Wow, the f**king idiotic critics litterely hating on the movie just because it was made for kids instead of 40 year old critics. This is a fantastic movie based on a fantastic game series. Just ignore the dumb critics.

Ratchet and Clank is the movie adaptation of the popular Playstation game of the same title. Is this movie as bad as critics are saying? No, but that doesn't make it good, either. The movie offers very little to be entertaining; the jokes aren't funny, the story is bland, and the action is non-existent. As a game, it's fantastic fun, but as a movie, it's just plain boring and dull. Granted, the animation was done well, and voice acting was on point. Plus, it's very loyal to the games, having stupidly named and fun weapons, a few easter eggs paying homage to other Playstation titles, and overall pleasing fanservice. In conclusion, Ratchet and Clank doesn't have anything to hate, but it doesn't have anything to love, either. If the movie looks interesting to you, check it out and see what you think. If you're not interested at all, don't waste your time, because while this movie isn't bad by any means, it isn't that great, either.

Ratchet and Clank gets a 5/10.

The Story of Two fellas going around other planets to stop the villains from taking over the galaxy is a interesting story and all i get is Hashtags and Selfies. The Galactic rangers are **** and are made out of 4 People instead of a small army like in Ratchet and clank up your arsenal. I was so Hyped and exited from the movie to come out and when i saw it i was disapointed that it turned out that bad. I mean a Great video game With a great Story ends up being ****. i'm a Real Ratchet and clank Fan and i played the original trilogy as so the Future series. So i know much about the games the characters and the story. This movie just **** it up Expand

The humour was pretty good and the game references were outstanding but the plot just didn't meet the quality i expected from an Insomniac-related product. The lip syncing was distractingly bad in places, something that really shouldn't be an issue in modern movies.

Having Dr Nefarious appear as an alien instead of a robot was a great idea though, he was incredibly well animated with amazing facial expressions and it gave him a bit more of a backstory than "robot wants to make everyone robots" that you get in the games.

I just spent most of the movie sat there waiting for the suspense/tension to kick in and it was never there. The plot felt like it dragged on for way too long and the one time that people were genuinely in peril, we knew nothing about them other than "they exist" so it was hard to have any sort of emotional connection

You don't get much of a sense of this from the game (Which in itself, is written adequately) but the movie is scattered with disjointed scenes, a juvenille sense of humour and progression as is overall a fairly amateur effort. Whoever wrote the films plot is clearly not an expert - not even close. As much as I wanted to love this movie (as I love Ratchet and Clank) it's just not a great effort - all the money was directed towards the visuals and the budgeters are thinking 'It's a remake! So, going into this, I had no idea what to expect, but I was a bit surprised honestly. The film has quite a bit going for it, thanks to the gorgeous animation, solid voice work, occasionally clever jokes (and nice PlayStation easter eggs), fun-enough action, and especially the faithfulness to the source games. Sure, the movie does "kid-ify" things just a little bit with some juvenile humor and a rather basic, cliché story, but overall, "Ratchet & Clank" is a fun enough film and it's definitely better than you'd expect a video game-based film to be. It won't win awards for originality or reinvent the wheel, but it's an entertaining watch for children and fans of the franchise. Expand

I have to say that the Ratchet and Clank film is bad, and I say that even though I have played and adored the original trilogy of the PS2 games.

The movie didn't capture the essence of the Ratchet and Clank games series, which is about having fun with otherworldly weapons and platforming acrobatics while trying to save the Galaxy from some evil baddies. The film makes almost nothing of the Ratchet/Clank comical interactions.

The filmmakers just tried to make a cashgrab of a movie thanks to the remake of the 1st game which launched on PS4 along with the film, with a low badget and (more importantly) much less effort put into the script. Even if you see it as a kids' comedy it isn't that fun either, with the latest mediocre Ice Age films being more fun than this.

Great CGI graphics, but sadly the movie is really bad. Not trash bad, but still a big disappointment. No wonder why the Sly Cooper movie has disappeared from everywhere and it will likely never be made. Sony did a poor job and hurt their Ratchet and Clank IP.

