This is a vivid, strange, at times breathtaking action film with surprisingly strong character development and performances. The plot is pretty straightforward but you do get involved anyways. This over straightforwardness and relatively short length however stops this ride from being able to become the odyssey of redemption it could have been. But it's still undoubtedly one of the most vibrant, visceral, and intense action films ever created. You never feel like the characters are safe, which is an uncertainty lacking in almost all action films. It's the type of cinematic experience that needs to be seen on the big screen despite its minor flaws. This will almost certainly be the best film of the summer, and one the best of the year. Expand

Mental, disturbing, off the rails, bonkers, fantastic!

My initial thoughts of the film when I left the cinema were "that was mental, but quite good I guess". But then I realised, a week later, I was still thinking about what I had seen, the action, the bizarre charaters, the fact that Charlize Theron totally owned the film....

There is a great plot to be found in the film and there is depth that I didn't totally grasp at first and I think that's down to not being quite in the right frame of mind to watch the film.

Basically, prepare yourselves for a totally crazy film that defies all logic. It's a post apocalyptic adventure where there is no logic. This isn't our time. It's their time. They are The Mad.

Mad Max didn't disappoint. For a movie with lighter dialogue and amped-up action sequences that will blow anything Michael Bay could ever hope to achieve out of the water, Mad Max has a bit of heart (though it's still somewhat light for plot and character development - only offering what you need to buy into the movie) . It's gloriously over the top but somehow remains somewhat visceral. The magic is happening as the result of well-crafted action sequences that progress appropriately, instead of throwing all sorts of extra obstacles and insanity "just because". Everything is focused and paced well, and I really enjoyed that about MM. While the first half of the movie is entertaining, it's the final half hour that really had me on the edge of my seat. I'm not certain there's supposed to be any other Mad Max movies to follow this reboot, but they'll have to work wonders to top the action bar set here. Expand

As a Hummungus(pun intended) fan of Mel Gibson's portrayal of Max Rockatansky,so i could not wait to see how Tom Hardy would fill in the shoes of The Road Warrior, since his acting material for the last couple of years, has been nothing short of astonishing, and once again he does a superb job of modernizing the character for the younger audiences, while also keeping enough of sadness and despair from his performance that reminds the fans that this is the man who lost everything, tried to fix it and went mad. However, the real show-stealer in the film is Charlize Theron who plays a real female version of The Road Warrior,Imperator Furiosa, whose name strucks fear and demands respect amongst Immortan Joe's army(whose actor pllayed Toecutter,in the original Mad Max),both play their parts stunningly and Furiosa is going to be remembered in History as "one of the most badass female warrior in film history",she's that good.Nicholas Hoult turns in the usually charismatic performance that is indeed very expected of him,and his character Nux provides craziness and innocence wrapped up into one package or a blood bag.Immortan Joe's wives provide the traditional damsels in distress ,yet George MIller still makes them strong and independent by having each partake in a moment critical to success in victory in one of film's many exciting action seqeuences.

The action ,the cars, the stunts, the choreography and George Miller himself, are the real stars of the film.Miller finds strange beauty inside the chaos and destruction of the film,he uses practical effects to a degree no other director has used in a movie like this, even better than the original trilogy's action combined, the level of cinematography and the astonishing shots of the desoalte wasteland look amazing, and will definetely leave some breathless. What George Miller also manages to bring back is tension and the feeling of vulnerability to the main protagonist, due to careful construction of each sequence, knowledge of geographic location of cars and the environment and the careful use of cotraptions and poles that swing back and forth and force characters into unexpected and dangerous situations. It's nail-biting really and by the time the film's done, you'll find yourself sweating and positively exhausted, from all the action films i've seen(and i've seen many)this one has some of the best car combat in cinema and some of the most gorgeous cinematography to date,it is a visual masterpiece, and George Miller is one of the few rare directors that don't lose their talent as they get older, and pack as much kinetic punch as some of the younger directors in the industry.Last, but not least the score of the film is terrific and totally rocks, heavy metal and drums have never been utilized this well,Junkie XL has outdone himself and made a very fitting and detailed musical composition to the film, that gets intergrated into the story of War boys and how Guitarists and drummers get used for rallying up warriors together and setting them in a fighting mood, clever writing from Miller and McCarthy results in a concept this ridicoulously over-the-top making more sense than you would imagine and pack thrills that most heavy metal concerts can't.

