This movie was not bad but it's hardly epic and interresting. The villan is a major dissapointment. The car was only in the movie for like 10 minutes. And there is barrely action in it if you compare it to skyfall. Just watch it one time in the cinema but stay away for it then.

Wait, am I watching a bad Roger Moore era remake? Are we really back to the comedic stunts and unwitty wit?
The film rambles on from one cliche to another making you feel like you're watching a Bond film you've seen before. I think they're just milking the Daniel Crag "formula" while they can. Scene after scene falls flat due to either bad acting, bad timing in direction or bad music. Sorry. Wait for the next one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Serving as the final act for Daniel Craig's rebooted Bond, "SPECTRE" does everything it has to. It delivers terrific action sequences and, thanks to returning director Sam Mendes, looking great doing it. Its premise is a clever one, that all of the trials and tribulations that 007 has faced over the past three films were orchestrated by the film's eponymous shadow organization, headed by Ernst Stavro Blofeld. After MGM finally settled the legal wrangling around the rights to the classic supervillain, it was inevitable that he'd make his appearance in Craig's swan song, and Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz delivers a predictably wonderful performance in the role. But it's what the writers of "SPECTRE" chose to add to Blofeld's characterization which is the movie's biggest flaw. It's a big enough leap to expect audiences to buy into the retconning of the drama of the last three films as being due to a heretofore unmentioned (at least in this particular iteration of the franchise) secret organization. To make its leader James Bond's heretofore unmentioned 'brother' is a retcon too far, and in my opinion a needless one. However, that creative boondoggle aside, the 24th official Bond film does a decent job of providing Craig's Bond with a measure of closure, even allowing him, for the first time, to get the girl in the end. It's almost there to a good score but this movie of 007 named Spectre has almost made it to the score of 7. It's pretty much decent and loving at the same time while it's lacking the excitement from the previous 007 movies.

The action’s fantastic, and the sound and sets are great; though the story telling is inconsistent – certainly not as good as that in Skyfall and Casino Royale at least – and the script isn’t as good as in those two. Furthermore, Christoph Waltz’ performance as Blofeld seemed too much of a failed attempt to recreate Javier Bardem’s portrayal of Silva, and some of the ideas in the film weren’t too inspired. However, nothing in the film I’d say was bad, far from that; and more concentration on the action made for a fantastically entertaining film and probably one of the best this year, albeit not quite as good as some of its predecessors.

If this really is Daniel Craig's final round as 007, he's giving fans a killer farewell

If there is such a thing as "James Bond's Greatest Hits," then Spectre is it. The 25th movie about the British MI6 agent with a license to kill is party time for Bond fans, a fierce, funny, gorgeously produced valentine to the longest-running franchise in movies. Bond freaks will be orgasmic playing spot-the-reference to the series that began in 1962 with Dr. No.

Non-freaks still have Daniel Craig to feast on. In a photo finish with Sean Connery as the best of the six movie Bonds, Craig comes out blazing. He's a blunt instrument in a creamy Tom Ford tux, alive with danger and sexual swagger. This is Craig's fourth time as 007. After the abysmal Quantum of Solace, he rallied with Skyfall, the biggest boffo Bond ($1.1 billion worldwide). Craig's stated goal was to make Spectre "better than Skyfall." Not quite. Casino Royale, Craig's first go-round, remains his peak, the film that caught Bond in the act of inventing himself.

Spectre carries on Craig's reinvention of Bond, blowing a reported $250 million budget on spectacular action without losing what's personal. Skyfall director Sam Mendes is back to keep things real, but the plot cooked up by John Logan, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Jez Butterworth is a 148-minute minefield of distractions.

Ah, but what distractions. Apologies to The Spy Who Loved Me, but the Bond series has never had a more drop-dead dazzler of an opener than this one, set in Mexico City on the Day of the Dead. With Bond leaping across rooftops to take out the evil Sciarra (Alessandro Cremona) and winding up in a dizzying chopper battle above the crowds in Zocolo Square, the scene is a visual triumph for Dutch camera whiz Hoyte van Hoytema (Interstellar, Her) and a new peak in the art of eye-popping.

Then Bond is off to Rome, chasing bad guys in a custom Aston Martin DB10 and having sex with Sciarra's widow (Monica Bellucci, still wowza at 51). The widow is Bond's entree to Spectre, a secret society of global terrorists led by Franz Oberhauser (Christoph Waltz), a mystery man from Bond's orphan past. "I'm the author of all your pain," says Franz, whose ID is easy to guess. No spoilers, except to say that Waltz, purring with lethal charm, is perfection.

Back at MI6, Bond and the new M (Ralph Fiennes) face a new enemy, C, short for Max Denbigh (a smarmy Andrew Scott). He's a bureaucrat who wants to refit British intelligence for the digital era: drones in place of agents and the end of the 00 program, which made spycraft hands-on. So it's Bond, M, Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and gadget-master Q (a wonderful Ben Whisaw) against the cyber-Nazis on one side, Spectre on the other.

Spectre even offers a fresh take on the Bond girl. She's Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), a French doctor with a name out of Proust and no patience for Bond's swinging, macho lifestyle. She puts the randy spy in touch with his feminist side and, just maybe, lasting love.

Not buying it? Too candy-ass? I see your point. But Bond's train fight with a hulk called Hinx (Dave Bautista) recalls the brutal choo-choo classic in From Russia With Love. Craig puts heat and heart into Spectre, as if he's taken Bond as far he can. The movie is a fever dream of all the Bond villains and all of Bond's efforts to see a life past them. An exhausted Craig has said he'd rather "slash my wrists" than play Bond again. There's still one more film in his contract, but to quote Sam Smith's Bond song, "The writing's on the wall." If so, Spectre is a stirring, way-cool valedictory. Craig does himself proud.

Taking hints from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, this is a half political thriller, half classic espionage action. As a result, so many moments throughout this film make you grin from ear to ear at the humor, thrilling action and the cliched but just brilliant style in which the whole film was directed and acted (plus the way it was scored.) There's also some great character development, for example James' relationships with Madeline and his associates are beautifully developed by the amazing script, and audiences can now really feel like they know James well. To follow on from Skyfall in such a way deserves huge huge credit.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: It just wasn't quite as emotional or gritty as Skyfall; it feels like some of the more emotional moments were glossed over to make room for the heavy plots which, despite tying up being something Mendes does well, feel disjointed from each other. This makes for a rather underwhelming ending overall.
VERDICT: If you love Bond you'll love this - and you might love it even if you don't. It's a proper classic, but that does stop it having the overall appeal that the revolutionary 'Skyfall' did

The scale of the film and some of the other driving shots later are breathtaking and almost hard to believe are real, there's so much scenery in frame, the cars look like toys. There are a few humorous moments as well, Craig showing how in control he is in nearly every situation, which is part of the mystique of the character. We go from Mexico City, to London to Rome to Austria to Switzerland, to Morrocco to a hollowed out volcano in the middle of the desert to.... London again... Lots of flying around, and the whole movie is supposed to take place over 4 days or so... We get to see more of Ben Whishaw's Quartermaster, he's a master hacker, who only one film earlier accidentally forgot he plugged the baddie's computer into their network, which was exactly what the villain wanted and got the MI-6 building blown up, here he hacks the most complicated computer system ever, by himself, on his laptop over wifi, and also manages to decipher the DNA coding of all the bad guys from a ring Craig got off a dead guy, thats just how good he is, though his car modding skills were a bit blah. just using a label maker and putting some toggles and a small LED readout to the dash of the film's Aston Martin DB10, was a bit slapdash. However he is able to singlehandedly totally rebuild and re-spec a 1962 DB5, which the filmmakers seem to forget who owns the car... as it is classically, Sean Connery's car of choice in the 3rd film and in several subsequent movies and Craig wins it in a poker game during "Casino Royale" but in "Skyfall" it has the Connery armament, which if you ask the producers, you'll again get the "we already have your money, go away" answer again... Its somewhat nostalgia wanking and fan service, though is also somewhat a disservice, with how Craig was supposed to be a stand alone reboot of the character, even though the filmmakers return to the well of Films Past.

Christoph Waltz plays the film's heavy, though Dave Bautista's laconic henchman fills the term more accurately, he's not only physically imposing, but he's also very effective and won't give up, and earns himself a spot on the Classic Henchman Wall of Fame, but Waltz plays a figure of Craig's past and leaves the reason he doesn't like Daniel up to the birds. There's an odd civility between hero and villain, more expository dialogue than there should be, it's a two hour fourteen minute film with maybe 4 action set pieces totally 20-25? minutes of screen time... Recently Daniel Craig has stated his disdain for the character, which maybe i'm not the only one who's caught on to these cinematic sins. The movie is fun for the parts that its fun, but there's a lot of time you can go run to the rest room, or take a phone call, or write a movie review and come back in time for the another action scene and go back out to the lobby. There's not much my words can do to desway people from seeing this film when it opens in the US on November 6th, the marketing machine on it and hype alone have already all but guaranteed its success, but i just want to point out it's merely just a Spectre of what a good James Bond movie should be.

