Villains galore, kudos Michael Rooker. Action packed, filled with laughs, the movie flies by. I must urge you to stay through the credits, because the end scene sets up the 2017 sequel which I wish was showing now! Go see it! If there is only one hilarious, clever sci-fi movie with great characters you will love to love and others you will love to hate, with fantastic FX and a Stan Lee cameo that you will this Summer then see Guardians of the Galaxy!!!… Expand

Went to the early premier for this movie and let me just say WOW. What a great movie. If everyone was as familiar with these guys as they were with the Avengers everyone would say that GotG is a superior movie. I'm not knocking Avengers IWent to the early premier for this movie and let me just say WOW. What a great movie. If everyone was as familiar with these guys as they were with the Avengers everyone would say that GotG is a superior movie. I'm not knocking Avengers I loved it but Guardians has way better effects, locations and as crazy as it may sound better protagonists. From the first time u see Starloard to the first time you get a real feel for where Rocket is coming from ur instantly in love with these dudes. 10/10 Go see it. Highly recommend. A little slow paced (it had to introduce us to a whole new universe + characters) at the beginning, but the camaraderie was spot on and highly enjoyable. I felt like "something was at stake". I loved the FX. My onlyHighly recommend. What a fresh summer blockbuster. Is anyone else getting sick of grimdark heroes gritting their teeth and punching each other in the rain on sets so dark you can't tell whats going on? Right from the opening title sequence you can see thatWhat a fresh summer blockbuster. Is anyone else getting sick of grimdark heroes gritting their teeth and punching each other in the rain on sets so dark you can't tell whats going on? Right from the opening title sequence you can see that this is going to be a fun movie you can just sit back and enjoy. Chris Pratt's comedic talents are on show as one would expect but he handle action just as well any other A-List star and and look good doing it. Vin Diesel gets a lot of range out of his one line and Bradley Cooper is able to deliver an ACTUAL voice acting performance so good you wouldn't even know it was him if his face and name weren't plastered all over the movie. The whole cast embody their characters personalities perfectly and their chemistry is evident through even with two of the cast being fully CGI.

It does have it's problems. The villains in this movie are lacking much in the way of real motivation. All we know is that Ronan is SOME kind of zealot for...Kree Jesus? And the Xandar are...space Muslim? Who knows. There's a treaty and he don't like it blah blah blow stuff up. Nebula is tragically underused as a dangerous assassin and a daughter of on of the most powerful beings in the universe. While I know Thanos is an avatar of Death and wants to just kill everything is that explained in the movie at all? Honestly, their only goal and motivation seems to be killing people and collecting glowing stones. Whatever. Who cares. We just want guardians.

My other problems is that I'm not sure I get a real feel for how dangerous Drax and Gamora really are. One of Drax's main fights is just getting beat up by the bad guy and he seems just as capable of beating people up as well as anyone else on the team. The same goes for Gamora. Those two should be mowing down baddies twice their size and showing off all their melee prowess. 'The Most Dangerous Woman in the Galaxy' is held in check by a couple of ravagers?

This goes without mentioning how awkwardly each characters sad backstory is awkwardly shoved into the narrative. But, despite these flaws, their easily forgotten thanks to compelling nature of the characters, the quick pace, humor, and excitement of everything going on. Not since Captain America 2 have I seen fight scenes where I don't just immediately check out knowing the next fifteen minutes is going to be punching and skyscraper debris.

While there have been some greater movies released so far this year, Guardians will probably be my favorite and one I actually buy to watch again. I recommend it for anyone and would probably suggest you only take kids who are a little older as some of the action and the villains get evil and scary.… Expand

