky and awkward 'Peter Parker', and his ever-increasing desire to use his prodigious abilities to help others and fight crime.

The fundamental flaw mentioned earlier stems from the notion that this would actually be possible in the modern age, something that the film makes some subtle nods toward from time to time, but also something that you really can't gloss over.
Add to this the now completely overused superhero movie tropes (the main villain being directly related to a character Peter Parker is embroiled with, amongst others) and the narrative falls apart at the end.

But, if you walk into the movie with that level of expectation, you WILL be surprised. The film does come together extremely well, it doesn't feel like it's about half an hour too long (even if some scenes do drag on a fair while), and the big action set pieces are great spectacles.
Throw in some fine acting (Michael Keaton nails his role, and is more menacing when he's not 'The Vulture' than when he's CGI'd up), decent soundtrack, a nice little set of cameo appearances from other Marvel characters, and you get something which is better than I thought it would be.

However, the Superhero genre is now getting into severe overkill levels of releases, and because of that there is a sense of 'Christ, not another one'. For me, that notion of this (or any superhero) movie just being a small part of a larger 'extended universe' diminishes it somewhat.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some of the most fun I've had in a superhero movie. Can't believe Wonder Woman is given a higher score by the critics than Spider-Man: Homecoming. Then again, some critics believe that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire were more suitable for the role of Spiderman. Tom Holland provides some much needed innocence and comic relief to his role. His high school friends, with the exception of Ned and Liz (to an extent), were rather uninteresting, but that was OK. They are balanced by the more interesting character of Vulture, who clashes with the innocence of Spiderman. Somehow, this movie manages to resolve these two characters, as seen in the mid-credits scene. For the most part, Spiderman gets scolded by Iron Man when he deserves it, except in the final battle. Spiderman and Vulture are fighting on the surface of a plane, and during the battle, the plane crashes into some sort of circus thing. This incident looked like it could have injured/killed dozens of people, yet no one even mentions it afterwards. Other than that, solid superhero flick. DC could learn a thing or two from these movies. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Our take: See it in theaters. The extra $2 for a 3-D showing will not be a waste.
Post credit scene? Yes, two, so just wait until that last Sony logo appears to get up and leave.

You would hope that when they do a reboot every three years they’d learn something. And they did. Spider-Man: Homecoming is a fun, fresh, and fast-paced installation and the movie we’ve been waiting years for.
Forget the doom and gloom, forgot convoluted side plots, forget Oscorp and the Bugle, forget the awkward emo dance moves — this movie eliminated it all and tucked the canon neatly into the MCU instead. Somehow, it was even able to give the newly introduced villain, Vulture, a grounded backstory in the universe. Picking up after his backdoor-pilot mission in Civil War, Holland finally gives us a coming-of-age, high school Peter Parker story we need instead of just handing us an amazing Spider-Man.
With very little exposition necessary (sorry Uncle Ben, but we’ve seen you die, A LOT) the movie was allowed to explore the character and struggles that Peter Parker has in both high school and as a hero, in ways the other films failed to (Incredibly, movies about high schoolers are so much better when you cast younger actors instead of British men in their 30s that you have to get out of high ASAP because the aging process doesn’t stop.)
Added to the mix are a sidekick (Ned played by Jacob Batalon) that often steals the show a lot of sidekick comedy, a stupid high school crush (Liz played by Laura Harrier), and an MCU caliber villain creating an instant hit for all ages. Even with the occasional plot or character stumble, the film was able to deliver an amusing and entertaining look at the new Spider-Man franchise. But
The film leaves you with a familiar feeling, and yet, it also feels completely new — it’s an increasingly delightful dichotomy and direction for these films to be heading in.

Featuring: Birdman as another … birdman. An impressive attempt to include a POC entity in every single frame of the movie, reminding us just how diverse NYC is (fun fact, not as diverse as Houston, but whatever). Also lots and lots of Star Wars references in case you forgot Disney was involved in this movie, which Sony would probably be happy you did (you can tell by the number of times Sony will be splattered on the screen).

