This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you aren't tired of watching Spiderman movies by now, you're probably a hardcore Spiderman fan.For the rest of us, the question is "What does this Spiderman movie have to offer that others don't to make it worth watching?" and to be perfectly honest unless the answer is Tony Stark I'm not really sure what else, and that's only if you're a big Iron-Man/RDJ fan. For me, Tony Stark looms over and takes the spotlight from way too many scenes in this film, to the point it hardly feels like the focus is really on Spiderman. At least many of the other MCU origin movies got some room to develop the character and breathe before uniting with the other Avengers, and as far as this film goes you can't even really call it an origin story, as Spider-man's powers are never actually explained. As tiresome as it is to sit through the whole spiel again and again about how Peter Parker becomes the Spider-man, this film does the exact opposite and never once mentions how it happened, which makes the whole spider theme feel very forced and the hero rather unbelievable. Maybe just a quick reminiscence or flashback or just verbal explanation could've sufficed. All-in-all, this film starts out enjoyable enough to watch. It's nice to see a Marvel movie in a suburban setting for once, making it feel more real for those of us who don't live in the big cities, or outer space, that most of the others take place in. The common "plodding 2nd act" is a big problem with this film. There's a definite slow point where you might as well pee and refill snacks, as it fails to remain engaging for about 20 minutes or so of the film. However, the final act makes up for it in a big way, as I feel it is truly the strong point of this film, showing us who these characters really are and what they are willing to do. On the other hand, the overall conflict seems a bit meaningless and low-stakes (stop bad guys from stealing stuff and selling illegal weapons). Yeah yeah, been there done that. There are some coming-of-age depictions of high school life that are poignant though, and a growing revelation that will be relatable for some viewers about a young man who is missing out on some of the greatest moments and memories of childhood in his quest to grow up too fast.

The visuals are pretty great, especially in the last act of the film. Overall, I wouldn't say this film is terribly memorable, but I feel like this would be a really fun film to watch as a teenager. For everyone else, it's probably about what you expect.

It was really funny and epic at the same time. The MCU did great on the movie and Tom Holland was really perfect to be the one and only MCU's Spider-Man, not to mention that Tobey Maguire was too old to be that character that time

Watts has a great team, Holland, in the film, does not, he swings out as a hero without the "the one" clause.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Watts is in safe hands and the franchise in his. Most probably because he has more than five writers contributing majorly on developing a light hearted durable version of our friendly neighbor, that has lately been changing. With these many comic writers, that are mostly averted from their sitcom works for this huge banner film that has actually seen fame through this very character back in 2002, John Watts is simply following the rule, to a degree that his world that revolves around teenagers couldn't even be bratty properly, what a shame.

Revisiting one of the most successful superhero in the box office may not be a good idea, but somehow those filters that bars the imagination of the makers also makes them bulletproof. The history won't repeat itself, and Kevin Feige who has previously worked in the original Tobey Maguire trilogy, clears out all the speculations we have had of this character over the ages. Just freeing those limitations itself helps flow the narration with a quick pace and before you know it, you are having a serious talk with Aunt May played with an hip and happening attitude by Marisa Tomei.

But there is no point involving supporting characters in here, for even the writers never glances twice at them, and this is where the film stands alone in this franchise. Even for a brief period, each of the chapter in MCU feels obliged to include the supporting characters in narration but here, Peter Parker is the target and.. bullseye. For a film of more than two hours, Tom Holland runs on merit and pulls off an entire film on his shoulders, with a compelling performance that shifts according to the tone or maybe he himself controls the tone, after a major fiasco NYC's heartthrob returns home in this Homecoming.

This is one of the most fun movies I saw in 2017 and one of the best and must fun and entertaining MCU movies ever. This movie is really funny, with solid acting and good writing, this is basically a comedy and a really good one. Tom Holland is a perfect fit for Peter Parker and Spider-Man and Michael Keaton as The Vulture is great, his acting was solid, not Oscar-worthy obviously, but the reason he was really good is because his character was well written and developed, the same with Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Now the only problem I have with this movie is that is TOO funny. Yes, I praised it for being funny and entertaining, but it's too funny to the point that there's nothing emotional or dramatic, or there's no tension, there are scenes that are supposed to be serious but then they end it with a dumb joke. Some drama might give this movie a balance that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies (specially the second one) actually had. I don't ask for like tragedy as that's not a synonym for drama, but maybe some conflict, some stakes, maybe make The Vulture a menacing serious villain, but nope, he also cracks jokes ocasionally as all the characters.

