This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In Halloween Kills, Michael Myers have been blessed with the very most amount of plot armor possible. First he's outnumbered by a hoard of firefighters, but slaughters them one by one, each one waiting for their turn to die. Then he's outnumbered by a hoard of 20+ cocky townsfolk who beat, stab and shoot him to the ground, just to get up and kill them all in the same manner, because suddenly they're all weak scared dummies just taking it. Several times during the movie there's clear opportunities to kill him for sure, but each time they do something moronic instead; a light kick to the head instead of pitchfork in the head, a knife in the shoulder instead of knife in the head, and so on. Plot armor, because he can't die since there's a third movie. This amount of plot armor is just a sign of terrible writing. The acting is terrible, the dialogue is terrible and the entire movie is pointless and doesn't move the "story" forward. Expand

Pretty boring as far as horror movies go, completely moronic characters who practically throw themselves at Michaels knife. I didn't feel a moment of suspense watching this.

Way more fun than the first film. Some of the most over-the-top kills in a slasher in years. Happily surprised how much I enjoyed this!

I have seen all of them several times over and would class this as one of the more middling entries. * Slight Spoilers ahead* Every time they start to go down the supernatural pure evil forces route I lose interest pretty quickly as I find the notion of Michael being simple man and mortal much more compelling. I also noticed that Michael seemed more sadistic in the way that he kills people in this film which seemed out of place with his usual robotic nature. The kills themselves were all great and all you should expect from a slasher movie.
I know a lot of people weren't too fond of the various flashbacks but I personally felt that they added something to the story, especially the first one which obviously fills in a lot of gaps in the narrative. I also personally appreciated the cameo appearances of some of the characters from the original Halloween (78) movie.
All in all I think this entry was a lot weaker than the 2018 entry and I think the decision to go the rote that they chose with the supernatural element spoiled it for me considerably.

Halloween Kills has committed the terrible sin of all the other sequels in this franchise, and what seemed like an incredibly notorious return, fades into a film that at its worst, never gives reasons to justify its existence.

I really believe it was a massive mistake to pick up the narrative right where the 2018 movie ended, because it took out Laurie Strode off the game.
This in its eagerness to give prominence to the people of Haddonfield, who until now had always been stupid victims in Michael Myers' path.
In this one, they still continue being stupid victims, they just put up a little more resistance.

There are a lot worse things about the Halloween franchise, and that by no means exempts all the glaring flaws in this film, but frankly I didn't find it that horrible either.

I've seen things in the genre that are way worse, and Halloween Kills is merely inconsistent and flawed, which is a shame considering all the expectations it created.

I read negative reviews because of the violence that unfolds on screen, but if you're watching a film about an unstoppable murderer, I think it is ridiculous to complain about it.
It's not that it's justified, its own concept revolves around violence.

Taking into account these results I no longer have any illusions about Halloween Ends, but considering that I just read that that film will have a 4-year time jump, it's fair to intuit that at least it will not be as abrupt and empty as this disappointing sequel.

Literally nothing happens because half of the movie is flashbacks. These flashbacks happen from so many people's perspectives and it's recapping in the middle of the movie as if we already forgot who they are and why they are relevant to Myers. But that's just it, they aren't relevant. As far as logic goes, I get that there is a serial killer on the loose, but that doesn't mean that most of the town should be losing their god damn minds. There is like a marathon of people running through the hospital.