This movie is awesome in every way. I perfectly blends everything you love about Sci-Fi and add its own Marvel twist. The acting is fantastic, with Bradly Cooper and Chris Pratt stealing the show as Rocket and Star Lord. Vin Diesel as GrootThis movie is awesome in every way. Vin Diesel as Groot is great and lends a lot of humor to the movie. Zoe Saldana is great as Gamora, making the character so interesting, that I wanted to know more. The real surprise is Dave Bautista as Drax. For this being his first movie since leaving the WWE, he does a pretty good job and has a few good jokes on his own. The humor in the movie is great, easily making it Marvel's funniest movie to date. Most, if not all, the jokes hit the mark and are clever. The action is top-notch and what we have come to expect from Marvel movies. I've seen some reviewers complain how Ronan isn't very interesting, and I don't really agree. Ronan is very menacing and Karen Gillan as Nebula, his henchmen, adds to his awesomeness. Overall, the movie is one of, if not the best summer blockbusters this year and definitely on my top 10. The hardest question I had to ask myself was whether I liked this or Captain America more. :) BTW Make sure to stay for the end-credits scene, it's a funny surprise!… Expand

This movie had huge shoes to fill as the only major bridge between Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron and it delivered! Thanos, Marvels most imposing and important villain was still kept on the slow burner and appeared only slightly more than he did in the Avengers post credit scene but even without him showing his true colors he was still pretty damn menacing. Also, Chris Pratt proved to the world that he is ready for a leading role in his quirky, sarcastic and comedic role. All of the supporting characters DELIVERED as well from Bautista's Drax proving his merit as an actor to Zoe Saldana proving she is fit to play the deadliest woman in the galaxy. The two that stole the entire damn movie was Rocket Racoon and Groot, they transferred flawlessly from the comics and brought heart and soul to this film. Overall this movie is a MUST SEE!… Expand

This film was exactly what I expected, and what I got was nothing short of spectacular! I expected a great piece of work from the powerhouse Marvel, and they defiantly delivered. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The most fun I've had at the movies in a long time, possibly ever. Left the theatre with a smile on my face, giggled all the way home, couldn't shut up about it all night, etc. All the joy and sense of adventure of the original Star Wars trilogy with a hefty dose of darkness to keep it interesting (dude getting his skull caved with a hammer early in the movie is a reminder that this isn't purely a kids' flick), and just utterly nonstop humor from a group of characters deep enough that you'll remain actively engaged throughout.

All the negative reviews I've read have been written by people who really just seem as though they're trying to draw attention to themselves. I see 4 s and 5 s and, ok. I can understand it just wasn't your cup of tea or whatever, but then I see 0 s and 1 s and that just makes me sad. A few of them even mention that the audience was laughing uproariously the whole time! How hollow life must be when you can no longer enjoy something like this :(

After being forced to watch Ex3 and Hercules Guardians of the Galaxy was paradise. I just love superhero movies and finally marvel brought out a film that was on par with the Nolan batman trilogy.

The guardians blew avengers out the water despite a weaker cast on paper. Chris Pratt was incredible as Star Lord and Bradley Cooper voiced Rocket well, I would also praise Vin Diesel for his performance as Groot but he didn't say much.

On my all time favourite movies this is in the top 15 for the great humour and it ranks 2nd behind the dark knight in my list of favourite superhero movies. The film set up very nicely for a sequel and had a great soundtrack. I'm hooked on a feeling!… Expand

After watching the movie trailer I was highly resistent to even see it. Wow was I wrong, one of the best marvel movies ever, funnier than Iron Man but more care and plot than the Avengers. I have never had so much fun in a movie theater; everyone was just having such a good time. There wasn't a point in this movie were I yawned. Sure, it was relentless, but while stuff like the "Transformers" movies are relentless and annoyingly brainless, this one was relentless AND actually fun. Also, this movie has actual effort put into it. It cared about the plot (which is, I cannot lie, like every Marvel movie ever), the characters, the setting, the music (which is freakin' awesome) and, surprisingly, the comedy (there was stuff in this movie which had everyone laughing for a solid minute).
Now, I seriously want a Rocket Raccoon movie.… Expand

Director James Gunn took a non very well known MARVEL comic book series and turned it into one of the best comic book adaptations ever. It has extremely well worked and intense actions sequences and the comedy dominates the movie, always with great references. This is one of those adaptations, even if you don't enjoy super-hero movies or sci-fi, but it's worth the time of a Saturday night.… Expand

This is Star Wars ... like 30mins into the movie I felt on my chest a feeling that I just felt the first time I saw Star Wars New Hope

The passing, the anti-hero, the good and evil, the mysterious worlds, weapons, species and lore and above it all the crew of the ship and how they come all together was so amazing and I didn't feel the CGI maybe because I was so engaged with the story and the music is well chosen :)

I pray that marvel doesn't bring the others hero crap into guardians 2 and keeps more in this universe.