It does have some good qualities however which the critical reviews seem to have disregarded; the animations and colours are very appealing, with heaps of imagination that will be to the liking of younger viewers. The characters themselves are good enough, with an interesting villain and a substantial threat. The stakes do feel high and the film succeeds in this sense. It has the feel and look of the video games it's based on.

It is very flawed though. For a film called 'Ratchet and Clank', from a game series that is about these two characters, there seems to be very little that makes you feel they have a deep, solid friendship. They meet as Crash lands on Ratchet's home planet, they become 'Rangers', and from there on the two don't seem to really be around each other much. Because of this, the ending between them feels out of place - it didn't seem like these two were really all that close. In addition, it's a cluttered and break-neck paced film that at times feels a little like an assault on the senses. There is non stop action, without many breaks, and it could have done with some slower moments and character development. I understand it's meant to have an intense feel, much like the games, but constant explosions, guns and enemies doesn't work nearly as well in a film.

Overall, it's just a standard children's movie. The story is relatively unoriginal, the pacing is rapid, but there are nice visuals and some fun moments. It was reviewed too harshly by critics, but it's certainly not a standout picture.

This is the first time I've ever seen a video game based movie that actually stayed true to it's intended story.
Many great games have become terrible when converted to movies, and the same goes the other way around.

What Ratchet & Clank the reboot and the movie do very well is the fact that they complete each other.
This might not seem a hard thing to pull off, but in my opinion it actually is. Because no one wants to see a "recycled" story,
the filmproducers often seem to think. Kevin Munroe does what I think many gamers have always wanted, and that is to make a
video game based movie that resembles the actual game!

On with the review...
First off we have to ask ourselves, what is this movie and who is it's intended audience?
Clearly this movie is a tribute to the series as a whole, and according to my opinion, the majority of the intended audience is actually
us, the gamers. You could argue it's a kids movie, which it is to some extent. Though, who would find this movie funnier and more enjoyable,
a 25-year old Ratchet & Clank-nerd like myself or a 7-year old who knows nothing about the series recurring gags and "Simpsons styled comedy"?
Statement: This movie is mostly a hardcore fan service, which is noble, but backfires since the general population and "critics" don't understand it
and thus hate on it.

Is it a great movie? No. Does it have plot holes? Yes. Do we care? No. Why? Because it's Ratchet & Clank, we love to enjoy this duo in action
and all other weirdos that seem to populate the Solana Galaxy.
Storywise it's smart in the way that it gives us some explanation to the storyline in the game, not to say the least
it explains Qwarks actions. Which is in itself a tribute to the first Ratchet & Clank game from 2003.
Sure, the story is an utter cliché, but that's more to make it easier to digest for newcomers I think.
The drawbacks are the fact that it lacks in action, sure I absolutely love the fact that they present and use many of the cool weapons and gadgets
that were in the actual game, but as a gamer I'd like a scene that resembles the one in Doom (the movie) where we see some "gameplay".
Because we all know, Ratchet does not just land on site and strolls to the control room without some heavy resistence along the way.
I'd like to get to know the characters better though, it seems that Drek, Nefarious, The Rangers are just thrown in there, withouth any backstory.
The same goes for the "citizens" in Aleero city, at times it feels empty and shallow, and the only one we actually feel is with us at all times
is Ratchet, and that can get lonesome. Even Clank has pretty little screen time. And I can't describe any of the Rangers' personality,
because we never get to know them. I know Drek and Nefarious, but that's thanks to the games, not the movie.
However Qwark gets a pretty good introduction, thanks to Jim Wards marvelous voice acting.

The soundtrack, well... it didn't impress me at all, If I need to find it by myself after searching online to get it to reach out to me,
then it failed in the movie.
The voiceacting I feel was marvelous, with many originals thrown in there, feels comfy.
Many jokes were hilarious, no to mention the Wilhelm scream awareness, the robots' lactose intolerance, and overall the crew ignoring Elaris and Clank.
Graphics were amazing, too little down time on the planets though, and I'd love to see more of the in-game planets.