I gave it one point for the way Myers creatively kills the victims even though the logic is still out the window. You got a guy in a mask with huge blindspots, walks 3mph, and only kills up close. Meanwhile, you have tons of people with guns that like to shoot at pointblank range.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another pathetic attempt to make a Halloween mean something and falling FLAT! There is nothing believable about 1 single piece of dialogue in this entire movie. Laurie's long monologues contradict everything she says and does later. Every character is wasted. Myers is good but the kills are boring because the characters he kills are basically cartoon characters! The "Mob" isn't believable especially after confusing Danny Devito's stunt double for 7' Myers!? Then the finale is killing a main character that no one cares about anyway, so Myers can finally stand and look out a window? Now I see why this movie was laughed out of Venice Film Festival (it didn't belong there anyway) and the massive PR campaign from JLC to talk about how deep this movie is, surprise it's not deep it's just a pretentious crappy sequel to a money grab reboot. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved this movie, people who hate this clearly don't understand anything! Of course it has flaws like any movie but its not BAD if you really think about it. You have three types of people, people who just want to watch any film for a night out so they choose this and then think wtf?, People who are big fans of the movie who don't care what happens like myself, or fans that are picky and it has to be the way its always been, just remember Michael is pissed. I as a big Michael fan enjoyed this especially for Michael, he is such a badass in this film! I don't really care about the story or who dies but what's to tell?, Michael has a reason he's just wanting to go home. When will people learn, its called Kills for a reason and this is the best I've ever seen him. Laurie also isn't the main character and it gave others a chance to get out there with the unknown, they did not know what they were up against. This is the same night remember so its just what's happening, Laurie is not going to just get up and go after him and run around, (she tried but got injured).

People also need to know that yes people may know Michael is dangerous but they don't know what evil is, they just think this guy is a regular man with a silly mask on not knowing his power, which is probably why they have not cut off his head off, Loomis was the only one saying "I shot him 6 times and he walked off", so without him who's going to think of anything? they are the townspeople, a beat down would teach him or stop him right? wrong as Michael gets back up and shows them rightfully who they are messing with (which is the best part, when he puts on the mask, the music kicks in, Michael is clearly ready for this!), in shock you can see on Tommy's face of what he's witnessing. They are obviously going to keep him alive too, not sure why people were surprised, we already know there will be another film, Halloween Ends will be coming out next year duh! I can admit the hospital scenes were not exciting, some dialogue was cringe but overall it had a meaning, I understand what they were trying to do with this film but again Michael in action just distracted me from all that. But what else do you expect them to do with the story? everybody is getting injured/killed and you have this guy out there killing people its making the situation a big mess in the hospital, town. But yes this film was a big wow for me, I couldn't stop thinking about it when I went to sleep, and even went to watch it again, 3 times now! After that I can say the hospital scenes are boring now but it was good for a first time watch. So if you're a Halloween fan, you should defiantly see the movie, so if you hated the hospital, Michael will make up for it! There are way worse Halloween films than this one!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I walked into the theater to see this movie I was extremely excited with the completion of my Halloween marathon to see the next chapter in this franchise and I was disappointed. the first half of this film is amazing with great suspense and it felt like a lot of care and effort was put into it but the second half was terrible Laurie gets out of her hospital room once in the entire movie. The second half felt rushed and unfished and that's the problem with movies coming out in 2021 they had a lot of time to produce a good chunk of the movie and then covid struck and they had to rush the second half to get it in theaters by October this year to make money. they really milk the plot of the protesters lead by Tommy Doyle and a big chunk of the film is taken place in the hospital and Michael doesn't even step a foot in the hospital in the entire runtime of the movie this movie was made for money to piggyback off the success of Halloween 2018 the movie just gets worse and fells more uncared for as the movie went on. watch it if your a fan of Halloween but otherwise stay away from this film like it is Michael Myers Expand

It's bounds and leaps from the almost perfect film that came before it, and without a single focus to hold on, it's 3rd act stands on wobbly legs. At times the denizens who hunt Michael Myers through the streets of Haddonfield come off as stupid instead of brave and angry, and some of the dialogue sounds hokey, almost ridiculous. It's bloody and nihilistic and tragic, and really, not much else. Regardless of all this, HALLOWEEN KILLS stands as a solid part 2 in David Gordon Green's trilogy, that maybe lacks in some places but **** brings it in others. Excited to see how it all "ends". This movie shows a new Michael... same old wickedness, but a new thirst for blood. he was literally killing everything that crossed his way and who survived got hella lucky. He was thirsty for violence and in the MUCH WORSE ways, i swear it's much worse than in the other movies and he was doing much worse in front of someone who was seeing their loved one being tortured to death... i mean that was SO wicked this man is pure evil!!!!! he NEEDS to be taken down. And that part on the hospital where the man killed himself because all these grown ass ignorants were coming after him... the heaviest one in the movie. just WOW. WHAT A MOVIE. what a great job everyone envolved did.