It's very, very family friendly and seems like a live action version of the recent Disney Spider-Man cartoons. Story-wise... it brings utterly nothing new to the table... It's the same as all the rest of the Spider-Movies, even down to the now, prerequisite grand rescue of civilians in trouble. And lastly... No spidey senses!!! Really!! Muhammad Ali without his snappy banter... A tiger without it's stripes... Silver without shine... A very scandalous move on the writers part. Though all in all.. being a Spider-Man fan... This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is the Spidey movie we've all been waiting for. It is very faithful to the source material, and delivers the dramatic and comedic punch that "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and "Spider-Man 3" lacked. The film fails in the villain departement, just as many MCU installments do, but at least is played by talented Michael Keaton. His character conveniently happens to be Peter's crush dad - a clichéd plot twist that caught me off guard. Tony Stark and his former bodyguard, Happy Hogan, play a small part in the movie, but they're enough to steal some scenes they're in. Tom Hollland's portrayal of Peter Parker/Spider-Man is possibly one of the best onscreen and Marisa Toomey's Aunt May is a nice deviation from the character in the comics, but is solid - for the little screen-time she has.

The action sequences don't fail either. Most of the movie's set pieces happens to be located in Queens, New York, a small urban area with no tall buildings that Spidey can use to swing around safely. A nice touch that the writers and producers addressed, considering how none of Spider-Man's webs attached to anything in previous outputs. The comedy is adequate for a coming-of-age film, and is on par with "Guardians of the Galaxy".

The film could benefit from a better villain and a less cliched motivation, but the movie offers a simplistic story around a kid who's trying to help people. It's funny, fast-paced, and a lot of fun, and it's my third favorite Spider-Man film to date.

Final Score: 7.5/10

Before Homecoming, my favorite movie was ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’ by Edgar Wright. They have kinda similar tones so yeah, I think it’s very clear I have some kind of preference.

Homecoming, by director Jon Watts, is fun. That's a big part of the movie; the humor. All the jokes land, nothing feels forced. Actually the whole movie feels very natural, even the fifteen-year-old with spider-like like powers feels natural. The friendships, the relationships, the feelings, the motivations, the consequences, either good or bad, they all feel natural. They feel real and legitimate. Tom Holland does a great job portraying Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Not only does he look the part, he can also act. But we knew that since ‘The Impossible’ (which is a great movie, by the way). He’s funny, he has the wit Spidey needs to crack jokes when he's getting beat up by thugs, and he also can make you feel sad when he’s getting beat up by life in general with his ‘Parker Luck’.

But, what is a lead role without his supporting characters?

Boring. That’s what it is.

Jacob Batalon is a scene stealer. He’s so funny as Ned, his relationship with Peter is one of the best parts of the movie; I’m glad they took a different direction with it, it feels nice to know Peter has someone to rely on, he has a good friend that supports him and helps him in any way he can. I’m pretty sure Jacob will be big some day.

Liz Allan, played by Laura Harrier, is very charming, smart and sweet, but that’s about it really, which is not bad in any way, but her character doesn’t really get much development (unfortunate, I know, Laura seems like a very good actress).

Eugene ‘Flash’ Thompson is played by the Lobby Boy himself, Tony Revolori. Now, I love Tony in everything he is in… And this is no exception (what? you thought I was about to be a racist prick?). He is great as Flash, he is a smart ass rich kid type of bully, not a dumb jock like it has always been (but let’s face it, that’s not really a thing anymore).

Zendaya is also great in the movie. She is very little in it, but her character is set-up to have a bigger role in the sequel (or sequels). She’s a weird character. If you look closely, in the gym party, besides not having a partner, she's lifting a book. Like, literally lifting. Also, in the party scene, she’s eating toast for some reason. Just a couple little details that I thought give her character a bit more depth. A bit.

The other supporting cast is really good too. The student group conformed by Angourie Rice (Betty Brant), Jorge Lendeborg (Jason) which are the two kids that give the school news, Abraham Attah (Abe), Tiffany Espensen (Cindy), Isabella Amara (Sally), Michael Barbieri (Charles) which are the kids in the decathlon team. The teacher group conformed by Hannibal Buress (Coach Wilson), Kenneth Choi (Principal Morita), Selenis Leyva (Ms. Warren), Martin Starr (Mr. Harrington).

Now let’s talk about the villains.

Michael Keaton is, debatably, the best MCU villain. He’s menacing, and to be quite honest, really scary; but you see where he’s coming from, you understand his motivations. He is not a super bad guy that wants to blow up the whole planet, he just wants to keep his business running and provide for his family; and that’s respectable. The means not so much though, that’s why he’s the bad guy. There are a couple other villains in the movie. One is the Shocker, played by Bokeem Woodbine (Herman Schultz) and Logan Marshall-Green (Jackson Brice). Yes, they are both the Shocker in this movie, and that’s fine. It’s pretty straight forward, really. There’s also a very brief appearance by Michael Mando (Mac Gargan) as the Scorpion… but without the cool scorpion gear.