"Am I supposed to be impressed?"

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The biggest problem with Spectre is that it feels like just another entry in a long series. Like a mid-season episode of a TV series that knows it doesn't have to try very hard. For the first half of the film I found myself bored because without an intriguing plot the action did little to entertain me.

The romance is unconvincing. Yes, I know that Bond always has a girl, but it appears that we as an audience have become too accustomed to it since the film's makers put in little effort to establish the romance. Sure, Bond is supposed to be a womaniser, but Madeleine is supposed to be something more instead of just another woman to be seduced. Why does Bond care for her other than because the plot dictates so?

But the thing that most intrigues me is why is this film so alike to Mission Impossible 5? It is basically the same plot in the same spy genre. Is it really a rip-off or just a symptom of Hollywood's chronic lack of originality?

That all said I can't say I disliked this film. It's a decent action film and it picks up toward the second half.

It feels not as the epic conclusion of an ideal quadrilogy, and more like a tv season finale, trying hard to tie loose ends and raise interest for what’s next. Waltz’s villain lacks any interesting motives in his nonsensical actions, and nothing feels genuine here. It is a feature that it’s also a cannibal of its own IP: it doesn’t play on its status nor its most famous Spectre organization, but it feeds on these things just to come up with something between the action scenes. Skyfall’s sense of urgency had probably raised the stakes a little too much, and no real character development appears on this installment, no new ideas. The initial tracking shot is probably the most fascinating item on this feature, and at least Mendes has mastered his skills in Bond visuals and action scenes. SPECTRE is nonetheless enjoyable, full of classic throwbacks one might have missed (film stock!) or not missed that at all (poorly drafted female characters and villains). It’s still fun to watch most of the time, but it has very little replay value. Expand

What I mean is, Spectre suffers from double personality disorder: while the action sequences and the general way in which Bond manages to slink his way out of anything just by sheer luck are light-headed and cartoonish, one feels the underlying plot of international conspiracy a bit too harsh.

On another note, I don't quite like this tendency to reveal details of Bond's past, as I feel his charm relies heavily on the mystery of it. Skyfall, for instance, was good as a one-off thing, but with Spectre delving further in, we might just now too much about Bond, now, for him to be still as intriguing as he was in the beginning.

Daniel Craig confirms himself in a role that seemed unfit for him when Casino Royale came out - now it's difficult to find anyone who doesn't agree he was one of the best Bonds ever.

I understand they were going for that classic Bond style (few words, all style) but it didn't work and really needed shorter but sweeter action sequences. What I loved about Casino Royale is that Bond used his wit and charisma over pure muscle and shooting. Didn't get all the hype around the "Bond girl" Monica Belluci..she was barely in it. Really most of the credit goes to Léa Seydoux who was terrific and made an interesting Bond girl for sure. Whole picture was lacking everywhere else however and jumped to too many locations. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A big disappointment after Skyfall.

I just can’t understand why it is so drab. Why it has gone low key. It seemed tired.

“Spectre” and “Blofeld” are shamefully under-used.
Waltz has no menace in this. He is a bit impish, mostly dispassionate. But not scary. He supposedly runs a criminal organisation that all the others are scared of, but none of this comes across.
His initial appearance at the Spectre meeting (which is held in a big public building & Bond just blags his way into…) is quite effective, whilst he is in shadow – but then he smirks up at Bond and says “cuckoo”.
Blofeld says he was behind all of Bond’s previous villains – but LeChiffre and Silva were menacing/scary. This Blofeld just isn’t.

The supporting characters are good (M, Q and Moneypenny) but Bond looks bored. His affair with Monica Bellucci is passionless and pointless.

The opening sequence in Mexico is brilliant – and the fight in the train (but it makes no sense. Why is Bond being attacked when Blofeld wants to meet him & punish him? Why is there no one else on the train?).
The escape from Blofeld’s lair is ridiculously easy. Bond just shoots a few things & everything blows up. And again, Bond rescuing the girl & Blofeld’s demise are just perfunctory.

It should have been bigger and badder, but it was as if the Director suddenly became embarrassed to be doing a Bond film and tried to make it “real”, but unfortunately just made it dull.

Skyfall seemed to establish a new Bond, building on Casino Royale – a gritty realism, but with a nod to the old Bond. That should have been enough for Spectre to build on. Who wants to see a “more real” Bond? A wasted opportunity.

The opening scene is spectacular. One of the best Bond openings. It's a drawn out shot, a long sequence, and it sucks you into the movie, wham, you're there. Make sure you go see it in a theatre with a great sound system. It's a long film, almost 2.5 hours, for better and for worse. Mostly for better. In Quantum of Solace, the pace was so high it just blurred by, all action, bang, bang, bang. SPECTRE is more drawn out affording to linger in certain scenes, giving more texture, more detail, more the feel of what it's like to BE there. It's what makes Bond Bond, time for a drink, time to take in the scenery rather than only breathless action. Sam Mendes, and his cinematographers have brought real beauty to the Bond franchise. Nothing beats Deacon's color palette in Skyfall, however. I miss his cinematography in this film. It would have heightened the beauty of it more than van Hoytema's love of grainy images. It's not bad, yet I think Deacon would have made more of it. Other improvement points? I had huge expectations on outrageously skilled Christoph Waltz, but he's sort of not capitalized upon. He begins well, and he's creepy but it doesn't go beyond that. Javier Bardem was sensational in Skyfall. A tough act to follow, perhaps? I get the feeling it's the script that holds Waltz back. There's not much in it. In fact that's the major issue: the Bond movies need better scripts. They shouldn't start until there's a rock solid story. In addition, perhaps it's time to bring in some more evil forces, real scary stuff, going on in the world, rather than villains who seem sort of harmless, even though they're creepy. As for Léa Seydoux, she's great and plausible in her role. Great natural looking make up as well. Only a few faux pas, also script wise (no details, don't want any spoilers). Lastly, the title song. I remember reacting to the song, really listening during the opening. I wasn't sure whether it was a man or a woman, or both. Captivating. Sam Smith's singing is fantastic. All in all, what stays in my mind after this film is really the opening, the laughs, a sweaty sequence in north Africa, and the feeling it was worthwhile to see it for its entertainment value. Expand

Despite the fact that Spectre is undoubtedly so far the most popular movie of 2015, it seems that neither critics, nor the audience really appreciated it. That's probably because this is the most dark and thoughtful James Bond movie.
For the first time in Bond history the bad guys are not just one ridiculous and eccentric person (ex. Goldfinger) but a massive network of legitimate companies and white collar criminals. The enemy is in fact modern capitalism. The main themes in Spectre is that you can't really divide humanity into good and bad guys and that Information is today's most valuable asset. This is the first Bond movie that parodies itself, since even the use of the special agents is put under criticism. Bond operates under no authorization and seems powerless against this massive conspiracy like a "kite dancing in a hurricane", as one of the bad guys states in the movie. Moneypenny is now black, Mr Q is a young hacker and even the "bad guy" is using technology and not muscles to torture Bond. In a nutshell this is the most modern movie of the series. Sam Mendes' direction is a bit different and strange (what did you expect from the guy behind American Beauty?), Bellucci becomes a Bond girl just for a night, Lea Seydoux is sexy, Daniel Craig is (as always) tough and sarcastic and Christoph Waltz is just fantastic (possible oscar nomination). Worth mentioning is that Spectre features a great sense of humor that lacked earlier entries. All in all those new elements mixed together in this modern James Bond version give a new breath of life to the series but might puzzle the old school action driven fans. Still, there is plenty of action in this film and Bond always manages to succeed in an explosive way, just to make sure that the series remain on track.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Movie started unexpectedly okay then second half lived up to the expectations with the fakest 'love' story and the worst rip-off villian ever. So predictable with james 'the slut' bond falling in 'love' and chosing to be the good guy after killing all those people cold blooded as he throws away his weapon and going to his 'love' in the most cringy way. By the way someone should stop C.Waltz. Arent we all tired of seeing the same character over and over? Expand

Great opening sequence before titles, but rest of the film was a relatively plotless hunt. Lots of nods to classic Bond set pieces, but ultimately a boring travelogue with guns.

