This film is surprisingly funny.The film is not as bad as I think it is.It's a fun generic comedy film with a generic plot but because of the characters and the how stupid the premise is makes the film good but not great.It's over the top butThis film is surprisingly funny.The film is not as bad as I think it is.It's a fun generic comedy film with a generic plot but because of the characters and the how stupid the premise is makes the film good but not great.It's over the top but in a good way.the chemistry of the leads is spot on and the kitten is the coolest kitten ever seen.

Yes,it's not a great film of course but it's not terrible.It's funny but sometimes it can be unfunny,cheesy or corny.But because is a well executed and ridiculously funny film.This is apparently a good comedy film in general.… Expand

Those of us who have been missing the brilliant comedy and trenchant social commentary of the much-love, recently-ended TV show are going to be THRILLED by "Keanu"; and those who do not know the show will instantly become devotees as the result of seeing this film. The storyline follows the adventures of the title character--THE most adorable kitten eve to grace the silver screen--and all those who fall in love with Keanu, from gangsta thugs to the audience itself, which quickly starts to love the kitten. Our two totally assimilated Black heroes, Rell (Jordan Peele) and his cousin Clarence (Keegan Michael Key) take on bad-ass gangta personas to recover Keanu from its series of captors, especially the evil Cheddar (played by Method Man). It is all riotously good fun! The brilliance of the film lies, however, in it innumerable layers of movie history refereneces, the absurdist play on action film tropes, and the irony of its social commentary. Keanu is hilariously funny, intelligent, surprising...and I laughed my head off throughout the entire film. This film has something for everyone. Let me preface this pan by stating that I'm a big fan of Key & Peele. I've enjoyed every episode of their Comedy Central series. In this big screen effort, they play 2 regular guys who infiltrate the gangsta world to retrieve a pet kitten.Let me preface this pan by stating that I'm a big fan of Key & Peele. I've enjoyed every episode of their Comedy Central series. In this big screen effort, they play 2 regular guys who infiltrate the gangsta world to retrieve a pet kitten. Yes, it sounds like there's potential for silly business, but what's results is just dumb. Their alternate characters are trite variations of street thugs they've played before and the conceit gets old pretty quickly. Even with this absurd concept, the humor is seldom wacky (and Will Forte's drug dealer is especially embarrassing). Worst of all, the whole effort tries too hard and is rarely funny. This is basically one of their TV sketches dragged out 90 minutes longer than the concept holds up. A sad disappointment.… Expand

This movie was, unfortunately, pretty mediocre. I did laugh a few times but not nearly as much as I expected. I do love Key and Peele's short clips but their humor got stale pretty quickly in this hour and a half long movie.

Keanu was written by the cowriters of key and peel. Through their work in telivision this film is a momentusly well written movie for ciniphiles. I was beyond happy with it. I can only wish the rest of the world agrees with our take on the film

Hilariously over-the-top and ridiculously fun, Keanu is one blast of a movie. I enjoyed every minute of it and had a smile on my face through the entire runtime. Key and Peele are comedic geniuses and knock it out of the park with Keanu. HasHilariously over-the-top and ridiculously fun, Keanu is one blast of a movie. Has some pacing issues, but other than that I really, really loved it. Definitely a movie that is very rewatchable. And I know it's what everyone has been saying, but Keanu truly is the cutest cat I have ever seen.

If you like Key & Peele. This is the most funniest movie you will see this year. If you are okay with Key & Peele then this will still be the most funniest movie you will see. A Key & Peele skit stretched out to movie length. While it is stretched a bit too thin in some areas, the talented duo are able to squeeze enough jokes out of the concept to keep things entertaining. It's just that some gags go on for a bitA Key & Peele skit stretched out to movie length. While it is stretched a bit too thin in some areas, the talented duo are able to squeeze enough jokes out of the concept to keep things entertaining. It's just that some gags go on for a bit too long.

