WHERE?!. The movie doesn't even have a good soundtrack. It is garbage and any people should avoid to see this **** its a waste of time and money, doesnt even worth the megabits to see it online. This kind of movie for a franchise like resident evil (the games, not the movies) it should be a crime. We have never seen a more unwatchable movie in our entire lives. I don't understand why directors choose to hide all the action behind shaky camerawork and shots that are way too tight during a fight scene. To top it off, if that wasn't bad enough, they had the bright idea of doing these speed-cuts back and forth during every action scene that were practically seizure inducing!

The other RE movies were always kind of a guilty pleasure as they were fun to watch, even if they were bad, but this one was nothing like the others. It was just plain bad with no redeeming qualities whatsoever! Paul W. S. Anderson should be thrown in jail for making such terrible directing choices.

This movie wasn't that great I think it was the worst film in the franchise. The commercials on tv showed the best parts but hid the rest of the terrible parts of the film.

Undeniably the worst entry in the franchise, a messy blur that trips over itself over and over and over again. Wesker is reduced to a bit-part cameo while anything remotely resembling a meaningful narrative is quickly forgotten, much like the rest of the franchise.

Take care when exploring online reviews. Anything overwhelmingly positive should be taken with a large dose of sarcasm. The movie is terrible, for fans and neutrals a alike.

Puke of a movie. This movie had just one single aim - to finish RE franchise. Honestly, I dont get it - why director did it - could he left the franchise without this end? Just to make something to put a dot? I dont get it.

IThe film felt lazy to me and ive only watched RE: Afterlife, maybe people with the detailed story background will appreciate this more. Ruby Rose is underused, she has even less screentime in here than in xXx: The return of Xander Cage. I counted 8 jump scares in the first 20 minutes and everytime they cranked up the volume to the max. CGI was mostly fine mixed with some really bad ones and 3D isnt great. 50% of the dialogue is them repeating what you literally just watched and the synchro is one of the worst ive heard.
The editor went full Michael J. Fox and copied the Taken 3 cuts, you barely can see a thing.
The few positive things about RE: The Final Chapter are the overall visual style, the dystopian setting, the design of some cretaures and a handful of fun Action moments

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Worst movie in the series. I'm a big fan of the games, and I mostly liked the films also even the weaker ones were OK. But this one is not making any sense, and the worst part that it's trying. There are many conradiction in the film. No explanation to the disappearance of many main character.. They made the f***ing team Avengers of the Resident Evil in the previous movie than BOOM there is only the Captain left in the next one, oh and somewhere joined her post apocalypic BFF who suddenly don't even give a f*** about she had a brother. Wesker lost his power. He had god mode on in previous movies and now a door kill him. WTF?! Even the story not fitting. The virus developer character changed the reason stayed the same sort of. Wesker was a bad guy than a good one and again bad. Explanaton the rescue was a trap, why not left Alice rot in the base or kill her in stasis. He gave back her powers we saw it, than he says he didn't.
If we don't count the technical mistakes, editing, cutting etc. it could be an OK film just not as a sequel to the series rather than a spin-off story or alternative reality where everything happend differently.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie was extremely poor, i actually liked the others in the series but this was so hard to watch, shaky camera's during every action scene, makes you wish they will just stand around and talk more plot destroying **** What on Earth was Paul W.S Anderson smoking when he wrote and directed this movie, i felt embarrassed for the people in the credits for putting their name to this piece of **** Apparently the whole story, the five sequels could have been avoided if Alice just dropped the vile of anti-virus outside in the air instead of trying to inject matt because apparently that's enough to cover the whole world and destroy the t-virus and all mutations. I still can't figure out why the last movies ending was completely skipped over, maybe because it would have actually been entertaining, not mentioned at all really, cornered outnumbered ready for the last stand, next movie Alice just wandering around walking in on a bunch of tv screens that the red queen takes over to give Alice the answers to everything so stupid right at the start.

The plot line i followed seem to suggested the umbrella corporation planned the outbreak to exterminate the entire population and to rebuild with their own people who are in cryosleep inside the hive. They pretty much already succeeded with only like a thousand or so people left on the planet yet they are still trying to stop Alice like it even mattered anymore. The movie conflicts with the previous plot lines in its own series for no good reason, complete lack of ideas maybe. The outbreak was an accident, they even tried to cover it up with bombing Raccoon City, it was in the previous movies. The creation of the t-virus was an accident created by Dr. Charles Ashford to cure his daughter of a disease, then in this movie it was created by Dr. James Marcus to cure his daughter from a different disease.
It's like they want to reboot their series because they don't like how they did it now.
Resident Evil needs a new writer and director.

This movie failed in the actions scenes where you don't see anything that's happening the plot was given away at the start wasn't surprised by the "plot twists" so many poor choices were made in this film, can't believe the same people made this.