George Miller has returned with an enormous bang and revived this long-forgotten but legendary franchise and set it roaring on the fury road with vicious speed and even more meaning, simply put it is not only the best movie of the year so far,it is also the best movie you'll see this summer and one of the best action films i've ever seen, welcome back Max,you've been missed.

Mad Max: Fury Road has the rare trailer that accurately depicts the experience that you are going to get walking into that movie theater. It's almost non-stop action with a minimalist plot.

Now I have seen some people complain about that aspect of the movie - the plot of the film and little character development. And I have to admit that it did grate on me a little, my more accurate score would be 8.5. But that is a very minor nitpick because a movie that is a visual spectacle would only suffer in having a complicated plot. The story in Mad Max: Fury Road is simple, but it works.

Typically saying "much action, little plot" would be an insult, but George Miller manages to create a masterpiece that, similarly to last year's Lego Movie, puts to shame the inferiors and shows just how glorious things could be when done right.

It adds up to a stranger and stunning scenery, with a distorted vision of society that goes deep into human despair; maybe a little stimulated by Miller in fact also be a doctor, something that can offer a person a more worrying vision and clarified on many aspects of life. I watched this with my friend and we whispered every other minute to each other and we both managed to remember most characters and even discuss Easter eggs and features in the characters. It was appealing visually and it was appealing in that it could tell a story through not just words but through visuals as well. This movie seem to do well in the character development department and the dialog was minimal but it complimented the films feel. Tom Hardy was a great Max and has portrayed Max in a very honest way. The only thing stopping me from giving it the full 10 out of 10 is that the film feels like it is more about Furiosa and not Max. I think the film needed a little more Max and I'm not saying that he needs more character development or he needs to talk more. I think that would have made the film worse, but I think it should have felt more like we were watching Max help Furiosa on her journey but I felt as if we were watching Furiosa's journey. It is still a very action packed thrill ride with very good effects that are visually stimulating and exciting. This is a movie that has a lot to offer. It is a must see and it is executed very well. Essentially it's 1 long lorry journey with lots of explosions and loud noises. However it sure is an awesome ride. The action is intense and barely stops throughout the film. The jaw dropping scenery coupled with intense soundtrack and effects make sure you're on the edge of your seat for the whole journey. However you do feel like all the action is disguising an incredibly basic and uninteresting plot and in terms of acting it's a mixed bag with some good performances and some not so good (looking at you RHW). Fans of mindless action will love this and it is impressive in so many ways, but it just doesn't have the substance to warrant me giving it any more than a (strong) 7 out of 10.

Overrated? Yes.
Should you watch it anyway? Yes.

Beautiful, thrilling, suspenful, and amazing are just a few words that describe Mad Max: Fury Road. The Writer and Director of this film, George Miller was also responsible for the original Mad Max trilogy-starring actor Mel GibsonBeautiful, thrilling, suspenful, and amazing are just a few words that describe Mad Max: Fury Road. The Writer and Director of this film, George Miller was also responsible for the original Mad Max trilogy-starring actor Mel Gibson (Braveheart, The Patriot) as Max Rockatansky, who was seeking vengeance for the murder of his family. While he goes about seeking vengeance, Max (Mel Gibson) must overcome outlaws, gangs, and criminals along with his own past or ghosts rather, in a post apocalyptic setting as seen throughout all of the other films.

It has now been 30 years since the last Mad Max film was released in theaters causing the audience to feel a bit skeptical or apprehensive about this new movie of his, Fury Road. However, he had the audience on the edge of their seat as soon as the opening credits rolled in. The first scene of the film does an amazing job capturing the essence and the energy of the film as a whole, with an impressive chase scene involving our hero, Max. This is a movie that 80% of what you seen on screen was made with practical effects, which helped to elevate the movie even more. The car chases were awesome to watch as they were filled with beautiful action and breathtaking shots.