Overall I enjoyed the movie a lot, this is a good movie overall and I would definetly watch it again and again to have a pretty good time

If this be My Destiny

Spider Man:Homecoming –

Wit – (20/20) The screenwriters continue a great job of integrating humor into the stories.

Story – (18/20) ( -2 for rebooting the character for the 3rd time.)

Iconic Homage (20/30) – 30 points for at least noting the event(which the two previous Spider Man’s failed to do) but -5 for substituting an inferior motivation(earning a suit instead of saving Aunt May) and -5 for rushing through the moment. Let him struggle, let him suffer, let him bleed, let him almost give up.

Uncle Ben Score – 0/10

Creativity – (20/20) Love the new suit. It’s great to see Spidey get some new abilities, as the Scarlet Witch has.

78/100 Four Stars

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is hands down one of the best Spider-Man movies since the success of the first two movies in the Sam Rami trilogy. Actor, Tom Holland, portrays the character almost perfectly unlike any of the other past adaptations and past actors who took upon the role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Holland was able to perfect both sides of the character by having Peter Parker being the nerdy, shy, yet awkward teenage scientist like he should be and differentiate that with his alter ego, with his fast-talking humor and quipping to annoy his enemies. Past actors of Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, sadly could not get this right. Don't get me wrong, Tobey's portrayal as Peter Parker was incredible, but he could not get the personality down of the man who's supposed to be constantly babbling and annoying his foes while fighting. It felt like he was only capable to stay as the nerdy science guy under the mask the whole time. Garfield, on the other hand, is the polar opposite, his performance as the wise-cracking Wall-Crawler was great. But when he takes off the mask it's almost like he's not Peter Parker. He didn't show off many parts of his genius side, he didn't act at all that shy towards people and not at all nerdy or uncool compared to the popular crowd. He came off as a normal guy in Highschool, not to mention he would occasionally skateboard like he's almost like Tony Hawk or something. That did not really scream "nerdy" to me. This is why I believe Marvel made the right call to cast Tom Holland, he is the Spider-Man that we disserved. Now, on to the main antagonist himself, The Vulture, played by Michael Keaton. Unlike past villains we've seen before in past movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this villain isn't all that evil, he's pretty relatable. His only intentions start when he was cleaning up the aftermath of the battle in New York City from the events of the Avengers. Just then, the Department of Damage Control takes over his work site leaving him out of the job all because of the one who sent the Damage Control people in the first place, Tony Stark. All he ever wanted was to take this job to provide care for his family. He tries not to overextend himself and to stay from the Avengers radar for the past few years and smuggles alien tech from the Atari in order to sell it for money. The Vulture could be considered one of my favorite villains in the MCU considering his actions aren't all that bad. Although, that does not take away the fact that he can come over intimidating and scary at times. For example, once Peter discovers his Homecoming date's father is actually the Vulture when he opened the front door the whole theater, including me, had gasped in shock then it got real silent. himself the setting gets very intense. Peter is in a tough spot in this situation and feeling uneasy that he's with both the person he really likes and the one who he hates which once also wants to kill Peter. The car ride to the dace was very hard to watch because the Vulture was slowly learning Peter's identity once his daughter Liz kept questioning Peter for his absences and that Spider-Man happens to show up everytime he disappears. The tone in Vulture's voice when he started speaking to Peter had gotten deeper making the tension build, I was riding my teeth the whole way through. This movie was quite fun and enjoyable. Had some very funny moments here and there, which had me laughing quite a lot, and then there's the giant tension builders and the dramatic yet immersive fights. Moments like when Spider-Man is badly hurt and on the break of death got me off the edge of my seat, it made me feel and connect with the character more since he's also quite relatable to me from the fact that I'm also a teenager just like him going through high school. I look forward to seeing how great they can go with this for their sequel, hope it's able to top this first phenomenal movie. Expand