It was advertised before it was released. This Bond flick is beautifully shot from start to finish (the love scene on the train, though brief, was a work of art); the best acting in any Bond film to date; the best character development of Bond in any Bond film to date (I know there are people who want Bond to remain a flat cardboard cutout comic book-like character; I'm not one of those people); a teaser among the very best of Bond teasers; arguably the best opening animation sequence (but the song is forgettable); the single best Bond story to date. But it is in a way a real drama as well as a Bond movie. Again, some people complain about this along with the (relative) realism of Craig's Bond, and the grittiness, but I love it. I'm not a child so I need a little bit of realism, at least emotional realism. I plan to head back to the theater to see it again, this time in iMax, which will make this the only Bond film I have ever traveled to a theater to see twice. For my money the two best Bond movies since Connery are Spectre and Casino Royale (Casino Royale had the most beautiful Bond girl in history, Caterina Murino) and the most specifically motivated villian. As for Skyfall, the writing ruined it. Comic bookish vaguely motivated bad guy; a radio homing transmitter as a Q gadget? Has Q not seen the iPhone?, and a Bond who didn't behave consistently with his character as established in Craig's first two films. No, for my money Casino Royale and Spectre are the best Craig Bond movies and the very best Bond movies since the 1960s. I would love to see Craig come back for more. Expand

Daniel Craig is perfect as always, the supporting cast good as always, love Q and the whole team. The new Bond girl does a great job too in this film. Spectacular scenery and action as always, with so much class. You won´t regret watching it. The first 10 minutes are some of the best openings ever in any Bond film.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If I had to sum up the film in one word, that word would be: soulless. It's baffling to really understand how Spectre went wrong, but I think I've managed to find some root causes.

On paper it has the potential to be on of the better films, and the retention of the majority of the Skyfall team should have delivered a polished, and concise movie about the introduction of Bond's greatest nemesis and cinema's original megalomaniac.

A strong opening scene ends up being extremely misleading for what is yet to come although predictably, Daniel Kleinman's title sequence is as slick as ever, even if Sam Smith's theme feels awfully out of place considering the subject matter at hand: global domination and the nature of surveillance.

Post-title sequence, the cracks begin to show. The narrative of the film is what lets the whole production down. At first it may be surprising considering the misleading credits mentions the writers as Logan, Wade and Purvis, the same writing trio as Skyfall, with Wade and Purvis being veritable veterans to Craig's stint as Bond, also writing both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. The bulk of the writing was however done by Logan and director Sam Mendes. Wade and Purvis where brought in at the last minute to touch up some of the screenplay after Craig and Mendes were dissatisfied by the finished product.

Spectre then is a cautionary tale in what happens with a lack of peer-review. Ejecting Wade and Purvis may have been a decision motivated by finance, but right now it feels like it has backfired. Logan's writing is like a mish-mash of what is "expected" from a Bond film, but not necessarily well executed.

A bland car chase through the streets of Rome (or a non-descript back alley of Rome), decides to focus on some Moore-inspired humour, as what feels like 20% of the chase focuses on an overweight gentleman in a Fiat 500, it's an attempt at humour that outstays its welcome, but don't worry, the same car chase decides its also more interested in 009's taste in music and Bond's exasperation as Q forgets to load the car with ammunition. Compare this to Quantum of Solace's rip-roaring opening car sequence, where it gets dirty, bloody and brutal. The whole scene is indicative of the film over all. There is a lack of substance to every attempt at box-ticking the Bond tropes.

The romance sub-plot is hampered by Craig and Seydoux's barren desert of chemistry. Swann bizarrely decides she doesn't want to be part of the films climax, despite assisting Bond happily up to this moment, in what is some spectacularly awful writing. "I can't do this anymore" she crones, or words to that effect, then disappears until it's her turn to be rescued by Bond, again.

It's a far cry from Green's portrayal of Vesper in Casino Royale, who is shown to have her own agendas, her own vulnerabilities. The maturity of writing between Green's Vesper and Seydoux's Swann is perfectly exemplified with the brutal stairwell fight in Casino Royale and it's aftermath, compared to the train fight. In Casino Royale, Bond is bruised, bleeding and emotion exhausted, "get Mathis" he barks at Vesper and Vesper is left visibly traumatised by the events, allowing for her and Bond's emotional guards to drop in the shower scene that follows. In Spectre, Bond barely has a hair out of place after the train fight, makes a quip and he and Swann have sex. It's awkward and emotionally shallow writing.

Blofeld is barely worth mentioning, his scenes are sparse and we are left with virtually no rapport built between him and Bond for us to be invested in seeing his demise, a waste of a character. It's almost the opposite of Skyfall's Raoul Silva, a villain that gets extensive characterisation. The principle henchman portrayed by Bautista suffers from the same treatment. He pops up to be instantly whacked back down by Bond, there is very little tension in his scenes, he never "bests" Bond in the same way that Oddjob or Jaws did. We are told he is dangerous, but what we see is incompetence.

Overall, the film feels like it's Daniel Craigs first outing as Bond, as if he does not know what type of James Bond he wants to portray. The tone sways between an attempt to ground the film in some very contemporary political commentary with the "Nine Eyes" project (a plot thread which is dropped and left completely underdeveloped) to the inane, and dare I say, childish.

The last 30 minutes in particular are absolutely laughable and make zero sense.

There aren't even any action sequences that stand out in the film, they all feel completely bland and forgettable. By comparison, you can watch the action scenes from Casino Royale multiple times and they're still amazing.

There is NOTHING memorable about this film at all.

Spectre is admittedly an underwhelming and unsatisfying watch that is filmed with Bond fandom to try keep die-hard fans interested.
Still a far better watch than QoS, it is far inferior to Casino Royale and Skyfall. The opening tracking shot of the day of the dead Mexico setting feels like a clear but lovely hint of foreshadowment for a hopefully depressing and dark instalment of the Bond franchise, but it doesn’t lead up to anything. The action sequence here is relatively entertaining, and is shot well with a few bits of added comedy but fails in comparison to CR and Skyfall.
From here on out with have too much half assed moments. A car chase which isn’t exciting but more made for comedy, an Oberhauser (Waltz) who is horrendously under used, a menacing bad guy (Bautista) who is like the Darth Maul of Bond villains, and action set pieces which are trying to be big but don’t really excite. The plane sequence down the mountain is actually quite boring to be honest, and the train fight is pretty cool but just doesn’t end well; you can easily see what’s going to happen. The relationship between Bond and Seydoux’s character also seems rushed, forced and unbelievable, and to top things off the final sequence of the film is just such a punch below the gut, wholly unsatisfying. Even certain deaths of this film (almost all) are just underwhelming and not memorable, it’s like their deaths were written in as an after-thought in the script to get them out of the way.
Daniel Craig is still pretty charming as Bond in this film but still he can’t save the film. Also, Monica Bellucci’s character was completely dumped as soon as she was introduced, asking the question why did they promote her when they announced the cast if she has about 2 minutes of screen time.
A very unsatisfying end for Daniel Craig to go out as Bond. Hopefully he will return just one more time.

I was really disappointed by this movie. I liked the previous Bond films with Craig, but everything about this just didn't work for me.
Things that didn't work for me:
1. Helicopter fight scene - I'm just going to cause a stall with this helicopter and then kill the pilot, then I'm going to pilot the helicopter myself. He could've just told the pilot - land over there.
2. He just killed this woman's husband but then thinks its a reasonable idea to go over to her house and basically force himself on her.
3. M says well I need this job cause I have a mortgage and a family but OK I'll disregard my orders to help you anyway.
4. I'm going to rescue the daughter of the assassin that I just gave a gun to so that he could kill himself and then I'm going to bang her. Then she's going to express her love for me even though we just met like two days ago.
5. Let's take a train to the middle of the desert and enter the enemy's camp with no weapons, plan or backup and of course we're going to win.
6. Oh were the bad guys and we know everything because we have this big surveillance operation that we just demonstrated but we don't think to strip search James Bond and make sure he doesn't have any nifty life saving gadgets on him.
7. Hi I'm James Bond and I'm going to use a plane to chase cars and then I'm going to crash the plan and kill everyone but I don't get a single scratch on me. Oh and its been 10 minutes since something blew up so here is an explosion.
8. So the main bad guy is this brilliant man who works behind the scenes to establish this world wide terrorism conspiracy surveillance system but what really has been bothering him this whole time was jealousy of James Bond because the bad guy's father gave James Bond some attention.
9. Oh, and now that we're closing in on the end of the movie it's time for pointless explosions again.
I think this movie may have been written by a ten year old.