In closing, I have to admit that the marketing for this movie wasn’t the best. It made it seem like Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) was a big part of the movie and that turned some people off. I get it, you wan’t this to be a Spider-Man movie, not Iron Man 4, and that’s cool, but at least wait until you see the movie to complain about something like that. Personally, I think the way Jon Watts and the other five writers (yes, this movie was written by six people) handled the Tony/Peter relationship was really good. A mentorship that worked for both of them. Peter learned that HE IS Spider-Man, either with a cool high tech suit or in pijamas. Tony has also grown as a person. He is not the same as in the first Iron Man. He’s messed up a lot of times, but he is in search of redemption and he got closer to it in this movie.

Final note, Jennifer Connelly as Karen (Spider-Man’s suit AI) was SO GOOD. The moments Peter and Karen talk are so sweet and tender.

OK. That’s it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This may be my favorite Marvel movie and is definitely my favorite Spiderman movie to date. Tom Holland has done an amazing job taking on the mantle of Spiderman. This movie had just the right amount of comedy mixed with drama, and action. The story was good, and I can't think of a character that I didn't like. It was even possible to feel empathy towards our villains. My two gripes are - the descent from hardworking blue collar men to criminals was just too quick and easy. I also wish there was a more fleshed out story/relationship between Peter and Aunt May. That's such a fundamental part of the Spidey universe, and even if they are making changes to the formula, that's one area I'd love to see as the franchise develops. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's definitely in need of some minor improvements, particularly in regards to the balance between "High School Movie" and "Super Hero Movie",and, the lack of meaningful development in many of the side characters. However, Spider-man Homecoming marks, in my opinion, a return to form for our beloved web-head.

Tom Holland makes for an interesting Peter Parker. His sense of power vs. responsibility is still being developed. He spends the majority of the first act obsessing over being an Avenger, to the point when it becomes an obsession. He's human and, as we are reminded time and time again, a "kid".

Michael Keaton is fantastic as The Vulture (Adrian Tombs). Then again, I expected that walking into the cinema. His villain has a certain gravitas that I, at least, haven't felt since Loki. His motivation is clear. You feel that uneasy sense of; "Sure, he's a bad guy, but he's doing it for reasons that, arguably, are pretty sound.".

Let's talk about the elephant in the room, and, by elephant, I mean Robert Downey Jr. No, despite many claims, this is not "Iron Man 4". Thankfully, Tony Stark is held back for the majority of the run time and only appears when it is absolutely necessary to move the story forward. His father-like role is actually quite endearing. Comically awkward at times but endearing all the same.

In terms of the rest of the supporting cast, I have a few issues. Peter's best friend, whilst starting off strong, comes dangerously close to "annoying side character territory". He doesn't really develop all that much, save for one or two instances of bravery. I hope that the writers develop him more in the sequels.

Let's get one thing straight. Zendaya plays a character called "Michelle". By the end of the film she casually says her friends call her "MJ". People are up in arms about this. Why? Simply put, "MJ" or "Mary-Jane Watson" is white in the comics. I have two problems with this argument. First off, MJ being white has absolutely zero bearing on the story of Spider-man as a whole. None. Secondly, and this is a big one, The MJ in Homecoming is completely different from the MJ in the comics. Down to her core.

All of that being said, Michelle, or "MJ", seems to only be there to provide a few moments of comedic relief in otherwise tense situations. She's great in these moments. But, again, I feel like more could have been done with her. There is development at least, which was nice to see.

That, I feel, is the biggest negative of this latest incarnation of the webbed crusader: The supporting characters just aren't utilized to their full potential. Hardy any of them develop in any meaningful sort of way.

All in all Spider-man Homecoming is a great refresh for the character. I just hope they don't mess it up by pulling an "Amazing Spider-man 2".