I am the first out of all people to be nostalgic, but honestly? You have no reason to be disappointed at all with this film. I trust this movie to actually be the best Spider-Man film ever. Because, honestly? It has the comic book rendition of the character, good acting and overall, is fit in a greater story that it's only just beginning. If your main complaint is that Spider-Man is a teen— well, you must have never read a comic book, then, that's how Spider-Man started. True, he might not be great at decision making and is quite naively realistic, but honestly? Do realize that he's still got two films to make, plus the Avengers one. This is just the beginning of his character in the MCU and he's already begun to grow up a lot. So do wait for it, because everyone knows Spider-Man is the greatest character in the Marvel universe and they wouldn't ever waste an opportunity to make a great story out of him. Expand

Spiderman webs back into action!

The Film that I am reviewing today is Spider-man: Homecoming the latest Marvel film directed by Jon Watts and I believe that this director has gone above and beyond in creating one of the greatest interpretations of Spider-Man to date.
The basic story of the film is, a few weeks after the Civil War fought between captain america and Iron man, Spider-man is sent home equipped with a new suit ready to protect Queens, (a suburb of New york) from petty crime and to help people whenever is needed, however as peter gets use to his role as the friendly neighbourhood spider-man he grows tired of being a small player in the large world that is Marvel, and thus Spider-man decides to prove that he is worthy of being. An Avenger.
The starring role of Spider-Man (Peter Parker) is held by British actor Tom Holland and his mentor in the Movie Tony Stark or Iron Man played by Robert Downey Jr. with other actors playing supporting roles to Tom Holland like Marisa Tomei who plays Spider-Man's Aunt and Jacob Batalon playing the best friend of peter in the Film, however the role of the Main Antagonist is taken by Michael Keaton who plays the Villainous Vulture.
Throughout the movie the production value of the Film is quite outstanding, with the film using great CGI effects for spider-man webbing through the city skyline or the dramatic and effective final duel between Spider-man and the Vulture, meanwhile Tom Holland himself didn’t really use a stunt double, as most stunts were done by the Actor himself.
This story has two types of storytelling conflict within the Story, those being Man vs Self and Man vs Man, with the latter forming as Peter Parker or Spider-Man begins to doubt himself and his abilities and whether he deserves his abilities, Meanwhile Man vs Man comes from Spiderman vs The Vulture as Spider-man has to defeat the Antagonist in order to prove his worth to Iron Man and to extent the Avengers, He also creates a bond with the Villains daughter making Spider-man second guess himself on whether to turn his friend’s father's into the police. Overall this film was made for the fans, the fans that love Spiderman with many references to past Spider-Man adventures and nods to previous Marvel films, but also this movie is perfect for Teens, as spiderman himself while having superpowers still goes through normal day troubles like High School and having a girlfriend. But overall a great film, and thus my rating for the film is a nice 9/10.

This was a good brainless movie full of the biggets plotholes on a MCU movie, probably ever.

But it is funny, for the most part. The movie doesn't try to be more than good, and focus on the characters, with plenty of little scenes that make you laugh and don't need to much exposition to serve a gran story.

Because of it simplicity and small scale, we get to see how funny the Spiderman Universe can be under Marvel.

There are problems (the bully cast is INSANE. Not the race, which I don't care, but the actor who makes really hard to believe would ever bully Tom Holland. Couldn't you find an imposing indian? Or put more attention on something that dude had to make Tom Holland being bullied by him at least acceptable?
(Maybe show how incredibly rich he is, and how he basically buys an entourage, and THAT'S why Tom can't do much other than resist).

Anyways. Keaton is having waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more fun than when he was BAtman....

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-Man: Homecoming is a great movie. And why I don't think it's the best Spider-Man movie, it definitely is the best one since Spider-Man 2. Tom Holland is probably the best Peter Parker to date, and he brings a good amount of charm to the story. Vulture is one of the best MCU villains ever, and Micheal Keaton's performance is amazing. I have a few flaws with the movie though. The action is not up to par with older Spider-Man movies, and his high-tech suit and reliance was a little exasperating throughout the first 2/3 of the movie. Luckily, that suit gets taken away from him in the 3rd act, so there's that. Overall I think this is one of Spidey's best movies, but don't go in expecting something like the Raimi films, or you'll be very disappointed.

