It had great potential but it doesn't take advantage of it, it's average, watch it if you want to spend some time. Expand

If you like movies like Mission impossible, bourne identity etc, these give the feels of what this movie is. Movies in the late 90s - early 2000s had a more realistic vibe and tech to them which made them more believable but as of late, alot of movies, action especially have scenes that are hokey in parts. This is definitely one of them in certain action scenes but overall, I thought there was a great plot. Political and philosophical thoughts are prevalent after viewing, and the filming locations/setting, which were probably my favorite here, are spot on. Plot was also really good for a weekend action flick. I was truly suprised. Gado is a beauty and as a man who takes a huge liking to her, my 8.5 gets bumped to a 9. Definitely a worth while watch if you like elements of revenge, adventute, coverups and political interpretations. Expand

So a theatrical film may be rated differently as a streaming movie. We can see that Neflix has been at this big scale, straight to to DVD action film for ages and somehow has perfected its formula. It's essentially like going to a restaurant that sells a cheeseburger, the most 'generic' type of food out there but doing it so well that they literally made it better than everyone else in the business. This is what Netflix does. Bigger companies such as Disney that followed this formula end up losing so much money that they will probably lease their content back to Netflix in the future. Getting that out of the way, Heart of Stone is literally a movie that was made by an algorithm, which churned out a mix between Bond, MI, Fast and Furious and all other spy movies as of late, mixed in with Gal Gadot, who is literally a 'female Arnold Schwarzenegger', a charismatic 'performer' who are very adept physically. What you get is this movie and the thing is..I dig it. There is a 'twist' to the whole concept that I liked (where the heroine has a 'dual identity'). The action set pieces are well made and choreographed, and obviously, this is meant as a franchise starter for the streaming giant. Expand

This is a C-tier film, which is probably what you get for Netflix, but it's actually okay considering all the cliches, and has a good moral to the story even if the opening is hypocritical.

One huge mistake, there are no rear sights on the M4 platform weapons, making it impossible to actually provide accurate fire with them. You would expect Gal Gadot to provide input in these scenes because that is unacceptable.

The movie begins with a long, effective action sequence Ala Bond. It world-hops like Bond. It blows things up like Bond. Good acting like best of Bond. Kills deserving villains like Bond. Big technical lair set pieces like Bond. Meaty main villain like Bond. Effective and likable supporting cast like Mission Impossible. Takes off from where Person of Interest TV series left off. The all-seeing AI computer, trying to do good, is built into a franchise premise. Gal Godot working with Skydance producers then take the premise further. For me, Skydance is proving the most reliable content creator of AAA big-budget narratives. Expand

Heart of Stone is allegedly a starter of a new spy thriller franchise, although opinions about this movie vary I personally enjoyed it and would very much like to see the next part.

IN A NUTSHELL:
The story is about an intelligence operative for a shadowy global peacekeeping agency who races to stop a hacker from stealing its most valuable and dangerous weapon. The film was directed by Tom Harper who is a BAFTA-nominated British film and TV director, writer, and producer.
Writing credits go to Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder.

THINGS I LIKED:
Gal Gadot. Am I right? She’s gorgeous, talented, and fierce in this role. It’s hard not to see her as Wonder Woman though.
Glenn Close! Fun reveal! No spoilers.
Everyone in the cast did a fantastic job and includes Jamie Dornan, Alia Bhatt, Sophie Okonedo, Matthias Schweighofer, Jing Lusi, and Paul Ready.
The tech shown in the film is ridiculously cool. It makes that Tom Cruise movie look like child’s play.
Great opening song and rolling credits introduction.
We get to travel around the gorgeous world. I always love that. The beautiful cinematography is by George Steel.
Twists and more twists. I love twists.
Poppin soundtrack.
I love movie titles with multiple meanings. Gal Gadot’s character’s last name is Stone and we definitely see her heart in this film. Heart is also the name of an AI system that several groups are trying to take possession of because it will give them the greatest power in the world.
If you enjoy this, you’ll be happy to know that the ending absolutely leaves an opening for a sequel. THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:
Like all movies these days, all of the heroes are women. The men are either the villains or not as cool or competent as the women.
There are a lot of exciting action sequences, but they’re pretty formulaic.
So many film critics are hating on this movie, but I thought it was a fun diversion. They’re so hard to please sometimes.
While the simplistic set designs aren’t particularly memorable, they do set the tone in each scene.

TIPS FOR PARENTS: Extremely high dead body count.
Various weapons
Tons of violence and fighting

Heart of Stone

This Gal Gadot-led thriller is styled as a James Bond-type action as it cascades from location to location.

Gal Gadot isn't one of the best dramatic actresses, but this is one of her best on-screen acting (her character and acting improve as the movie proceeds). The supporting cast also delivers standard performances.

Heart of Stone is cliché and filled with tropes, but it's entertaining. The storyline isn't grand or fresh, but it is easy to follow, it also avoids being drab by how the action sequences, piling locations, plot twists and callbacks are expertly brought in.

It's quite possible that Gal Gadot has found herself a new franchise to spearhead.