I give this movie a 6/10 because: It absolutely is watchable and rewatchable if you, like me, are biased, which you should be since it's
our childhood heroes' story brought back to life and not a cheesy blockbuster. I had my share of laughs and reminiscing moments in the movie which is
more than enough reasons why you should give it a shot if you at all dig the games.
I would have given it higher, but the story doesn't do well on it's own, and nor does the character introductions, or any real action in the movie.
I can't give it any less, because that would imply that it is barely watchable (i.e. a 5/10).
Oh... and unfortunaely, they never "kick some asteroid"... spoilers.

An 'animated' video game movie. You would think that issues with adaption would be far less of a problem. You would be wrong. This movie is terrible. And it had no right to be.

For starters, this is meant to be an adaption of how Ratchet and Clank meet and their adventures in the first game. The story of the first game is quirky and full of colorful characters but a bit unconventional. Despite this, Ratchet's motivations are clear and strong enough to carry the story. He's just a furry Luke Skywalker. He's also a bit of a jerk. This awful movie decided it'd be better if Ratchet's motivation are "I WANNA BE A SPACE RANGER!" With so much childish zeal he would make Ash Ketchum flinch. Also, to make Ratchet more marketable to all the little babies, they change him from a rude, greedy, space redneck into a cute and loveable teddy bear with wide sparkling naive eyes.

Clank is...well he is Clank. The problem is this movie just ignores him almost completely. He's stuck in an office for almost 2/3rds of the movie and its kind of insulting when he makes up half of the title. Hardly any banter between him and Ratchet. So now there is no need for a character arc. Ratchet is already a care bear sooo...we have Qwark? This is like Qwark fanfiction than a proper RnC movie.

The supporting cast is pointless. They are generic. I only kinda cared about them because...they were the good guys. But I forgot all of their names as soon as I heard them, and even now as I write this review, I can't be bothered to check. Out of all of them, the nerd alien woman was probably the most useful. Still don't remember her name.

I hated the soundtrack, its as generic as humanly possible. Games have much better music that fits the world these characters live in. What on earth happened? Most of the jokes fell flat, I got a few dry chuckles but for the most part all I could do was cringe at the cliches. This movie is so cliche I thought I had gained clairvoyance. I was able to predict things before they even happened. Why even bother with celebrity voice actors in a movie like this? Nobody who went to see it did for Sylvester Stallone or John Goodman or anyone else. We wanted to see these awesome characters we grew up with do awesome **** on the big screen! I mean seriously was "be in a kid movie" on Stallone's bucket list or something?? And honestly, the way the RnC reboot tries to smash cut this movie into the actual game plot is bizarre, and kind of insulting. I had no idea people still did the ancient practice of sticking movie clips for their movie tie n games to get out of making proper cutscenes. It's insulting here because the first game had cut scenes. Better cutscenes. And the plot of the movie is I'd say 90 percent different than the original game's plot. So it doesn't make any sense, and ruins the whole bouquet. The only positive I can dredge from this terrible waste of opportunity is, well, Ratchet is adorable. I don't like how they castrated his personality, but damn, the animators made him cute as a button. I think it would have been great had he retained his game personality. You know how everybody loves that Rocket Raccoon guy? Well this movie could have had that same boon. A cute and cuddly critter with a mean attitude. Kids love that kind of crap. The lack of self awareness from this movie studio (and Insomniac) is staggering. They basically erased what made Ratchet and Clank so memorable and loved in the first place!

It has a solid, albeit less than original message: You don't have to be big or impressive to be good, you just have to do what's right and have heart. This is, as Ratchet says, actually pretty good. It encourages humility and just being a decent person, and the movie highlighted giving more intellectual, less physical people respect and praise. It has characters that feel very genuine. Ratchet is a geek, through and through, and they embrace that without making it cringey. The movie had vibrant action with plenty of the awesome, zany weapons the series is known for. It had clever, self-aware humor that appeals both to long-time fans via inside jokes and easter eggs as well as movie-goers in general via quality wit and homages. This was a properly quality movie, and as both a fan of Ratchet & Clank and a fan of animated films, I was very pleased. Expand

But can I recommend this movie to the average film goer? Well... I guess. it's not bad, but not great. I went with my girlfriend, and she enjoyed it. said that it was better than she thought it was going to be.