Michael Meyers still isn't dead and is continuing his killing spree on Halloween night, so Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) her daughter and granddaughter (Judy Greer and Andi Matichak respectively), and the rest of their town and several past survivors band together to try and stop him. I really enjoyed the first installment of this rebooted franchise that was released a few years ago, so I was eager to see how it would continue here. And while it's heavy on gore and kills, as is to be expected, it didn't quite have the same draw as the first film had for me. This one felt a lot more soulless and hollow with not as much of a rooting factor for me this time around. In the first film, seeing three generations of Strodes band together at the end to kick Michael Meyers' ass was one of the most satisfying and awesome things I'd seen in a horror flick in years, and there really wasn't a whole lot of that going here with this one. Instead we get a lot of angry mob scenes and our protagonists aren't as near as effective or as strong in this one. It almost feels like this film decided to just go back to what the retconned sequels were all like: soulless and bloody, which is all fine and dandy, considering this is a 'Halloween' film after all, but it's still a little disappointing to see it fall back on old tricks after how refreshing of a turn the previous film took. But on the flipside, Curtis, Greer, and Matichak are in top form here once again and all three give fierce performances. But overall, aside from the solid three lead actresses, this happened to still be fun and certainly had plenty of creative and gory kills, but it does happen to fall back and rely on old habits a little too heavily for my liking. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don’t have enough words to explain the full depth of how bad this movie is

Okay to start off short it’s a dog **** movie. (Even by halloween standards) Freddy vs. Jason on a skipping dvd would make more sense then this movie. You will leave actually upset you spent money on This train wreck. Watching paint dry is a better experience. It felt like someone skimmed every other sentence about the franchise and has never watched a Halloween movie. Michael has always toed the line of being “immortal” and makes you question it.which is what makes them interesting movies . Whoever made this read “Michael is indestructible”. He starts off by killing firemen with axes 10 on 1 and kills them all unscathed. Which okay BUT THEN GETS KILLED BY A RAGTAG LYNCH MOB AT THE END. AFTER BEING STABBED REPEATEDLY AND HIS NECK BROKE BY TWO SMALL WOMEN. Then he gets up because he’s “a spooky embodiment of evil” and kills the entire group that kicked his ass the first time. There is no consistency.

Literally it feels like a bad AI wrote the script of a Michel Meyers movie. Made no sense loses it’s own plot 3-4 times in the movie and then tried to make a twist where their is no set up. It leaves you frustrated you payed to see it.

