This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Jurassic World, though not even stand close to the giant shoulders of it's progenitor, Jurassic Park, delivered in a way I had not expected it to. It successfully acknowledged the impact of the original film and I feel Director Colin Trevorrow understood that he would never be able to recapture that feeling of awe and wonder the original instilled in our hearts (the scene where the Brachiosaurus stands on it's two hind legs and grabs food from the tree springs to mind) and so instead chose to create a more modern installment to the Jurassic Park franchise.

Though at first I thought the Indominous Rex was an unnecessary addition to the film, I did eventually come to understand what significant role it played as part of the franchise, adding a modern element to the Dinosaurs (having been utterly genetically engineered) by reckless science in tandem with the massive modernization (and even futurism) of the facility itself.

The Human characters themselves were utterly arbitrary additions and generally this film lacked in any kind of solid plot or good storytelling. This was a film built for spectacle and on that front, it certainly delivered.

All in all, this wasn't a bad film but I would recommend leaving your brain and your expectations at home if you're planning on watching it.

I can't consider myself to be a fan of such kind of films, but I think that it is quite nice and enjoyable. The only thing missing is the interesting plot, but the dinosaurs and effects make it look really good.

It wastes talented actors and has ridiculous plot holes, but "Jurassic World" provides the most important thing an action-packed summer blockbuster needs to provide: entertainment!

Placed under any level of scrutiny, its quality as a film deteriorates rapidly. The plot is questionable and it does nothing not already seen in the original Jurassic Park. However, it really, really delivers in the entertainment category. Ultimately, film is supposed to be entertainment and this film entertains. It is a ton of fun for the whole family, provides numerous thrills and a ton of nervous excitement as the situation down in Costa Rica takes a turn for the worse due to the humans being stupid and selfish. The human drama placed into the film is idiotic and never really works on any level, but damn, there are a bunch of really cool dinosaurs that attack and eat people. The special effects are impeccable, Chris Pratt makes a case for being one of the strongest leading men right now with a decent acting performance that was best in the one category that matters, charisma. Jake Johnson was also great and a showstealer at times. The characters were pretty dumb, sure, but I don't know, I kinda dug Jurassic World. I feel dirty and hypocritical, but watching dinosaurs eat people is a ton of fun. Expand

(I saw it in 3d with a significant number of other people, but not at an IMAX, or other particularly impressive screen, and the sound setup was merely decent there. ) This is the kind of movie that is all about the spectacle, and has a very mediocre script. That said, the acting is actually pretty good, especially Chris Pratt, but including the others, which makes it all the more unfortunate they didn't spend a tiny portion of their budget to make sure they could get a good script. I'm sure that for a few million they could have easily hired a few great writers to bang out a script that would have had it rise above this mediocrity. Obviously they didn't need to, seeing its success, but I think it hurts the brand long term, as people tire of pure spectacle in the same universe.

This movie was about as good as I expected it to be, but was let down strangely enough by the spectacle itself. I will say that it is a good rendition of the Jurassic Park concept, and the effects are mostly very well done, but it seemed to lack the grandeur to make it a truly spectacular experience, and thus could not make up for the 'story'. It is an enjoyable movie, but it is not particularly worthy of recommendation. If someone is going to love this movie, I'm sure they already know it, otherwise, it is a decent way to spend a couple hours, if you have some cash to burn, and nothing else to do.

While the movie is good for nostalgia it unfortunately fails to deliver anything we haven't already seen. The original movie is still holds the crown even twenty two years later.

"Here's another movie about dinosaurs with the exact same story as the one movie you loved as a child; Jurassic World (Park). It even got Chris Pratt in it. Feed us with your money now"

First of all; it's not as great as the original, but it still manages to inspire some magical feelings. The first half really felt beautiful, natural and really touching, even though the whole movie is a big cliché with the military and their interest in science. The combination with the great soundtrack made the movie great though. I really enjoyed the first half of the movie, much backstory and build-ups. The second however; well the action is a bit lame and it didn't really feel that exciting as I wanted it to be. The climax could have been much better too! But I still enjoyed it. Another great aspect is the CGI, much details and really well done! But some objects looks unreal and just bad.

Even though I did enjoy this movie, are there a massive amounts of flaws! First of all is the over-spoiled trailers. There could have been so much more unexpected events in this movie is they hadn't shown as much as they did. Damn trailers, they even made the movie predictable! The fact-based dialogs are another aspect; some are way too forced to the audience like "let's just tell them the fact without even revealing it character to character". There're also those annoying shaky-cams, we want to see something, not nothing! The action is as mentioned not as great as it could have been and there're no feeling to it either; it's hard to get thrills with dinosaurs. There are also some silly and unnecessary events that's just annoying, not to mention the unnecessary subplots with the main characters, so boring.

