Just not appropriate for children and certainly has too many moments of adult humor that didnt need to be there. I did like the new story telling of "monster turn hero", and the villan was well thought out. I also was intrigued with the shapshifting abilty and how the medival story was placed in a futuristic time. To be honest the love story was very weak and it makes the "vallient" knight hero story look like a joke. Artistically beautiful but I dispised all the weak knights that were supposed to protect the city. The children should have been in charge if we were going to be realistic. The children seemed to be the only ones who would pick up a sword.… Expand

A bit of a disaster
I loved the characters in this movie, but the whole thing felt like somebody got writer's block and decided to keep writing. It just all seemed somewhat forced. The title character was really the only good part. BallisterA bit of a disaster

The title character was really the only good part. Ballister and Goldenloin's relationship seemed rushed, as if they were desperate to have some representation in the movie. It would've been fine if they'd let it develop, but it was shoved in at the beginning. It was a novel idea, but poorly executed. This movie could've been much better with more effort. The ending seemed very forced; it tried to make a cliffhanger but was overall disappointing. Nimona's character is pretty metal, though.… Expand

Body-shaming is bad unless it is manhood size, got it. Don't get me wrong, I think we should be able to make fun of almost anything. But it is the hypocrisy of these preachy self-righteous and ultimately clueless people that is bugging me.

I was super excited going into this movie because it is based of off the novel written by Noelle Stevenson. I wanted the movie to be great but it lacks any substance, with each of the characters feeling feeling like shells of who they are in the novel. The movies art style also doesn't do justice to the novel. The art feels way to polished and lacks any creativity, like any boring kids movie out there. I wouldn't be so harsh on the project if it wasn't based off of a fantastic novel. The movie is boring. And i would still hate it, but it would be better if they changed the name of the movie, and also the names of the characters. To differentiate from the book.… Expand

Could've been better
Honestly not as good as I was hoping. Still decent, but ultimately falls a little flat for me.

Honestly not as good as I was hoping. Still decent, but ultimately falls a little flat for me.
My biggest gripes are with the world and characters. Almost every single person in this movie is frustrating to watch, with misunderstanding and lack of communication being an annoying, ever-present trope on display. Everyone also acts very irrational and cruel, often where it doesn't make sense or seems out of character.
On that topic, it breaks my suspension of disbelief seeing literally everyone in the setting be ignorant and unquestioning of everything. They live in a futuristic society that's progressed 1,000 years, and yet nobody knows what's on the other side of their city's walls? The story seems to focus far more on symbolism and ideas than actually making logical sense.
Other than the writing itself, the rest of the movie is pretty decent. Visually it looks great, the shading and colors are quite pleasing to witness. And it's nice to see a movie not still following the uninspired style of most Disney or Illumination movies. Music ranges from great to serviceable, which I'll definitely take.
Overall not a bad film, but I think it struggles a bit where it really counts.… Expand

This movie should be rated pg-13. While briefly watching with my 8 year old, I noticed swearing and relationship conversations for 13 yr or older. I am told there is also a kiss, which I do not think should be viewed by young children. IThis movie should be rated pg-13. Такс, краткий обзор мульта. Если честно то довольно посредственно. И так первое - повестка. Это ж все таки Нетфликс, поэтому как без нее. Главый герой Баллистер голубец и весь мульт пытается достучаться до своего возлюбленного. Но по крайнейТакс, краткий обзор мульта. Если честно то довольно посредственно. И так первое - повестка. Это ж все таки Нетфликс, поэтому как без нее. Главый герой Баллистер голубец и весь мульт пытается достучаться до своего возлюбленного. Но по крайней мере он хоть не страдает фигней рассказывая как ему тяжело, что он голубец, как его все не понимают, как все смотрят на него свысока и какой он несчастный. Мульт без подобного нытья, так что вполне терпимо. Баллистер - голубец, но ведет себя так как полагается парню и рыцарю.

Второе - сюжет. Непритязательно и слишком быстро. События летят настолько стремительно, что порой, кажется, что история раньше подавалась в формате мультсериала, но потом ее попросту сократили до полнометражки. Третье - логика. Ее в происходящем попросту нет. Люди заперли себя в огромном городе за гигантской стеной считая, что снаружи монстры и за 1000 лет никто так и не удосужился проверить так это или нет. Более того их мир технологически более развит нашего. С дронами, летательными аппаратами и прочим. Но никто не пожелал посмотреть, а что там за стеной? Нет понятно, что все это иносказание и философские наставления, но если блин если просто смотреть и не задумываться над подобными вещами, то все выглядит невероятно глупо и кринжово.

И в четвертых. Самая главная проблема мульта - ничего нового. Да, да именно ничего нового. Какой-то гений маркетинга создавая трейлеры не придумал ничего более гениального чем попросту разрезать мульт на куски. Иными словами практически 90% мульта уже показали нам в трейлерах. Не показанными остались только несколько сцен, а именно завязка истории, поход в метро, небольшая подстава и финал. Если перематывать, все что показывали в трейлерах, то от 1:42:46, останется где минут 30-35.… Expand