The action scenes were not the only breathtaking moments though. This film featured great talents such as Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) as Max Rockatansky, Charlize Theron (Monster, The Italian Job) as Furiosa, and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class, Warm Bodies) as Nux, and Hugh Keays-Byrne (Mad Max)

The film may be called Mad Max, but the character Furiosa (Charlize Theron) is the one that steals the show. The film focuses more on her as the main heroin who is trying to bring peace and freedom to a group of females that are being kept as slaves and property of the Immortan Joe played by Hugh Keays-Byrne who also played the original villain of the 1979 Mad Max version. By the second act things were really starting to heat up as Furiosa and Max come together in order to protect the women and take down the enemy with all they got.

In conclusion, Director George Miller shines as a filmmaker with Fury Road, making the audience feel like they are right in the middle of the action. He does everything right, from a great opening scene, to a deeply satisfying final act of the film. This is a film that is not for everyone, but if you love action and well-crafted action scenes, then this is the perfect movie for you. Over all, Mad Max: Fury Road is simply a stunningly beautiful action masterpiece that will live on for a very long time.

Final Score: 9.7/10

It's been 30 years since George Miller last showed us the insanity of his post apocalyptic Australian wasteland, with the long gap partly being due to the film's production being almost as chaotic as the world the film is set in with the filmIt's been 30 years since George Miller last showed us the insanity of his post apocalyptic Australian wasteland, with the long gap partly being due to the film's production being almost as chaotic as the world the film is set in with the film is set. It had many difficulties including being stuck in development hell for years, filming being repeatedly delayed, and difficulties in securing locations to shoot the film. Miller had plans to do the film as far back as 2003 with Gibson intended to reprise his role but took a further 10 years before tuition. But fortunately Miller persevered through all this turmoil to once again to return to the driver's seat of the franchise and create this masterpiece that is his best film yet.

At the start of the film we watch as Max (Tom Hardy) is captured by an army known as the War Boys ruled by a dictator known as Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne). Shortly after being captured one of Joe's soldiers called Furiosa (Theron) drives off in an armoured fuel truck with his wives so that they do not have to bare the children of a monstrous man and tries to drive to her childhood homeland. Because of this Joe sets out with an army to chase her down and Max is used as a blood bank attached to one of the chasing cars. Eventually after freeing himself he joins Furiosa and helps in fighting off the legions of War Boys sent by Joe in a non stop chase spanning the entirety of the film.

And when I say non stop chase, I mean non stop chase. From the very opening of the film to the end they don't go 5 minutes without some exciting action sequence with almost the entire scene being part of some chase or fight scene. Whilst under a lesser filmmakers control such action could be repetitive, Miller keeps it original by varying the action sequences and the beautiful scenery making it a masterpiece to watch.

Also the action is all so well made. In contrast to a lot of recent blockbusters like Fast and Furious, most of the film is done with practical effects and stunt work with CGI used very sparingly making for a much more high octane and realistic action sequences. They pull off everything in this film flipping cars, people dangling from or even jumping between speeding cars and even being engulfed flames. It's hard to tell who's more insane, the people coming up with these incredible stunts or those who take part in them. The scale of the stunts alone is impressive, but the consistent creativity and range of the stunts within the chase should keep any fan of action gripped to the screen.

On top of the mayhem of the chase sequences, the entire world is absolutely insane. It's strange to think that the same mind to create the likes of Happy Feet and Babe: Pig in the City also creates a world like this with the likes of woman having their breasts milked as a resource, a legion of pale thrash metal dressed soldiers and vehicles ranging from a tank plated gas truck to a barge led by a guitarist who shoots a flamethrower out of his guitar. It's a compliment to Miller's imaginative style that he can create such a bizarre whilst progressing the story and having constant action.