So yeah, this really is an over-hyped summer-flick, that might not be overrated but it still got its flaws. The biggest problem lies with the dinosaurs itself, it's just a bigger animal in my opinion that just happens to eat everything, and fight other big animals. That's not really anything "that big". There's one scene in this movie that got two really big dinosaurs fighting with each other, you can't really feel the intensity and the thrills of it. You can't feel compassion to them.

Even though it got its flaws did I actually enjoy Jurassic World; especially the bloody action-sequences, the main characters and the build-ups. Jurassic World was exactly as what I expected it to be like; over-hyped but still great to watch.

I am so disappointed that this movie wasted so much time dragging me through their drama only to eventually reach the third act and literally throw them in the back of a truck and forget about them. When the dinosaurs actually do make appearances I was very impressed. The story was ridiculous and unbelievable and I loved it. The final few scenes would have scored a 20/10 and that is the only reason this can get a 7. The first half (4/10), the second half (10/10). I would say gut through the first half and you will be rewarded. Expand

It can? Wow! Jurassic World is an absolute thrill ride from start to finish, with a great script, great performances, great music, great visuals, this is certainly a worthy entry to the Jurassic Park franchise. The Script is great, very tense but also very funny at points, although the focus is slightly cloudy at points I can overlook this, the performances by, yeah everyone are great, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard give strong tense performances, Vincent D'Onofrio is great as the film's primary antagonist, Irrfan Khan and B.D Wong shine throughout the film, and even Jake M. Johnson and Judy Greer give stunning performances in their rather limiting roles, but I think it's Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins who really shine here, their roles are simply the run away from the big dinosaur roles, but they turn them into something deeper and more interesting, this is without a doubt the best cast in Jurassic Park history (just a shame there's no Sam Neill). As for direction, it's great, Colin Trevorrow did a great job in recapturing the feeling of amazement of watching Jurassic Park for the first time, although personally I prefer Spielberg's direction in Jurassic Park and The Lost World, and even Johnston's direction in Jurassic Park III, but it's still first class direction. Summing up (finally), Jurassic World is a worthy addition to the franchise, hell I'd say it can compete with the 1993 original, but for me, that film will always reign supreme. Fast, Fun, and Epic, the cast and crew have really captured a certain type of awesome that hasn't been seen for about 22 years, nice one guys! Expand

Not that this line tears down the entire movie, but the dialogue is so mediocre in this movie it makes me wanna punch myself. Thankfully, that's not much of a problem, as this movie delivers stable performances from Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Vincent D'Onofrio (funny enough these guys already played different Marvel characters) and offers enough narrative thrills to entertain. I gotta say though, there are some dumb people in this film. The guy near the end who opened the van's door when the raptors were on the loose? Yeah, why the hell did he do that? Anyway, this is really a solid movie and I would recommend to anyone who's a fan of monster movies or Jurassic Park trilogy.

I was anticipating this movie everKeep in mind before you read this review that i have been a fan of all things Jurassic ever since the very first movie i love Jurassic Park and even enjoy the two sequels The lost world and Jurassic Park 3. I was anticipating this movie ever since it was announced. I waited in excitement for the trailers and even freaked out in excitement when the 30 second teaser was released. So when this movie was finally released i was one of the first people in line to see it. And for the most part i really enjoyed this movie the acting was good for the most part particularly by Chris Pratt and even the two younger siblings i thought did a good job. I thought that the love story was a little forced but to be honest it was such a small part of the actual movie it didn't matter to me. And the dinosaurs were awesome. The cgi has come such long way that they looked real. And it was amazing to see the park finally open in all its glory. Which brings us to a very important part of the movie. The Indominous Rex I thought that the Indominous Rex was awesome and added a new and interesting twist to the Jurassic Park franchise. Some people complained that they thought this was more of a monster movie than a Jurassic movie however i have to disagree i thing that this movie was a good ending note the the Jurassic franchise and i am glad that the position this movie holds no longer belongs to Jurassic Park 3

This movie had a lot of positives and a good fair negatives but over all i had a lot of fun with this movie and give it a 8 out of 10.