The two good action scenes are the opening sequence with the chopper and a bout with Bautista's character on the train. The car chase could and should have been done better. This film's high budget shows but it is lacking in the artistry fans expected, especially considering the good work Mendes did on Skyfall. Here the editing and cinematography are often at odds and the script is riddled with plot holes and inconceivable happenings. This film could have been so much better, but it simply lacks the layer of polish the other Craig Bond films had. Here's hoping Craig gets one more go as Bond as this was not a proper send-off. For Bond's latest outing and in reference to The Batman's most recent adventure, Spectre follows directly on the heels of, and was perhaps unfairly expected to top a series best.
Skyfall, like The Dark Knight, delivered the knockout punch critics, audiences and the box office were all screaming for. After the success of both films, their respective studios and the film makers involved were tasked with what must've seemed like mission impossible; recreate that same magic whilst giving audiences something they had never seen before.
Cut to 2015 and Spectre arrives, much like The Dark Knight Rises did back in 2012, to mixed reviews, diminished expectation and division among it's series fans.
But is it all doom and gloom? No. While the film itself is not quite the well oiled machine it's predecessor was, and although it's stab at tying up all that has come before is thinly executed and is therefore annoyingly less than convincing, Spectre is however a worthy entry in the Bond cannon and the Daniel Craig era of Bond films. It succeeds in scope as a globetrotting action adventure, it is beautifully photographed and it's set pieces rival if not better much of what has come before, particularly it's pre credits sequence.
Unfortunately, like the film I've referenced here and for all that Spectre does have going for it, it will forever live on in Skyfall's shadow. Watchable, fun, sexy and cool but achingly and perhaps annoyingly running a close second to Craig's best.

To be completely honest and straight forward. I'm not a Daniel Craig type of guy, I'm more of a Pierce Brosnan. Either way here is my honest review of Spectre.

The movie was kinda a let down. They should have upped the film rating from PG-13 to R to get more action/gory scenes in the movie that is usually limited by the PG-13 rating. I thought it had cliche moments, situations, and endings in the movie that you can probably guess what is going to happen next, even if you haven't watched the movie. In general, the movie did not feel like a James Bond film it felt more like a movie that separated itself from the series.

In sum, the movie needed more action. It did not have enough of gadgetry like how a James Bond film should have and more focused on adding 'fluff' to the storyline.

"Spectre" 10 Scale Rating: 7.0 (Good) ...

The Good: Daniel Craig once again reminds us all of why he's been such a fantastic Bond. Sticking to a depiction of the character that is closer to his literary counterpart, Craig might be the best Bond actor in the series. As usual, the settings were fantastic and exotic. The opening sequence doesn't disappoint and overall the action is well done. The fight scenes are also well choreographed and are the perfect blend of comedic moments and violent moments, which is a Bond staple. The supporting cast mostly delivers as well. Wishaw is an amusing young Q, Harris was a solid Moneypenny, and Bautista was classic Bond henchman. While Judy Dench's camaraderie with Craig was definitely missed, Ralph Fiennes was more than adequate as M. Perhaps one of the stronger points of the film was the fact that the other operatives in MI6 got plenty of screen time and were actually an integral part of the final outcome. Lastly, while he didn't have a ton of screen time, Waltz was fantastic as the lead villain.

The Bad: Unfortunately, Waltz's character was poorly written and not very well developed. His motivations were questionable and the end game of his organization, Spectre, was not as grand in scale as one would have hoped. As the film attempts to tie the previous three films together with this one, more was expected from the shadowy organization supposedly behind it all. Lea Seydoux (who is a very talented actress) was completely wasted in the film. We are advised and shown early on that she is tough as nails and can take care of herself, but then degenerates into a cliche damsel in distress within minutes of appearing, remaining that way right up until the end. She also lacked chemistry with Craig, thus making their supposed love completely unbelievable. Lastly, MI6 are "betrayed" by someone close to the organization, but the individual in question was obvious from the moment he steps onto the screen. When the big reveal occurs, you're surprised to find that this was supposed to be a twist of some sort. "Spectre" isn't a bad film and I enjoyed it and while it is a much better film than the disappointment that was "Quantum of Solace", it falls well short of both "Casino Royale" and "Skyfall".

First of all the opening scene of the movie was great, it was well shot and fun but the tempo for the rest of the film went downhill from there. What this movie really had was solid performances, like Daniel Craig's performance as James Bond(gold as always), Benjamin Whishaw as Q was also good, and Ralph Fiennes as M who surprisingly filled Judi Dench shoes well, but Christoph Waltz as the villain was rather disappointing,he never really feels like he is part of the movie because his screen time is short and even when he is there he really didn't do much as Oberhauser(Blofeld), in the last act there was some hope, but all potential was wasted, don't get me wrong he wasn't a bad villain it's just that he didn't do much. The run-time of the film was okay for me, it didn't feel too long because of the chemistry between Léa Seydoux and Daniel Craig(even at times it felt a bit forced).Going in to this movie it was always going to be compared to Skyfall, which was amazing and going out of this film i wasn't as amazed, the plot was rather small compared to Skyfall making the risks not quite as big, which came off as a huge disappointment, but the film covered up with some one liner humour which the film pulled off so well and the action was okay not great but satisfying especially the car chase scenes which were awesome. Spectre was definitely not perfect, but i enjoyed this film, it tied up all of Daniel Craig's films neatly, came to a satisfying end, so overally not as great as Syfall but a good film in it's own right. It was only a matter of time for producers begin to realizeSince the first 007 film until San Mendes' "Spectre" have been impregnated its own original stamp but this does not mean that the James Bond's films The movies are only originality. It was only a matter of time for producers begin to realize imitations of successful franchises (Batman). The James Bond's last three films are based on these franchises full of cliches, explosions, love , good and evil , girls and more filler.

'Spectre' is completely original stunts and explosions, trains, planes, helicopters, Mexico, day of the death, the Bond girls , secrets , lifesavers, bombs, jokes, eccentric scenarios and the discovery of the author of all the suffering of agent 007.

If you love Skyfall and all the rest of the list, you will love the game of decisions and findings of 'Spectre'. The antagonists of this story is the familiar Franz Obenhauser come back to finish destroying the little life that has 007. (Remember that he is the author of all his suffering). His development in the movie is awesome, and can show us his real hatred against his half-brother. (even with a catastrophic scar in the eye)

Yes, undoubtedly, 'Spectre' was a great movie with scenes full of drama and action but gradually it decreases the level of film, evaporating our minds as 'Skyfall'.

Or Maybe the script is the real problem, the story is quite illogical and soft achieving confuse viewers too. The explosions , chases and shootouts won't fix a bad history.

Whatever the cause, "Spectre" is a movie where the media shows a completely different face to what really is it ( Like "Terminator Genisys", Remember). Nowadays, the media abuse their authority, they play with the minds of viewers with one purpose capture the attention through TV SPOTS, Teaser, Trailers, CLIPS, Featurette and more publicity.

It is almost unnecessary to mention that one of the strongest points of the movie is the fabulous theme song Sam Smith "Writing's On the Wall" which it was introduced in the movie to start. Personally , they presented the song in the film in a rather strange way (A brief explanation about the organization 'Spectre'). It was quite peculiar.

The character Moneypenny (Naomie Harris)is not very important in the movie but she helps Bond, is her function, Right?. The girls Bond (Monica Bellucci - Léa Seydoux) made their performances at high but definitely and obviously the face of the film is for Bond. Really, I do not know much about the old Bond films but Daniel Craig 'Spectre' made a fascinating characterization and without doubt is one of the best James Bond for his elegance , style , poise , joy , humor , hard work and all you have a great agent 007,

Even at a simple glance, the 'Spectre' Trailer makes promises it can not keep. The dark touch that gave Sam and Waltz is frightening, treating us to give the first Bond Horror movie.

But of course 'Spectre' falls short of trying to imitate the Nolan's classic. This movie was not entirely a lost opportunity, but really they did not avail all the privileges that have a Bond film .'Spectre' has beauty, class and all the weight of its predecessors (more than anything 'Skyfall'). James Bond is back for twenty fourth time , does not the best way but he returns, and yes:

Is it the fight scenes, the crafty villains, his style, or maybe just all of it combined? James Bond time means time to try new things in film, which is why even twenty-four films later, the story is still fresh and the character is still relevant. Spectre may be no different in terms of James Bond on a mission to stop a madman from destroying the world, but each film is different in the way it is shot, and each Director and actor brings their own take, style, and personality to the series. Spectre is a lot more audience friendly and lot easier to follow than many previous Bond films, but what made this one really special was the unique action sequences that I've never seen anywhere else. The balcony and helicopter scenes alone are enough to get any action junkies blood pumping. In film number twenty-four, James Bond is following up on the events in Skyfall, trying to find out who killed M. During his investigation he discovers something a lot bigger, an underground global terror network, that is responsible for many of the missions he's had to go on. Daniel Craig is of course fantastic and I still content that he is far and away the best Bond ever, but in this film, he meets a villain who may be one of the best villains ever. There is just something about Christoph Waltz that makes audiences hang on his every word. We first saw it in Inglorious Bastards six years ago, and since then he's only gotten better. The chemistry and friction between the two characters and the two actors trying to one up each other is nothing short of spectacular. While many fans of the series don't like how modern it's become, I feel as though the series is re-inventing itself with each film, and Spectre, is definitely among the most unique and special in the series. There are scenes that are everything Bond fans could wish for, and there are scenes that are borderline absurd. The most brilliant thing about Spectre is the pairing of Daniel Craig and the glamorous Léa Seydoux. Those two make a beautiful couple with the most intense romantic chemistry, and if Craig were not already married, one would swear that he fell in love on the set. Seydoux brings out the best in Craig.