I personally don't think that it was worth the wait, but i did enjoy the movie. I'm not sure if it will get a sequel, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. I really am, Rainmaker pulled out all the stops in the animation to make it look like the original games, but better, the Insomniac level style of comedy was absolutely perfect and forth-front. (That style being able to perfectly weave comedy in the middle of series moments.) And I personally was in it to the the end. It never dropped a beat, while adapting the original game into a movie form with references to the original game perfectly. Even keeping the old story solid. I don't see why the critics are panning it this hard, especially when the consensus, here and on Twitter, are calling it good to great. However, I don't believe the ~30% that the critics have collectively given it is warranted. It's not perfect, even from a life-long fan's perspective, but giving it such a score isn't fair in the least whether or not you've been introduced to Ratchet and Clank previously. It was my childhood game, I loved the game, I loved the movie. Great humour, great characters. I think the critics just need to cool off a bit and take it a little lighter. I don't know what they have against video game movies but the critic to it is way too much. Like, look at the audience score! It's a huge difference compared to the critics and people should trust the audience score instead. Ratchet and clank movie was made for the fans! Those who already know and love these characters and this style of humour will find a lot to love about the movie, but the uninitiated will likely write it off as just another animated movie. It's a shame, because of the fans who get it. Critics who have no idea about the game should keep their opinions to themselves. Who are they to judge if they don't know anything? I've been excited for this film ever since its 2013 announcement (it's based on my favourite game series of all time) and now that it's finally here, I'm happy to say that Ratchet and Clank is a good movie. The story has a very similar plotI've been excited for this film ever since its 2013 announcement (it's based on my favourite game series of all time) and now that it's finally here, I'm happy to say that Ratchet and Clank is a good movie. The story has a very similar plot to the first game on PS2 and the reboot game on PS4 - Ratchet, a mechanic on Planet Veldin, wants to be a Galactic Ranger and goes to the tryouts when they arrive on his home planet. However, the Rangers don't think he has 'what it takes'. Clank is then introduced, one of Chairman Drek's defective warbots. After being chased by Victor Von Ion (voiced by Sylvester Stallone), Clank escapes the warbot factory but crash-lands on Veldin, where Ratchet finds him and checks him for damage just before Clank wakes up and Ratchet introduces himself with a nickname for the robot instead of 'warbot defect', Clank. When Ratchet and Clank save Planet Kerwan from an attack by the warbots and the Blarg, they are placed into the Galactic Rangers by the leader, Captain Qwark. Their mission leads them to a plan about Chairman Drek's 'Deplanetiser' which is destroying planets and using the remains of them to make the perfect planet, so now Ratchet and Clank must stop him from destroying every planet in the galaxy. But Dr. Nefarious is also involved (in his pre-robot form since he wasn't introduced until the timeline of Ratchet and Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal) and is trying to sabotage Drek's plan to do it all himself.

I was a bit worried about the film's quality since Rainmaker Entertainment (one of the studios making the film) have produced lots of straight-to-DVD Barbie films, but the animation is still very good-looking almost-all-around. The film replaces Kevin Michael Richardson with Paul Giamatti for the voice of Chairman Drek, and he acts surprisingly well. Of course, there are some references to past games in the series and even some to other PlayStation platforming games. There are some jokes that gave me a good laugh (many of the people who worked on the games have written the film and Ratchet, Clank and Qwark's original voice actors reprise their roles), even if there are maybe a few too many 'modern' jokes (segways, hashtags and texting). However, if you're not a fan of Ratchet and Clank, this film might be less enjoyable for you and end up in around the 4 to 6/10 scores. Since the film is only an hour and a half long, it leaves some of the new characters like Elaris, Cora and Brax quite underdeveloped.

But overall, I was definitely satisfied with the Ratchet and Clank movie and I'm looking forward to any sequels Rainmaker, Blockade and Insomniac Games might make. Even though you'll probably enjoy it less if you don't play the games, it's still a good animated film and one of the best to be based on a video game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ratchet and Clank was a blast. Amazing animation, qwerky humor, and lots of references to pop culture. It stays true to the video games.