TL;DR

Side characters could use some love. This movie good though

Feature-ful spider-suit nullifies Spider-man's own abilities in this unrealistic reboot that could easily be better. Still fun though!
> Related media: I have watched all of the previous Marvel films and all of the Spider-man films.
> What's it like?: Following Captain America: Civil War, teenager Peter Parker is gifted the advanced Spider-man suit by Tony Stark (Ironman) and he tries to be a hero, but instead gets into all sort of problems and has to learn growing-up lessons.
> Pros:
> 1) Peter Parker is youthful, funny and genuine here. He was older and more emotional in Raimi's versions, which I was happy with, but he was older and more cocky in Webb's versions, which I did not like. Webb's versions also lacked excitement and danger.
> Cons:
> 1) There are far too many unrealistic aspects in this film, both physically and technologically. I’ll start with the advanced Spider-man suit. It has far more features than Ironman’s suit, which doesn't make sense. This also lessens the value of Spider-man’s own abilities. No emphasis (through slow-motion) was made of his spider-sense or spider-reflexes, thereby negating the uniqueness of Spider-man. If Captain America dons the advanced Spider-man suit, he can become Spider-man too!
> 2) The villains scavenges the alien weapons left over from the events in Marvel’s The Avengers and engineer them, in a garage, into weapons that have new abilities. I don’t see any SHIELD personnel being equipped with such weapons in past Marvel films, thus making it unlikely that the villains could have manage this.
> 3) Michael Keaton is 65 years old. No attempt was made to air-brush his wrinkles away. It seemed unbelievable that a character that looks 65 years old and has no superpowers could get into so many physical activities without injuring himself or dying. His acting was good though.
> 4) A ship split in two (it’s in the trailer!) would have broken up due to instability before Spider-man would have a chance to join it back together with his web, or whatever other method, not that either method would had worked before the ship take in so much water and sank anyway.
> 5) Raimi’s genetically-modified spider has a more realistic chance of giving Peter superpowers through its venom, than an irradiated spider, which would have died rather quickly.
> 6) The last fight between the Vulture and Spider-man was disappointing because it happened in the dark and I couldn’t see much of what was happening. Additionally, there seems to be numerous times, where the vulture could have killed Spider-man by simply grabbing him with his metal arms, but that did not happen!
> 7) Tony Stark appeared too many times in this film. This is a Spider-man film! Considering his appearances and the use of his advanced Spider-man suit, this film could have been called Spider-man: The Stark Connection!
> 8) There is an attempt to stuff the film with people from all racial backgrounds in the US. This felt unrealistic and hence the gesture felt overdone.
> How would the the different age groups rate it?
Children: Excellent
Teens: Excellent
Young adults: Good
Medium age adults: Good
Old adults: Average
> Tip: There are two 'post-credit' scenes.
> Rating: 4/5 (no half scores). It's worth to see it in the cinema.

TheThis film, tasked with bringing Spider-Man properly into the Marvel fold, is an entertaining experience with a refreshing joie de vivre which is accomplished by delightful performances and a determination not to take itself too seriously. The storyline is engaging and the script is at its best when having fun with the banter between the younger cast. The pacing is steady, and some of the action sequences are inspired, though the continued and deliberate fast cutting still manages to veer into disorientating territory as so many of these films seem to become enmired in. The soundtrack and pop culture references echo the lighter tone, and overall this reboot is the most successful rendering of this much loved character we have seen. Whilst I prefer my superhero hijinks more on the dark side, this is a polished and fun cinema experience worth your time, and stay until the end of the credits. 8.26/10 Expand

I know that 10 means it is perfect, but in my eyes it was. I have loved Spider-Man since I watch the 90s cartoon when I was around 1, I saw Spider-man 1 when I was 2 in the theaters and I have seen every Spider-Man movie and have loved them. This is the best beginning to a Spider-Man franchise, I don't know if it is better than 2, but I have to see it way more to make a conclusive decision. I can say that if you loved Spider-Man, go and watch this. This is arguably the best Marvel movie, but I am biased since I practically grew up with Spider-Man. If you were worried that the trailers show too much, don't be! The trailers just show you enough to think you know where the movie where go, but there is one big twist. I have never in my 17 years of age have been to a super-hero movie where the theater collectively gasps. I won't tell you what it is, but I will say I didn't see it coming. Without going into too much detail, this is my favorite super-hero movie. It is a SPIDER-MAN movie through and through. Iron-Man is really not even there for the most part. Tom Holland is the best Peter/Spidey combo we have. Tobey was a great Peter, but just a okay Spidey. Andrew was a fantastic Spidey, but a pretty bad Peter. Tom is a GREAT Spidey and a even better Peter. Some complaints are warranted like Flash Thompson, but I get the move. As someone in high school, it isn't the jocks who are bullies anymore, it is the nerds. Whether people can accept it or not it is the truth. On the young Aunt May, the actress isn't young, people act like she is 30, but in actuality she is like 50, she just looks young. I never really understood why Aunt May had to be old, it isn't like his parents had Peter when they were like 50, so it makes sense that the sister of Peter's mom would be around 50, since I am 17 and my aunt is around 50 too. It is a coming of age movie, with very realistic depictions of teenage angst and general awkwardness. I loved it when Peter got the suit taken away(not really a spoiler, happens in the trailer) because it causes Peter, to be Peter and that is why I think everyone loves Spider-Man 2, because when he loses his powers he just goes back to Peter. I love how Spider-man is just a kid, he is like the Luke Cage of Queens. He is just a small-time hero that saves kittens from trees or stops people from breaking into their own car.