I don't think thats entirely his faultFirst of all let me say that Tom Holland's portrayal of Peter Parker/Spidey has to be the most annoyingly ridiculous incarnation so far and in no way shape or form captures the comic character properly. I don't think thats entirely his fault as the dialogue and writing was full of mediocre attempts at forced cheesy humor and weighed this film down massively. Second, the PC SJW agenda was apparent in this from the start with the not so subtle in your face changes of many characters from Flash Thompson to Mary Jane to Herman Shultz as the Shocker. We get that hollywood wants change and diversity but to rewrite history for the sake of virtue signaling is pathetic and stupid. Thirdly, the way Vulture and Shocker are portrayed is complete and utter nonsense. They don't have nearly the same look as in the comics or animated series and the characters that play them didn't seem to fit either other than Logan Marshal Green as shocker 1 though they decided to kill him off immediately and replace him with the some other random actor. Keaton came off decent throughout the film but honestly his character was not menacing or threatening as many have made him out to be as vulture. While there were some decent action sequences strewn in, i cant help but think of this as a mediocre teeny millennial reimagining without much substance. I can say I even prefer the messy Spiderman 3 to this which is a shame. Expand

But filmmaking isn't just about spectacle and humor. Those two things help to get butts in seats, to be sure, but it takes a whole lot more than that to elevate a film to an enduring status above the level of disposable summer thrill. And that's exactly what this movie is: a disposable summer thrill.

Starting with something that works quite well here, the writing is fast-paced and very fun. Spider-Man is finally portrayed in Homecoming as a believable, quirky teenager and the awkward humor serves up just the right amount of cringe to be considered adorable. But in the midst of all the amusement lies a myriad of genre clichés like the carbon-copy love interest, every single high-school-movie trope imaginable, and a villain that (without spoiling anything) ends up having a shoehorned connection of some sort to the hero.

Let's talk about the villain. (I'll be as vague as I can so as to avoid spoilers.) He's probably the most well-developed characters in the film, and is an above-average Marvel villain. He has motives that the audience can sympathize with. He's not evil, but rather a man who turned to wicked means to achieve an end that he saw as good. This could have served to be a great strength for the story by creating a moral dilemma for the audience, but it just fails to do so because aside from motive, his character isn't developed at all. We're told briefly what the purpose of his plans are, but they're just brushed aside as more fight sequences come in. It's like the movie couldn't decide how intelligent it wanted to be and it just wasted so much of its potential moral weight.

Tom Holland does a great job as Peter Parker. He really brings to the screen the Peter Parker from the comics in a way that's truly groundbreaking and refreshing. But aside from him, everyone else just does fine. Nobody's bad or cringe-worthy, but everyone else just phones it in and it becomes hard to care about what's happening because when Peter's friends are in danger we don't really care about them. They're all just wooden filler characters.

Ending on a positive note, the visuals are fun to look at, but I don't really need to say that. It's just kind of expected for superhero movies these days.

In the end, Spider-Man: Homecoming is nowhere near awful. It's a very well-done film! It's hilarious, briskly-paced, action-packed, and Spider-Man is a character that's much more relatable than anyone else in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It certainly doesn't even remotely add anything to the world of cinema that we haven't seen before, but the movie knows what it is, and it works very well as high-octane pure entertainment.

I would have loved to have given this specific movie an 8 because how much I enjoyed it. But because of the trope it inhabits and the liberties that need to be undertaken to make the story bearable and likable despite their unlikely and leap-y nature, I came down to a 7 as you can see.