Be that as it may, Spectre has glaring flaws. It would seem the producers, director, and writers had plenty of time to develop the script; nevertheless, the script is half-baked, and Craig does most of his acting during chase scenes and rescue scenes. His lines are terse and laconic, if not positively epigrammatic. Director Sam Mendes must have read the criticism about the female roles in Skyfall, because every Bond girl in Spectre (there are four of them!) is intelligent, fearless, and undeniably strong. Seydoux plays the main love interest in the role of Madeleine Swann, and although she fiercely denies being a damsel in distress, Bond has to rescue her at least three times (possibly four, if you count the train scene, where there is a question mark about who rescued whom). The first rescue scene in the Austrian Alps, where Swann is abducted by the bad guys, brings back the Bond of yore. Bond not only shows up on the tail of the bad guys who escape in their Range Rovers, but he is skillfully piloting a BN-2 Islander military plane commandeered on very short notice. Nothing in the script explains how he absconded so quickly with an airplane borrowed from the British Army. He simply shows up in the cockpit, and he proceeds to rescue Swann by crashing the plane. Unfortunately, it is precisely that kind of illogical plot with its preposterous premises that got Pierce Brosnan replaced by Craig in the Bond franchise.

Naomie Harris is back with a strong supporting role as Moneypenny. Ben Whishaw as Q has an improved persona, and he is no longer just the kid who still has “spots.” Ralph Fiennes continues as M, a role which he had just taken over at the end of Skyfall. He’s been rehearsing at home, it seems, because he has developed his M to perfection. Fiennes has turned M into a force to be reckoned with, at almost Oscar-level intensity and nearly out of place in a Bond film. We do not get to see enough of Monica Bellucci, now on record as the oldest Bond girl (age 50 at filming). She is dark, mysterious, and quintessentially beautiful, but her presence in Spectre is too brief. The fourth Bond girl is Stephanie Sigman, who hails from Mexico, and one suspects she nearly ended up on the cutting room floor. She shares an opening scene with Craig, who then leads her into a hotel room ostensibly to make love. Next thing she knows, he’s climbing out the window. She has one line for the entire film: “Where are you going?” And then she’s out. Christoph Waltz is not quite as evil as he was in Inglorious Bastards, but he gets scarier toward the end.

Mendes tries to pay homage to classic Bond, but his directorial heart is not in it. Bond mistakenly asks for a martini, shaken not stirred, at a health bar where he is instead served a green smoothie for vegans only. The classic Bond car shows up as a brand new Aston Martin DB10 intended for Agent 009, but Bond steals it and trashes the magnificent vehicle in a canal in Rome. When Bellucci’s character asks him his name, he doesn’t say it with his usual austerity because he is too busy kissing her, so he is still panting when he says, “Bond. James Bond.” Not the same effect.

Nevertheless, Craig is still handsome, dynamic, and charismatic. He’s good to go for another round, as long as he publicly apologizes for saying he would rather slit his wrists than play Bond again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have seen every 007 movie (I am 70+ so that is a lot of 007). Sean Connery is the best 007. He is a genuine Brit so he fit the part more than anyone else. Friends who saw Spectre all said they were disappointed.
On a scale of 1 - 10, I give Spectre a 3!
Why? It is too damn loud!
Too much blasting music even when someone is talking. The volume keeps increasing until the seats shake and earplugs are required.
All three theaters in The Villages, FL have the most up-to-date Dolbe sound systems. No other movie I have watched in The Villages theaters was like Spectre.
Spectre is in all 3 theaters. Now I know why there are a lot of empty seats.

That's the plot in short and the movie features a host of characters, as Bond works with Moneypenny, Q and M to hunt down Spectre. Is is good? Absolutely. Is it as good as Skyfall? I don't think so. But don't let that distract you from what is a wonderfully entertaining.

A lot of Skyfall's positives carry over, as this film's use of varying locales, densely packed shots and great sound make this film a joy for the senses. The main plot is personal and is cohesive and the film's best part is it's performances. Craig is as usual a joy to watch, with very suave one-liners and a great presence. Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Volde... I mean, Ralph Fiennes have more to do in this movie and are very good in the movie. The Animal Bat... Dave Bautista is very good as Mr Hinx, but my favourite performance goes to Lea Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann, the 'Bond girl' if you will. Her character is well developed and she adds humanity and bravery to the role. The movie will also satisfy fans of the previous Bonds with Craig as the film links back very well to events in Casino Royale, Skyfall and the other one sitting in the corner by itself (sorry). Another high point carried over from Skyfall is well helmed action sequences, including a fantastic car chase and train sequences, and these range from the very tense affairs to the bombastic. And for fans of classic bonds, there are a number of references to keep them entertained and some dialogue is written very well.

In terms of where this movie falls down, it's in the treatment of some other characters. Mainly, the villain is portrayed well by a brilliant actor in Christoph Waltz, but I wish the villain was more active in actually dealing with Bond. He is introduced very well at a great meeting scene, but I wish he actually was a bit physical as well as the psychological effect he has on Bond. The Joker was psychological to Batman, but actively took part in the action. Also, Monica Bellucci's character has a minor bit of development, but largely feels like a plot device by the end of the movie. And, as much as the supporting cast are fun, it felt slightly disappointing when we cut back to London to look at the developments concerning the politics. Whilst key to the plot, the Bond stuff was enthralling and was at times, sad when we had to see M sat in a bar with a glass of red.

Overall though, this movie is a lot of fun and is a Bond movie that will give you entertainment. That glass of vodka martini is half full with those movie, even if it could be a little more shaken.

Okay, so I will try to write a full review of this horrendous "Bond film" without giving any spoilers, but I doubt that you will want to watch this movie after reading this review.

First of all, the rating you will give to this film will change dramatically if you have seen the previous films of Sam Mendes & Daniel Craig, the perfect combination that bring the elegant, charismatic and cool yet fragile Bond to life. Spectre's Bond, however, does not display these qualities as much as the previous Bonds do.

Story: Right before I entered the cinema I read online that Pierce Brosnan, the previous Bond as you may know, says that Specte has a weak story and is too long. I sincerely hoped that he was solely jealous of Craig's brilliance on the role, but that was not the case. Not that Craig is anything short of great as James Bond, but Spectre actually does have quite a weak story and is unnecessarily long. Do not worry, I will not spoil anything but I will say this: the story is extremely shallow compared to Skyfall and Casino Royale, moreover gives absurd roles and qualities to iconic characters we are used to always see on screen with Bond. Also it leaves quite a lot, and by that I mean really a lot of plot holes behind to make you wonder if they actually deleted part of the script. Overall, story is one of the most important aspects of a Bond movie and it is mainly what makes CR and Skyfall great, while bringing Quantum of Solace and Spectre very much below the standard we expect from Sam Mendes.

Cinematography: Remember the "Take the bloody shot" sequence at the beginning of Skyfall that gave every one of goosebumps? What about the beautiful shot of Bond with colorful Chinese decoration that reminded us that films are forms of art? Yes? Well you get none of that in Spectre. Spectre is all about fast sequences with big explosions, cause who doesn't love explosions, right? I'd classify this movie as quick entertainment like "fast food", rather than a form of art.

Bond: As I said in the beginning, Spectre's Bond is like a Chinese replica: it tries to be elegant and cool but does not get it quite right. I totally agree with Brosnan in saying that Spectre is not Bond-ish, since THE factor that makes a Bond film a Bond film is James Bond himself. Bond strips himself from being a smart and wise MI6 agent who actually has reason behind his actions, while taking more of a mindless action-movie hero-role, making stupid decisions without thinking about consequences and creating dialogue that is nothing but a reason to display 2 characters together on-screen. I also mentioned that Bond was not at all invincible in previous movies, remember Casino Royale and the beginning of Skyfall. However, Spectre's Bond is a man that even Iron Man himself will be jealous of. You will see what I mean.