Experience the new casts to make new story, they really nailed it. I love all the casts. The action from the characters and also the dinosaurs, really dream comes true. It's even better than Age of Ultron *I must say*. Why? the antagonist character has the same weakness plot, that really easily defeated. But, the way the whole movie gave a strong performance, really COOLER than Age of Ultron. It makes me think of LEGO MOVIE. #awww *Lego Movie should win the oscar, sorry, Baymax!*
When kids came to the cinema, they really remember the whole story from first to end, and it really meant for children, nothing really adultery scenes, which means the movie succeeded to enchant the children. As we, the former fans from our childhood, me, I would say this is great. But of course, so many flaws.
For me, people should respect the second movie of Jurassic Park: The Lost World. Nothing can beats how adventure the second movie, not even two movies after can beat it. It is true that Jurassic Park, the first one was the most amazing movie until now, but the thrill and the dark things, the second one really nailed it. After that, I must say: Jurassic Park was meant for just duo-logy and nothing else.
So, basically Jurassic World is very fine, and watchable, but for once, it's too many flaws. It deserved the box office, it's better than Avengers. It defeats how not very attractive the third movie, but even though the third movie really gives great story behind the abandon two islands!
I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THESE ISLANDS, FOR GOODNESS SAKE! Let's stop make any park or everything, just digging more about the horror and mystery, that might be, might be can effect world civilization.
About the ending *Spoiler Alert*
The doctor was flew with InGen and it meant for there will be a chance to make another dinosaurs of the another place... it could very dangerous. It gives me a hint that one day, the dinosaurs will rule the world, like...Planet of The Apes *HAHAHAHAHAHA*
Because they keep talking about how intelligent they all have become, I'm afraid if the doctor will put chimpanzee DNA to do experiment. #LOL
So, well, the action, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, and Ty Simpkins were really dream team! We really enjoyed it.

Filled with WOW moments and callbacks to the 1993 Spielberg directed film (Dr. Wu is back, the night vision goggles, the same jeeps), as to say "move over JJ Abrams there is a new Spielbergian in town and he ain't Gareth Edwards !". This should be the sequel we've been waiting for right ? well that just depends on YOUR expectations. For me though personally the B-Movie story and the pseudo science behind the new (not really a) dinosaur is terribly ludicrous making Jurassic World another casualty to the phrase "Leave your brain at the door". But that doesn't mean it's not "fun" at least in some parts, Chris Pratt plays Raptor wrangler Owen Grady who (along with his raptors) acted as the glue that held this monster of a movie together since the other characters (with the exception of Masrani and Dr. Wu) were badly written. Even Bryce Dallas Howard couldn't make her part believable because her character was the typical "i'm a stuck up business person that tries to suppress my human emotions" then toward the end becomes "i'm no longer stuck up because my emotions were brought out by the plot happening and now i'm in love with Owen even though there was almost no buildup to the relationship". I will reluctantly give a pass to the child actors in this movie even if their reactions to some situations were questionable and the out of nowhere "our parents are getting divorced" conversation that didn't go anywhere was random like most of their dialogue. But we can't pay attention to that because obviously the 4 writers of this movie didn't because the kids were created so that the audience could go with them and see the attractions of Jurassic World and that's a somewhat justification. The not too shabby 3D and the D-box seat I was in made the film more enjoyable amplifying the experience of it's strengths, the sound and the effects. Overall, It wasn't as great as the hype machine made it out but it's not as dreadful as the last 2 sequels making this movie a brass knuckled gut-puncher with the inscribed words "It's Alright" embedded into your stomach like so many summer blockbusters before it. I'm not going to say that this film is better than the original because there is so much material that is inspired by the first film. Many characters resemble the classic characters in the original film and there are several shout outs to the 1993 classic throughout the film. Chris Pratt said that this film was a film made by a Jurassic Park fan for Jurassic Park fans and that could not be anymore true. The dinosaurs look great, and the action is so outstanding that I had my popcorn finished before the movie was halfway done. Chris Pratt offers a bit more star power than this franchise is used to and he proves that 2014 was not a fluke for him. He does not show the level of humour that he had in Guardians of the Galaxy but he is still very funny and he grabs your attention in his scenes. Bryce Dallas Howard was also amazing and I really enjoyed her performance. There are also great supporting cast characters like Vincent D'Onofrio and the comedic relief Jake Johnson. What prevents a perfect score for me is the overuse of the original films magic and I found that the two young boys in the film take up a little too much of the screen time and although by the ending you can tolerate them, they are kind of irritating for the first few minutes. If you get an opportunity to see Jurassic World in theatres take advantage of it because it could be the blockbuster of the summer. Expand

While of course the VFX are killer, so unfortunately is much of the dialogue. While some is necessary, too much silly expositional dialogue which all these huge Hollywood blockbusters have nowadays more than ever really detracts from any seriousness and suspension of disbelief. The basic story is sound with some interesting implications in an over-arching subplot which foreshadows future directions for the franchise. The main problem is the execution while certainly proficient technically, it's ultimately lacking in boldness and real creativity.
Yet again the 3D is lame and doesn't nearly deliver what it could have thanks to the 3D aspect's timid direction and studio oversight, and of all things Spielberg's hesitation to push boundaries these days. The whole industry has the wrong idea about the use of 3D, taking the stance that subtle immersion is the way to go. No dummies, that's called 2D! If we're going to pay a 30% up charge and have to wear the stupid glasses then DELIVER THE FREAKING GOODS!