It's good they called it the final chapter because they have finally killed the series.

Expand

This film is an absolute abomination even in the category of sequels. They didn't even try to make it look good.
The 3d was nonexistent, the picture quality was grainy and out of focus much of the time.
They should think up a new name for 'shaky cam' to describe the action as well as it was beyond shaky. It was all filmed in closeup with shaky cam and cuts so fast it almost was subliminal.
You couldn't tell what was going on much of the time.
The plot and storyline were limited to the group's simple objective that really didn't make much sense and they just started with one big chase scene after another .
Every action set piece was the equivalent of most films' final action scenes with no character development in between.
Mila Jovovich gritted her teeth and just dutifully rasped her cliche ridden lame lines as did the other carboard cutout characters.
Alice was immediately in charge of her group and ordered them around like she was directing the movie on the fly herself. The film is really visually dark and on the whole gives the impression that it was 99 percent cgi and 1 percent real people so it can't have cost much to make.
A really sad non-effort here.

I wasn't expecting much, but I still left disappointed.

After the first minutes I simply wanted to leave the cinema. The movie starts with the jump scare. The screen start's shaking, we have cuts every 1-2 seconds, making it extremely difficult to figure out, what is actually happenning and the sound levels are just absurd. Unfortunatelly, that turns out to be the theme of all of the jump scares (and there is plenty of them), and most action scenes.
We have some glimpses of the story here and there, but nothing significant untill the end of the movie. Characters are extremly bland, and all the new ones simply serve as cannon fodder. Gore is all over the place, to the point where it looks more silly than scary or disguisting. To make everything worse, the movie ends with a scene, that suggests that we might get another sequel.

The Final Chapter isn't satisfying as the grand finale of the series, disappoints as the action movie and is simply inferior to the previous parts. Major disappointment.

This is definitely the worst of the bunch. Completely uninspired, lazy story, ridiculous action scenes, excessively shaky camera work (cameramen must've had far too many espressos), and its complete lack of character building ruined the film. Not to spoil anything but there's a scene with a specific character that completely ruined their otherwise perfect portrayal throughout the franchise. What a complete letdown. And it's a total shame because the last film ended in such a cool way but this one completely ignored that film and basically played a game of "let's tie up all the loose ends, even if it completely conflicts with everything we've shown the audience so far." Garbage movie, through and through. Expand

I love the video games, even the plot, which has kind of gotten a bit out of hand at this point is still somewhat enjoyable to me. But the films, oh my god, the films are pretty bad. I could go into detail about what is wrong with all of these films, but I really don’t have the time and I would have to devote a whole other document to it!!! Let’s just say, these films punish you for remembering anything and punish you for having any knowledge of the games. Paul Anderson has basically used these films as a excuse to show off his wife Milla Jovovich in the lead role, who is a complete ‘Mary Sue’ of a character, who can do no wrong and kicks ass without flinching! For goodness sake, I may say every time that there is no way these films can get worse, but somehow it always manages to be the case and this one is the worst to date. Put it this way, if this is not in my ‘Worst Films of 2017 list’ I will have to declare it as being a terrible year for cinema. Do you know how long it took me for this film to p… me off, 1 minute 30 seconds!!! I counted, within a minute and a half they managed to retcon almost half of the series. Half of what had been established was gone and replaced by something else. It’s like they can’t make up their minds what they want to do. I will give the other films credit that at least some of the action was decently shot, but man, the action in this film is almost impossible to see, it’s terribly made, the plot is more asinine than usual and has several signposted twists that make absolutely no sense and actually raise more questions than answers and despite the fact that this is labelled as the final chapter, there is really no finality to the film. Oh, and there’s a million plot holes that were so big the Titanic could fit in them. This is a mess of a movie series and this is the worst one to date. I can’t go into everything I hate about the film because I would have to spoil it rotten and some poor souls will be like me and actually want to see the film, so I had better leave it to them, but trust me, I am so glad this film series is over. Screw these movies and screw Paul W S Anderson. Not only did he manage to ruin the possibility of a good Alien versus Predator movie, but he also managed to screw over the Resident Evil series for six movies. I saw it in 2D, for the love of god, do not see this movie in 3D. Some of the scenes are too dark, I imagine it would be literally impossible to see if you are wearing 3D glasses. Expand

Worst movie of the franchise and one of the very few times in my whole life I've ever walked out of a movie I got to watch for free.
I actually wanted to walk out after the intro where they REWROTE THE WHOLE STORY. That's right, this movie ignores the whole plot set by all the other RE movies in order to shoehorn a new plot that's even crappier.
I pushed myself to watch the whole first 30 minutes (I set my watch so) just to give face to the guys who were with me. Turns out we were all dying to get out of there.