The plot is about two average dudes pretending to be gangsters in order to go on a drug run and get their cat back. From there all sorts of craziness ensues. In order to provide enough laughs to keep things going, we have to stick with jokes a little too long. An extended drug sale involving a cameo by Anna Faris (playing herself)is one such example. Really it's just a chance for the two to use some cruder R-rated humor that they couldn't on their Comedy Central show. It also a chance for them to use some gritty and surprisingly well-shot action scenes as well. Both are used to good effect and make for a pretty funny movie.

If you like Key & Peele on TV then you should like this movie. It's basically just an 1hr 40min, R-rated Key & Peele sketch. A pretty funny one at that with one heck of a cute cat. It's a one joke idea and it shows, but works well enough thanks to it's talented leads to make it worth a watch. Particularly for Key & Peele fans.

Necessary comedic punch-up aside, "Keanu" is still a consistently entertaining buddy film and a firm step in the right direction for both Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. Keanu starts out rather bland, but 15 minutes in and there is non-stop laughter for the next 45 minutes. The last half hour of the film have a few extremely funny parts as well. When I first heard about Keanu, a feature film debut for the comedy duo Key & Peele I was very excited because I love the show. Key & Peele have consistently shown that they are clever comedians, and Keanu only serves as further proof of their talent. Keanu is often funny, mostly because of the infectious chemistry of it's leads, despite a few narrative weaknesses. Perhaps the most impressive thing about Keanu is the originality of the jokes, in a day and age where comedies are typically very lazily made.
A lot of comedies today are like modern horror movies, they are extremely lazily made and not very good at what they are supposed to do. Keanu features some very clever jokes that are really funny, and border on being hilarious. Some of the jokes fall flat, and this isn’t the funniest comedy I’ve ever seen, but a lot of the jokes are funny, and original. The movie is at it’s best when the two main characters are on the screen, as their chemistry is electric.
The biggest selling point of this film is Key & Peele, because those two comedians have proven to be hilarious, and are even better when they are together. The two main characters, played by Key & Peele, are the obvious focus of the film, as every other character in the film is clearly an afterthought. Given how the story progresses it’s easy to care about the two main characters, but all other characters lack the same depth, making the clear focus of the film Key & Peele, but sacrificing quality in the process.
While the film is clever, somewhat original, and often funny it also has a few too many plot holes. Like most comedies today, the story of Keanu was written simply to tie a long list of jokes together, and because of that it feels weak. There are multiple moments where the cleverness that was infused in the jokes, is abandoned for the story. The film’s story is also not as original as the jokes, as the story feels at least a little like Taken.
All-in-all the jokes are what matters in this film, as many, if not all, who see this movie will see it for the humor and not the story. The jokes are clever, fairly original, often funny, and don’t fall short very often. For those who like Key & Peele, this movie will not disappoint, and may even exceed expectations. If you like their style, or if you like funny movies, this movie is definitely for you.… Expand

Funny, entertaining, and well-written... I was hesitant having read some of the reviews but I enjoyed this movie. I often enjoy Key and Peele's skits so I thought this might be pretty good and it was great. If you enjoy movies like RUSHFunny, entertaining, and well-written... I was hesitant having read some of the reviews but I enjoyed this movie. I often enjoy Key and Peele's skits so I thought this might be pretty good and it was great. If you enjoy movies like RUSH HOUR; 21 JUMP STREET; or MONEY TALKS; like screwball crime capers but with a solid plot, intense momentum, and witty dialogue, check this one out.

I rarely laugh at anything but thought this one was funny and enjoyable. I highly recommend it for a good few laughs.… Expand

If you're thinking about why I'm giving it a 4, it's because it's a comedy. No point taken, but every single wide movie that's getting released today is a comedy (Ratchet & Clank IS one). Besides, who couldn't resist seeing Keanu get catnapped?

If you like Key & Peele, "Keanu" is just for you. It's very funny, consistently so, and the acting is notably great. Lots of pop culture references that really work.