It took me a while to finally sum up my feelings about Jurassic World: SILLY.

On almost a dozen instances I found myself in the theater with hands out and palms up in confusion, wondering: why is this in here? The movie has so many old tropes. You will find yourself rolling your eyes, or shifting in discomfort over the dialogue.

All and all, 2/10 for horrible scripting/plot. 8/10 for plenty of CGI action.

What makes this the best of the sequels; is the fact that it finally offered some cool ideas to the franchise.
You have a dangerous new spliced DNA big bad dinosaur, trained raptors and Vincent D'Onfrio (Full Metal Jacket) as a warmonger who wants to use raptors as a weapon of war. While the "Let them fight!" line from Godzilla is more fitting for Jurassic World. Since it doesn't shy away from dinosaurs battling it out or pan away from the action like Godzilla frustratingly did. This movie is awesome!

Jurassic World is obviously not as good as the original , but still remains a well-acted, visual feast as well as a fun addition and the best sequel to the franchise.

Just this time instead of trying to engineer dinosaurs for science, it's for a tourist attraction. The acting and comedy were okay, but not great. This was very predictable, as it was the average corporation gets greedy, and things go awry, with somebody "evil" who wants to do something "bad" to the main object, then everything is solved and people learned their lesson. Perfect for money, but everyone knows most of those movies suck. I think this movie deserved a 7, but nothing better. Expand

Does it feel re-done and similar yes some of it, but you have to figure they re-visit the island so that figures in, along with some of the original sets from the original movie, that coupled with the same dinosaurs except for a couple new ones. Fast Forward though to new characters who are fun and vivid, and that coupled with non-stop action and cling to your seat kind of fun it still is pure enjoyment and fun to me!! So not the the original's 10 score, but for me really damn close to it. Go into the movie with your eyes open and ready for some hold onto your seat fun and you will be fine!! Expand

It didn't instill the fear in us as much as the first one did, but I honestly don't think it was going for that. I don't really have much to say about it. Though, I must mention before I go any further, there were a few plot points that seemed important that weren't touched upon later in the film that were in the beginning, and it did have quite a bit of movie cliches, but I can forgive it. The plot was interesting, the characters were pretty likable, and, among all of the movies I've seen that have come out this year, this one probably takes the cake as the best one, and the second best Jurassic Park movie. And, mind you, this is coming from someone who has seen the entire series. Overall, it's one of those movies where you loved it, but you don't really understand why. Also, when they made references, I was either like, "OMH I REMEMBER THIS YAY", or "MEMORIES YAAAY". So yeah. Watch it. If you're a fan of the series, you'll like it a lot. Expand

The film focuses on an attempt to bring a new hybrid to the species of dinosaurs, the staff at the park hold it in isolation as it can be dangerous. But obviously, it escapes and that's how the main plot starts.

There are two brothers who attend the park, the older one is Zach (Nick Robinson) and the young one is Gray (Ty Simpkins). We see that Zach has a girlfriend at the start of the film who never makes another appearance later on, nor is she mentioned. Gray, in one scene mentions something about their parents getting divorced, which doesn't seem to be important to the movie's main story.

Once again, character development does seem to be lacking in this franchise. Bryce Dallas Howard plays Claire, who is basically the John Hammond of the film, as she runs most of the park and appears to also be the two boys' aunt. We learn that she has had a history with the main hero, Owen, played by Chris Pratt who, once again, is trying another action role to distance himself away from comedies.

The one thing that trouble's me is Pratt's character, Owen...he is just a typical action hero, we don't learn anything else about him other than the fact that he used to date Claire. But does he have a family? Parents? Brothers or Sisters?? We know he trains certain dinosaurs and treats them like they are zoo animals that need to stay calm.

There are many scenes where we see Chris Pratt riding a motorcycle, shooting various creatures and just basically being the action "badass" for the movie. But is he human? He doesn't seem to be scared. In the original 'Jurassic Park' (1993), Sam Neil's character didn't know what he was doing the entire time, but he survived while protecting two children, and he showed fear, he wasn't some superhero that always showed courage. I found Chris Pratt to be a little bland in this film, but that's not his fault. You want a hero? You got a hero.