It fills your need for nostalgia even more and does a great job at doing what a sequel is supposed to do. Build an icon. The only downside to the movie was the wasted time we spend panning to Jamie Lee Curtis that really is excessive at some points. She does have an awesome monologue at the end where she explains the curse of Michael Myers. If you are not a fan of the first two movies (78 & 81), then I can see how this movie would upset people. In Halloween II, Micheal goes to the hospital to finish his job of killing Laurie Strode. In this movie, you expect the same concept, and the movie instead throws a curveball and doesn't send Michael Myers to the hospital this time which is a double edged sword because we spent a lot of time expecting that, and then falling short. But on the flip side it's a twist that really surprising and unexpected, in an age where all thrillers and horror films are all too predictable. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is a great follow up and middle movie in a trilogy. It's basically the empire strikes back in regards to the conclusion. The bad guy has won and the good guys are down and out for the most part. Anyone complaining about the kill count doesn't get the theme of this movie, this one is about Michael truly showing he is the essence of evil and not to mention he was pissed because he was just set on fire and was "beaten" by Laurie. They do a great job of showing the over confidence of the townspeople which backfires on them badly in the end, just because they have numbers doesn't make it an even fight as you soon see. Wasatch this movie for yourself and keep these things in mind! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m a life long Halloween fan. Ofcourse nothing to me can touch the original. This new film Halloween kills set a new low for the franchise. It’s so bad that it’s worse than the notoriously worst Halloween films that are resurrection, Halloween 5 & the rob zombie remakes. I can’t describe how a whole load of nothingness the film is. The plot non existent. Jamie the lead character has like 10 minutes screen time which was completely cringe. It’s like she turned up for the quick easy money pay day as the reality kicks in that she won’t land a role as big as this any more. The way the movie was shot baffled me, even Halloween resurrection was filmed better. The kills were so frustrating and they didn’t even show them, they shown the final sequence of the film in a slow motion killing spree that left viewers and long term fans wondering what on earth they just watched. The lead characters and the return of a few characters from the original Halloween film seemed forced and quick. They also looked aging and tired, uninspired and lacking that touch that makes an actor today. Some scenes were completely pointless and lead nowhere. Such as the chasing of Lindsey or the chase of the mental patient. The lines were cringe worthy. ‘Evil dies tonight’. The vibe was dead. The film had no soul. The potential the film had was wasted. This would’ve even been a bad television movie if it hadn’t been released at cinemas. Michael Myers didn’t even seem like Michael Myers. No thrill of his appearance whatsoever. It was like it was a copy cat from the retirement home. The music was once again dependant on the music of old.

It’s extremely sad to me that this film had to be shot like this and released. They killed the franchise with this film more than every film after the original together. Don’t support blumhouse. They massacred this film in the wrong way.

Mais violento, mais gore e mais sanguinario que o primeiro filme, esse é um bom filme, apesar da principal protagonista dos filmes do halloween ser deixada de lado

By Far the worst Halloween movie over the top kills trying and hide a poor story. At one stage the town are chasing a mentle patient around a hospital like it was a scene from Benny Hill with or with out a mask never could be confused with Michael Myers hysteria or not. I think its the only time i have watched a movie and wanted the whole town to die. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Worst movie I have seen in my life. It makes no sense. It is so obvious they are milking the character for money. At the end there is no explanation how micheal gets up and seemingly kills 25 people but doesn’t get seen by the women sitting 10 feet away. It is so repetitive and has a horrible story. It makes you wonder what the reason for the movie was. It takes horrible decision making to a whole other level in the stupidest way possible. Expand

I liked it a lot. It was a fitting sequel to Halloween (2018). Critics are complaining about the script- come on **** no one was expecting or wanting it to be The Seventh Seal or Citizen Kane… it’s a fun slasher movie!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie was god awful. My God where to begin the movie from the start was so cringe literally all the way up until the final 2minutes. They didn't use Michael properly at all, it felt more like a Jason movie then Halloween. The only very good thing this movie did was Michael Myers himself and his mask. The town trying to rally was so cringe it was disgusting. I do not recommend this movie what so ever. I wouldn't even watch it on peacock if I where you. Majority of the movie was focused on Tommy trying to rally up the town. Evil dies tonight will ge a new meme. God this was cringe horrible trash. Don't waste your time. Expand

I've seen worse Halloween films, I've seen better, this one kind of is in the middle. The film has some excellent kills and the effects are good. There's no complaints there. And I can appreciate the fact that the films acknowledges the super natural aspect, especially after previous films tried to erase that. My biggest gripe is how incompetent all the characters are. The entire time I was watching it, I was thinking to myself, "Good lord, all of these people are terribly stupid." Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A few interesting death scenes. The bad pacing got a little better as the movie progressed, but too many superfluous subplots, none of which serve a purpose; and the whole story comes across as filler material between I and III. Toward the end there was a laughable attempt at social commentary. At least they (potentially) killed a Strode, if they undo that, it’ll be super lame. It had a few enjoyable moments, especially Big John getting killed. 6.8/10. Expand

There really isn't much of a story here as it largely just deals with the fallout from the ending of the previous film while also setting up the final movie. So don't walk into this expecting much of a plot because you won't get one. What you will get is plenty of satisfying kills and a lot of Michael Myers. That's all I really wanted out of this as it was billed as Michael's revenge and it most certainly delivers in that regard.