I am so sorry if this is off topic and all over the place, but I just finished watching the movie for a forth time and I am still finding out new easter eggs and surprises. This movie is just too good to be true. After being burnt by my second favorite super-hero with Batman in the quite boring Batman V. Superman, I am glad the the people in Hollywood didn't mess with my emotions again. I JUST LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!

Now Spidey is in the MCU, where he belongs. Spider-Man: Homecoming was both funny and action-y, for lack of a better word. You'll enjoy watching Spidey crack jokes, and fight the Vulture as he learns from his mentor, Iron Man (or Tony Stark). You also see peter struggle to be Spider-Man during his Sophomore year in high school. Peter's best friend is no longer Harry Osborn, as it is Ned. His crush is not Mary Jane Watson or Gwen Stacy, as his crush is Liz. In addition, Aunt May now looks like an aunt, not Peter's grandma. In conclusion, Spider-Man: Homecoming is a movie I would recommend to both Spider-Man fans and action fans. Now go watch it! Expand

Although I am a big Marvel fan, Spider-man has always lacked excitement from me. The backstory, like Batman, has been overdone poorly multiple times. Spider-Man: Homecoming blew my mind by the quality of the movie. Since it assumes that the viewers know Peter Parker's backstory, it is able to jump right into the story line after Civil War. This movie has a great 1980's high school/ love story feel that everyone loves. The actors themselves were cast perfectly. Tom Holland, Zendaya and Laura Harrier were great in their roles and had great chemistry on screen. Jacob Batalon was the perfect person to play Peter Parker's best friend. You can sense the off-screen friendship throughout the entire movie.

Michael Keaton was, of course, great as well. Coming into this movie, I was afraid he was going to steal the show from all of the young actors. Although Keaton's performance was fantastic, Holland held his own.

This movie had very little flaws, in my opinion. It never felt like the movie dragged. The movie made me excited to see what they will do next with Holland and Zendaya. With her as MJ, events will start to spark in the next installment. I would give this movie a solid 9.75, which is the highest rating I have given. I think it is the best Marvel Superheros movie that has been put out so far.

...oh and Robert Downey Jr. was great reprising his Iron Man role. Set the next Avengers movie up nicely. Now... go see it!!!

Peter is younger and surely wants to prove himself. The FX are spot on and I though the costume was more intricate. Some actions scenes were a bit fast, and I am not sure the plane scene was that good. It felt like a flashy discotheque somehow. The acting is very good. A pretty solid 'grounded' spider-man film which deconstructs everything about teenage Peter Parker in a coming of age narrative, similar to John Hughes films like Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Sixteen Candles.

Finally finding his way to the MCU has managed to keep things fresh despite so many movies having already been made about him. Particularly because of the new angle on the character and some surprisingly welcome changes to classic elements and the supporting cast. Taking Peter Parker back to high-school and having him be a younger, more inexperienced version of Spider-Man that we haven't seen before is great. Being set in the MCU gives us more background as to how Spider-Man works in a world already populated by other, bigger heroes like we would find in the comics. Something that was missing from all of the other movies based on the character.

Homecoming is fast, funny, charming, and features a winning performance from Tom Holland as the popular web-head. The action is spectacular and the stakes are so much more grounded than the world-ending disasters the rest of the MCU's heroes have to deal with. A good thing as this scale is just perfect for the character and something the fans have wanted to see for some time. The movie even delivers the MCU's best villain yet. Moviegoers have been complaining about how stale the villains have been getting in superhero movies for a while now. Well, Micheal Keaton's Vulture does quite a bit to alleviate some of that frustration. His motives are relatable and his operation is more personal. The Vulture is given time to breath as a character and as a result he's the best villain a superhero movie has had since Nolan's Batman trilogy. Plus Keaton is just fantastic.

