There were clues, but I still liked how it turned the tables on me.
It certainly doesn't do much with its plot, but it's perfectly understandable why and those are points in favor of the film as a whole, because it doesn't needlessly drag out

It certainly doesn't do much with its plot, but it's perfectly understandable why and those are points in favor of the film as a whole, because it doesn't needlessly drag out its stay.

Significant Other delivers 80 tense and entertaining minutes, direct and to the point.

First half drags a bit but there's a neat twist about halfway through and then you're in for a hell of a ride until the final credits. Better than i expected for sure.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I went through most of this movie thinking it was really good. The whole "oh it's him, not her" moment was a nice surprise. A part of me really liked her using the shark as a weapon, the other part thought it was a little silly.
But where the movie lost me was right at the end. I mean come on, defeated by the suggestion of anxiety. That was just plain stupid and basically ruined the whole thing.

If the level of the Paramount+ offer is this one, there is no good news. A delusional sci-fy movie in which the protagonist girl spends time trying to kill the alien boyfriend even though she discovers from the first attempt that he is indestructible. If you are looking for something original or simply with a little more logic, turn elsewhere.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Solid and well-made science fiction horror, which convinces with a good acting performance of the two main protagonists (Maika Monroe and Jake Lacy) and with a calm camera work. Especially the wide landscape shots are impressive. CGI's are in the upper range and don't disappoint. Furthermore, the surprising twists carry the story and keep the suspense high. Expand