Having given that interesting and exciting tidbit about how my mind works when thinking about review numbers, I would like move on to the worded part of my personal opinion about this movie which is, I repeat, I really enjoyed the movie and even more so the cast. The story is fresh reboot devoid of the baggage of the previous editions of the franchise - Marvel couldn't rope in 'their friendly neighborhood Spider-man because Tobey Maguire (I quite liked the original trilogy) was too old to fit in and Andrew Garfield's portrayal was over-the-top, dousing the darkness (with Gwen's death and general loss of life) in such a way that in no way was fit for the MCEU storylines we have come to know. And all that didn't even matter because Marvel hadn't even re-acquired their sold rights during the times these movies were made. Thankfully, this movie definitely comes under the taglines of "everything happens for a reason" and "good things happen to those who wait" (both of these statements are not universal truths at all but do generally make sense because of how human minds and lives work and rationalize our existence). The story is way more high school-centric and the cast feels about in the right age groups which helps immerse the audience in the story as much as they can about flying robots and teenage spider mutants (and taking myself as an example, you could say that the immersion level is quite high since I have always considered it terrific and terrible that Spider-man could exist and world of superpowers was possible). The start to the movie is a cool move on part of the people who made the story possible because it really gives a contemporary to the times sort-of feel and integrates Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland into the MCEU. The fact that Holland has such great chemistry with RDJ and fact that Iron Man's personal stake in Parker's life and story is reaffirmed and plays a necessary part in his struggle to find acceptance for his powers just made it real for me, since Iron Man is where it all began 11 years ago from now (in 3 days, it all comes full circle when I get to rejoice or possibly get terrorized by the arrival of The Mad Titan as Stark and Parker try to fight back). As far as the story goes, it is fairly simple and don't think there is any point to spoil the little things as it far too enjoyable to go in somewhat blind. But it does provide that some room for the actors to flex their skills with a twist here and there.

Personally, I was much more interested and delighted about the cast and what they brought to the table for the story. So, thank you Director Jon Watts and in addition, Homecoming is where you may finally feel at home in Marvel's clutches (despite its money-grubby nature) and that is quite a good place to be before the War based and for the gauntlet which spans Infinity begins.

Anyway, this is a teen movie at its core, but the story is pretty bad and has plenty of annoying teeny moments. Tom Holland is convincing enough in the role of Peter Parker. Michael Keaton makes for a very interesting villain in the role of Adrian Toomes aka the Vulture, it's refreshing to see a lesser known Spider-Man villain other than Doctor Octopus or the Green Goblin. Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man acts as Spider-Man's mentor and saves him twice. But the final fight is a big mess. And Aunt May is 30 years too young, not the feeble woman who fills Peter with such a sense of responsibility. Those supporting players created the dynamic that made Spider-Man interesting. Add to this all the hyperactive Tony Stark tech and this movie just isn't Spider-Man, not to this longtime reader of the comics. And the film is politically preachy. Tom Holland is also a nice turn from the ordinary Peter Parker, and he is very charismatic which just adds a lot to the table. Also the fact that all this is now tied in with the big MCu, and Iron Man. The story is really great, but there where a few useless or rather unnecessary scenes. It fits in perfectly with the now established marvel universe that doesn't take it's self too seriously. The film uses the formula that made Gaurdians, Deadpool, Thor Ragnarok, Ant man and Dr Strange so cool. It's stylistic, funny and has some awesome action all held together with a fun soundtrack. The story flows well and there's never a dull scene. Spiderman and Peter Parker feel more like the early comic books and The Vulture makes a good antagonist. The only let down is the SJW nonsense that breaks the illusion. Now I get that in a modern high school you'd get kids who have been brainwashed into a cultural Marxist view point and would probably point out things like certain American monuments were built by slaves but some lines were really cringe worthy. Such as the teacher pointing out that 'protesting is a right'. The diverse cast is also a little strange. They literally have every race in a room at a time. The worst change is Flash becoming a dweeby Indian kid who is about as intimidating as baby groot! He doesn't fit at all. It was just a bit overkill. The film would have worked fine with the same cast bar Flash (at least chose a strong looking Indian guy!), dropping the social justice commentary and it would have been a fine example of how to tell a great story with a diverse cast. Aside from the annoying SJW nonsense the movie is great and thoroughly enjoyable. I can't wait to see the new Spiderman in his next movie! Expand