Beyond carrying out incredible stunts, the cast also give some impressive performances. Tom Hardy does a great job filling in the dusty leather jacket as Mad Max. We're quickly reintroduced to him at the beginning of the film so newcomers to the franchise are familiar with his back-story with Max explaining how he lost his family and blames himself, with their loss leaving him with nothing but the instinct to survive. Oddly this short explanation of his character is the most that Hardy speaks in the film. Instead of dialogue Hardy conveys most of his character through his look of exhaustion as a man who has been through far too much.

Then there's Theron as the metal armed and strong Furiosa who is amongst the likes of Sigourney Weaver in Aliens and Michelle Yeoh in Supercop as one of the best female action heroes. She often steals the show in the film as a more human character than Max, although just as dangerous as he is at one point even brawling him and showing herself to be just as deadly and resourceful as he is. There's a great deal of mystery to her back-story, with most of her history just being hinted upon. Also similarly to Hardy, Theron communicates so much through her hardened look showing herself to be the product of the destroyed world in which they live.

I just love everything in this movie. I love the detail in the way that all of the cars are adapted for the desert environment. I love the beautiful bright cinematography. I love that the chase lasting from start to end never for a second loses steam. Miller's imagination mixed with an incredible crew has created a glorious Symphony of madness and violence unlike any that had come before it. Apparently Hardy has already signed on for three more Mad Max films and with Miller's creative mind behind them they'll definitely be something to look forward to.

The most important action movie of at least the last ten years, if not the last 15. First, let's cover some basic complaints:

"There's no plot/dialogue/character development to this movie"

Wrong! The movie just uses a thing called "subtext" to not bash your head in with needless exposition. I can tell you the origins of almost all of the main characters with only a few seconds of screen time. I can tell you the complexities of the plot, and the motivations of the characters simply by paying attention to the world around them.

"It's just a two hour car chase"

First off, yes, there is a lot of action. A LOT. You know what separates it from the average sup par summer blockbuster? It happens to be extremely well shot. The action is kinetic, yet shot steadily. It is brutal, the scenery, the art direction and the music are all used to organically move the story along, creating a constant state of tension and dread knowing the main characters NEVER have the advantage on the battlefield. That said, there is at least 30 minutes of the 120 not centered on action, so there are breaks.

"Too much Furiousa, not enough Max"

With the exception of the first one, Max is never the center of the drama. He is akin to Eastwood in the "Man with No Name" movies. He is a drifter (as established in the opening monologue) who wanders into conflict. Such was the way with the previous two movies, and he even has more lines in this than "The Road Warrior". That said, Furiosa is the most fleshed out, well played badass female leads since Ellen Ripley or Sarah Conner.

With those points covered, you REALLY need this movie in your life if you love action movies. I would go everyday if I could afford to, finding new things in the background as I made my way to my fourth viewing this weekend. It's safe to say I've probably already seen my number one movie this year.

There may be little narrative continuity with the past Mad Max movies but it certainly captures the right feel and atmosphere.

I love the attention to detail in the sets, props and costumes that make the movie so immersive. This is the first movie in while which I watched again to catch the little details I missed when I watched it the first time. Some of the grunted, screamed and muttered dialogue needs subtitles...but that just adds to the chaos and strangeness. Some of the back stories could have been fleshed out a bit and leave a lot to the imagination ....but guess that was also done on purpose.

The acting is pretty good from all concerned with Thomas Hardy being suitably grunty and mad..and Charlize Theron being just the right amount of bad-ass to be enjoyable.

All in all worth a movie ticket ....or two.

This movie though was great. A massive car chase mixed with INSANELY close and claustrophobic fight scenes.

Almost all done in practical effects, only using CGI where needed (except for ONE scene where it stands out like a sore thumb, but they were trying to accomplish a specific set of circumstances. Just a shame, you can really tell.)

Really fun movie.

I hope this movie goes a long way to showing that the reason fewer action movie-goers are women isn't that we don't like explosions and car chases, it's that a lot of us like a plot we can be interested and invested in to hold the action scenes together. Really, I think that's the magic of Mad Max--it has a story that automatically piques my interest and sympathy by presenting a group of people attempting to escape a system that has brutally taken advantage of them their entire lives.