There are many familiar action-movie cliches that we see from time to time, such as when a character is rescued by another character and they share a kiss. Or when a character is ready to take action and another character asks how they are going to do it without assistance, then the camera zooms in on their face and they execute a "badass" line to look cool.

The film, like I said above, also relies on nostalgia, we hear the iconic music that was originally composed by the great John Williams, now composed by the equally great Michael Giacchino. This reminds me of when 'Superman Returns' was released in 2006, it had the original theme music and relied on nostalgia to entertain its original audience.

However, I enjoyed the thrills, the special effects artistry and the fact that we once again visit an iconic franchise for the new generation. My only concern is that this did not feel like a necessary sequel, there is no need to re-open a park that once killed people, and you know this may get another sequel giving its enormous box-office success. Is "Jurassic Park 5" really needed?

This gets 7/10. Good summer flick, not sure about re-watchability...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I once said that I didn't think the script would be very convincing. They open up a park and repeat the same mistakes. I'll just put that thought in a little box and put it away. Despite that criticism, the film is great! The script was so and some of the acting could have been more credible, but the real stars of this film are the dinosaurs, especially the raptors. I fell in love with them and hated to see them die. They were the heart of the film. I take solace in knowing that at least the beta survives. Behind the raptors, the Indominus and T-Rex steal the screen. This is a film I greatly recommend for any dino-lover. We don't get very many dinosaur films and this one is a great one to watch. Expand

This movie gets a lot of hate because it is not like the first two ones and it doesn't have the same magical and mystical spirit, but I think it is worthy of the Jurassic name because, as the first two ones, the main point is having a great time and enjoy an adventure film. On that point it perfectly delivers. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World. After 10 years of operation, a new hybrid is created to re-spark visitors' interest, which backfires horribly.

The film's set up is different to the previous sequels that saw our heroes thrown into danger on Site B, the deserted island where dinosaurs roamed freely. Now on Isla Nublar, we see the billionaire John Hammond's vision realised of a safari park families can visit just like Sea World. All is well at first but park director Bryce Dallas Howard and CEO Irfan Khan's misplaced ambitions backfire as their lab designed hybrid, Indominus Rex, escapes. It's then up to Chris Pratt's ex Navy SEAL and his trained velociraptors to bring down the savage beast. Pratt's colleague Vincent D'Onofrio sees the potential in weaponised raptors for military needs. Meanwhile, Howard's two nephews need to survive and make their way back to safety.

The film treats us, the audience, the same way it portrays the on screen visitors of Jurassic World. It knows nothing can re-create that awe inspiring feeling, seeing herds of dinosaurs for the first time, we've seen it all before. We live in a different world from the 1990s. So it's attempt to one up the original park is a disaster and that's the fun part. There are several nods to the original like the safari jeeps and rearview mirror shot, but not once did i feel it was wink wink pandering. The part horror tone and tongue in cheek humour of the previous films are all intact. The effects heavy action sequences were brilliantly shot. Most of the action is centred around the new creature, but there's plenty of fresh ideas left in the tank. The pterodactyls attack was impressive and frightening. The final battle involving the Indominus Rex, a T-Rex, a raptor and a Mosasaurus is worth the price of admission.

There are a few things that bring down my enjoyment of this film. The forced romance between Pratt and Howard doesn't help, neither does the cliche back story of divorcing parents for the two kid characters. Knowing the events that took place over 20 years ago, you would think the park would have more intelligent staff and better weapons for an 'asset out of containment' scenario. At times it's as if training raptors was the only new thing they learned all this time.

Despite those negatives, i had a good time. Going in with low expectations, i was pleasantly surprised and entertained by this latest instalment of the Jurassic Park franchise. Instead of trying to imitate the magic of the first, director Colin Trevorrow and his writing team have delivered a decent sequel that's fun, gripping and well executed.

If you enjoy said Summertime spectacles, you'll love Jurassic World, the Jurassic Park sequel we've been wanting for over two decades. If you enjoy deeply complex plots, political commentary, or lofty character driven historical dramas then you'll pick apart everything about this movie that doesn't compare with "Citizen Kane" or "The King's Speech" (both of which I also happen to like. Heaven forbid people embrace numerous film genres.) The characters are likeable (as always for Chris Pratt), the plot is pretty straight forward, the special effects are great, the music is moving, and apart from the relatively slower intro (it's probably just under half an hour until we see an actual full shot of a dinosaur) the last hour and a half keep you enjoyably entertained. The last 20 minutes alone are, for lack more flowery language, very cool!