I didn't pay for this and I want my 30 minutes back.
The best thing about this travesty? Everyone who ever collaborated to this movie need not worry about any zombies eating their brains. They have none.

But (you knew there would be a 'but' right??) I will warn you there is something about this movie that will drive you nuts, it did it to me and it is why I can only go for a 6 rating. During any action sequence the camera shakes violently and the film is edited into 1/2 second long clips. I promise you that is not an exaggeration. It made my eyes hurt at times to watch it, because you try to focus on something and you can't, it is just there and gone too fast. Other films have done this in the past, and it is an attempt to make the action seem more frantic, but for me it is just tiring to watch. If you like this kind of movie it is worth seeing, if you are on the fence maybe see something else. I give it my "Barely" popcorn worthy rating. Expand

This movie is incredible, the end left a little to be desired but the whole desert of the movie was fantastic. However, the state of exception is the state of participation of former actors who were in the saga.

It is, by far, the most visionary piece of art ever brought to the big screen. Need I say more? I would have given my left butt cheek to have been a part of this historic, bar-setting classic. There is simply no arguing against how revolutionary this movie is in pretty much every way imaginable. We have all grown to love the girl we call Alice (although if you're like me, I prefer to call her Ally). But Resident Evil: The Final Chapter shows us a side of Alice (Ally) that even I haven't imagined in my WILDEST dreams, and trust me, they can get pretty wild ;).

I would suggest this masterpiece to any and all who would listen. Don't listen to the critics. Critics are spoiled babies who don't contribute anything to the world besides their negative vibe. I like to imagine some naysayer meeting one of Alice's roundhouse kicks to the face. See what they have to say then. Loved this movie and so will you!

This horror-action series loosely based on the video game series has been going on for quite a while. While never fairing very well with professional critics, the movies have garnered enough a following to have even influenced the tone of the games they are based to more action-oriented affairs. When it comes to horror-action the Rasident Evil movies have always leaned more towards the action side of the equation. This one remains no different.

It does try to latch on to some of those stronger horror elements the first movie had, but they mostly come in the form of halfhearted jump scares that miss their mark. When it comes to the action though this is one of the more exciting movies in the series. Paul W.S. Anderson decides to end his series with a bang. The results are some of his most exciting action scenes yet. Well-choreographed fights, gorgeous explosives, and entertaining set-pieces carry the film where it's plot and characters fall.

The story has never really been of much consequence in these movies. Any sense of continuity between films is minimal at best as characters (usually from the games) come and go without any explanation leaving viewers wondering just what the heck happened to them. The series plot is a mess of nonsensicalities, randomness, and all around disjointedness. No, this series is all about the fights and how awesome Milla Jovovich is. I will say that this films plot is much better than the others. Sure, the conclusion relies on a magical cure all to fix everything, but it's self-contained nature is a big strength. Even if the big twists are obvious and Anderson seems to have no idea how the airborne in airborne antivirus works.

I have to praise the return of the post-apocalyptic setting from Extinction and Afterlife. Not only were those two particular highlights of the series, but it reminds us that these movies are connected to each other in more than just sharing the same main character. No, the movie is not high-art, but it is fun. Well-executed fun that delivers on just what fans of the series want.

Poubelle !

Time to bring down the remaining of Umb Corp.

The series never meant to be story based. Well, at the first it was fine, but then it turned out be more a video game style than the normal commercial films. So if you are going to watch it, your expectation from it should be the action-adventures. Of course, nothing happens without a reason, that's where the story was born. This is the sixth film in the series and they are saying it is the final, but have to wait and see in a couple of years, whether another film will be made or they are going for television as hinted out.

The main character is long dead, that's what they say to us every time. And then a new sequel with the same character and their explanation is, clone. That's seems okay, but that being a regular thing is what annoying. This film is enjoyable, like I say, watching a game played by someone sitting next to us. But not the best of the series or the year, nor its kind. Just to enjoy the action sequences. All the top, knowing about Olivia Jackson made me almost to cry. She's the real hero, hats off.

As I said, the film was not necessary if you go by the story. It was just another mission, a fight to bring down the last remaining Umbrella Corp and possibly to reveal more secrets about it and everything so far happened. I always wondered how this franchise survived this long. Yeah, every time a decent box office pushed the filmmakers and actors to go for another one. The film's main ingredient, graphics were acceptable, and performances too. So, it is only for the selected audience, but you can ignore it if you are not that interested in it.