Supporting Cast: Supporting cast are just there to, as you may have guessed from their role, "support" Bond. Yep, that's it. They do not really have stories of their own, they are just there when need be and gone when Bond is to take the spotlight. Extremely shallow characters. We get no backstory on what happened to them, why they are doing what they are doing, and what they want from Bond.

That sums up my opinion on Spectre. I'd love to write even more but I have other stuff to do, unfortunately. I hope my review gave you another point of view, apart from all those 10/10 and 9/10 reviews which I'm sure have reasons of their own to give such high ratings.

I don't know about you, but I will reconsider twice, maybe thrice before watching the next Bond.

In that film, Bond had disobeyed orders and went about doing his own thing. He went from Place A to Place B and so on, following a trail, killing one person then another and another, found out one of MI5 employee is a double agent and he ultimately dies. Crucially, he saved a girl, not your typical 20th century dumb bond girl but a strong-willed girl who is out for revenge, he asked her if she knows what's it like to kill a person, they go into an seemingly empty desert, end up blowing up some villains' place, etc. Well, if you have seen that film, there's not really a point to see this one!

What an utter waste of $250m to repeat the same dull stuff again. If you need further proof of the laziness, two of the three writers of the Question of Sports have returned with copies of their previous script to do some minor editing and then submit as a new film!

Score: 3/5 (No half score) (Save your money and watch it on TV)

What made critics so enamored of Skyfall had a lot more to do with it's pretentious tone than anything. Spectre goes back to some of the classic goofiness that James Bond was traditionally known for - it aims to please the fan, rather than the critic. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. as a short film writer, here is how you know someone doesnt think their script is good. they force in jokes and comedy scenes that are unnecessary. this movie has a ton of those.

but anyway. Spectre is a sequel to 2012 amazing Skyfall. in this James Bond is hunting someone called Mr. White for some unexplained reason because M told him to in a recording.....

so Bond goes out after Mr. White who is sadely not the character from Breaking Bad cooking Meth in Mexico, but instead an idiot who fills his base with explosives, has eagle vision from Assassins creed, and always apears on screen ameraging through darkness (seriously check it). anyway Mr. White likes to make Bonds life shi* or something and decides to try and steal the 3rd Bond Chick in the movie.

but lets go back a bit. the Movie starts with AN AMAZING FIRST SCENE AND FIRST SHOT, SIMPLY AMAZING, IVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A SEEN SO EXPERTLY DONE. BRAVO. too bad that was the best scene in the movie. those were the positives, now back to the negatives or unexplanable.

so back to that first scene, Bond is chasing some guy in white to get his ring. after stealing said ring we are back at HQ which has changed positions to across the street while the old HQ that was blown up in Skyfall was busy getting hit by 5 nukes (seriously not that much time has passed for it to look like it was abandoned in the sevendies). anyhow there is trouble at HQ as this new guy 'C' wants to shut down the 00 agents just like in Mission Impossible Rogue Nation. anyway so bond goes to the guy who he killed in the first scenes funeral and nails his wife who was about to be assassinated for some reason.

we skip ahead a bit and bond has already banged Bond Chick No. 2 and met Bond Chick No. 3 who said that she would never sleep with him.

just for fun my friends and i made a bet on how long from that moment they would bang. it took 10 minutes.

lets forget the story for a bit. the visuals are great, not Skyfall Great but still great. the soundtrack by Sam Smith is unfitting and actually weird... the Actors do a steller job with their terrible script.

and lets talk about the script, its bad, and i mean real bad. it makes some sense but its generally very silly and feels like it shouldnt be for a Bond Film.

back to the actors, Christoph Waltz is in this movie and he is in it too little. like 4 scenes hes in the movie and he has a terrible script in all those parts. such a disappointment. for those who dont know who he is, he played the Main Bad Guy in Inglourious Basterds.

SUCH A DISAPPOINTING MOVIE!
you want a recommendations? watch Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, it has a similar Story but does almost everything WAY BETTER.

that movie is a 810

this is more of a 510

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The critic reviews are mostly on target for this film. Thanks to the inevitable comparison with its predecessor Skyfall, this one falls well short of expectations. Lets see how it fares VS Skyfall
1. Opening Scene: Skyfall was much better, intense, and believable. Here, the shots of helicopter spinning out of control gets repetitive and boring

2. Plot: Both movies have a good plot but Skyfall edges ahead because it maintains sense of threat and danger till the very end, while here the sense of threat and danger gets diluted when Bond enters villain's headquarters in Morocco. Thereafter, its all boloney.

3. BGM: Skyfall all the way...here the music feels rehashed from Skyfall in some scenes and in others, lacks the punch to create the sense of danger/thrill

4. Cinematography: Skyfall again....watching this film makes me realize why people were praising Skyfalls cinematography to no end. Roger Deakins, you're sorely missed.

5 Title Song: Adele all the way.....Sam Smith's song sounds like a lullaby in comparison. Also, the VFX in opening credits looks creepy with octopus sliding on the screen

6.Action: Skyfall again - here the action looks kind of convenient and stupid - specially the way in which Bond gets onto a plane to rescue Lea in Austria and his plane crashes exactly where the villains were driving. Also the climax where he's able to rescue Lea and drive out of MI6 in a boat within 2 minutes, then take out the villain by shooting his helicopter!! That was laughable :D

7. Villain: The villain in this film is supposed to be the boss of all past Bond villains and in his introduction scene he exudes a sense of dread and respect out of fear. But everything changes once we hear him talk to Bond at his headquarters in Morocco. One feels this guy has lost it! Inviting your enemy to your den, showing him around like a guided tour, and then getting blown away! How moronic.....there is no sense of threat or danger to Bond from this idiot! Even in the climax, he tries to get away from the blast site in a helicopter before getting shot down by Bond. Oh come on! How silly of the BIG BOSS OF ALL CRIMINALS to do something like this!

All in all, Spectre comes as a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT because of the amateurish and cliched writing in the second half, alongwith direction to show that stupidity on screen

With the daunting task of following ‘Skyfall’, a genre redefining Bond and the most successful British movie ever, producers have meticulously crafted a spy romp that ticks all the 007 boxes. From stunning locations in 5 different countries to spectacular action sequences, classic villains to tongue-in-cheek humour and sexy but substantial Bond ladies, ‘Spectre’ has everything you might expect from an James Bond film within a 21st century context.

‘Spectre’ also expands on the themes of cyberterrorism and the dangers of ubiquitous government surveillance established by its predecessor, while stretching out a fanciful mysterious storyline that weaves together the principal players in Daniel Craig’s Bond legacy so far.

So all the pieces you might expect or want from 007 are in place, and that’s the major problem with ‘Spectre’. If you constantly look for the same elements in every Bond film plus constant nods to the entire legacy, then you’ll love this film, as you should.

If however your expectations have been slightly warped by the bold and Bond-redefining ‘Skyfall’ then you might be disappointed here, it’s all a matter of perspective. For any modern Bond film there must be a balance between nostalgia and moving the character forward, ‘Skyfall’ struck that balance well and perhaps because of its success and the production issues with ‘Spectre’, producers have leaned heavily towards legacy here.

The film builds nicely but the final third descends heavily into archetype with story and characters you can see from a mile away, building up to a spectacular but predictable conclusion that’s ultimately underwhelming. Perhaps the most frustrating element of ‘Spectre’ is the criminal misuse of Christoph Waltz’s talents as a one-dimensional villain who’s familiar on way too many levels.

The Bottom Line…
While not the genre re-defining film that ‘Skyfall’ was and despite some disappointingly predictable elements, ‘Spectre’ has everything you might want from a 21st century Bond, grandiose while stylish, entertaining throughout and for us, it cements Daniel Craig as the greatest 007 thus far.

The action scenes are great even if a little ridiculous, the villain was good but he was very underused, but spectre the organisation itself was interesting. My biggest complaint was that the movie went for too long, it could have been much more interesting and tense if it was shorter, it also would have solved the problem that it started very slowly and took a while for things to get going.

You will enjoy spectre, will you love it? Maybe not, but it is good entertainment, there was no WOW moment or any stand out to remember, funny enough the best part of the movie was when i saw the Star Wars trailer before the movie.