Bottom line: Jurassic World is a fun summer film with enough thrills and chills to keep you entertained for just enough time; it doesn't feel too short or too long.

The first act of the film is kinda boring. It's like listening to scientist teaching us biology kind of boring. Lots of uninteresting talk especially about 'in-gen'. To be honest, it's kinda boring. The characters are undeveloped.
Normally, when a supporting cast died or killed in a movie, I would feel either relieve or disappointed. However, the characters in this movie are not appealing.
On the other side, the action scenes are fine. Some scenes are really funny. The park looks beautiful and well crafted.

I thought it was just going to be a copy of Jurassic Park, but it wasn't.

Jurassic Park is one of the greatest movies ever made. Lots of people have mixed feelings for The Lost World, and Jurassic Park 3 is just plain bad. This movie actually has spirit, and it doesn’t try to top the 1993 classic.

As I just stated Jurassic Park came out in 1993. The movie came out over 20 years ago.The accident happened 22 years ago. And it looks like billionaire Josh Hammond’s dreams of the park have officially come true. Jurassic World is now fully operational, and full of dinosaurs.

The park has been mastered for a while now, and it’s extremely popular. The park is a success, the crowd is having fun (kind of). Why Kind of? It seems like the crowd is… used to dinosaurs. So Dr. Henry Wu and fellow scientists create the Indominous Rex (this obviously backfires).

While the film is very different to the original, the narrative is very similar. Many people are comparing this film to Jurassic Park, but I don’t think that’s fair. After all this is a Hollywood Blockbuster. Like Godzilla and Pacific Rim, I think you should walk in knowing it’s a monster movie.

How was the Chris Pratt training Raptors scenes? Not perfect, but better than expected. How was the CGI? I think the CGI was good. There were a lot of moments where you could tell that it was CGI, but it didn’t bug me as much as I thought it would. How was the 3D? The 3D was fine. While it’s not necessary to watch this in 3D, it definitely doesn’t take away from the experience (see it in IMAX though).

I thought the acting was good. Chris Pratt knocks it out of the park once again. As I stated in the weekend box office article, this man is a star. You can tell just with the $200M plus money it did domestically opening weekend. Bryce Dallas Howard is pretty good. I think she did a really great job with what she was given.

The only character that comes back from the original Jurassic Park is B.D. Wong playing geneticist Henry Wu. Like, Bryce Dallas Howard she/he’s not perfect but for what he was given he was good. Vincent D’Onofrio was Ok, he was a little bit too over the top, and sometimes annoying, but then again he is VERY over the top in Daredevil (great show).

So, is this movie worth it? Yes, the movie is definitely worth it, it’s one of the funnest movies of the year so far. The movie is fun, it’s actually pretty intense and at times very suspenseful. So if you have not already (you probably have, I’m a little late) go watch this film.

Overall, Jurassic World has spirit, fun, it’s aware of what it is, and I think that if you go see this movie, you will have a lot of fun.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You know, I admit I was skeptical before going to see this movie, simply because of the fact that the previous sequels were terrible. But I was pleasantly surprised. Better plot, better acting, better direction. The characters were believable, the kids were as likeable as Lex and Timmy were in the original. It is what you expect from Steven Spielberg. I was wondering if they were going to include a cameo by any of the characters from the original, and they did, although it was a minor character. Remember the smug Asian scientist in the lab in the first one, who said, "Are you implying that a group composed entirely of females will...breed?" He is in this one also, 22 years older, still working in the lab. Lots of references to the original movie that felt nostalgic. I also noticed that some scenes must have been filmed at Universal Studios (This was a Universal movie) - we just returned from vacation during Spring Break where we visited Universal Studios, and we immediately recognized the long, steep escalator that takes you from the lower level where the JP ride is, to the upper level where the rest of the park is.

I did count about 3 plot holes, but what's a JP movie without plot holes, right? However, these were easy to ignore, and I didn't think about them until after we left. [SPOILER ALERT!]
They are as follows:
1. When the kids replaced the dead, corroded, 22-year old battery on the old gas Jeep, what did they use, another dead, corroded, 22-year-old battery?
2. When they discover the field full of dead Diplodoci, apparently killed for sport by the Hybrid, looking like the buffalo from Dances with Wolves, did each dinosaur patiently wait his turn to be attacked and killed, instead of fleeing, seeing how much time and effort it would take to kill each one? They're not going to die from being scratched in passing. Something caused them to drop all at once in the same place. Was the Hybrid using a machine gun?
3. When the boys' mom was crying while talking to her sister, she seemed really upset that the boys were left alone, saying that the older boy could be "really mean" - except we never see any evidence of this throughout the movie, and in fact he seems to be like a pretty normal teenager for the whole movie, changing from "disconnected" to compassionate toward his brother by the end.