The story takes place where Ratchet and Clank first met. The two main characters of the movie. The plot of the story is there is this bad guy who is trying to create the perfect planet from other planets. Problem with it is, it develops too fast without much character development, especially too people who haven't heard of the video games. There are some funny moments and especially when one of the characters screamed out the infamous Wilhelm scream and another character screamed out "WILHELM"!!!!

Pros:
Faithful Recreation of the games
Lots of Funny Moments
Amazing animation
Clever Humor

Cons:
Plot develops too fast
Confusing plot

Where: The first galaxy far, far away we fell in love with before we were old enough to truly appreciate Star Wars
When (Can I watch again): When you have obtained every trophy in the 2016 Ratchet and Clank game except for the one where you have to use the 'Groovitron' on every enemy. Then you go through the entire game again because you have not yet gotten it, and you spend 3 and a half hours using the Groovitron on every enemy and still do not get it so you throw the game away out of sheer frustration...I know a guy...
Why: If you were a true fan of one of the greatest franchises in the Playstation universe, you owe it to yourself to watch this movie. If you were not a fan, I can almost assure you you will hate it

This is the failing of Ratchet & Clank, it relies on preexisting bias to create the enjoyment you would get from the film, instead of trying to be entertaining itself. The more positive viewer reviews for this movie clearly display that. This movie did not try to be anything different then the game, which wears thin to those who do not get off to a nostalgia factor. Although this is a kids movie, lack of effort to be original and stand alone when adapting a medium to a film is lazy writing.

The animation was decent, but the characters were poorly developed and lacked any form of complicated personality.

Cons
-Weak writing
-Poorly developed characters
-Bad pacing
-Predictable humor that could only be funny to children
Pros
-decent animation and art direction

Now the movie may not be for everyone, the movie is aimed for fans and children. The Animation, Voice Acting, and Story will keep you glued to the screen. A few things however such as the pacing of the story are too fast and a little repetitive, but nothing to make you feel to mad about the movie. If you're seeing the critic reviews, don't be influenced by them and be influenced by the reviews of actual fans. Now remember, before expecting the type of humor featured in the old games, it's a kids movie. This movie can be adored by any family, it's charming, action packed, and just beautiful. The new elements added such as Nefarious and more, it's just a great movie. Expand

To begin with, I'm not a fan of the games nor have I played them. But I have heard of the "Ratchet & Clank" franchise. So on this note, I will give my review.
When I heard of this movie(as well as the negative reviews it got by critics) I decided to give this movie a try. Especially since my viewing would not be based off any fans or critics.
Upon watching it the first time, I found the movie to be pretty good. When I watched it a second time, I noticed more of what was happening during the course of the movie as well as a growing admiration for the effort that was put into it.
I also had my brothers(four to be exact) watch the movie with me(first time for "them", third time for me.) Even my brothers found it pretty good(and believe me, they are as hard to please as the critics of "Rotten Tomatoes".)
For a movie that is designed to be an origin story for a game franchise, I say that the animators did an excellent job on it!
So on a scale of 1 to 10, I give "Ratchet & Clank" an 8!

TheyA kid-friendly romp through a familiar videogame world. While this adaption of the popular Playstation series falls short in things like originality or connectable characters, there's something to be said silly humor and flashy visuals. They just might not be enough to entertain older audiences.

As far as it's faithfulness to the series it's based on goes, there's not too much I can say on that front. I'm not very familiar with the games at all. I can say that fans will likely get a kick out of seeing their favorite characters brought to life onscreen and appreciate the little references found throughout.

As far as the plot goes it's your standard save the world setup. Much like just about every modern superhero flick, some bad guy(s) is destroying stuff and our heroes need to stop some device in order to save the day. The writers tried to throw some morals about how you don't need to do big things to be a hero, but they ultimately go un-talked about. Plus it's more than a little contradictory to say that, but show their characters only becoming heroes by, you know, doing big things.

So yeah, when it comes to writing it falls short. Not too mention there's no real way to engage with these characters. No, you come into this one for the jokes. Just keep in mind that the humor is aimed at the kids.

There are some clever lines here and there that will illicit laughs and more often chuckles. The majority of the jokes are only going to click with the younger watchers though. In the end that isn't entirely a bad thing.