There is a reason why Spectre would be the worst Bond movie I have ever seen. I was excited was 3 things which were never happened to this series before. Monica Bellucci, Lea Seydoux and ofcorse Skyfall.
There have been good Bond girls but never been such a magnificent, mysterious and furious combination. Where Bellucci has a cult following for being best Italian seductress, Seydous has been famous for her untamed method and flawless aura. But what a waste, none of the ladies were given the role to justify they hype they created with the casting. Seydoux’ character was the most confused in the film, one minute she is mourning her father and next she is flirting and seducing Bond. She very much reminds you of Olga Kurylenko from Quantum of Solace.
Enough with my outrage now little business. Opening sequence as well as background score was top notch so as Daniel Craige. The missing elements were the key one. Strong and focused story and powerful direction. Spectre had a strong structure, a childhood jealousy at a global level. But did they really have to mix it with Privacy Rights and internal failure of MI6? Especially if they were not good at handling it. Bond is known for perfection and skills but Spectre’s fight sequence leave too much on chance. Except the opening sequence and barehanded fight in train none of the action were impressive.
Finally, adding Bautista to the caste was such a bad decision. It is perhaps something they learned from Fast and Furious who added Dwayne Johnson few years ago. And Sam Mendes should be over with defaced antagonists. Perhaps he will then concentrate on what should go on in their minds.

It was all very underwhelming. I couldn't even tell you the film's climax because it just seemed like they were going through the motions and it just eventually ended. Its a classic cat and mouse chase and as usual the villain instead of just killing the protagonist, plays games with him and makes it possible for him to escape. There were a lot of spy movie cliches. Car chases, shootouts, fist fighting and he gets the girl. Its the same old routine. It was an entertaining movie but I wouldn't put it at the top of my list. The first two-thirds'Spectre' may be the most disappointing Bond film in a long time. It fails to match the drama and intensity of 'Skyfall' with horribly slow pacing, and entertaining, but ultimately useless, time-filling action sequences. The first two-thirds of the movie give you no clear indication of what threat the SPECTRE organization actually is, beyond being a secret organization, and by the time the audience is filled in, it feels too little too late. Bond's interactions with his cohorts, and attempts at humor, fall flat almost every time. Christolph Waltz is a wasted talent as the villain, almost like how Venom was jammed into the ending of Spider-Man 3. There are too many times that the movie breaks suspension of disbelief, with many characters surviving what should be clear deaths, and the plot twists near the end of the film can be seen coming a mile away. While the last act of the film had some engaging moments and interesting ideas, their value is undercut by the plodding pace of the first hour and half/two hours. It's just a shame that 'Skyfall' set such a high bar to reach, as 'Spectre' may have been a fine sequel to 'Casino Royale,' (definitely better than 'Quantum') but unfortunately the film crashes the Bond series back down to Earth. There's enough popcorn entertainment for those just sitting back to enjoy the ride, but not enough substance for those looking for real good value out of their high ticket prices. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie opens with Bond's solo mission hunting down Siaccra (the we found out that Siaccra is the last message of previous M) in the middle of "The Day of the Dead" parade of Mexico City. Bond's succesfully fullfiled this unofficial mission after a breathtaking chase and fight inside helicopter in the air killed all his enemies.Bond also manage to steal Sciarra ring with an octopuss logo.Bond got suspended for his action even though M realise that this unofficial mission prevent the mass bombing scenario. But,he is not stopping at all, this is only the beginning of his personal mission. Siaccra's death leads Bond to a gorgeous Italian widow Lucia Siaccra (Monica Belluci),and this gorgeous lonely that need a protector tips Bond about her late husband meeting point. And Bond didn't need waste time and direclty entered the meeting point easily and finally not just see the face of Spectre's leader but suprisingly this person has connection with Bond's childhood. Frankly i hope Spectre is going to be the greatest Bond ever made - better than Skyfall. But i must admit there are few things that i felt that should be explore. When the leader of Spectre revealed himself to Bond, that really shocked and i think scared the hell out Bond, is one of the best momentum. When this Spectre mysterious leader Ernst Stavro Bloveld enter the room, sudden this large meeting aula become so chill, filled with fear, we only hear his voice that gives the feel of terror. But this momentum didn't maintained well. I think the story should explore more "space" for psychological battle between Bond and Ernst (a.k.a Franz Oberhauser that believed is dead decades ago in an accident that also killed Franz father). In Skyfall audiens were showned the psychological condition between love and hatred of Raoul Silva (ex 00 agent went rough who seek revenge for being abandoned and left for dead after Raoul's personel mission almost jeoperdize the handover Hongkong to China back in 1997). Maybe that Sam Mendez already to tired to explore this psychological things.Or just wanna focus on Bond's mission that really wanna put his misery to an end, cause Ernst recognition that for this past few years Bond's misery for the lost all that he love so much and devoted to is taken away by Ernst all along behind his collaborator in crime. This is the most apparent weakness of this Spectre. Craig performance is great, he can easily combined the drama side of this Bond character. Monica Belluci short performance but still can steal a few moments. I also give credit to Ben Whisaw as Q. and off course Waltz performance is good but not as strong as Javier's performance as villain in Skyfall. But however the early of Waltz's character appear is the best highlight in Spectre. Expand

Filled with fun action, beautiful women, questionable choices by the main villain; it's really everything that we've learned to love about Bond. It brought back memories of Austin Powers and Dr. Evil toying with each other. "I'm going to leave them alone and not actually witness them dying. I'm just going to assume it all went to plan. What?" Sure there were some stolen plot lines from previous films from the genre, such as Mission Impossible. IMF and the double O programs are both being terminated, and we even had the beautiful Léa Seydoux in both franchises now.

Spectre is just a lot of fun, and while I will be the first one to admit it is not as well done as Skyfall, but I have to admit I enjoyed this one much more.

Nothing new, they again try to present Bond as traumatized by losing women. I also feel the love scene with the Bond girl was forced, since a human just died, they decide to "celebrate" it by having sex, wtf. I think the main problem was the weak villain, compared to Skyfall. They just seem to try to cash in on the success of Skyfall by trying to throw some of the same elements over and over without developing the characters, including the villains, further than in the previous movies, which is getting boring fast. Bellucci is utterly wasted, Bautista has a single word line, and Waltz is as excellent as he can be with what he's been given. The film opens with what I believe is one of the most well done sequences in any Bond film to date. The film never really captures the same level of quality, however there are several thrilling and tense sequences that help to ensure it is an enjoyable cinema experience. There are problems however, especially in the form of character development and the story. Whilst Lea Seydoux gives an impressive performance, and Ben Wishaw's portrayal of Q is further developed expertly, Christoph Waltz's role as the main villain is underwhelming in a narrative sense. The story, which is heavily harmed by the fact that Waltz is only present in the final act, seems to have run dry. It appears that Mendes as the director, and Daniel Craig as Bond have past their prime in bringing James Bond to screen. Nevertheless, Spectre acts as a good sendoff for both and is certainly a film worth watching in the cinema. Expand

The movie industry seems to be moving in that direction as movies this year are either sequels, adaptations or even remakes. These types of films shouldn’t be considered bad but they do remind the audience that Hollywood has simply run out of ideas. Spectre is a prime example of studio “giving up”. It seems to wander like a zombie in an industry plagued by repetitiveness.

Spectre not only destroys any hope for another great bond movie, but squanders what could have been a great send off for Daniel Craig. This train wreck completely ruins everything that the Craig era of Bond movies stand for, and it seamlessly tares down all of the great moments from the past films. This leaves us with a hollow shell of a movie about one of the most iconic characters in Hollywood.

Spectre is another Daniel Craig James Bond movie. Bond has just received a tape M left for him with simple instructions. To kill someone. This someone is the leader of the secret organization called Spectre. It’s an illicit organization does crimes to somewhat keep a balance in the world (reminds me of the Syndicate from almost every media). Bond has to go on another adventure that eventually links all of his past endeavors. They all link together somehow through this organization. Bond has to find out a way to stop this terrorist group before it’s too late.

The main problem with the film is the quite silly approach this time around. Skyfall succeeded mostly on a grim take that really allowed the audience to connect with the character. Craig doesn’t want to be Bond for a while, stating that the character has grown stale over the years. This is extremely true as we see a completely different character this time around. The screenwriters have resorted in giving us a bond that’s a cliché resemblance of the past.

To think of it as a whole, the movie is a cliché of the past. Instead of giving us a great plot with interesting characters, we’re treated with hollow characters, laughable dialogue, a cliché plot, a disappointing villain and many other atrocities.

Clichés are given to us on a silver platter which we’re supposed to swallow without saying a word. Though they’re extremely laughable in mostly every scene. There’s more than one part where the villain survives what should have been a killing blow. The audience watches as small little occurrences pop up that help drive the story along. At one point Bond so happens to wake up as a mouse in sitting the middle of the bedroom. Instead of shooting it, he lets it go back into its home in the wall. This allows bond to find a secret passage.

This lazy writing is just one of the many things the screenwriters do. Some blame has to fall on the director, Sam Mendes. The blend of old school bond and new school bond doesn’t mix at all. This allows for cheesiness into the film.