First off, I hated the fact that Spider-man's origin wasn't introduced properly because the MCU decided to continue directly from Captain America: Civil War. And for this the DCEU actually did better as they introduced Wonder Woman properly after not introducing her properly in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Precisely becuse Spidey's origin wasn't introduced properly, it needs to be introduced properly in this movie! Secondly, in the comics Spider-man was able to shoot webs on his own and not depend on some stupid web-shooter. Yes, I understand that when he first debuted, he needed to build a web-shooter to shoot webs. However, many of us are familiar with him being able to shoot organic webs on his own and they should just stick with the modern origin we all know and love. Thirdly, I hated how Iron Man was in the movie 99.9% of the freaking time. It made Peter Parker look like some sort of sidekick to Iron Man. One of the reasons Spider-man is unique is because he is the first superhero who is a teenager and not a freaking sidekick! And this movie just completely ignored that. The producers and directors might as well title it "Spiderman: Iron Man's sidekick". Fourthly, I hated how the suit had so much freaking AI because it came from Iron Man! And well, this is actually linked to the first and third problem of this movie. Because if they had introduced Spiderman's origin properly and not put Iron Man into the freaking movie, this problem wouldn't have happened as we get to see the normal suit of Spiderman. Fifth, I hated how there was a general lack of respect for the characters that were adapted on screen. Just look at Ned, Mary Jane, and all the supporting characters and compare with the comics and you'll know why. Sixth, I hated how there were just way too many lame jokes in the movie, many of which were said by Spiderman. They just made the movie more unwatchable, in my opinion. Lastly, I hated how overrated this movie freaking is by both viewers and critics! Look at the RT score: 92%! And look at the Metascores! They are just way too high for a trashy movie like this and in my opinion, this movie is many more times more overrated that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice! Seriously do not get what's so good about this movie! Expand

Now that Marvel has the Spider man character in the MCU we can finally get the proper portrayal of Spider Man done amazingly by Tom Holland. The story is simple, yet it works perfectly for this younger high school Spider Man. Its about Spider Man wanting to be an proper Avenger like his idol Tony Stark. Seeing his struggle at being a hero yet trying to cope with high school is a side of Peter Parker that we haven't ever seen in a Spider man movie. His interaction with the others feel real and it is great.

The Villain Vulture played by Michael Keaton is a perfect casting. The Marvel movies have been known for their forgettable villains and for this movie the villain is significantly improved. He feels menacing yet has sympathetic qualities that makes us understand why the Vulture does what he does. The side Villain Shocker and the Tinkerer are also there but they ain't really focused on but this is actually fine since trying to focus on multiple villains like the previously awful Spider Man movies doesn't work and it is great Marvel didn't fall into this trap. A minor nitpick is that the movie never really ever states the villains name "Vulture" ever throughout the movie and that doesn't really make sense considering that the Shocker was mentioned.

The score for the most part does the job well and sets the tone of the scene. The only notable song has got to be the orchestral version of the famous Spider man theme and that was a really nice touch.

If there has got to be a flaw for this movie then it has got to be the action scenes. The action scenes in the movie are not bad by any means but they are relatively tamed and not super memorable like Spider Man 2 fight on the building or the train. Overall, it is just great to finally have Spider Man back home.

Built on the enjoyable portrayal of the classic hero by Tom Holland, the movie moves away from the classic origin story which is refreshing, bringing the play-boy and billionaire Iron Man into the mix, which surprisingly works for Spider-man, bringing technology and a father figure. As well as being funny and faithful to the comic-book character, the movie brings a horde of talented supporting cast from the new Laura Harrier and Jacob Batalon to the great Zendaya, Marisa Tomei and the promising Micheal Keaton as the Vulture, you're never short of skill no matter how hard you look in Home-Coming. I enjoyed how the modern feel, though felt the final action sequence was dark and confusing. But all in all, this movie was one of Marvel's greatest. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-man homecoming is a really fun movie to watch. Probably one of the best parts of the movie was when he finds out the Vulture is actually liz’s dad. This movie is great. The cast of this movie was great. There is not much to hate about this movie at all. Spider-man homecoming is probably the best spider-man movie so far. Most spider-man fans would probably love this movie aswell. Expand

Expand

Young & hungry to fight crimes!