Great action and horror elements with a bad story. Be warned here especially some parts or reveals have angered many fans. The scheming and plots of the bad guys are also poorly thought out. I must admit that some ideas and twist are good. Also the action and fight scenes are worthwhile. The final rating depends mainly on what you have expected. I like much here but hate the way it was done. Like getting a great meal at a restaurant but notice later on that the employees get less than minimal wages would be an understandable comparison. For itself the actors and director tried their best and I think with the budget it is a relatively well done job. The acting is as always good (enough) for this kind of movie or genre. Milla Jovovich is perfect for the role. Again I like Shawn Roberts as Albert Wesker. The return of some characters is welcome but decreases the impact from the prequels. The special effects are again really good especially for the budget. But I am only wasting time. Overall this is more of the same in a positive and a negative manner. A satisfying conclusion for some but for me it is a hit and miss. I think I will give it a pass and a 5/10. Expand

Where to begin ? **** action scene :

They try to create the illusion that a lot is happening by cutting and chasing way too much during hand to hand combats.

**** dialogs : Even the actors seeems disapointed and ashamed of themselves when they speak, you litterally feel them wanting to rolls their eyes as they say it, then you wish they would stop talking.

The cgi is good but does nothing to help the movie. The story always goes the easy way : Bad guy is "dead", Alice doesn't really check. "Dead" guy comes back (no explanation as of how, at all) and is stronger / faster (again, no explanation whatsoever).

Oh and of course, there's a traitor in the group. Finally, you learn that umbrella corporation wanted to "expunge" the world of the weaks and let a purged world rise with superior human being. As if any corporation would want that. It is just completely sad how the whole series massacred and destroyed the original ideas of resident evil. I wish they never had turned the video games into movies.

This one is no exception. With the premise and promise that this one would be the last chapter and resolve all the questions and plot holes and points that are pending after so many movies, the expectation is "high"; and what do we get? Mor of the same, with Alice continuing to be god and saving the sinner humans from their fate buy evil umbrella who at this point is more of a bad Final Fantasy villains than a corporation. I'm not saying that the games have a lot more sense or realism, but at least they are fun (mostly). Anyway, with a few cool stunts and CGI, and some funny and cool lines, but no kind of real conclusion or story truly planned, this feels like the rest of the franchise, a bunch of movies that had no real plan but they kind of invented and added more plot points as they went. Not truly recommeded unless you are a huge fan of this series. For anyone else, there are better action and zombie movies. This was truly the last chapter of a truly bleh series (or is it?!!!). It's still enjoyable but more on par with the other sequels just a little more amped up action wise. Jovovich returns for the final time as Alice and this time she's racing against time to try and release the antidote to the T Virus to save the last remaining pockets of human resistance. To do this she must travel back to where it all started in the Umbrella facility. Along the way she picks up a new bunch of victims and faces a whole bunch of new and old horrors. The movie is super action packed, it's a bit too much at times. The twists are intriguing and if the film had ended with the first epic finale it would have been a great send off for the series. That being said it's big, dumb fun and is a satisfying if somewhat expected send off to my beloved franchise.

What I really love (and this isn't a spoiler since its in the previews) is that it comes back to Raccoon City.

Don't get me wrong, it won't be winning any sort of acting awards, the writing isn't Oscar worthy and the special effects are lagging behind. However, even with all of that it was the most cohesive chapter of the series to date.

We originally saw the original Resident Evil when it first came out, since then, barring a single movie, we have seen them all in the theater. Much like the Underworld series, it is just a thing we do.

I was surprised at how well everyone looks (especially Milla) after so many movies and so many years. However, like Kate Beckinsale she probably doesn't have a lot more time in that she could do this movie and supposedly be the same character at the same age.

Out of all of these movies, this definitely had the most cohesive plot. The wrapped up several strings, and even brought in some new things that were maybe a little obvious but they worked well with it. Contrary to some of the movies in the middle though it kept my attention, and entertained us. We were a bit sad to see it wrapping up, it rests up there as a tie for second place for my favorite RE movie (no matter what I do, the original RE always keeps its spot).

Pros: Cohesive storyline, not bad acting, and a satisfying conclusion.

Cons: For a B grade theater movie there really isn't any big cons except this is the final chapter.

Final words, definitely go see it in the theater.

First, the movie completely contrasted to the plot of previous movies including the umbrella’s intention in developing the virus and their goal to develop a cure after outbreak;Second,Wesker somehow became as weak and dump as an ordinary umbrella solider and was killed by a door;Third, why did Red Queen help Alice when she was always trying to murder her in the fifth;Fourth, why did umbrella high command keep arguing about corporate powers even after the world’s extinction with just 4000 people left? Why wouldnt the doctor eliminate Alice and her original form when he had every chance to do so and why didn't he forecast that his clone would attempt to rebel against him?Fifth, why does the director dont give a s**t about the characters that appeared in the fifth and finish them off by just a sentence of his wife? Finally, why was the camera keep shaking?????
The whole movie is an absolute disgrace to every fan of Resident Evil,3 fan points