Homecoming manages to breath some new life into a character we've already seen onscreen quite a few times. It does so by going back to basics with Parker and delivering the character many of us grew up with in the comics. Of course it's own spins on things and a sharp sense of humor help out a lot as well and keep things from being too familiar. Essentially, this is just about everything a Spider-Man fan could want. It's great to see the character in the MCU where all of us wanted him. 8.5/10

I don't think thats entirely his fault as the dialogue and writing was full of mediocre attempts at forced cheesy humor and weighed this film down massively. Second, the PC SJW agenda was apparent in this from the start with the not so subtle in your face changes of many characters from Flash Thompson to Mary Jane to Herman Shultz as the Shocker. We get that hollywood wants change and diversity but to rewrite history for the sake of virtue signaling is pathetic and stupid. Thirdly, the way Vulture and Shocker are portrayed is complete and utter nonsense. They don't have nearly the same look as in the comics or animated series and the characters that play them didn't seem to fit either other than Logan Marshal Green as shocker 1 though they decided to kill him off immediately and replace him with the some other random actor. Keaton came off decent throughout the film but honestly his character was not menacing or threatening as many have made him out to be as vulture. While there were some decent action sequences strewn in, i cant help but think of this as a mediocre teeny millennial reimagining without much substance. I can say I even prefer the messy Spiderman 3 to this which is a shame. Expand

Basically Spiderman:Homecoming was fun, this is a really fun movie and it is one of the best Spider man movies ever made.

Before Sony shared the rights for Spiderman with Marvel I've always wondered what it would be like for Marvel Studios to direct a Spiderman movie and when I saw this movie I was completely satisfied. Tom Holland's performance as Spiderman is just Wow,I hate saying this because Tobey Maguire's Spiderman to me is my favorite but Tom Holland is the best Spiderman we've had so far.His Peter Parker is the right kind of nerdy but he witty, awkward and assertive at times which is the perfect blend. His performance as Spiderman is equally impressive because he is funny but serious when needed to be which is just great.

Now obviously what makes movie different is that this I not an origin story but also this movie isn't as dramatic as the Spiderman films before this which is good because this movie's tone is near perfect for a spiderman movie. This movie has good comedy from character lines to just funny moments and is the funniest Spiderman movie so far. Also as I said Spiderman:Homecoming is really fun,it's lighter tone is needed because this is a movie about a kid in highschool being a Superhero and the movie clearly explains what its like to balance the highschool aspect of the movie and Superhero theme.

The scale of this movie is also small as Homecoming isn't about a city being destroyed but about stopping thieves how are selling dangerous weapons and Spiderman has to stop them which was perfect for. A high school movie. Most Characters are good in this movie like Ned who is Peter's best friend has good chemistry between them and Ironman was good because he showed up were he was needed and didn't were he wasn't and had some great emeotionalt scenes with Spiderman which helped drive the story forward.

Now the villain,Michael Keaton's Vulture I must say wasn't really a villain in this movie but an antagonist mostly as you understand his reasons for being the Vulture and he is a person who cares for his family so when there was a plot that involved him and Spiderman facing off you get why and where its going. Other characters were good and necessary like Peter's Rival Flash Thompson who was funny and not just a stereotypical bully,Also Zendeya's character was funny and Peter's love interest had something significant to do and added to the story more that just being a love interest for Spiderman.

The problems with this film is that Aunt May is just plain Marisa Tomei's performance wasn't bad but I felt she didn't add anything significant to the movie and even when there was an attempt for an emotional scene with Tom Holland it didn't stick. Also I have to say the final battle between Spiderman and Vulture is disapointing and underwhelming as the action is the final act falls flt and the conclution is abrupt and just plain.

What i found very interesting about this movie is just this movie felt like an adventure, comedy and action film at different parts of the movie and the balance was spot on.The chase scenes where suspensful and exciting, every time Tom Holland was Spiderman it was a joy to watch and one important thing is that I never got bored watching this flim. The suit did some really cool stuff without saying too much and the emotional arcs in this movie were well delivered and perfectly timed.