The matter of the film's depiction of disability is more problematic than its depiction of women. On the one hand, we have the disabled Charlize Theron, who is a complete badass, extremely capable, and whose disability is secondary to her character. But on the other hand, you have the depiction of the rulers in the city, whose disabilities are part of their grotesqueness, their fearsomeness. Around the time the movie came out, one redditor posted to /r/disability commenting on the experience for him of seeing, amongst all the people wearing prosthetics and makeup to render them grotesque, a person in a wheelchair with osteoimperfecta, his own disability--placing it on par with the terrifying invented conditions the movie portrays. That viewer's experience was not positive, and deserves to be recognized as an issue in the film's construction. As a sidenote, almost everyone in this dystopia seems to be white.

Despite that matter, I think this movie still represents a considerable amount of progress in the representation of women in mainstream, blockbuster movies. It's thrilling to see female characters participating actively in action sequences, rather than passively waiting to be rescued. The story is engrossing and exciting, the action never ever stops, and Tom Hardy's acting is incredible and subtle as always. I'll be shocked if this movie doesn't instantly become a classic of the genre.

People these days waste too much time over-analyzing every movie, song or novel as if they were homework assignments meant to be broken down and explored exhaustively.

For me its simple and always has been since I was a small child, does a movie (or song or novel or game etc..) pull me into its universe? If yes then it was a success, whether or not there was little or a lot of dialog, many sub plots or no plot at all.

I just want to be entertained when I consume media, I want to forget and escape for a little while, to me that is the point of art to begin with, to simply pull you into a universe not quite your own. This movie did that, I wasn't analyzing its character development or trying to decide on whether or not it was trying to convey some feminist message, if it had period correct clothing according to my physics professor...for 120 minutes I forgot that I was in a theater, I was in their world and rooting for Max and Furiosa...terrified of Immortan Joe and in awe of what was going on in front of me. I left the theater pumped, mind racing, wanting to go right back in and experience it again. I'm not entertained by mindless action, its not that, I felt that same way while watching Mulholland Drive, listening to A Boy Named Sue or reading Ghost World. Great fiction takes you into its world and doesn't let you leave until the closing credits.

My only problem with the plot is the logistics involved with the masses of people at the base of the citadel. Sure they might have water, but what exactly are they eating? Each other? Yuck!

That’s a good place to end, but no, just like George Miller we are plowing through to the bitter end. I watched somebody watch this on the little screen they stick on the back of airplane seats for long, cheap international flights. What the hell? Are you reliving the storyline so you can untangle some of the more complicated plot points (oh, that scene had 37 explosions, 2 were very subtle)? Are you soaking in all that rich character development (yes there is some, but stop acting like that’s revolutionary just because it’s better than would have been bad)? Did you accidentally see Confessions of a Shopaholic and just immediately need to burn the experience out of your veins? No, fellow traveler, you probably just love it so much that you would watch it on a **** if Apple would only let you, basking in the memory of all that blistering sight and sound while squinting against the glare on the morning train. I grew up with Mad Max. I wore out my bootleg Road Warrior tape when I got chicken pox. This is a different Mad Max in nearly every way, but it’s also a better one. I take it as a reboot. That makes things cleaner. There is maybe a 5% chance a sequel will be half as good or more than this new original—so revel in it while you can. And if you meet someone who doesn’t like it, don’t get on their case. They are weak, they have a condition, they don’t have the constitution for your impression of a War Rig. Expand

For lovely background of this movie, it describes details about hopeless desert life. There are several factors for making strong focus in movie, the world view, character, music.
Newclear war cause desertification and shorten human's life. In this movie except little of the people have the killing diseases even the boss of the Citadel(the city). For that reason, the short, hopeless lives keep running on the road with fearless. It makes super cool anal sucking action.
The max main character of this movie, has several past's problem with little girl's phantom, but the movie never tells about his life before newclear war. However we just know that phantome makes sick of him, why he doesn't want to tell his name to others. He didn't talk much, but we did understand much. The immotan, the boss of the citadel with warboys have a killing disease, so they want to make pure(without disease) descendant. The super hot chicks are brearer for immotan, for not certain reason, they want to escape from immotan. The furiosa(right?) want to escape Citadel too, so she breaks fence with those chicks, it makes immotan pissed off, that is why those whole crazy races has started.
It was the most fancy thing that the big truck with guitar guy. The guitar guy is the member of the warboys(The immotan's men), he plays guitar when the race begin. That guitar sounds make movie more exciting. The most super cool option, I think.
For those reason, i gave this movie the ten.