No doubt, Tobey Maguire Spider-man is the best. It was also the first modern superhero of the millennium. The visual effects and entertainment wise, the second live-action Spider-man was good too, but this one is so different. This is about a teenage superhero. Just a kid. Having possessed such superpower, how he manages it alongside his normal life was nicely told.

This story begins straight away, because the introduction was done in the previous Marvel film, which are part of Avengers universe. Peter Parker assisted by Tony Stark, is very keen to fight small crimes compared to what Avengers fighting for. He feels, he's held back by Iron Man, so he wanted to make independent decisions. At one stage he succeeds in that, but things get more severe. Fighting bad guys, and the other side of his life, a romance, how the remaining story turns out are revealed with a twist.

Tom Holland was good. The story was simple, more like one liner. But the visuals and each scene forged nicely. Having seen all the five previous Spider-man films, this was quite predictable. Particularly the characters and their connections. Seeing how it had ended, it is possible that the daughter of the villain could take-over her father's place. That would be very interesting, because of the linkage between the film characters.

After seeing the first look, I was afraid that this young Spider-man might be overshadowed by Iron Man, but those parts really well done. Comparing it with the 15 years ago Spider-man, the technology has been the biggest change. That's why I still love Tobey Maguire film. Very simple and down to the earth without cell phones, computers. But the current superhero films are all alien oriented/connected theme, and of course digital technology a big leap. Hoping the next film too would impress us with the same intensity. So lets wait for summer 2019.

I was very surprised, I liked the movie quite a lot.

I have to say I expected this to totally suck. I am so tired of Spiderman reboots that I want to scream. I liked Sam Raimi's Spider Man, I hated the reboot and this was seeming on a suck trajectory as well.

I am tired of origin stories, and I am tired of high school and this seemed to be both an origin/reboot and high school characters. I wasn't even sure about going, but the husband wanted to see it so I agreed.

I am glad I agreed, and I can say I was wrong. I am still not keen on high school age. I have a hard time identifying with high school now that I am 3 times the age of the character. However, it was written very well. It did follow some tropes but it tended to write them in a way that kept it interesting. Even his teen angst at being kept back from doing real superhero work wasn't overwhelming and just felt right.

It wasn't a reboot origin story. I had assumed this would be the movie showing how Peter Parker got his powers and arrived at Captain America's movie. I was wrong, this continued after the movie and didn't bore you with flashbacks or callback to his origin. It was refreshing, I liked meeting MJ and his sidekick was pretty damn cool.

The biggest surprise that made it as good as it was, was casting Michael Keaton as a blue collar turned villain. It is the only blue collar bad guy that I have seen that felt right. Keaton is a great actor, the story was written well and I really liked what happened at the end. How he talked with Spiderman and how he dealt with his own family.

I definitely recommend the movie, and I will definitely be seeing the next one that comes down the road.

The good: Michael Keaton, the lack of an origin story on film, and just the acting and writing overall.

The bad: Teenagers, I like it, but I would like it better if they were all adults.

I had given up on Spider Man movies after the first two debacles, this one is a completely different take. Gone are the hoaky clichés of the genre, this movie pulls no punches. It's amazing how Marvel continuously churns out truly great adaptions while DC falters badly with pretty much every step.

It easily succeeds Spider-Man 3, TASM 1 & 2. It has some great moments. However I do not view Homecoming as the best Spider-Man film ever. It is FAR from being the best Spider-Man film. The villain wasn't anything special, infact I didn't find Michael Keaton as a GREAT performance as many people say he was. All in all his portrayal was pretty decent. It wasn't anything that impressed me but it didn't manage to make me hate him either. Tom Holland is believable as Spider-Man, he has the nerdiness and the good quips with him. He is a better Spider-Man compared to Andrew Garfield, his portrayal of Peter Parker was also much improved compared to Andrew Garfield, however he still shys away from being the best Peter-Parker/Spider-Man. Tobey Maguire still has the best portrayal of the character after 15 years. Tom Holland has some great Peter Parker moments in this film, he has nerdy and lovable. Spider-Man Homecoming's set pieces are mediocre, sure it had some good action sequences such as the ferry scene. But it wasn't anything remarkably decent. There was no GOOD swinging scenes, NONE, Spider-Man was completely restricted to his neighborhood, and not once did we see him go for a swing around the city. I was very disappointed. The Soundtrack wasn't memorable at all, it was disappointing and by far the worst Spider-Man soundtrack I ever heard, it pains me to know that Spider-Man will never have a great score ever again, as Marvel never does produce any good compositions. I also did not enjoy the fact that Spider-Man received all his gear and was pretty much fed by Tony Stark. However this did add some great story telling to the film, what would happen if he didn't have all of his gear and had to be Spider-Man like how Spider-Man really should be.