One of my top 5 favorite movies ever, my 2nd favorite Marvel movie ever, to me the funniest Marvel movie, and one of the funniest movie I have ever seen. It is super funny and entertaining. The script perfectly blends together humor and seriousness and gives each of the actors moments to shine and make us laugh, something we don’t get too much of in other MCU films. GotG is a movie that understands that having fun is important to enjoying a movie but also that the fun has to be well executed to work. The actors all do great with their characters and bring a humorous personality to them which works well with the script. GotG is also a breath of fresh air, as the movie has no connection to the other installments in the MCU other than us knowing that it’s part of the cinematic universe, which allows us to get to know the characters without having any interference from the Avengers. Ronan isn’t the most compelling villain Marvel has ever come up with, but he is given enough backstory and is powerful enough to avoid the lackluster villain problem and pose a decent threat to our heroes. The action is solid, and the fights on the Dark Aster are entertaining. GotG is one of the funniest MCU movies and will be great for viewers looking for a few laughs.… Expand

Then he finds his true calling when he is given the chance to save the Galaxy. He teams up with a very unlikely team of “Crazy Creative Ninjas”. They don’t step back in the face of a near impossible challenge. They improvise and adapt to the challenge in very creative ways.

It’s also about owning your own identity and try to direct how others define you. Both through your actions and what thoughts you share. To do your own Storytelling about you.
You are the one doing your own Self Narration.

I like how they pulled the team together. If you did not see any of the latest crop of Marvel movies, you will be fine. This is a stand alone series.

It does suffer from the same problem as Thor: the Dark World in that the villain is pretty one dimensional. We're told he's evil through dialogue but there's not a great deal of evidence on screen until we're pretty far into the film but you're so caught up with getting to know the heroes and seeing what's going on with them that you find yourself not being too bothered. From Peter Quill constantly fighting his ego to Gamora's "who put the sticks up their butt" misunderstanding to Drax not being able to understand metaphors to Rocket's abrasive edge to Groot's incredible dialoque, they all provide laughing moments throughout the film. The action sequences were done really well, as is to be expected from Marvel these days. The plot also unfolded nicely. I was worried in the beginning that they were trying to stretch the audience's attention too thin and have too many plot elements going on at once but they merged fairly quickly and developed well. I still would've preferred for this element of the Marvel universe to stay separate from the Avengers but hey, it's still very entertaining.… Expand

I thought this was a refreshingly funny and entertaining movie that was very well done. The acting fell a bit flat at times but it was still another really good movie released by Marvel Studios. The acting fell a bit flat at times but it was still another really good movie released by Marvel Studios. The group that was in the movie was a bit different as the GotG aren't that popular in the comic world. Barely anyone knew who they were at the time of the movie being announced but Marvel took a risk and it worked out very well. There was more of an emphasis on humor in this movie, which is probably why they hired a fairly well received comedian for the staring role in Chris Pratt. The humor is well done and the dynamic that is infused within the movie is really well done, especially with Rocket and Groot, who provided most of the humor the movie delivered. The movie had alot of action in it too and it bounced back and forth between the two very well. The only problem I had was with probably the most well known actor in the group and that was Zoe Saldana. She fell flat a few times here and there and I just felt like she was disinterested in what she was doing half the time on screen. It's not enough to ruin the movie but it was noticeable for me. At the end of the day though, this was a very well done movie and another good movie done by the Marvel Studios. It's the last one of the year for them and they went out with a pretty big bang.… Expand

Guardians of the Galaxy is a fantastic thrill ride filled with humour and brilliant and unique characters, which never goes too mad or over-the-top and feels just like one of those 70's/80's classics, being gloriously understated andGuardians of the Galaxy is a fantastic thrill ride filled with humour and brilliant and unique characters, which never goes too mad or over-the-top and feels just like one of those 70's/80's classics, being gloriously understated and refreshingly un-reliant on length or CGI. Refreshing, fun, brilliantly written and brilliantly acted, this is the best Marvel film I've seen and is pretty much the perfect blockbuster. Screw The Avengers when you've got this.