Spiderman Homecoming was like a breath of fresh air it was fun, funny, emotional when needed and just a really good movie

Michael Keaton finally along with Jeff Bridges finally gives some kind of villain in the marvel films. That's until Josh Brolin's Thanos becomes relevant. I like that the film is mostly school and it shows Peter is just an average person like everyone. Now I think smaller kids will be turned off by this. They will probably be bored. As for the rest of us I think it brings a nice pace and realism to Spider-Man. I do think some things could of been handled better like the bigger set pieces. Tom Holland kills it not only as the webhead, but as Peter Parker as well. He portrays the character as an everyday school kid who just so happens to have superpowers that he uses to help people in need. THAT'S Spider-Man, and Holland plays the character so well that I'm not going to be able to see him as anybody else now. Michael Keaton also is incredible as The Vulture; he's easily the best MCU villain to date. A motivation, excellent acting, a chilling appearance, ol' Batman has it all. Spider-Man: Homecoming at heart is a high school movie, having a lot more downtime with Parker than any other Spidey movie. Here, it's done beautifully, actually giving us some reason to care about him as a character; he's a nerd, he's socially awkward, he's part of a quiz bowl team, he has a high school crush, he reminded me a lot of myself! That's what I didn't like about Andrew Garfield's portrayal; I just couldn't relate to him and I didn't care about him unless he was in his suit. Here, I cared so much if Peter could balance living a normal life and being a superhero. The characterization of Spider-Man in this movie is fantastic, and while I personally think Tobey Maguire is better, Tom Holland still nails this role, and he his the strongest part of this movie. The action scenes for the most part are fun; they're not as exciting as Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies, but they're enjoyable and fun to watch. Spidey **** happens, and Holland gets to crack some jokes without ever feeling unnecessary or formulaic. As for issues, despite benefiting a lot from showing Peter as a high-school student, the pacing drags considerably, and there were moments where I just wasn't engaged. Also, as previously mentioned, I felt like the action scenes could have been better; they're not bad, but I just wanted a bit more intensity and weight to them like in Raimi's action scenes. But overall, despite the spread of dull moments, It's the characterization and craft and tone that make this movie better than most Spider-Man movies. It's full of heart, excellently casted, and very well-acted, and I would highly recommend it. Not the best Spidey movie, but the best one since '02.

SCORE: 8/10

I always have been, so I'm going to leave personal bias out of this review. Spider-Man: Homecoming is definitely not the best "film" that has ever been produced for this character, but it's hands down the best portrayal of the titular character that has ever been put to screen. Coming off Captain America: Civil War, fans loves this rendition of Spider-Man (for the most part) and were very excited to witness his first solo run. I can happily say that I had an absolute blast watching this movie. Sure, it feels very much like an addition to the already existing Marvel Cinematic Universe, but people who expect otherwise shouldn't be excited for these movies anyways. Here is why I believe fans of the existing Marvel franchise need to get excited about Spider-Man: Homecoming. There is no denying that this is a Spider-Man movie first, worrying about the rest of the universe as a secondary element, but there is something that has become very episodic about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When it comes to Spider-Man movies, the first thing they need to do is be entertaining. If you don't walk out of this film at least pleased by its entertainment levels, then you must have not been in the right mood to watch this movie. The action sequences (which there are quite a few of) are done with care and there are many quippy one-liners throughout the entire duration. Everything this film needed to do in order to perfect the characters and the spidey action, I believe it did so tenfold. I can't complain about this movie too much, so I have nothing to do but score it very high. Spider-Man: Homecoming is a giant showcase of the best this character has ever been on the big screen. There is only very need to a film is a better working out and more attention to the spider-sense. Expand

The action scenes are pretty great as well. They aren't as dazzling as Amazing Spider man 2 or as tense as Spider Man 2, but they all serve their purpose and were enjoyable to watch. The last one in particular was amazing imo, but I'm not going to spoil it.

Other than that, the movie looked great, with some good cinematography, great acting all around, and a fantastic villain that is much better then most Marvel movies. A must watch for sure.

Movie is brilliantly paced and Tom gives us a great peter who's both intelligent, superhuman but very human at the same time. The suit looks amazing and very practical and the AI adds to Spiderman's character. Michael Keaton does an amazing job convincing the audience his motivations and the Vulture suit is just grand in design making for a memorable MCU villian. The fight/action scenes are truly enjoyable and this movie can be watched multiple times over. It doesn't feel like a Marvel movie and yet it makes you feel it's part of the MCU. Lastly Tony has just the right amount of involvement and doesn't overstay his welcome. It leaves the audience wanting more in Spiderman 2 and the Infinity war. Expand

If it was just another typical marvel film, I would have given this film a 3 or maybe even a 2 and a half. Sure it has the comedy, the drama, and the hero saving the day. But there's something about it that felt different. Perhaps it's the first time we've seen a superhero movie where the student's high school life is actually a big part of the film, unlike the previous Spider-man films. There were a few parts in the movie that I didn't expect, but most of it had been predictable. The theme of "With great power comes great responsibility" seemed to be the basis for this film, and it's not that bad. I enjoyed watching Homecoming, because it felt somewhat like a coming-of-age film a little more than a superhero movie.