Overall:
Spider-Man Homecoming manages to bring some great performances, and a great cast to make the best Spider-Man film in the past 10 years. However the film still struggles to reach the legacy of the original Spider-Man films. A failing soundtrack and disappointing set pieces backs it away from even being the best MCU film let alone being the best Spider-Man film.

Michael Keaton is given very less screen time. We would have liked to see his reasons for being bad guy other than just money. I felt like this was a wasted opportunity. In other spiderman movies villains always had a good story and reasons for being villainous. Look at green goblin from first movie or sandman from spiderman 3.

It was frustrating to see spidey failing so hard at everything. Spoilers ahead. Iron man comes to save his ass 2-3 times in the movie. He has no capability to use his spider senses. He gets hit by everything coming his way. All in all what I am trying to say is this version of spiderman doesn't feel like a superhero or even a guy who is on a journey to become one.

Spoilers ahead. He is only able to capture vulture because of vulture's own flaws. He shows little remorse for his friend Liz because she lost her father. The movie seems to be made half-heartedly. I really wanted this movie to be good but I was disappointed. Watching this movie just made me realise how good those early movies by Sam Raimi and Tobey Mcguire were.

Homecoming is at least better than amazing spiderman though. That was one piece of holy crap.

Tom Holland was surprising for me not expecting too much of him. I like Andrew Garfield more as Spider-Man and Tobey Maguire over Andrew Garfield but Tom Holland himself did a solid job. He was a bit too young as Spider-Man for my taste but that was not the problem. Certain things in the movie felt very forced and that is never a good thing for me in games or movies, no matter the direction, whether its "forcing to meet expectations" or "forcing to do something exactly different". At times it worked, and sometimes it just felt weird in the movie. Yes, Peter is in this incarnation also a troubled teen and he has to "find himself" to see that HE is Spider-Man already and yet, even if he has to find that out, Spider-Man seems TOO incompetent here. Where is his spider sense? If it is in the movie then it definitely was not shown well. And overall his abilities. Or him being afraid of a certain height being reached. It should not matter if "that is his first time". He is this guy who should not even care about such a thing. So what if he falls? He should have no problem swinging back. Same for his strength. This is kind of touched in the end "when he finds the strength after finding his inner Spider-Man" but still. He seemed like an RPG Spider-Man that was on Level 1. And it is a bit weird because I know Spider-Man, even relatively unexperienced still as ridiculously good enough simply because that is what those comic heroes are. However - it was fine. Michael Keaton as Vulture was probably the best thing of the entire movie, so was Peter's AI Lady friend "Karen". Now here's the thing: "MJ" is re-introduced. Yes, I know it is said "she is not Mary Jane" and "there are other people in Peter's life", however, well ... she is still Mary Jane. She does not like her. She does not have the same name. But of course there will not be a second character named "MJ" introduced just so we have a literally named Mary Jane Watson with read hair as romance for Peter. We already have an "MJ" who is a female "not yet but somewhat love interest". This is really nothing but another interpretation of Mary Jane after reducing her to her nickname and "potential romance". The most literal way to bring in "Mary Jane" without bringing in Mary Jane - as that will surely not happen; it would be awkward to have two Mary Janes. I guess the point can be quite gotten. Mary Jane lives on in this character. And that is just another one of these things that "are just different". I am not sure how much I like this or a very young Peter, a Flash that reminds me nothing of flash or an Aunt May that gets younger and more attractive in every movie incarnation she appears but as mentioned before, it was okay nonetheless. It was entertaining and I would say with that it did what it should do. But I would definitely want one of the other two Spider-Man incarnations as part of this Marcel CU canonicity. Still great respect to all people working on this movie. Expand
