This movie was, unfortunately, pretty mediocre. I did laugh a few times but not nearly as much as I expected. I do love Key and Peele's short clips but their humor got stale pretty quickly in this hour and a half long movie.

If you're thinking about why I'm giving it a 4, it's because it's a comedy. No point taken, but every single wide movie that's getting released today is a comedy (Ratchet & Clank IS one). Besides, who couldn't resist seeing Keanu get catnapped?

How far would you go to save your little pet friend!

I was not expecting this film, so I'm not disappointed, but my rating is just what it deserved. I don't know these actors or the director, but that's not the reason I did not enjoy it.
How far would you go to save your little pet friend!

I was not expecting this film, so I'm not disappointed, but my rating is just what it deserved. I don't know these actors or the director, but that's not the reason I did not enjoy it. The story was average, like it was inspired by the Keanu Reeve's 'John Wick'. I mean, how far a man can go to avenge his pet animal's murder, but here it was a rescue mission. Maybe that's how they got the title, just kidding. A very interesting theme, but not a well written screenplay. This story lacks the clever scenes and dialogues. The comedies were not bad, but I've seen better one in a similar style.

The two cousins decide to hangout when one of them is going through the breakup thing with his girlfriend and the other one's family is going on a vacation. Seems everything is fine after they receive an unexpected guest, a kitty to cheer them, but when it goes missing, they plan to track him to get back. So the mission begins and they pose as the notorious drug dealers and go through many hurdles, but will they succeed is what the film is to reveal in the final act.

When the film posters released, I already lost interest in this. Because those imitating posters of other famous films were totally unimpressive. Beside, those kind of idea is old, not anymore fun and I'm tired of them. This is a below average film, but a decent B movie. The production was top notch, but the film did not deliver with the same standards. The twist was good, in the end, it was very common. If you are okay with a simple and silly concept, then this would do just fine.

It felt kind of like 90s humor, which I prefer to the most common humor style today (e.g. body/sex humor). It has some slight nods to John Wick. I enjoyed it, though it is a pretty silly story!

Their skits can vary wildly in quality (and laughs), but when they do get it right it's comedy assured of future classic status. Will Keanu be considered a classic comedy in years to come? No, it won't.
What it is is a comedy skit idea that has been stretched out to just about fill 90 minutes (plus credits etc), and as such has massive gaps between the real laugh out loud moments.
The film's narrative doesn't make a huge amount of sense and while the acting is (on the whole) very good, it's very clear who the 'stars' of the movie are, and who are there to provide the background as and when the story needs to move forward.
The idea would have worked better if it was made as an hour long (including adverts) Key & Peele comedy special on the Comedy Central network.
It's something to watch, if it pops up on television in a couple of years.... But not something to track down and pay to watch!

I LOVE Key and Peele, but this felt more like a single episode of their show painfully stretched out into a whole movie. There weren't nearly enough laughs for the length of the movie.

The cat, though, was really adorable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had heard many things about this film prior to me seeing it. I had heard that it was one of the best comedies to come out in years but I'm just going t say "I don't get it". It is not the worst comedy that I had ever seen but I do not see how people see this as one of the best comedies in recent memory. I have not seen a Key and Peele comedy sketch but just based on this film alone it, there style appears unimpressive. The main problem with the film is that it appears to have an inconsistent tone. The film is marketed as a goofy buddy- comedy but there are some instances when the tone gets serious especially during a scene when the protagonists are trying to negotiate with the gang leader Chedder about negotiating a deal to get Keanu. In fact it is surprising to see the characters taking the plot seriously in a film with such a ludicrous premise. The parts that were even supposed to be funny didn't really get a laugh out of me aside from the George Micheal's ad Matrix dream sequence. There was even a subtle homage to the matrix by even having the same color palate as those movies. Aside from that it doesn't really have that many laughs. It is no where near as bad as some comedies like the Friedberg and Seltzer
parody movies and the jokes do have a punch it just wasn't my sense of humor.

Keanu is a disappointment, the laughs do not hit more regularly and after a while it loses pace and care. Cliche and formulaic, but viewers knew what they were getting into from the trailer. It wasn't anything special, but it definitely was entertaining enough for a mediocre rating.

A bit of a nothing comedy. Some funny moments, but what saves this movie from being a complete disaster is the chemistry between Peele & Key.