Ratchet & Clank is more for the kids and less for the parents. So when it comes to family movie night, this is one animated movie you may want to pass on in favor of something from DreamWorks or Pixar. Let your kids watch this one on their own. As for older fans of the games, I don't really know what to tell you. 6.5/10

The pre release critical reviews for this movie confused me. On the one hand I could expect with this being a video game movie and an animated one at that the big time critics would be ready to hate it and rightly so as it is not meant for them. That said however I also noticed people dismissing it as something that will keep kids happy with little for anyone older. This is a lie.

If you are familiar with the Ratchet and Clank games and enjoy them you will love this it is that simple. Sure the run and gun action has been replaced with more adventure movie feeling action and such but what were people expecting? You cannot recreate that kind of gameplay perfectly onscreen.
For what this movie is it does a great job of being entertaining, it has the usual style of humour that made the older games enjoyable and it is very well written and intelligent. (There is a Wilhelm scream joke early on that is particularly amusing.)

All in all its far from perfect but far better than what the critics are saying, It kept me more engaged than I expected and I am very much hoping for a sequel in the future.

He sounded and acted like every other generic hero I've seen. All these new characters had no character or interesting traits in the least and had no meaningful interactions. Nearly every joke fell flat. I did't laugh once. The pacing was some of the worst I've seen. It played out like a giant cutscene which is actually the funniest thing about the movie. It is boring and fails on every level except animation both in the r and c series and as a stand alone movie. So whoever wrote this movie did an absolutely horrible job. If I could describe this movie in one word it would be generic. I'm a fan of the series and am massively disappointing. Also to everyone saying this movie is for kids the first game came out in 2002 so fans of the series are at least late teenagers and more importantly it being a kids movie isn't an excuse for it being bad. I laughed more than expected (despite the humor's scattershot approach), the visuals could really impress despite the small budget (weak facial animation, though), they did a great job of incorporating the games' elements into it, and there was even more moral to it than I was expecting (not that it was profound). It was by no means perfect, but I was actually quite entertained and in my opinion they really underrated this one. Shame it wasn't better received (critically or commercially).

P.S.: Major kudos for retaining the core voice cast. The execs could have easily replaced them with celebrities in an attempt to draw more publicity, but they chose to respect the property and relegate said celebs to new supporting roles.

Before you flame my opinion, first of all I used to remember putting "I hope the movie can be as great as the video game" in the game's review, but then I checked on the last day before its release that it's also... comedy. Well, that had to blew everything. Plus, I couldn't respect James Arnold Taylor as an actor other than Ratchet, Obi-Wan Kenobi and other stuff he does best except Johnny Test because of it. Why does almost every animation needs to be a comedy? I mean look at The Incredibles. That isn't comedy, it's an animated film though, and it's one of my favorites. RIP - Was planning to give it an 8, but then critics are giving it negative reviews and then I realized it was a comedy the entire time. Faithful to the game series and expanding upon it, great animation and look to it. Story may be rather basic, but for its target audience it works perfectly fine. After being a fan of the games, I would've wanted to see Kevin Michael Richardson back as Drek, there was no reason not to (but they had to draw in an audience someway, so that's why Giamatti is there.)
Above all, this film is FUN. Great jokes and references to the games (that classic Playstation start-up sound, come on) and just great sillyness to get lost in for a couple of hours.

Or they're likely to be insecure parents who have never heard a thing called "video games" before. Its seriously appalling, and you guys ought to be ashamed of yourselves because you think a video game doesn't belong in movies. Well, Wreck-It Ralph was a MOVIE based on VIDEO GAMES and it was a huge hit. Of course, you would-be critics (with negative ones) are too narrow minded when it comes to video games being in movies. You have to give them AT LEAST a chance to do so, otherwise you're making yourselves look like fools. Now, as for the movie itself, long-story short, its a pretty good movie, even though some of the plotlines were off and that the casts are different than the original ones. Still, there were memorable easter eggs related to Playstation and such, so all in all, this gets a solid B. If you so-called critics will take your time to reconsider this and not call this just a "typical kiddie movie", then we'll all be happy. It doesn't HAVE to have perfect storylines; its strongly based on a VIDEO GAME FRANCHISE. If you still don't get it, then you're not a gamer; just a bunch of brown-nosers who wastes their time giving us long-time gamers a bad name. Expand

A few cheesy jokes here and there but overall an entertaining movie a little disappointed they changed some things that happened in the game and added in characters who were not originally there.