I loved this movie! It was witty, had good characters that I cared about, great special effects and a good villain. I would have given it 10 if it had more of the villain. The good bad guys were deliciously bad and the sequel will be successful if it can pull off the classic moments of these guys being good, but relishing being bad at the same time. I didn't have huge expectations for the film entering the theatre. I was already extremely wowed by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and X-Men: Days of Future Past, and didn't think that this obscure of a comic group could beat or be equal withI didn't have huge expectations for the film entering the theatre. I was already extremely wowed by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and X-Men: Days of Future Past, and didn't think that this obscure of a comic group could beat or be equal with the two films mentioned. I was quite wrong. Guardians of the Galaxy is a fantastic film that is one of Marvel's top 5 best films. Not only does the film feature the great action you'd expect from a marvel flick, but this film had comedic elements that were missing from many marvel films over the past few years. The Acting/Voicing by all of the main cast members (specifically Pratt and Cooper) was fantastic, giving us a very good depth of their characters. The best part of the film, however, was it's humor. The humor in this film was fantastic, making it a much funnier, lighter, and better entry than the previous two out of Marvel Studio (WDSMP), Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Thor: The Dark World. Overall, this along with the two films mentioned earlier just made this summer one f*****g fantastic summer movie season.… Expand

The perfect blend of action and comedy! It truly brings the super hero genre of movie onto a whole new level. With a great job by the entire cast and fantastic special effects you just can't help but love this movie!

Guardians of the Galaxy is the best new movie I've seen all summer. The space battle scenes put 2 of the last 3 star wars films to shame. I know CG has come a long way in a short amount of time, but you gaze at these alien civilizations andGuardians of the Galaxy is the best new movie I've seen all summer. The space battle scenes put 2 of the last 3 star wars films to shame. I know CG has come a long way in a short amount of time, but you gaze at these alien civilizations and they are fully rendered and just make sense. The plot is not ultra complex, but it doesn't need to be. The characters are interesting. Even Groot, with the one phrase he can say. I thought that would get tired quick but surprisingly it doesn't.
My biggest criticism of this film is Karen Gillan's relatively small part. It would have been cool to see more with her character. More fight scenes or initiative from her.
This is not one of those films where a perfect protagonist easily saves the day. This is a film about a bunch of flawed characters making something more than they are. It is a very humorous film, but surprisingly it has heart too. And action. Lots and lots of action. It strikes a good balance. If I had to rank the marvel films from best to worst this one would easily come in top third.… Expand

Marvel continues to wow! This is a movie that will appeal to nearly anyway: sci-fantasy buffs, comic book nerds, teens, even younger kids. Grown ups will get a lot of the references that will go right over the heads of younger kids (which, in the case of a one or two slightly risque jokes, is a good thing). The film is well-paced and doesn't take itself too seriously. While there are a couple of plot points that might leave hard-core Marvelites kind of puzzled, there are no gaping holes that I noticed and the cast totally delivers on their misfit characters. Probably the nearest thing I can compare GotG to is Firefly, and that's hardly a bad thing. Its funny, action-packed, occasionally clever and does a great job of introducing us to the larger Marvel universe (literally). I was worried that we wouldn't see another big summer film as fun as Pacific Rim for a long time but thankfully I was wrong. If there is a complaint to be found its that the after-credit scene was kind of weak, although pretty appropriate considering the tone of this flick. It was still better than the one in Winter Solider and a cute gift for all True Believers. You won't regret watching Guardians of the Galaxy unless you hate fun, science fantasy and talking pseudo-animals.… Expand

I'm no t giving a 9 because this is one of the best movies out there but because in my opinion is the best that marvel has made so far including the disgusting x-men saga, this is definitely a must see movie.