I also noticed that the boys' mother had a bizarre relationship with her sons - she doted heavily on the younger son, giving him more respect (in fact, when we are first introduced to him, I assumed the son was autistic or something, because the mom was giving him "extra-special attention"). At the same time, she was treating her teenage son like crap, being condescending to him, treating him like a 3-year old and giving him no respect. I felt sorry for him. No wonder he wanted to bury himself in earphones and switch off to the world. Also the matter of the parents seeking divorce was never really addressed. For those who read Michael Crichton's original book, we knew that Lex and Tim's parents were divorced (or seeking a divorce), but it was never mentioned in the movie, and the kids certainly never shed any tears over it.

On another note, as a creationist, I had to ignore all the references to "millions of years ago" and the implication that dinos turned into birds (not physically possible, but that's another story.)
. But I was otherwise impressed with this movie, and It even received an ovation at the end. So if you just want a "fun" movie, go see it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is honestly the best movie I have ever seen! And I am a big fan of the other JP movies! Chris Pratt was awesome and so was the rest of the cast. My only complaint is how unrealistic it was, like when Owen was riding his motorbike in the bush with raptors running along side him, and there were no bumps...in the bush...COME ON!!!! But that aside it was extremely entertaining. Although, it is probably not suitable for younger audiences. I am 14 years of age and did not find it at all disturbing. It did not show anyone get eaten but did show blood. Overall this is a truly terrific movie that does the original Jurassic park proud. Expand

To be fair, this movie exceeded my expectations. I was expecting a bad movie. Was it bad? no. was it good? no. I'd say it was Okay. Chris Pratt and Ty Simpkins carries this movie. Those two are fantastic and are the spotlight of this film.

The story had came off as something new which got me excited, but resorted to be on the same track as Jurassic Park. It may have been a new movie, but lacked the understandable story line. The cast of this film was pulling their entire weight and succeeded only by the great role Chris Pratt had performed. The film seemed a little bit away from being a worthy reboot, but if the film tried to be something new and original at the same time I would talk more about. Expand

However, Bryce Dallas was very annoying and unappealing in this movie. For half of the movie while she is being chased and tossed around by killer dinosaurs, her hair stays perfectly blow-dried and styled as she minces around in stiletto high heel shoes. And then by the end of the movie we're supposed to believe that's she's somehow transformed into a Sigourney Weaver type of heroine who brandishes a military gun as well as a marine?

Hated her in this movie and the ten pounds of makeup and lipstick and hair spray she was coated with. It's similar to television shows or movies in which women in full makeup roll out of bed that way or go to sleep that way, when in reality it took a team of professional stylists two hours to apply all that heavy foundation, lipstick, false eyelashes, eye liner and mascara and concealer to their mugs. Would have been a better movie if a dinosaur gobbled her up in the first half hour!

To all who question Jurassic World's plot, meaning, references, & ect.... Are those who are a 1 sided brain person who either can't comprehend or try understanding the point being made. If you hate it, own up to it. Also, speaking of JP. It's the the same T-rex from the 1st film. CGI: could of been better for Rexy but, production already had more pratical affects, then JP1. Also, CGI is not everything / just as video game graphics. Ex: OG mario vs The order 1886. Also, how a *stage* would be set up, racing games are graphically superior with room need compared to something like Eso or skyrim that have a huge size but lowered graphics / / as compared to Godzilla being that racing game and Jurassic World being skyrim. Before you starting to throw rocks at me, here is the only reason why i think this movie is the best in the series (including the original) - simply because it is superbly entertaining.

The first film had a groundbreaking special effects, and the first hour or so was amazing, but when the shix hit the fan, it wasn't so exciting anymore. I always believed the human characters were weak in the first movie, although actors and acting were very solid, somehow for me second part of the movie was simply boring. Yes. Second movie was the worst Steven Spielberg's movie yet, even Steven Spielberg have admit it. The third was OK, better then 2nd by a mile.

That said, "Jurassic World" should have been the true sequel to the original. It is bigger, louder and more entertaining - everything that a good sequel must have. Special effects in here are truly special, i don't see any movie this year who could steal the best special effects Oscar from "Jurassic World" - they aren't groundbreaking, but they are truly spectacular. Acting was very cool, as well as cinematography and very solid directing. Now i kinda see why this guy will helm one of the new "Star Wars" movies, which about i was skeptical before seeing "Jurassic World".

Overall, "Jurassic World" is a highly entertaining movie. Best of all is to see it with friends on the biggest screen possible, it is a helluva entrainment, not a perfect one, but the best from this franchise yet.