As a movie, it's still good. It may not have the most complex plot, but it's really nice to see a good, fun movie you don't have to hyper-analyze to understand and enjoy. It's colorful and nice. If you have kids, bring them! If you don't, see it if you enjoy a colorful adventure with cute, fun characters.

As for both the animation and the voice acting; I have seen far better, but have also seen far worse. What really irks me is the plot. In the film, it has a boring climax, unfunny humor, and an entirely cliche premise that makes it like every other family film with the "teary eyed dreamer" stereotype. Almost every element of the original PS2 game's story is the exact, better opposite. It has a great comedy, epic climax, and an over-the-top buddy road trip style narrative. However, I have to this some credit for being far better than other game films in the past like the Super Mario Brothers Movie, even though whatever studio made this definitely brought their "B" game to the project. But if you looking for a great R&C story, and you own a PS2, I would highly recommend the first game instead. Expand

BUT NO! the movie is a bit true to the game. It lasts 1 hour and a half, but God movie seems that lasts 2 hours. the movie tells you slowly as the story goes, maybe they did that for a person who knows little or nothing of the game, can understand. the voices of Ratchet, Clank and Qwark are the same, that's good. the animation is a plus point of the movie, although it takes more alive, more textures or colors. as the hairs. it is not up to Pixar, Dreamworks, bluesky, much less than Sony. but this very fluid, and not so exaggeratedly realistic, as Finding Dory. the movie is not funny, but not boring, and you can enjoy it with whom you accompany her, as your brother, sister, your sister's boyfriend, (maybe ...) or in the best case, your cousin fan Playstation games or cinema. Ratchet & Clank is not a bad movie, it's so, but the angry birds movie is much better, and do not think this film can be remembered. Expand

Visually, Ratchet & Clank has its appeal.... But the story is ultimately too predictable and forgettable to make Ratchet & Clank anything but a kid-targeted holdover between slavishly awaited tentpole behemoths from the comic book world.

The worst thing about it is the Fanboys/girls defending this, OK sure many people have their own opinions and I can't deny that. This movie hurt me, as huge fan of the Ratchet and Clank games since the 2nd game: Ratchet and Clank 2 Locked and Loaded. I was excited/hyped with the movie; I certainly hoped this movie would be the first video game movie to be at-least decent. Oh how hype disappoints... Why did we even bother? Just why? The Jokes are very cringe worthy unfunny and predictable. Too many bogus pop culture references! The way they have changed Ratchet's personality is just the worst, made him this stereotypical nerd that wants to be a goody two-shoe Galactic Ranger. What's with this cliché "I want to be this but I can't because I am an underdog." it's stale. The Galactic Rangers is just really boring. Cora Veralux is a bland excuse of a bad-ass character. Most of the characters were uninteresting. This movie could've been so much better but unfortunately it resorted to hiring big actors like Sylvester Stallone which was there just for the huge paycheck! This could've been a down to earth movie about a furry mechanic who becomes a hero of his galaxy while developing a relationship with his robot companion Clank. Instead we got a cringe worthy adventure with a nerdy naive mechanic that instantly become best friends without any character development whatsoever that wants to be a galactic ranger. This movie crammed years of Character arc and effort that the first few games had down to a 90 minute movie and got rid of what made the characters special to begin with. This is just a huge reason why Games should stay as games. Don't give me this excuse of it's made for kids because I have seen movies who were aimed at young audiences yet adults and kids enjoy. Just because It's made for kids doesn't mean it escapes criticism. If this movie didn't have Ratchet and Clank plastered all over it people would be calling out for what it is. An unfunny cliché mediocre kiddies movie. Just play the Games instead. Avoid this movie. (Oh I cannot wait for the negative votes on this review by rabid fanboys that cannot take opinions.) Expand

Expand

Comedy was painfully lame and generic, villain was unintersting and the weapons where lacking. The unique and exotic planets where dull here and just so lame.