This is a film about a bunch of completely insane loonies on a road trip from hell, through a post-apocalyptic waste-land, to save a bunch of people from a totally nuts scary looking boss dude who drips feeds water to the rest of the population. They even have a crazy guy playing a crazy guitar with fire shooting out the neck of the guitar, on a truck. It was very AC/DC. But aside from all this, this film moves at break-neck speed. It has some of the best stunts (if not THE best) ever performed for the screen. It has a good plot, and acting. But most importantly, it has a VISION. And that is what I think makes it great. George Miller is a master of filming action. It shows in every scene. This film is more like a ride than a film. Expand

This movie was a spectacle... a top notch spectacle. Every shot was a painting. Every concept was over the top. Every scene was a 20 minute non-stop buzz saw of guzzoline-filled action.

What this film lacked was the sense of isolation found in Road Warrior & Thunderdome. Part of the problem was the scale and budget of the film. Everything was bigger and more densely populated. Adding to that was the fact there there was such little down time, particularly at the beginning of the film. It gave me the feeling that world was made up of relatively densely populated and advanced enclaves that were in pretty close proximity to each other. Sure, the main civilization was run by a totalitarian madman but other than that it was well organized, running efficiently and generally in great shape. What happened to the rag-tag tribes that could barely scratching out an existence from a deserted post-apocalyptic wasteland?

While technically and cinematically incredible, I think Miller couldn't see the forest for the trees and forgot what made the last two films so haunting and memorable.

Negative reviews seem to be limited to 2 camps. Dudes that question their sexuality and therefore can't stand to see any woman in an action movie that isn't completely hopeless or those that thought they were seeing a masterpiece theater show and walked into the wrong screening. Was Alien a bad movie because it had a strong female character and flamethrowers? Max is still clearly the biggest badass around and if you need more character development watch the first 3 movies so you know his story.

It's like going to a Tarantino movie and expecting meditations on life or a deeply philosophical movie. It's cinema. It's art. Visual art. That is what "Mad Max: Fury Road" is. Art. Visual art. The characters are not bad for a movie that, at its core, is clearly an action movie. I mean take this movie and compare it with "Furious 7". It's like comparing Hemingway ("MM:FR") with children's books ("F7").

People don't know how to take things just how they are and interpret when necessary, not all the time. Some movies are just here to watch them, shut up, go home and think "oh, that George Miller guy just pulled off one of the greatest action movies ever". Yes, this movie makes the Marvel universe and the Fast & Furious franchise look inept for a lack of a better word.

Really loved the movie. If you like movies, you should go. If you like feel good stories, you shouldn't go.

I expected a train wreck, didn't get one - Mad Max: Fury Road does the hi-octane stuff right, not dwelling on individual scenes a la "explosion porn" like Michael Bay does in his abortion of a franchise that is Transformers. Every shot here has a purpose, yet you see entire set pieces for just two seconds before the film moves on - and that's a good thing. The focus here is on art direction first and foremost, not "things that go boom".

Yet the movie does have faults. For one, the fast pace comes at the expense of character development - Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron do a good job of holding it together, but you don't feel invested in the characters as such; so much so that the lasting impression is of fine acting stretched thin. As said, the movies strengths overshadow this weakness - fantastic camera work, art direction, action and set pieces.

As a Spring/Summer blockbuster, it does its' job - it's a movie where you sit in front of it, it entertains from start to finish, and you go home happy. As long as you aren't expecting true depth and you're happy with (admittedly well done) CGI, you'll like this.