Is it as good as the first movie? Well, That all depends on what you are looking for. I appreciate the shorter run-time and the gory kills but it doesn't have the story that really helped elevate the first movie. As a longtime fan, I honestly enjoyed it. It had its flaws but there are far more highs than lows. I think a lot of people will walk away thinking it was one of the better films of the franchise but it is not among the best.

Fact is if I listened to critics then half of the movies that I like that they dont I wouldnt have seen. Halloween Kills is like the Empire Strikes Back in the trilogy in terms of the heroins Laurie and her daughter and granddaughter thinking they got rid of michael myers only for the killer to survive and go on a rampage of revenge. The mob mentality wanting to put a stop to the menacing force that thrives on brutality and murder. I enjoyed it and looking forward to Halloween Ends next year. Expand

THIS MOVIE KILLS!

Halloween Kills is a worthy sequel to 2018's Halloween. If you are going in expecting a fun and kinda chessey slasher film then this is the movie for you. This movie has kills left, right, up and down, and they are brutal. The acting if fine and the characters are ok, but some are not as developed as others. And there are some people in this movie that are straight up dumb, and that's ok every now and then but it does get annoying after a while. There are two issues I have with this movie. 1. Lorie Strode takes a back seat in this movie and was pretty disappointing. 2. Is there is this sub plot involving an escapee that should not have been in the movie it was very dumb. Other than those two issues everything else was great. The kills, like I said are the series best and there are a lot. And another big win is this movie's score it is thrilling and intense in all the right moments. Near the end of the movie is when everything went nuts and it was a blast. The town comes face to face with Michael and it is epic. Last but not least is the cliffhanger ending that may or may not disappoint some viewers. I liked it though. Overall 85/100

An intense, thrilling gore fest that respects the ominous, omniscient nature of Michael Meyers. Great score. Decent story for a slasher. Is it perfect? Of course not but its a solid watch.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie very very brutal. The opening scene with the flashback to 78 was absolutely amazing. When Loomis showed up on the screen I geeked out. Michael Myers in the flashback scenes was spot on. The mask, the movements just overall really loved the flashbacks. Tommy Doyle and Lindsey Wallace were some of my favorite characters. Tommy was such a big part of the movie. Karen really grew on me in this one so it hurt when she died. I loved that Alison and Karen were a big part as Laurie kinda sat back. Only thing I didn’t like was the ending. I loved the scene, it was great, I just don’t thin it it should’ve been the ending. Expand

The word "Brutal" isn't enough to describe how Michael dispatches his victims on this film, the movie is basically a love letter to the original '78 film with some bloody surprises in-between.

Zero plotline. Forced politics which don't even have any ultimate impact on it's "characters" which were written like a Shakespearean High School play. Terrible dialogue, and a nonsensical ending.

Overall the acting from everyone was good (except for a few characters). I enjoyed the kills and I thought that they picked a good message to go along with what they where trying to do. However I feel that they did not do a good job of blending the two together. I also feel that the premise that they had (a town going after a killer) was not utilized to its full potential. In the end, I can't say that I had a bad time with this film but it certainly was not as good or as well put together as its predecessor, Halloween 2018. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Much of the plot line felt extremely deluded and unnecessary, with many scenes making little to no sense. Suspension of disbelief was thrown out the window in numerous sections, and you’ll often think to yourself, “this is ridiculous.” Interesting characters from Halloween (2018) feel watered down and honestly downright stupid at times. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is barely even present in the film, with only about 15-20 minutes of run time focused on her in the ER. — Let’s hope the 3rd film in this Reboot Trilogy brings the Halloween franchise back to glory, because this surely didn’t.