With a lot of baggage when it comes to spiderman (two ok, one good, one bad, one terrible) I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. But Marvel proves one more time that they can make great movies in spades. Spiderman: Homecoming does something that 5 previous movies hadn't been able to do: capture both the base spirit of the character, and really capture the spirit of part of the teenage experience (which for Hollywood, it's a lot). Apart from the Guardians's movies, this is probably the most times that I laughed out loud in a superhero movie (maybe even more that the Guardians, although can't be sure), the humor is excellent and really works with how the characters are portrayed. And even if the fun and laughs are present in general, that doesn't stop the movie from telling a good, coherent story about both the pains of growing up, and nails one of the core aspects of Spiderman, that even if he is in the Avengers, of the FF, or any other team or event, Spiderman is supposed to be a character you not only can root for, or aspire to be like, but is a character that you can relate to, a character that is here with the "little people" not up there in Olympus. And the movie really nails that aspect down, with excellent performance from Tom Holland that so far seems to be the best Spiderman so far. Add that excellent appearances by Robert Downey Jr., Jon Fravreau, and a nice villain in Michael Keaton's Vulture, and you have a really have a great homecoming dance. Welcome home, Spiderman, hopefully this is the beginning of great things to come. Final verdict: 9.0 Expand

The same Spider-Man!

After the film "Captain America: Civil War" everyone was waiting for the long awaited return of Spider-Man. Especially where his appearance was one of the memorable moments of the film. Marvel and Sony made an agreement that finally beneficial for us — we got the same spider-Man from the comics. Tom Holland suited for the role of a young and inexperienced Peter Parker. Believe me, if we have at least 3 of the film, we see the character development. Holland, though young, but plays very dignified and conveys all the emotions. Believe him. He is torn between his heroic life, and chooses a heroic life even, not because he wants to spend impression on Tony Stark, Peter just be himself — a hero. After watching the film, many were not satisfied with a large presence of non-white students. Peter Parker lives in Queens, there are so many "colored" people, so don't be surprised. Environment Peter good from his aunt to friend ned, though there are some silly scenes, and his love interest played awful. Tony Stark in this film are not so many and almost all the scenes shown in the trailer. Tom Holland looks great with Robert Downey, although the latter presses charisma in joint scenes. The film will be and happy, it put Tony stark to look after Peter, it will give us some funny scenes. Despite the fact that this movie is more about Peter Parker than Spider-Man, we got the canonical Spidey from the comics. Yes, he is: clever, brave, always joking, talking a lot. Only in the film, he has not yet experienced. Spider-man Tom Holland conveys the plasticity of the character, the humor, the fact that he likes to talk, besides his suit was there a lot of cool features. Villain the Vulture was played by the talented Michael Keaton. And it is a strong villain with a clear motivation (what is important). He is a villain not because he wants to take over the world or wandering aimlessly to kill everyone. No. He is a villain because there's no other way. He needs to take care of his family, provide for his wife and daughter, and the other way except robbery, he did not find. Empathize with him and understand that he is a victim, as they say "not we such, life such". His costume is cool! It combines comic book canons and manufacturability. In addition to the vulture showed Shocker, but it is very minor villain was. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is one of the best films about Spider-Man. For some, it will be the best. In the film we get not only a confrontation between spider-Man and the Vulture, but the development of Peter Parker, his emergence as defender of the city. May we not seen another scene with the spider bite and the murder of uncle Ben. Let we many times saw them and know what's what. Humor is pleasing, the Vulture and spider-Man gorgeous, they are excellent rivals. The plot is ordinary, no surprises, probably at the end of the day you already don't remember what movie. It is light, and quickly disappears.

To clarify, I have seen all the prior films with Toby Maquire & Andrew Garfield. I found each film enjoyable for different reason, but as I left the theater I felt the most rewarded by the newest entry. I think Tom Holland was perfectly cast, as his age and demeanor felt right for the role. The film also benefited from the appearance of other established Marvel characters, leading to some enjoyable Easter eggs. I do understand that this film had a little bit of an advantage, as it did not have to show the audiences another origin story. I recommend the film to any Spiderman fans, or just fans of the overall Marvel Cinematic universe. Expand