This is an excellent action film, plain and simple.

The plot is straightforward and short on dialogue, which works very well considering this film is driven by non-stop action and amazing visuals.

Post-apocalyptic Australia looks like a different planet, and there are so many gorgeous shots in the film, like the giant sand storm sequence, and Immortan Joe's fortress.

In addition, the setting and the costumes are imaginative, and the movie does a great job of creating a unique society that blends different elements like Norse Mythology and warrior culture.

And to top it all off you have an intimidating villain.

Mad Max: Fury Road is quite impressive; I would go so far as to call it close to a miracle.

I almost never see, rather than review, movies in this genre, as its not my thing. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Mad Max was pretty good, and it paid homage to its Gibson-esque prequels. The film works on almost every level: as a comic book movie, as an action flick, as a character study, and much more. Also, it has beautiful cinematography and performances to burn; some of the CGI was almost as good as in the 2009 movie "Avatar", I dare to say. It was a really well done movie overall, that will satisfy almost any viewer, and I highly recommend the experience.

We waited 30 damn years for this sequel, God it was worth it. These films aren't big on story or character development, but I think it's more the idea of the series. You have to get lost in these films like the other characters are. You'll understand why they have do the things they do in this terrible, post-apocalyptic world, and have a good time while you're at it.

That being said, Mad Max: Fury Road is just as absurd, bizarre, unique, and... well... mad. Tom Hardy gives a funny and great performance as Max, he's a great addition to the series and a good replacement for Mel Gibson(who had a quick cameo). Charlize Theron is also cool, but I think Nicholas Hoult was far more interesting. He absolutely disappeared under the white makeup and surprised me of how much effort he was putting into this performance. I love seeing George Miller expand on his universe and really show us just how screwy the future could be if society truly would fall apart. The bigger budget makes this movie look and sound amazing, and somehow, it still contains the same feel as the first two Mad Max films("Beyond Thunderdome" kinda got bland).

I look forward to future installments. Continue expanding this world, George Miller. Take all my money.

Sure, the action is breathlessly rousing and the imagery is quite beautiful, and there's a lot of narrative thrills to be had, but I think they should have fleshed out some characters further. Characters like Furiosa. Her past is questionably underdeveloped and that bugged me a little bit. Not the best movie of 2015, but surely a great one. I'm not a fan of the "Mad Max" franchise (the first movie didn't do much for me to elevate my excitement), but this was a nice film with some fun action and nice performances.

Final Score: 8/10.

Mostly every character is flushed out and the action doesn't slow the movie down. The movie does take it's time to really get into the story, and that's a good thing. It introduces us to the world and characters Max will be interacting with. Furiosa is a very well rounded character and isn't just put in there to make the feminist crowed happy. George Miller wanted to create a believable character that happened to be a woman, not the other way around. She was defiantly treated as a person first and a woman second. The only complaint I have for the movie is that I would have liked for the main villain to have been more flushed out, but he isn't as bad as some movie villains these days. Everyone had a reason for being there, and the story works well because of it. All and all, Mad Max: Fury Road, will leave you satisfied while wanting more. 9/10. Expand

It's a movie about survival, in Miller's beautiful visualized post-apocalyptic world. This really is a great refreshment to all the other so called "action movies" nowadays.

It's a crazy ride of insane, realistic and unique action at a grand scale. It got its classic moments with many references to the previous films, especially when it comes to the cinematography and the visual effects; which all are stunning! It's beautifully shot, the plot is extremely entertaining and the best aspect is the surprises throughout the film, so many crazy ones! This truly is an epic post-apocalyptic film, and it really is my favorite movie so far of 2015.

It's a bit overrated though, due to lack of long term entertainment when it comes to the action-sequences, but also because the movie didn't fit me to a 100 %. Everything else though; is EPIC! Wonderful and touching music, great characters, chemistry, spectacular action at a massive scale and a villain so great, and so terrifying and mysterious that he might be one of the best I've seen! The movie did satisfy my expectations, but it's a bit overrated.