Casino Royale and Skyfall seemed to take themselves seriously enough not to have elaborate action sequences. The movie throws all that out of the window with actions scenes that seem to never end. A ten minute chase scene and then a ten minute fight scene. At one point bond is chasing a helicopter, with a boat and destroys it with his gun.

The movie isn’t all that bad though. The direction of the movie is very well done and the cinematography quite good. Although the actions scenes seem long and out of place, they’re very well-choreographed. Other than Lea Seydoux, the actors do a pretty great job. The portrayal of James Bond isn’t the best, but Craig tries his best with what he’s got.

Overall, Spectre could have been an amazing Bond film that really gave Craig a sendoff he deserves. However, it’s a movie bogged down by clichés that never seem to end. Ultimately this leads a movie that simply can’t be taken seriously. The connection to the last films is an interesting story, but it’s ultimately a cliché. Spectre is for those fans wanting to live the glory days of James bond films or can look past clichés that have plagued James Bonds films in the past. However, it could have done away with what’s ultimately the worst script in the series.

Why Monica Belucci is being intrduced as a main character is beyond me. The worst part is the ending, it should end with that final blast, Bond escaping on the boat and Blofeld flying away. That would salvage the whole movie, since as it is the ending just ruins the plot entirely. Expand

As a long time fan of the Bond films and books I can't quite understand how this film is scoring lower than Skyfall, which although is a great film itself, I thought Spectre was a better film. The whole movie has a sense of building mystery and tension and I was hooked from start to finish. Everything from the cast to the direction was bang on point. Special mention must go to the cinematography as this is a truly beautiful film to watch. This is both a modern and classic Bond film at the same time. Personally, I think Daniel Craig's run as Bond has been the best so far. His portrayal of Bond is by far the closest to how Ian Fleming originally wrote him (with Timothy Dalton a close second) and it is going to be a hard task for the producers to find an actor to fill his shoes. Although it has been stated that Spectre wraps up Craig's Bond series of films so far, I do hope that he returns for at least one more outing. If you are a fan of the Bond franchise I don't see how you would be disappointed with this film. If you're not a huge fan but are looking for a good action/spy movie then you'd be hard pressed to find a better example than Spectre. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. SPECTRE would be a good stand-alone movie. But since it was meant to tie with the previous 3 Bond films, then it is a poorly written one. Apart from Mr White, it is not clear as to how Vesper, Le Chiffre, Greene, Medrano and Silva are all connected to SPECTRE or Franz. This is Bond supposedly at his weakest, losing Vesper and (the previous) M and watching his former colleague (Silva) sold out MI6 information and still unable to get along with (the new) M, and the double-O program to be shut down yet when he meets Franz, there is no emotional connection at all? Here is a man, whose father once took Bond under his wings and both were supposedly dead 20 years ago, suddenly appears in front of him and Bond just runs? Bautista plays Mr Hinx, supposedly an assassin, yet the only person he kills is a "competitor"?! This is just lazy writing.

Everything went well at the beginning until the meeting scene. This is the part where they got it all wrong. Here is an organisation always in the shadows, yet exposes the main boss to Bond immediately? It should have been Franz talking all the way until he mentions Bond's name only for the latter to turn around and immediately gets knock-out cold by Mr Hinx. Sciarra's replacement need not be killed by Mr Hinx. In fact, he's got a better role to play. Then the next scene should be a torture-yet-reconciliation scene between Bond and Franz. This should be a 10-15 mins scene where Franz explains how he survive and how Le Chiffre, Greene, Medrano and Silva are all connected to him (without mentioning SPECTRE). Franz then stops Mr Hinx from kiling Bond (as it would hinder C in accomplishing the "Nine Eyes Project"). Now, instead of Bond being ahead of Mr Hinx, it is Mr Hinx always a step ahead. Mr White should not be committing suicide, it should be Mr Hinx killing him (for protecting someone / something). When Bond arrives at Altaussee, he finds White dead and searches his body only to find the old father-daughter photo. Bond then goes to the secret basement room downstairs. Snooping around, he finds a name card of a Dr Swan (not knowing she is the daughter of White). Bond leaves on the cable car, asking Q and/or Moneypenny to search on Dr Swan. He then notices someone who resembles (Sciarra's replacement) dropping by the mountain-top clinic. Bond follows him. So instead of having the interview scene, this immediately moves into the scene where Q surprises Bond with his visit and after that, the whole action scene.

Now that Dr Swan is rescued, the 3 meet at Q's hotel room to discuss the next course of action. Although Dr Swan reveals that the organisation is known as SPECTRE, she does not know its full name, its history and its members. She says her father wants her to know less about SPECTRE as it would endanger the family. She then mentions to go the L'Americain. Same scenes all the way until Bond finds the secret door. While snooping around, Mr Hinx suddenly appears and knocks Dr Swan out cold and holds her hostage and telling Bond to drop his gun. Bond is then knock-out cold. Bond wakes up finding himself in the place (where he was supposed to find). Franz greets Bond by telling him that Bond does not have to find him, because he can find Bond anytime, anywhere. Same scenes til the blow-up

The scene where Dr Swan gets kidnapped should have been where Bond, in the car with M, gets a picture of Dr Swan tied to a chair from an unknown sender. From the background, Bond deduces it is the old MI6 building. So no need for the "kidnap Bond" scene. M will just drop Bond there and head straight for C. Same scenes all the way until the bullet-proof glass. This is where the meeting with Franz via a huge monitor. Franz tells Bond that he spared his life in Rome yet Bond did this (the scars and losing one eye) to him. Franz then mentions he has Dr Swan held in the building and that there is a 3 mins time bomb to be activated. Mr Hinx appears to then push the trigger and waves goodbye. Bond runs all the way up. He looks around and hears sounds from behind a door. This is where the moment Bond opens the door, it is Mr Hinx who greets him! Mr Hinx then points Bond to the chopper that left and Bond realize that Dr Swan is in there. Both men fight all the way and with 5 secs left, both jumped off the building. Bond is then shown to leave on a speedboat chasing the chopper while Mr Hinx is then shown heading to his car. With C dead, M, Q and Moneypenny are interrogated over the hacking and stopping of the Nine Eyes Project without official approval and causing political outrage. Without Bond and/or sufficient evidence linking C to Franz or that SPECTRE exist, MI6 is now suspended and Bond is now a wanted fugitive-cum-terrorist.

No car-chase scene and no train-fight scene. This is how SPECTRE should have been. Shadowy organisation with a mysterious boss. SPECTRE 2 begins where Bond searches for Felix and Lucia to find Swan and Franz and gather info on SPECTRE and its history and activities.

All of the high points in the film for me came from when it was doing so. This film has car chases, gun fights. Ridiculously inappropriate uses of vehicles. And they were all very well done. The exotic locals were very exotic and picturesque. The villain's lair looked cool. Lots of very nice expensive looking cars too. But it was the gradual reveal of Spectre where the film was most interesting.
I should also say there were a couple of scenes which were just a bit too "campy bond." Maybe there's a deleted scene or two that was cut for time that fixes it. And there is one scene, where bond is captured and strapped to a chair. If you've ever seen the film Brazil, it'll have you wondering.
Overall I'd rate this film 2nd after Casino Royal in the 4 bond films Danial Craig has starred in. Good show.

I liked that Bond, even in the face of his doom, was unwavering in his quest in this film. The film peers a little more into Bond's upbringing and factors of his pre secret agent past. Much like some of the earlier Bonds (Roger Moore, Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan) there were always some silly moments for comical relief. They had removed most of those from the Daniel Craig era, but have brought some of that back in this film which I liked. The movie still maintains the adrenaline of high stakes situations by displaying the brutal possibilities James could face. I found the film to be suave and entertaining, however I will deduct a couple of points for a few times when things were a little too convenient to be realistic, but not deal-breakers by any means. Go see this for sure if you are a Bond fan! Expand

The story starts off at Day of the Dead parade in Mexico, which is beautifully shot and the impressive cinematography remains till the end thanks to cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema and editor Lee Smith, who both served Christopher Nolan's Interstellar previously. Director Sam Mendes and three screenwriters did a great job for Skyfall, but Spectre which appears as Part II of Skyfall proves that their repeat collaboration is lacking fresh ideas in which the whole structure of the plot, not only slightly overlong but also exactly similar to Skyfall. Daniel Craig still looks awesome as James Bond, the potential of Christoph Waltz as the villain is let down by limited appearance while the chemistry between Bond's girl Léa Seydoux is slightly awkwardly developed. The scores from Thomas Newman are great, the theme song "Writing's on the Wall" by Sam Smith which sneaks at the very beginning is solid but generates underwhelming feel if compared to "Skyfall". Overall, Spectre is still an entertaining and visually engaging spy action flick even if the rushing production may have dragged a lot at plot wise. Expand