This time around Spielberg was not only faced with the task of making this one better than the last but it also had to be good enough to draw attention away from the previous two movies and help the audience mend the mental scars that they had left behind.
Spielberg set on a quest to create something that would make the Jurassic Park fan base happy. With the new advances in technology since the other movies had been made, primarily CGI, this task was easily accomplished and provided an array of dinosaurs that were stupefying in composure and more realistic than one could have predicted. With a few key actors in the movie such as Chris Pratt, the movie instantly had a good amount of viewers anxiously waiting to see his most recent performance and determine how it stacked up to his other works. What makes the movie even better, depending on how you look at it, they even provided a little bit of romance as well as the family aspect in order to broaden the intended audience and attract even more viewers. As for the inevitable dinosaur throw down that is the main reason why people choose to watch these movies, Spielberg definitely follows through and delivers an amazing display of a dinosaur-death match. In all, the film has its high points also followed by lows but it delivers in the important parts that were vital in creating a good film.

It has been 22 years since Jurassic Park ushered in the modern age of computer generated imagery, becoming the first motion picture to use the then-cutting edge special effects technology to astound and amaze us. Director Steven SpielbergIt has been 22 years since Jurassic Park ushered in the modern age of computer generated imagery, becoming the first motion picture to use the then-cutting edge special effects technology to astound and amaze us. Director Steven Spielberg allowed us to believe that dinosaurs were real. Repetition made the second Jurassic Park installment, 1997's The Lost World, a step down and Universal's decision to cut the budget for the third movie, 2001's Jurassic Park III, seemingly put an end to the saga. However, after a 14-year gap, the T-Rexes, velociraptors, and their ilk are back. With Spielberg executive producing and Colin Trevorrow behind the lens, it's time to again return to a universe where amber-encased prehistoric mosquitoes have made it possible for extinct creatures to roam.

Jurassic World features only one returning character from the original trilogy - BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu - but that's not a drawback. All the necessary types are in place: Chris Pratt's Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire fill the heroic roles, Ty Simpkins' Gray and Nick Robinson's Zach are the annoying kids, Irrfan Khan is John Hammond's successor, and Vincent D'Onofrio is the unappealing military-type with his own agenda. Really, though, the Jurassic Park movies have never been about the human beings, be they Sam Neill's Alan Grant or Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcom. They have been about the dinosaurs. Jurassic World features plenty of call-backs to Jurassic Park (including, I assume, the same T-Rex) but there are no cameos for Neill or Goldblum.

Despite having a slim resume (the quirky indie Safety Not Guaranteed), Trevorrow handles Jurassic World like a pro. He hits all the right notes, giving the two-dimensional characters as much heft as they deserve (which isn't much) and handling the action sequences like a seasoned veteran of Hollywood tent pole features. He references countless other monster movies, including obvious ones like King Kong and Godzilla and less evident choices like The Birds and (especially) Aliens. His style is part Spielberg/part Cameron.

Although this is essentially a big budget monster movie, the filmmakers aren't above a little social commentary/satire. They identify a vexing challenge faced by amusement parks: always having to amp up the thrill level of the attractions to lure back easily bored customers. This could also be seen as an observation about sequels in general and the Jurassic Park films in particular. One T-Rex was enough for the first film. Now, three movies later, we need the bigger, badder I-Rex. Jurassic World also takes some none-too-subtle jabs at corporate sponsorship and borrows from Aliens when reflecting on the military-industrial complex and how the soldier's mindset considers weaponizing dinosaurs.

Composer Michael Giacchino recognizes the importance of embracing John Williams' iconic themes rather than jettisoning them (as was done in Man of Steel). Guacchino gives us not only full orchestral renditions of the most noteworthy music but more subdued interpretations when those are appropriate. The dino-effects, both CGI and animatronic, are superior to those in the earlier Jurassic Park movies but that's not surprising considering how much things have advanced over the years. The 3-D is an utter and complete waste and is best avoided. It exists only because of the Hollywood mindset that all summer blockbusters must be released in 3-D to be considered legitimate.

Jurassic World leaves open the door for future installments but, while this is an enjoyable popcorn experience, it works best as a stand-alone follow-up. Trevorrow and his co-screenwriters deserve credit for milking two more worthwhile hours out of the Jurassic Park idea but there's nowhere else for the concept to go. It's played out. Another sequel would be folly. That's a future consideration, however (likely to be determined exclusively by $$). For now, there's only Jurassic World, which has taken the fossilized remains of a beloved franchise and given it a new life than many doubtlessly thought impossible.
